Is it just me or does the tank look taller in real life than in the game?
You are not the only one. Real height would probably hurt its camo rating.

You are correct, it is MUCH smaller in game than in RL. I believe is8 is the same story? (As they are also same chassis). If I recall correctly, its because of “balance reasons”
Complain about Sherman instead.

Now look at my brother (1,76cm, therefore nearly 20cm smaller in size) standing right in front of a JP: http://abload.de/img/img_077830u3p.jpg
If anything it might be a bit to tall ingame.
Go to a tank museum and get a feeling of tank sizes. U would be surprised how tiny soviet tanks are in comparison.
Panther and KT are just huge (Sherman is very tall, too).
So it is really just a virtual world optical illusion – I wonder if Maus is big as I think it is :D
you should note that that KT has it’s tracks about 30 to 50 cm lower than Sherman (a fact that is many times “overlooked” by those who use it for evidence that Sherman should be taller than KT… ;) )

From what I could gather from HEAT mechanics it would penetrate the outer plate but the inner plate would like not be penetrated because of pressure loss due to open space behind the outer armour. Heat really doesn’t like open spaces behind armour.

Maus hull is not that much taller than KTs hull. But its just a massive tank. Everything is big on this one.
