20.1.2015 – Big Storm’s Q&A

Before we start – one thing. I have to optimize FTR operation a bit, but I don’t want to sacrifice things I (and you) like, so I’ll sacrifice something I don’t like. From this point onwards, no news on World of Warships will appear on FTR. Based on the things from the alpha test and the last public test, I do not have faith in the game, I do not like ships and I do believe it’s a niche product, that will end up better than WoWp, but not by a lot. Sorry. But there’s some public test again, good luck with it.

And now, back to tanks.

- it’s possible that there will be new perks, modules and consumables, but it’s not guaranteed they will come this year
- no free FV4202 premium? “No comment”
- currently, WG is reworking WoT audio under to the “wwise” system, unclear as to what will it mean for WoT players
- the spawn point distribution (as in, how vehicles are placed within the spawn area) are chosen so that they are evenly distributed and balanced
- the issue with small objects of houses (like porches, stairs) being undestructible – this will be reworked, but not soon (during “complete content overhaul”)
- AMX CDC is still being balanced, it’s too early to judge it
- WoT will not have a separate subscription-based server
- Storm states that the nostalgia after old patches is just the effect of human memory of remembering only good things. The reality, when comparing them to the current state of the game, they suck. Not so long ago, WG was “testing” an old version of the game (6.0 or something), it was terrible.


