M3 Grant “Leak”

Thanks to (just like the previous screenshots) J.Saunders for this one.

Hello everyone,

yesterday, I posted tankopedia screenies with some of then vehicles, that were developed a long time ago. Here’s one more. It’s a vehicle, that will very likely appear on tier 4 of the “Firefly” branch – it’s the M3 Grant.

Keep in mind that these stats belong to a vehicle, that wasn’t even supertested and was developed years ago.

    • It is lower than the American M3 Lee, which has a RoF or 20. Either there is something we are missing in regards to that, or the vehicle has some advantage over the Lee that we’re not seeing right now.

Or maybe the Lee wasn’t as fast firing when these stats were composed several years ago.

The turret armor seems the most interesting, since the Lee doesn’t mention turret armor at all, so maybe at this time they were more genuinely interested in multi-gun support. Or maybe this is just for the general listing of stats n all.

        • Ahh, no wonder why. I guess I would have to check tank inspector to see what the Lee’s turret armor values are compared to this vehicle, but I’m not on the computer with that installed right now.

          • Just the other day I tried to penetrate M3 Lee “turret” and all (4-5) direct hits from my M5 Stuart with 37mm gun M6 with 56 penetration dinged. Now I am really curios as to what armor has Lee compared to Grants 18mm…

        • The Lee’s penetration was already considered pretty good even when it met higher tiers. The gun platform is meh, the gun itself is good. And Wargaming has implemented very few tanks with high armor as of late. With 90 pen you’ll struggle with AT, VK36s and T-150s. Everything else is fair game.

    • I agree, “Lee=shit” is a relic from an era when it was only up against T-28 and Panzer III, so it seemed very outclassed. Last time I played, it was a very good tank that you just need to play more defensively.

  1. MMmm….another version of the Lee. They see me trollin, they hatin! Seriously though…this thing will cause much rage about how “bad” it is, but I can see lots of very good games coming out of it if its played properly (ie, as a tank destroyer instead of a medium).

  2. Had never any problems with playing Lee (even when I played it ten years ago as a complete noob), nor will they arise with Grant.

Tomatoes gonna hate everything there is out there. Half of the tanks are to bad for them to play and other half is too OP when they face them.

  3. For me is a shit med or a bad TD… as you prefer lets see why

    MED:
-no turret, fogive flanking fast turning turret to punish enemy flanks if you need flank, turn hull and do same to scape… remember this see tier 6 tanks and 92mm is not allways enough specially in corridor maps you can flan enemy but my experience fighting and driving it is flank, do 2 shots BOOOOOM oneshoted.

    TD:
-no camo bonus, is to big and use on it camo net is not very usefull
-lack of a powerfull gun to play role as TD.
-vision range is short… but armor is not incredible high to compensate low vision range (Hetzer) and turret on top is an easy target…
-cant hulldown, if you think SAU-40 is bad wait try use Lee/Grant as TD in ambush hulldown.

As i say is a tank in the middle of nowhere… is not a med (lack of turret) is not a TD (lack of camo, firepower, vision range) and armor in general is not very effective.

I dont say it is capable of do good batles but is far from be a fun tank to play.

      M8A1 alpha: 75
      M3 Lee alpha: 110

      M8A1 DPM: 1800
      M3 Lee DPM: 2200

About dat DPM tho, did you know it’s slightly more than an elite T54E1 and the M103, and exactly the same as the WZ120?

Yes. Tier 9 DPM. Wanna talk TDs? Well the T110E4 has 2300 DPM. Figure it out from there.

  4. Well … that could be an entire branch od M3 tanks as we also have Grant CDL, M3A1 Lee (sexier hull, also better armor), M3A1 CDL + a couple of minor variants like M3 wit longer hull or versions with side doors removed for better armor.

    These look as follows:

    • Isn’t Ram tehnically an evolution of the Lee? We already have a premium Ram, could go for a standard one in Colonian branch, but sadly Sentinels will probably be premiums
