17.10.2014

Please note that the 9.4 Common Test was postponed till tomorrow.

- Q: “If you knock out the engine of enemy tank and someone else kills it, why don’t you get the same additional XP bonus as when you detrack it?” A (SerB): “Misha (Storm), I told you, they will never be satisfied. Let’s cancel the XP bonus for detracks.”
- M41 Walker Bulldog will not be nerfed for now
- HE shells (SS: specifically, artillery) will not have their damage cut to half (while compensated by more damage doing non-penetrating hits), according to Storm it would be unrealistic
- new Murovanka was actually the first experiment to increase the size of all smaller maps to 1000×1000
- Storm states that 9.4 will bring optimization, in some cases pretty significant one
- Stalingrad will be introduced without Havok first, apparently in 9.4 also (SS: funny, the patchnotes on German forums didn’t mention that, it’s not confirmed yet)
- the “double base” assault will be exclusively in team battles
- map filter (selecting which map you (don’t) want to play) is not planned for now

  1. - Q: “If you knock out the engine of enemy tank and someone else kills it, why don’t you get the same additional XP bonus as when you detrack it?” A (SerB): “Misha (Storm), I told you, they will never be satisfied. Let’s cancel the XP bonus for detracks.”

You didn’t answer the damned question though…

    • He did. He said it won’t happen, and in the same time expressed regret at ever introducing such advanced XP bonuses because the community clearly can never be satisfied.

      • that’s just basic logic in my opinion, not an unrealistic demand. If the result of detracking is tank stopping, then the same result with destroyed engine (not damaged, destroyed as in red) should bring the same reward, as the tank is immobilized, and honestly – it is much harder and rarer to destroy engine, than detrack. It will sooner catch fire, than be red :-).

        • I think its about intention. If you shot the tracks you will probably track the enemy just as you wanted. Shoting the engine is RNG, it doesnt mean you will destroy it even after 10 shots in that spot. So they dont want to reward “luck”. Thats whan I think.

          • @FegelStation

Yup, that was exactly the explanation provided by devs last year when tracking bonus was introduced.

            edit:
However, one might ask why another “luck-dependant event”, like setting tank on fire, is rewarded… ;)

        • And than knocked out gun which takes around 12s to repair should also count as xp bonus because pleyer in such case cant shoot you

and than destroyed turret ring should give you additional xp bonus –> you disable their ability to aim ….

          and so on
You see the problem\ reason here. Not every little thing can bring you xp bonus… so deal with it

      • WG is rather stingy with regards to giving bonuses, it is changing but take for example spotting damage. Why not for 5-10 seconds after spotting a target can the original spotter not receive spotting dmg. If two players are spotting then give it to both.

      • Wow, always with the “omg entitled, never satisfied, community so UP, I’m so much better”

Look at it from the perspective of an honest question: why does immobilizing through one means grants xp, but not through another means?
Much the same someone could ask why tanking bonus doesn’t include shots to the tracks.

    • Because you don’t have damage when detrack, but have when you damaged engine (You can’t damage the engine without the penetrate armor, and you always have damage when do it)
The bonus exp for detrack is for lower tier in a battle, when they can’t penetrate enemy heavy tank’s armor, so they will still have exp even they don’t have much damage. why you need that exp when you already have from damaging engine?

      • that actually makes sense. You get the XP rewarde via damage.

There is also a second thing. With a droped track you are stopped at once. Witha a destroyed engine you are still moving (if you were not standing still in the first place of course), and gradually slowing down, so it is not exactly the same thing.

  2. - HE shells (SS: specifically, artillery) will not have their damage cut to half (while compensated by more damage doing non-penetrating hits), according to Storm it would be unrealistic

    Want realism? Join the army…

I’m convinced WG is now paralyzed from fixing the terrible whack-a-mole mini-game.

    • Well, the exact thing people are now suggesting as the bandwagon thing for fixing arty, would make it work more like the FV304. Not something people with a brain want. Just a tad broken.

      • FV304′s rate of fire is a nice EXTRA, not the main feature. It’s main point os the ability to lob it’s shells over cover where other arties could not.

If they reduced damage on other arties and increase the rate of fire, then these arties would still be able to shoot only these areas they can now. It wouldn’t make them anything as annoying to fight against as FV304.

      • first , what are the reallistic things in arty??? the gun of the artys have a sattelite telescope aimsystem and they can hit a speedy litgh tank in close combat…. these are so reallistic….

  3. The problem isn’t that the M41 is too good, it is that tanks like the AMX 13 75 are too bad.

  4. Map filter is not THAT horrible idea. I do understand not allowing for total map selection (I would play steppes, el haluf, and himmelsdorf only probably :-)), BUT and ability to exclude few maps from rotation… THat would be doable I think.

    • Developers are already considering removing a map or two from the game, this would be an excellent way of figuring out which map(s) to remove, just limit the player to only turn off 1 map. The map(s) that get turned off the most are the ones they should remove.

        • “Mhm, brilliant idea, however scumbag players would remove Himmelsdorf.”