- the issue that the medal for the winter mode (on RU server) is not found in correct medal section will be fixed
- it’s unclear whether there will be any second American medium line with T95/T96 (SS: Storm evaded the question)
- HD IS-3 will come “when it’s done”
- regarding the HD rework of Type 59 and Jagdtiger 88 (and their unhistorical armor), it’s not sure yet what will happen (“we will think how to do it correctly”), the decision was not taken yet
- the amount of arty in battles is satisfactory
- it’s possible technologies from other WG projects will be implemented into WoT
- earlier, multicore support was impossible due to Umbra middleware. This situation has changed.
- Storm states he doesn’t play arty, but other WG devs that do a lot (experts) like the Battle Assistant mode
- developers have thought about implementing Battle Assistant mode into World of Tanks, but Storm states it would have to come along with an arty nerf, so for now no proper solution was found
- Storm openly says that the Battle Assistant mod does give players an advantage in game
- some of the solutions for arty (should the Battle Assistant mode be implemented) include showing arty reload timers to players or to designate the sector where the arty is firing from (SS: now that’s just copying Armored Warfare)
- three equipment slots are “an axiom” in WG (SS: as in, won’t change)
- Storm doesn’t consider the manual enabling of Personal Missions a fail, both manual and automatic enabling have their advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include “informed choice of mission”. There’s not “too much clicking” involved in Storm’s opinion.
- IM filters will be reworked
- Storm states that the situation where strong clans dominate the stronghold mode is fine – it’s “strongest survives”, otherwise there would be no motivation
- there was no promise made that there would be a special mode suitable for weaker clans
- artillery accuracy was not “secretly nerfed”, “all the changes are in patchnotes”
- it’s not technically possible to set a different accuracy spread for individual tanks
- for now, no premium account buffs are planned
- there is no info in internal WG plans for better clan management functions
- an “extension” of team battles is currently being developed
- the next branch to involve “monster tanks” á la Maus will be the Japanese heavies
- the render range will be changed to circle soon, WG expects exploiters (who use this for trick shots) to whine
- the removal of platoon element in IM’s is not planned for now
- it’s possible that tanks with limited MM (FCM 50t) will be removed from the shop
- Panzer V/IV rebalance will not come anytime soon
- no ETA on HD M6A2E1 premium tank, as “it’s not all up to Wargaming”
- very long battles (possibly with PvE element) that the players will be able to join in progress are planned
- reconnect mechanism (of a client after a connection loss) will be reworked
- Storm cannot publish Stronkhold statistics regarding amounts of clans and the tier of their bases
- roaming was cancelled. The reason is the inadequacy of Russian server players, who would abuse it to screw with battles on other servers. There are however also problems not related with RU behavior – mass migrations might harm server stability.
- it’s possible that more settings will be introduced to minimap (fonts and such), but no guarantees
- there will NOT be skill MM
- Storm states that server for 50+ winrate players would not be successful, as players would leave it quickly “due to the increased difficulty of battles”
- T95E2 is apparently fine statistically (counting in the fact skilled players have it in their hands), later however Storm states he’ll have a look at it
- Q: “WG sucks, everything is bad, WoT sucks and you devs suck!” A: “Shit happens. Don’t overeat in the night, do excercises in the morning and everything’s going to be fine.”
- Storm confirms that he is aware of the “too many draws on Swamp map” issue, the map will be reworked. If these changes do not improve the situation, the map will be removed.
- Storm states that the amount of team battle players is not dropping, it’s slowly rising actually. There are plans to develop the mode further.
- the appearance of FV4202 in 9.6 test (for supertesters) does NOT mean that there will be two FV4202′s at the same time (premium and non-premium), it means that the premium FV4202 will simply be tested for longer time
- Czechoslovak branch in WoT: “I cannot say anything. Well, I can, but I can’t.”
- 9.7 will bring AMX-30? “That I also cannot say :(”
- WG is working on increasing the map size. No details for now, it’s not clear yet to which size and which maps will be made bigger.
- MM 3.0 – “for now it’s just a theory, it will take a long time to implement”. Storm confirms there will be MM fixes, but it will definitely not each team having a vehicle of certain class (“slots”).
- regarding the client size, Storm states that one vehicle is now cca 30 MB, so all the vehicles are like 400 * 30 = 12 Gigs. For players with weak computers, there will be a special SD variant (SD client) with reduced texture quality.
- Veider talks about the upcoming TD viewrange nerf: it will not harm TD’s, unless you are scouting with them or something. It did not come up in vacuum. Statistics were made and analyzed. The problem with TD viewrange is that TD’s do not “scout” (light targets up) much in the battles, they only do that at the end of the battle, when they are in critical situation. In such cases, they are OP in defense – thanks to their viewrange it’s difficult to attack them. Generally, the change will not influence the class gameplay, nobody will kick TD’s out of the bushes.
- it’s possible that in the future, some TD’s will have their accuracy nerfed
- gameplay inertia is taken into account in balance changes
- Aufklärungspanzer Panther will be completely removed, not made premium
- it’s “completely possible” that Italy and Sweden will get completely independent trees
- it’s possible girl crews will get girl voiceover
- one of the variants of dealing with platoon IM’s (change them) is to allow these missions to be played by solo players too, but with more difficult conditions. For now however, the platoon requirement stays.
- developers will not increase the amount of equipment slots for gold (it’s pay to win too much)
- Havok will not increase WoT’s minimal requirements, as it will be optional
- tank shell trajectory will not be changed to resemble a curve on horizontal plane
- progress bar of IM’s in battle is already being developed
- it will not be possible to select IM directly in battle
- Japanese premium MT (STA-2) is almost ready
- Storm states that lags and freezes when switching to arty mode stopped being a massive problem after the fixed from last patches
- the option to transfer XP from one crewmember to another will not be implemented
- Minsk map will not be implemented apparently
- it’s possible company mode will be completely removed
- Chat 2.0 is in the implementation process. It has however issues when the amount of players is too high.
- developers are working on HD maps as well
- it’s possible Sh-37 Soviet gun penetration will be revisited
- low caliber autocannons with limited range will not have their range increased, it’s not just a game issue, but also a server performance issue
- it’s likely that perk rebalance will not come this year
- KV-5 miniturret buff would only come at the expense of that tank losing its limited MM
- unique perks for events will not be implemented
- the result of the recent armor role discussion will be a nerf of several outstanding guns’ penetration, but beyond that, nothing for now, these “quite possibly” include 300mm+ pen guns
- new emblems are not planned for now
- Storm played more than before lately, didn’t like IS-8 so he switched to US M6
- Q: “What’s with garage battles?” A: “Nothing”
- 30 x 30 format was scrapped for now
- low to mid tier vehicles will not recieve limited +1/-1 MM
- multiturret mechanism is not being developed for now
- AMX CDC and T-54 model 1945 will not have limited MM
- Tiger L/56 is a tester tank, no decision about it yet
- Panther 88 will not recieve limited MM
- T67 will be investigated for being OP (SS: as in, possibly nerfed)
- Prokhorovka and Swamp will not be limited to tiers 1-6
- Storm states that there is no such thing as a “corridor maps trend”, the result of the entire “corridor” discussion/whine were changes on several specific maps
- Severogorsk was removed because it was boring
- Object 260 will not be nerfed for now, too few statistics are available
- TD2 mission will be investigated, there’s possibly a bug.
- AMX CDC will possibly be a normal (purchaseable) premium tank, but it’s not totally sure yet

