I suppose everyone knows about the exploit where when you put a less-than-50 percent driver into your racing Chaffee (for example by using a driver re-trained to American artillery), you will not accelerate any slower (or only by a little), but the vehicle will not drift at all, right? If anyone used this exploit during the tournament, they had a HUGE advantage. Oh well, Wargaming as usual.

In any case, here’s the translation today.

- there will apparently be a poll by Storm (not binding) to find out which maps the players want to remove
- Evilly confirms that the individual missions are currently in test mode
- apparently, the ISP’s of Ukraine were causing serious lags and crashes for WoT players lately
- Storm states that 7/42 battles (TB) are played more than WG expected
- there will be no HD model reworks in 9.4
- there is unfortunately “a lot of various problems” with HD model rework (SS: what I could piece together from various sources is that basically, WG outsourced the entire model re-work, which caused quite a lot of problems, the outsourcing companies (from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine) could not provide sufficient quality of the models and there were issues with communication. WG in tried several and at this point, WG’s own artists are creating the HD model themselves)

    • Yes, me too. I put in the driver form my m41 Walker bulldog and got 91% trained and no slide. Superb.

As soon as models will be good I’m happy, even if takes more time.

    • So if the HD models are being outsourced and we have been getting very few new tanks.. What are the WG model artists doing this year?

      It is a mystery.

  2. I like winning, but playing the Chaffee Sport without “drifting” it would have been sooooooo boring and basically made the game unplayable. For a tourney that would be different, but for the fun of it, I won 250 games and drifted in all of them and had a blast. I may have won 300 without drifting, but it would not have been as fun and I am sure I would not have played that many games.

    • I tested just now, and man I won 9 in a row without too much stress :P
Almost 10 if not for stupid mistake.

      I consider it a cheat!

        • Yeah, I’m almost glad I discovered this so late, finished the mission long ago, would have been too easy :P
But then again, I would have wanted M24 driver to get 100 % first skill too, smooth ride is useful.

  3. “- Storm states that 7/42 battles (TB) are played more than WG expected”

I either don’t understand this sentence, or it just doesn’t make any sense… anyone care to explain what was meant?

  4. Looking at the map poll, why do you all want Prokhorovka removed? Sure its not the best map, but there are far worse and on top of that its a good ol classic…

    • people are just too dumb to adapt, and this map requires it. It is just to hard for the average tomatoes to comprehend the type of the vehicle they are driving, the enemy team composure (especially if there are any TDs with a good view range/camo), and suit their gameplay accordingly. I like that map, especially on Encounter.

        • Indeed ..
i hate that map and my favorite tank is the borsig ..
its plain boring and stupid for everything besides meds …
          lights can scout yea ..
heavies can wait to get shot
and td wait for 7mins doing nothing until one side eventually decides to push ..
the map is to big to effectively snipe since your render distance isn’t large enough..
imo its a pain in the ass and fiere salient made it even worse since i get to play it sometimes 4/5 games a day …

            • i don’t camp .. i usually go to the tracks or if i camp i try to push –> problem there is that enemy scouts nearly can’t be killed by the ridge they’re hugging to scout so they’ll get you as you advance and the enemy tds will end your life ..
resulting in boring as fuck 7-8 minute wait-fest until eventually one side won the hill or crosses the mid and everything starts rolling on ..
its plain boring and stupid ….
meds might enjoy the hill and scouts the spotting… hell even arty may like this map but its ridiculously BORING for stealth vehicles like the Borsig …

              • I LOVED to play that map with Borsig.

Scout, shoot and remain invisible in a TD? Hell yeah!

    • Thats Wargamings stile, release 1 patch with some good content and 2 patches with: added stipes and stars to guns, removed some bugs and introduced new ones

      • As the IT song goes:
99 little bugs in the code
99 little bugs in the code
Take one down, patch it around
117 little bugs in the code

  5. - apparently, the ISP’s of Ukraine were causing serious lags and crashes for WoT players lately

luckily playing WT runs smoothly, enjoy.

  6. Tried that shit driver in the Chaffee Sport just now.

It sucked. Turning arc is massive, don’t know how you’re supposed to navigate the tighter corners on some of the track.

I’m pretty damn sure I can drift that chaffee around the track faster than anyone can without a good driver. Part of it is, you CAN slow down, and prevent yourself from drifting by lifting from the throttle, or tapping the brakes lightly. The Chaffee’s brakes in that game are ridiculous, and scrub speed hard.

….Course, I loved my T-50 and the T-50-2 back in the day, and played the old Windows 98 game “Hover” a lot, so maybe I am used to driving sideways?

