Today, the referral (recruiting) program reached the RU server. I guess it won’t be long now for EU server. So, who wants to become my slave padawan recruit?

- Q: “Why is spotting damage rewarded so little?” A (SerB): “Don’t do spotting damage.”
- Q: “Is the current XP reward situation satisfactory?” A: “For us, yes.”
- Q: “Why didn’t you split the platoon statistics from the solo ones?” A: “Because we can’t please you all anyway, you’d just make up something else…” (SS: as in to whine about) “… “and the info becomes unreadable.”
- Storm confirms there will be various settings for the minimap – you will be able to disable the viewrange sector and the tank names on it independently
- Storm confirms that three “mounds” of rubble (covers) will be removed in Stalingrad
- regarding the “Hetzer” armor model fix announced in 9.5, I checked the current model and found nothing wrong with it. After asking Storm what exactly was fixed, his answer was “some little things”
- Storm’s opinion is that 40 maps in the game is too much, it would be perfectly fine to remove 10 of them, the game would only improve
- Storm confirms that “bad” maps will be deleted from the game
- apparently, the render range change from a square to circle will come soon
- Storm is aware that the change from square to circle will change the gameplay on some maps, developers are running tests how exactly – for now, they found no big issues with it
- Severogorsk was removed because according to WG heat maps, it turned out to be extremely bland
- Prokhorovka will apparently not be removed from the game, the “copy” of it (Fiery Salient) only had its probability reduced

    • Personally i like to have more than 20 FPS on that map

Fiery Salient is not good map IMO, gameplay wise its OK but visually it doesnt look good, even on Max textures they are blurred on that map.

Ps: and no, my hardware is ok(phenom II X6 3.8 GHz, nVidia GTX 750ti OC GS)

        • Dude a Phenom II X6 is way enough to play wot. That game is not cpu bound. On the other hand a 750 GS is not enough.

          • Nah, I used a 750ti in my HTPC to play the game on the TV screen and it ran fine at max details and 1080p. Around 40-50 fps with the latest model i5 processor.

          • The game is completely CPU bound, way more than graphics card. The CPU has biggest effect on your FPS, until they implement proper multi-threading this will be the case.

      • I play with an FX4100 3,6 GHz, 4 GB RAM and a GTX 660.

        24-34 fps on max settings.

Soon, that will be an i5 4460 3,2 GHz, 8 GB RAM, an 128 GB SSD and a GTX 660.

Let’s hope it’ll improve because of the i5, 8 GB RAM and the SSD

      • Hey man… i recomend you to buy Samsung 840 EVO… SSD
At the moment your HDD is probably bottlenecking your sistem.
In my country you pay 0.51€/ GB
that is around 130€ for 250GB. Or around 70€ for 120GB.
        That’s prety cool price IMO.

    • TD are the only tanks that should camp in provarovhka (and probably one of a few map when camping is still kinda productive), and a very rewarding map for lights and meds… Something which is already rare for WoT now, don’t ruin it any further. If you are camping with any other tanks except TD (and SPG for obvious reason) in prov, you’re doing it wrong.

    • “And i cant go full man mode and survive”

In other words it’s not an idiot-proof map. Therefore it’s a great map

      • ofc. As long as dont use slow heavies and teams dont have arti… lol.. I hate these fucking moron who think they know the game. And try to advocate a fucking map. Go and play more your hellcat or prem spam e25… fucking wanna aces…

          • No wonder you hate the map when you can’t even spell its name right. And only time i have problems with it is when there’s arty clickers in the battle. I don’t care about campers in TDs or heavies or any other tank. I know how to deal with them unlike the cancerous clickers who will focus you over and over until you’re either dead or retreat to camp in the back of the map.

        • jesus fucking christ, dont you get that there has to be some balance in the map pool? not every goddamn map can favor heavies and brawling. Same as paper mediums and lights have to suffer on the bloody severogorsk, heavies have to suffer on prokhorovka. Deal with it, seriously.

  1. - Q: “Why is spotting damage rewarded so little?” A (SerB): “Don’t do spotting damage.”

I get the feeling that this guy is the biggest A-hole at WG. I know he must be fed up with stoopid questions, but c’mon :/

Don’t do spotting damage… wtf ?! you heard it ppl let’s all play heavies, that’s where WOT wants us to head for anyway…

    • You know that just yesterday they announced that exp for spotting will be buffed right? That’s probably the reason for the answer, keep complaining, never pay attentions!

        • Guess what I’m not new to it. And don’t exactly know how that even relates to anything. Just because I don’t value his dumb comedy, and think he’s a jerk, doesn’t make me new. I’ve been reading FTR for a few months now, more than enough time to have an opinion about the guy, and his ever so clever reactions.

      • SerB – why do we ask ? of him – it is like listening to a politician that just won a second term and is not worried about a future win. I really wish there was a viable alternative – I guess like the drug dealer always says… the first one is free….

  2. - Storm’s opinion is that 40 maps in the game is too much, it would be perfectly fine to remove 10 of them, the game would only improve

Uh huh – like it is now that map rotator grabs five maps and we still dont see other 35.
Its been ages since I last time saw Sand River…

    • He is right though. It would be really easy to program some algorithm that makes recently played maps less likely to appear. But I guess it would fuck with their oh so precious matchmaker when there is another parameter to consider for team building …

  3. - Storm’s opinion is that 40 maps in the game is too much, it would be perfectly fine to remove 10 of them, the game would only improve

Ah, and thats why they keep releasing new ones, perfectly logical.

Still better than League of 14 year olds, there are like, 4 symmetrical maps, no?