      • Malinovka hill without ridges preventing shits up and down, more usable space with terrain irregularities (instead of two flat corridors) and being able to scout the other side without range reducing ridge stopping your team supporting you and bushes that hid tanks instead of being see-through at 200m.

        • Murovanka where you had cross-flank support actions, scouts being able to see something coming to the forest at early game, bases where capping meant you have to have someone else hidden outside cap or being against last and slow enemy.

          Currently if scout tries go middle field ridge and it’s lucky enough to spot few tanks it doesn’t mean anything as there can be entire fucking team hugging red line and you can’t do anything about it, if you go further they will spot and kill you.

    • I keep seeing the KV-5 pop up, and I hope that turret doesnt get buffed, that gone is not adequate for 10s.

      And warships will be bigger than you think, I think you may not have enthusiam for it, being a landlocked nation. But it is truly a great game.

      • KV-5 is good if you meet total wankstain or newbie, or city map, or being top dog. Otherwise – only skill will save you.

        It only matters if waterline plays a big role in your nation – my country too have one, so what? I dont care :)

          • Or you get shot by Kv-5 on the move(due to its above average fire control better than most mediums at tier 8), get rammed, and possibly get shot again and you die…if you didn’t get killed on the ram.

            Meanwhile you had only time to shoot once or twice; so half the time your hands are shaking as KV-5 charges toward you while turning left/right irregularly, and you bounced that shot.

            And even in the rare chance that you survived two shots and a ram from KV-5 due to RNG, KV-5 still has around 2 or 3 times your HP and superior DPM.

            • I agree, KV5 never got fucking nerfed it got buffes as much as other tanks when 8.6 went live due to increased overall accuracy. If KV5 would be the only tank not getting a accuracy buff then yes it has been plain nerfed, but it didnt. It abuse the RNG just as much as all other tanks.

    Also, where are those that said the BA mod doesn’t give an advantage? If something has to be nerfed due to it being implemented in the full game, it screams unbalanced.

      • BA gives the majority of players an advantage, if you suck so much that you cannot use it to it’s full potential then yeah it wouldn’t give you an advantage.

      • And that’s why we need to stop bitching about AW. It’s not going to kill WoT, and they’re going to play very similarly. But play it or not, it’s existence only helps both sides as competition breeds innovation. WT was too different from WoT to really have an affect, but this… Well. I suppose only time will tell.

    • If you remove the limit there will be hundreds of thousands of premium tank owners who would freak the hell out all over the forums. I don’t think WG wants to deal with that crap. Its probably better to just pull them than it is to nerf them.

    • How is giving T67 20 more viewrange and making the turret smaller a nerf?
      It’s open-topped now, yes, but when hit by arty it got penetrated before the change anyway, so there’s no drawback that I can see.

      • it was effectively nerfed when they started removing trees and bushes like a drunk south american logging corporation. also many once reliable bushes are now a lie.

    • even though the T67 was nerfed, it is still a very good tank, kinda falls right on the line that separates OP from balanced, kinda the same as the FV304, they didn’t really nerf either of the 2 enough.

      and it’s wierd how they’re buffing the awful panther in 9.6, but they’re removing it soon. they may change their minds if they see if it goes well. still not a very good tank to drive but yeah, main problem is probably getting people telling you to go and scout. :S

    IMO, the OP characteristics of this tank are to make it interesting to (try to) grind, before a strong nerf when there will be enough of them. And as the tank will not be paid in gold, the players will have nothing to say …

    • I’m siding with Storm on this one. For all we know, this tank could turn out like the ATs when they were introduced: apparently indestructible until the community as a whole learns who to pick it apart. Alternately, it could be in need of a huge nerf, but to find out we need a large enough sample to draw any statistical data from it.