  7. As member of winning team of chaffee tournament, I can say that 1 of our 3 members used this bad driver thing. I think we would have won without that one player using it too. However, sides on rally map were very inbalanced and we were very lucky to start on right side in finals.

  8. The whole “use a bad driver in Chaffee” thing isn’t an exploit, it just takes advantage of game mechanics.

Drifting is caused by changing trajectory at high speed; large enough change breaks the tracks free from the ground and the tank slides. A 50% driver can’t drive for shit, so using one effectively nerfs the tank’s traverse speed to the point where the tank can’t make large enough changes to its trajectory to break the tracks free.

The rest of the tank is pretty much unaffected; the Chaffee Sport has a ridiculous power:weight, which a bad driver can’t reduce, and the ground resistance penalty doesn’t matter all that much since the race is entirely on hard and medium terrain.

So again…not an exploit, just an oversight that a few clever players well-versed in the game’s mechanics realized and shared.
Was it wrong to use it in a public tournament? Arguably, but then anyone who really knows what they’re doing can probably counteract the drift tendency anyway, and it would be pretty hard for WG to make sure everyone was using the same crew level, so…eh.

    • Drifting also enables more accurate shooting on corners. With bad driver tank is constantly turning and so is turret, ending up with less accurate gun. We had one player with bad driver driving at front, our “rabbit”, keeping the momentum because we didn’t want to play corner camp at first railcart. Then 2 of us followed and softened enemy on the way while they chaced our rabbit.

Oh, good driver also enables player to angle his tank at full speed to bounce enemy shots, due to ridiculous traverse speed and drifting. Bad driver simply can’t do that.

      • I’ve won several races, with or without “wrong” driver, not firing a single shot.

But of course, if you are in the lead you often end up as the prime target, and if they use gold too…you are toast.
Worst thing I see is the morons sitting outside the cap and sniping = loss. Maybe it somehow can work in a coordinated platoon, but in random its just braindead.

And yeah the driver thing, it might be there for a “few clever players” to see, but its still a WG fuckup, and gives a huge advantage over those who don’t know; exploit IMO.
And right side better? You must be joking. Left side has bridge shortcut and easier turn at the last corner.

        • I was talking about tournament. Right side was clearly better. In finals we had very good Odem Mortis team against us and they too agreed that we were lucky to have right side. In tournament it wasn’t about shortcuts or easier (faster) turns, it was about damage dealing and right side will always win at damage dealing. This is also why this driver “exploit” wasn’t too usefull in tournament, it simply wasn’t about speed.

We also won quite a few best of 3 matches by winning 2 times on right side and losing on left side.

          • Ah, I see what you mean, the right side has a better chance of shooting over the low wall between the lanes, than the left side (?)
I suspect gold ammo spam is overflowing in platoons/tournament then?

Btw, did you win much by jumping into the other teams lane? Seems suicidal :P
Allthough, won a few were a team mate deliberately jumped across to distract and hold up the other team, if they take the bait, it works well.

            • Yep, right side get’s better shooting chances at first half of track and it doesn’t much help left side that it gets easier after first half as often they already are low hp or even dead at that point. Gold ammo is regular ammo in any competition, like tournaments or CW and I personally don’t mind it.

  9. If I can, I will without any question remove one map – Prokhorovka/Fire Salient.
I have nearly exactly the same opinion as Circonflexes and few other – that map lacks variability – someone camps left, someone goes middle someone camps right .. now this can be on other maps too, but the problem with this map is, in 90% of the games, its actually camp for the win, which i hate and i think its not healthy and not fun…
While other maps like old El Halluf had this same exact problem, they got reworked, on El Halluf there is a north part, where you can be dynamic and have real chance if both teams are on same level +-.
Prokhorovka is broken in this, while you can make this map dynamic, you need to have better team as a whole than the other to do that, otherwise campers will kill few good players and camp the shit out of it until someone lose patience, dies, and then campers just zerg the rest…
Another point is – you can usually do on your own something on most maps in random battles, even with shitty teams …. but on prokhorovka due to map design, you cant in most battles due to fact, if you move on your own, you will be target mostly not for one or two people, but for whole flank who camps on one of the sides…

    • Yes, please remove one of the few maps in which scouting (active and passive) and view range are still game winners.

  10. The majority of the player base that is vocal are terribads, and they are the same idiots that tried to push for “skill based mm,” not realizing that *they* are the reason they keep losing.

I’m sure this crowd of morons will vote for the best maps being removed. It already shows in the comments.