And players with room temperature IQs would only want to play on Himmelsdorf because game play is so very predictable.

      • Not the way to go, as tomatoes are by far in the majority. See what their whine does to tanks getting nerfed?

  5. Storm states that 9.4 will bring optimization, in some cases pretty significant one

    For 10% of PC’s

Also they forgot to mention on the patch notes the new bugs and lag they will introduce

    • I play on a potato laptop, and since the beginning of the year, my frames have gone up from 15-20 to 30-35 ish on minimal graphics. So they are actually optimizing the game.

      • I’ve noticed barely any change as far as FPS goes. On the other hand, the micropatch that added the Fury also introduced 10+ seconds of horrible lag and ping spikes at the beginning of every match.

  6. They could just add an option for a player to just “ban” one map he hates the most. It probably wouldn’t affect the mm and would give WG information on players map preferences. They said they want to remove some maps in fact.

    • i against your idea. If WG allow that, medium and arty drivers would just ignore all city maps. Vice versa, HT drivers will ignore all open maps and choose only city maps. As the result, the game will be boring as f***.

    • or no “permanent” ban. WG knows what the map rotation is, let’s guess that it is 6 maps changed every 2 hours. So, during the current rotation pool, a player will be able to disable one.

      • How about just a ban for like a couple hours and you just can’t select the same map a certain amount of times.

  7. - new Murovanka was actually the first experiment to increase the size of all smaller maps to 1000×1000

And this is IMO very successful experiment :) Waiting for such rework next maps. Ensk maybe? ;)

    • I like it too. But you would be amazed at the number of players who consider it a failure. Because you know, they could their camping places away and changed up how you play the map.

      How terrible.

      • I’ve noticed nobody ventures to the new areas of the map, they just stick to the area they’re familiar with. It’s kind of bizarre seeing the entire battle take place 100m from the edge of the map…

  8. “M41 Walker Bulldog will not be nerfed for now”

Let me get the fucking tank 1st before u nerf it…ffs -_-

  9. If most of the questions are dumb spam, the devs don’t answer them correctly or don’t want to/ can’t and simply want to deflect them(realism, seriously??) ,…Then why have the QA’s at all ?

” We want to look nice to the community” …not working out too great.

    • Because not *all* of the questions are dumb spam, as demonstrated by this blog, daily.
I mean, seriously, are you a moron?

      • No, but they tend to respond to a lot of legitimate questions as if they are pointless spam. They really need to work on their public reputation.

  11. I just wish they would exclude some tank types from some maps.
    Heavy/Medium only maps.
Maps where no Art is ever allowed.
Maps where there might be a lot of scouts.

  12. - Q: “If you knock out the engine of enemy tank and someone else kills it, why don’t you get the same additional XP bonus as when you detrack it?” A (SerB): “Misha (Storm), I told you, they will never be satisfied. Let’s cancel the XP bonus for detracks.”

    - HE shells (SS: specifically, artillery) will not have their damage cut to half (while compensated by more damage doing non-penetrating hits), according to Storm it would be unrealistic

What exactly is realistic about bird’s eye view that cancerfags have in this game?

  13. - Stalingrad will be introduced without Havok first, apparently in 9.4 also…

    waiting for 9.5 patchnotes.

the 9.5 titled – Havok, will not come with havok, it was postponed, havok will be introduce in 9.6, maybe better luck next year, and in 2016 maybe your GTX760 and will be dusted off and used ingame WoT = World OFF Technology

  14. A (SerB): “Misha (Storm), I told you, they will never be satisfied. Let’s cancel the XP bonus for detracks.” << you know the devs are shitasses when they have this glib, dismissive attitude towards their customers. Even in jest it's galling.

    • To quote a movie…

“Haven’t you ever heard the phrase “The customer is always right?”
“Let me tell you something. Let me give you a little secret, okay? The customer is always an asshole!”

  15. I don’t think the T-34-3 buffs are gonna cut it, the main problem is the penetration value. All nice and dandy a high alpha, but if you can’t penetrate enemies and have to wait 11 seconds for every shot, for which you have to perfectly balance the tank because of the gun depression… well we’re not talking fun anymore. So they should improve pen to 180/190 and it’s a perfect tank really.

  16. “If you knock out the engine of enemy tank and someone else kills it, why don’t you get the same additional XP bonus as when you detrack it?” A (SerB): “Misha (Storm), I told you, they will never be satisfied. Let’s cancel the XP bonus for detracks.”

Typical ASSHOLE answer. Both SerB and Storm are two fucked up morons.

  17. (SerB): “Misha (Storm), I told you, they will never be satisfied. Let’s cancel the XP bonus for detracks.”

it’s a perfectly valid question. Guy just is a worthless dickhole.

  18. Actually it was not postponed, updated and logged in yesterday at 3pm to new test version.

  19. “- HE shells (SS: specifically, artillery) will not have their damage cut to half (while compensated by more damage doing non-penetrating hits), according to Storm it would be unrealistic”

So if realism is what were going for, when does arty lose its hand of god view?