      • This tank has an armor at least equivalent to the IS-7 (excepted the small weakspot on the turret), a better gun than the IS-4 and nearly the mobility of a medium (based on videos we saw of it) … seen like that, this tank has apparently no real weakness, and is at least really good, if not totally OP.
        I agree that we will need stats, but there will be a bias that the requirement to get it make it nearly only accessible to excellent players. For a good statistical sampling, we would need a relatively equal sampling of the level of players, meaning to see how average or bad players behave with it.

        • True enough, and it’s true that it seems pretty much OP in the videos, though to be fair, it wouldn’t be good propaganda if it didn’t. However you raise a valid point. The only ones driving this are going to be Unicum pricks and Übermensch clan types. Maybe they can balance it economically like the Pz. II J, that is to say make it too expensive to run regularly. Only time will tell, though.

    • They haven’t said anything about it becoming buyable. Also, it’s still being balanced (as I suspected all along despite earlier statements that it’s stats were final) so hold your horses with that enthusiasm; it may yet get a nerf.

    And no news about the big accuracy nerf?

    • I really hope it does include a nerf to gold ammo. Right now gold ammo seems to be the ONLY reason why we’re getting so many premiums without pref-MM and why pref-MM premiums might be pulled from the store in the future.

      • I think they should nerf both gold ammo and general ammo for several tanks in tier 8-10. Its not sane to have mediums with so much standard pen and its not sane to have tier 9-10 heavys with 258mm AP pen.

          • It depends, the real problem is both gold ammo and general high pen values added with the too good accuracy. Ofc heavys pen needed to get nerfed when they increased the accuracy. Now WG will make it right again nerf accuracy and pen on some tanks. Point and click must not be a part of this gaem.

      • Those who use gold are cheap cunts, since even people in t9-10 heavys and TDs use gold, when they can pen 98% of all high tier tanks with regular ammo frontaly. I hate when unicums in tier 10 mediums and heavys use gold ammo, what for? They already have enough standard pen and accuracy to pen anything frontaly with some aiming. If I can pen fucking tier 10s frontaly with 225mm pen and kill tier 10 with 200mm pen, why do everybody need so much fucking penentration, I dont get it anymore. Cant they aim, are they retarded, do they have bad crew skills, bad mouse and keyboard, bad ping and fps?

      • Well TD’s are supposed to have high pen guns. Its their main strenght. And The FV 183 has got terribile accuracy. And since the view range will be nerfed on this class the high pen will be the balancing factor.

        • Yeah but they already have way more than they ever need. I say remove Gold ammo from all T10 TDs.

            • If they remove gold ammo (which, let’s be honest, they’ll never do), they will have to rebalance a whole bunch of tanks (or rather, their pen values). Remember how few E-100s were played before 8.0 and gold ammo for credits?

        • TDs dont need more than 270mm AP pen max. Even that is too much. I argue that 250mm AP pen is all you need maximum to be honest as it will pen all tanks in game frontaly.

        • Removal of gold ammo and general nerf of pen on some tanks along with a bit lower accuracy and lower view range will make mediums flanks. It will make heavys push flanks like in the old days where positioning and aiming was important and let mediums and ligher targets be 2nd line supporters.

    The way I see it, copying other games openly is a good thing for the player base of both games.

    • Agreed. Competition fuels innovation. All we, and I mean that as generally as possible, ever seem to do is sit and whine about everything that’s wrong with the game. Then someone comes along and copies the model and says they’re working on fixing the bugs and issues that we have, and all we do is whine that it’s copying. I get that you can’t please everyone, but Jesus.

    • They’ll keep asking until they’ll get it. The devs already wavered a bit since they said that they are testing a league system of some sort.

      Not to mention that skill-based MM is already in WoT, in TB. All they would have to do for Random Battles is to limit the difference of the Player Rating average between the 2 teams by 10-15% – that would obviously prevent unicum vs unicum or tomatoes vs tomatoes battles BUT it would quite efficiently eliminate the bloody landslides victories/defeats.

          Landslides are caused by complete rejects that literally can’t tell their heads from their arse.