  4. Storm’s opinion is that 40 maps in the game is too much, it would be perfectly fine to remove 10 of them, the game would only improve

It would be better to see more than 4 maps while playing , it is so boring playing 4-5 maps again and again because crap map rotation sistem. Only Ruinberg Himmelsdorf Erlenberg
Karelia and Airfield show up most of the time and the rest show up very rarely

  5. - Q: “Why is spotting damage rewarded so little?” A (SerB): “Don’t do spotting damage.”

    SerB at his best :D :D :D

  6. “- Storm’s opinion is that 40 maps in the game is too much, it would be perfectly fine to remove 10 of them, the game would only improve”

So why do they keep ADDING shitty corridor/town maps and ruining old ones?

      • Because 99% of the players base is braindead retards that can’t do shit unless they are funneled into corridors where they will eventually meet someone to shoot. And as we already saw WG likes to cater to retards and hate on everyone above average.

        • You know what really grinds my gears?

Being “hated” by devs (for knowing shit better than them, most of the times, because they’re too stuck up and their heads too far up their ass to realize they’ve made a blatant mistake) is one thing that I can easily deal with.

Being hated by 95% of the playerbase because said playerbase is too retarded to realize basic shit, while we’re doing our best to carry them… it gets to you in a while.

          For instance:
          http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/451427-die-severogorsk-die/page__st__40

          Read that retard Dominico’s response.
Sometimes you really start to wonder if its all worth it.

  7. So Severogorsk is being removed fr being bland but prokhorovka gets to stay well wargaming is working as intended leaving the campiest map in the game in there while one which allowed for some aggression (and movement) out. this sounds like complete bullshit to me why the fuck is prokhorovka so special that its exempt from being removed?

(Prokhorovka this time last year was fine the map actually involved some movement but the last 6 months ive found that map is unbearably campy and its so boring because the team which attacks first WILL lose it is so shit to play and if you have no gun depression then this is the ultimate fuck you map so the chinese tanks are useless here)

    • Prokhorovka is “campiest map in the game” if played by tomatoes & potatoes.
Or if sky pigs are present on it. Then it turns from one of the best maps in the game to one of the worst maps in the game.

      Obvious solution?
Remove sky pigs & tomatoes :D

        • Severogorsk was good only for braindead idiots like you in top tier Heavy Tanks.

Flanking was extremely limited, basically you had to detour the entire retarded corridors to do some “flanking”
Also, sniping was 99% inexistent, so tanks with no armor & no turret were completely shafted.

          • Ferdinand Porsche stop making retard of yourself you fucking dumbfuck retard. If you think Severocancer was a good map then you’re even more retarded than i thought. PS read what Fedaykin wrote.

            • I seriously like the map. I had some good games, but the bad games weren’t really that bad either. Flanking was easy: Destroy the incoming flanking enemies and then you flank their entire team. Any player has the time to think on that map, that is what I find a goid thing about the map.

    • - Severogorsk was removed because according to WG heat maps, it turned out to be extremely bland

Umm, if that’s bland what about hidden village?

  8. They really shouldn’t reduce the number of maps but improve on the quality of maps. If the maps were larger with better quality and more options of play then they could get away with reducing the number (like how WT is…few maps but high variety of play). If they start pulling maps they won’t stop and we’ll end up with Ensk, Himmelsdorf, Ruinburg, Prok, Karkov, and Stalingrad and that’s it. 1 open map that the “pros” hate because they can’t twitch shoot you and the rest horrible for artillery.

  9. - Q: “Why is spotting damage rewarded so little?” A (SerB): “Don’t do spotting damage.”
I would really like to know though. Because you get more XP from doing damage in light tanks, so there’s literally no point in doing spotting damage :/
Besides extra XP if you’re already “planning” on doing a lot of damage that game

    • Fine, ditch your radio, shoot your radioman, and spot your own targets. And, since long range shots are for wimps, lets reduce all View Ranges to 300m to all get that “close combat” XP bonus. Make this a REAL man’s game!

Seriously, one reason many Lights (and some TDs) prefer spotting damage over dealing damage is that the combination of thin armor and small HP pools leads to short lives upon spotting. So, would you be willing to hold your fire and help your team win, or is personal glory more important to you than victory?

But no, victory isn’t as glorious as shooting. Lights are just piranhas and nothing more, and there is only one valid way to play; brawling.

  10. - apparently, the render range change from a square to circle will come soon
    _______________________
Apparently this exact same info comes out every now and then and we still have square render range. Until i see it on test server i don’t trust any ETA.

  11. - Q: “Why is spotting damage rewarded so little?” A (SerB): “Don’t do spotting damage.”

SerB at his finest, this is why we keep loving him

  12. I hope they remove Mines from the game, easily the worst map in the game.
I’d rather play French arty on Himmelsdorf than play anything on Mines.

  13. ” apparently, the render range change from a square to circle will come soon”

First it’s going to come soon. The we’re not supposed to expect it any time soon. Now it’s going to come soon again.

At least it’s safe to say it’s coming.

  14. WG for christ’s sake please remove windstorm, it’s just the worst map in the game and it’s not even close.

  15. Q: “Why is spotting damage rewarded so little?” A (SerB): “Don’t do spotting damage.” : whats the point of scouts then? :v

  16. What does ‘bland’ mean, in regards to the criticism about Severogorsk? Can someone translate that from Russian-English to English-English, please?

  17. Q: “Why is spotting damage rewarded so little?” A (SerB): “Don’t do spotting damage.”
These are the type of responses that make face palm. WTF are you kidding me. Serb Fix the shit.

  18. “- regarding the “Hetzer” armor model fix announced in 9.5, I checked the current model and found nothing wrong with it. After asking Storm what exactly was fixed, his answer was “some little things”

    Storm can go fuck himself.
