Update on the Gold Policy

Hello everyone,

regarding the post today about the premium tank compensation – the “credits instead of gold”, according to the explanations of developers on Russian forums, this applies ONLY for bonus codes (as in, if you buy a premium tank in the shop and you already have it, you get gold, not credits).

The reason for this is to limit the amount of bonus code scams – this issue seems to be mostly limited to RU server: either people hoarding bonus codes and selling them for cheap, or simply stealing them (they “guess” the code based on several samples, it actually works very well). WG has been steadily removing various scam sites (these are common to Vkontakte and Livejournal), connected to this issue as well.

Anyway, that’s that.

  1. so this basically means that if i win a reward tank from a mission and i already have it in my garage, i’ll still get the gold as it is/was until/now?

  3. Hmm… fair enough. I’m still a bit wary because I have a code for a repeat tank which I’ll only be able to use this Thursday and would REALLY RATHER GET THE GOLD, but this is much more reasonable.

    They really should give a better gold-to-credit conversion rate for these things though – and at the very least not count sales, since this rule is pretty much just for them to go “a-ha! Gotcha!”. It’s not like premium tanks ever go on sale in terms of credits.

    • They won’t. Just like suddenly they changed premium tank restoration policy. They didn’t even put news on portal, just quick post from Ectar on forums. I bet all-in they will do the same with this issue.

    “SHOCKING NEWS! WG is taking AWAY everything you LOVE! For details, come read my biased opinion laden jumped to conclusion post! NOW before it’s TOO LATE and someone actually investigated the news!”

    Story itself: Some random rumor from unproven source that turns out to be completely untrue as always.

    Result: Who cares, got traffic, posting a retraction that nobody will read or care about.

    Gotta love the tabloid “For The Record”.

      • Lol turds :) I get that this has become a hate blog where people who hate the game and for some reason still play it (or worse, don’t play it but still hang out here) gather to spread their hatred of all things WG, Russia and who knows what.

        But I do take a perverse pleasure in knocking you shits down a notch again. Call me a Tonight Show with Jon Stewart for WoT if you will. Irony of this blog has to be pointed out even if people who perpetuate it don’t get it.

          Plus, unconfirmed? It was on WG support site. Also, the support site text was changed at one point I think to include the bonus code part, I saw that explained by the moderator on RU forums.

          It’s always the same story. WG friendly post? OMG SS SOLD OUT! Bashing post? OMG SS BASHING TEH WARGAMING GTFO U PLAY DEIRZ GAME.

          • The problem is not with the blog itself, but rather in the blog’s readers. It seems that the average IQ of a reader is decreasing. Lets take the december missions for example. They were an unconfirmed(if I’m wrong, sorry) leak which looked like a great thing so everyone took it as confirmed info. So when the missions were “nerfed”(they were not in the game so I dont see how they can be nerfed) every a*shole on this blog started raging in the comments. Same thing with IMs, view range nerf etc. I mean how can someone say that the bugs in 9.4 were implemented so that 9.5 has something to write in the patchnotes, and that 9.5 is a contentless patch. Because apparently 11 new regular tanks, 4 mission reward tanks, at least one premium tank,2 new maps, and induvidual missions are not content. People used to be banned for less on this blog, now the idiots run amok. Dont get me wrong SS, I love your content(and content from the other authors), and I believe Daemonik does aswell, but the thing is the comment section became toxic because of idiots who dont know the meaning of supertest.

            90% of your readers based on comments, including you, do nothing but bash WG for the game that MILLIONS love including me.

            You are clearly running this blog to bring more information about the game to people who care, but what the hell with all the hate? I can literally pull up 10 examples of posts from a last week where the message was “Ahaha, see how WG screwed up again”. Why? To convince people that WoT is shit game and they shouldn’t play it? Odd thing on a blog like this.

            And that’s what I oppose to: Not the fact that screw ups are shown, not even when some piece of information is leaked and despite being clearly not final, riles up people to be angry about it (look at supertest leak of mission requirements, I think some people literally shat a brick over it) but I oppose you deliberately coloring the information of the post with your agenda which is “Fuck WG”. I’ve personally met a lot of people from WG and a) They are all nice people and b) they are literally just like us, normal people doing normal job to the best of their ability.

            Show me a single person who didn’t fuck up at work and then show me where a group of people follow everyone else around and tells them what a pieces of shit they are for not being perfect at what they do. That kind of arrogance and internet douchiness is what happening here.

            If you want to do a good job, provide the information but leave the charged commentary behind.

        • What’s unproven? The change in policy HAS happened on the RU cluster, and will probably happen on others too. It’s just a clarification which was made as to how far it reaches, which was posted as soon as available.

        • Well the problem that you seem to be overlooking is this: If WG had any idea what good PR was they would have announced this and all of the various other “changes” over the years. Instead, they leave it to guys like SS to dig up and bring up. Often times that means we are left to our imaginations about what it all means. In my opinion, if it wasn’t for this blog MANY of those unannounced changes would not have been addressed publicly at all, nor would they have been clarified.
          I can acknowledge and concur that many of the reader base here loves to jump on the WG hater bandwagon (which is indeed ironic) as if they secretly hope by bashing them they’ll cause the downfall of WG and thus finally prove “they were right all along”. They won’t be. I find the chicken little comments after every announcement to be obnoxious – but I dont come here to read the comments really. I come here to read the insider news that ONLY SS can really deliver. If that’s no longer good enough for you, I suggest you just stop coming. Or don’t. I don’t care. Just my 2 cents.

  9. While I don’t have any serious complain about the site itself, I gotta agree that the comment section is becoming more toxic lately. Raging to obvious placeholder stats, raging to experimental extreme stats in supertest, raging to “nerf” of unpublished- supposed to be internal info only mission in supertest? Raging at usual SerB reaction to stupid questions?
    I just hope AW come out already so WG could have more rivals (always a good thing) and those guys quickly move their ass to AW just like what they boast everyday. Less toxic is good.