          Still have a screenshot where I did my best to crush a flank in the E-75, dealing over 4k dmg… while the rest of the team were just dropping like flies and almost no one did more than 1k dmg.

      • Games are like this because of TDards like you, too much pen and good accuracy and gold ammo. Notice that game was alot more dynamic in 8.5 as long as you had games with less artys.

    • Somewhat equal amount of good-players-per-each-tier on both teams – Im all for it. League system? Hell no – would mean tomatoes earning pools and raseiniai like nobodys busines.

      • this would be nice. i’m no programmer but it would seem to be possible as an average (light green,almost dark) player i’m getting tired of being the best player on my team, sometimes by a WIDE margin, and being pitted against 2 3-man platoons of purple/dark blue platoonmates on teamspeak. it’s like 3 nba stars crashing pickup games at the local small town rec center. the fact that they so often gloat and taunt in the chat is just bizarre to me. i enjoy a win and a lot of credits and xp as much as the next guy, but if i have a 9000 wn8 game against a bunch of sub 400 wn8 players it doesn’t make me proud.

    • I’ve been away from WoT for a bit. How was it buffed? I have the Vk 16,02 currently, and I’ve been dreading trying to push up that line anymore than I have. Well, not dreaded, but I’m really not sure how I feel about the Leopard, and I’ve heard the Aufull Panther is much the same.

      • I liked tier 5 Leo with 3cm, fun to use :)
        Luchs, Leo and VK are fine, not sure about tier 7 and RU 251 seems good.

      • Yeah, I’m not great, and neither is my PC, but Swamp usually goes down to the last few players. I take it as an omen for a good long match.

    Nothing to the average player…
    But voice/music modders will need to learn new editing software and the new file structures.

    • Nothing lol? FMOD is a buggy garbage limited crap. It was good years ago but now it sucks. Bioshock 2 sound is a total mess thanks to FMOD.

      The sound in WoT is just basic sht. Wwise is alot more advanced than FMOD.

      The sound will improve alot and will offer WG alot more cool methods of implementing good sounds.

      • Maybe to audiophiles with fine tuned hearing it will make a difference…but to average joe playing WoT on a cheap stereo headset it won’t. There is only so much you can do with “Boom” and “Beep”. :D

        FMOD already allows for a lot of options, but those were not really used properly by WG sound engineers so far. Gnomefather did a much nicer job adjusting his gun sounds for distance reverb and such.

        Personally I do not much care about the transition to wwise, as it will screw up all audio mods out there, inlcuding mine. I think some things should be left alone and reserved for a completely overhauled WoT 2.0 client. :P

      • Don’t remind me. I was playing while the Type was being sold and I could have gotten it, but NO, my stupid ass got Superpershing instead. I don’t regret it THAT much, it was pretty fucking good for it’s time (before nerf) and I got a kick-ass pershing crew, but man it’s there in the back of my head all the time.
        But I played the Type at a friend’s acc a few times and I’m indifferent between it and the T-34-3, mostly because T-34-3 has all that BOOM for a medium and not that less armour.

              • All low accuracy tanks hit targets too easy now days so I dont gét why one would complain on a 0.46 gun. Mediums are no sucking snipers specialy not low accuracy mediums. Many fuckers whould be happy that their crappy aiming and snapshotting making RNG and six sigma bullshit guide the shell to the middle. I am sick and tired of beeing outsniped and snapshoted by tanks having much worse aimtime and aiming skills than me. I for one actually like to aim to make sure I hit what I want and rely on skill rather than fucking broken game balance with guided shells.

                80% of all tanks would loose to a player that has superior positioning and aiming if this was pre 8.6. I remember clearly as fuck when 8.6 went live, even if you has better positioning and pre aimed people could just roll in and snapshot and hit. In 8.5 this was not possible because better aiming = you make damage. The enemy snap shot or aim bad = much higher risk to not hit there they aim. WG need to make aiming significant againt. There is a reason tanks have lower and higher aim time.

                Russian 122mm guns have it soo easy, their longer aim time and accuracy is not significant enough because they can either pen lower plate or overmatch your turret roof easily while you probably bounce their magic armor rushing shots. I have done many tests from 300+ meters away, the is3 hit more shots and penned in a row than tiger II did. This is absurd as fuck.

  11. If they ever implement Battle Assistant mod into the game, I sincerely hope the current aiming mechanism will be kept as an alternative. I tried this mod and with my FV304 it was a nightmare. :l

    • I tried it.

      I love the way it often placed the camera 5mm above the terrain you are aiming at and sometimes refuses to adjust when you move the mouse.

      Very useful…

    From the last 50 hits incoming from high tier arty 5 were one shot and another 3 were fatal damage and several systems got damaged or destroyed. It is just toooooooo Borring to play this shit after 4 years of a lot of fun ………..

    • 4 years? So you knew about old arty huh? Better rof, aim-time, somewhat same accuracy, better pen?

        • You got the point, that is the problem with arty, their guns are overpowered (damage) but the gun handling is underpowered (slow reload, aim, gigantic dispersions)

          • Never ever in whole this time I got so blown to pieces like now. It is just mind blowing that you get sooooooo many one shots now. that is all. This was not the case so much in the old days…. At least not to this extend that every direct hit by a high tier arty is a ONE SHOT.

            All it does is drives people away. To be honest i needed 2 tokens(was just to lazy at the end and did not want to bother) for the WZ and planned to spend some more € to extend the premium, and buy some low tier tanks as well…. All together about 100€ which I decided not to throw into the game just because of this events happening lately…. Screw this I ain’t spending € for a shit game.

            • WG “balanced” tier 10 artys against tier 8 tanks by nerfing reload, aim, dispersion… but that 2000+ damage shell WILL hit, thanks to RNG…

              in my opinion tier x artys should not meet tier 8 tanks at all! (just like before 8.6)

              • RNGesus chooses no sides. Unless you’re driving Russian. After all, it’s only coincidence that the KV-2 makes so many snapshots.

    • It’s not bad on low tiers, it’s just that in tier 10 all you can do is sit on top of that fucking hill if you have gun-depression and if you don’t you’re either doomed to ”scout” or play sniper ( camp )

      The map get’s interesting if not everything is locked down due to camping TD’s but usually the first 5 minutes of the map are amazingly boring in most higher tiers even the fun of scouting the ridge in fast mediums and lights becomes a drag when that is ALL YOU CAN DO in that fucking map.

      Granted, you can sometimes dive into that hole north but you’re not save in there if the enemy team knows some fucking positioning. Luckily most don’t and some are bad enough to not penetrate the top of the turrets or the dozen tanks that have that weakspot on an otherwise good turret. Of course if they do hit the top of an Object 140 turret or something like that that tank is as good as useless since it will get ammorack damage and probably a dead commander while being stuck in a literal hole.

    Basically from now on TDs will be more team dependent than arty. Why?

    Furthermore, only high tier (read: Tier 9 & 10) TDs are hard to dig out in the late game, all other tiers do not have the alpha, HP or armor to survive once they’re spotted. Their view range & their camo were the only things that kept them in play.

    P.S.: I love how nobody is even thinking about the nerf in XP income for TDs, since they will no longer “see” (read: also spot for themselves) what they’re shooting at, resulting in reduced XP/shot. Bloody fucking brilliant.

    • Fedayidiot, who dont you move up with the heavys in your TD then? TDs can be 2nd line supporters they dont have to stand 300m back and snipe. In fact many TDs help little by beeing too far back and rely on enemies just driving out infront iof them. Pushing flanks is important heavys shouldnt be fucking baits for TD campers like you. And if you dont like static gaympley with TDs nobody force you to play them. Play a medium or heavy so you can help team more instead and hopefully with that mindset both TDs and arties will be less seen on battlefield avoiding more nerfs. But even with the nerfs running good skills net and binos will still bring you close to 480 meters and you will still outspiot heavys.

      Its fun that most people dont like arty and TD and never did. They are broken as a class the whole concept is retarded, they dont add anything other then beeing liabilities for the whole game. And I say this as a former TD only player. Its not that TDs make more dmg, its that every dmg they make is in a idiotic way, either in long range beeing invisible or by having better alpha and accuracy making armor useless.

    • No, it’s not a promise that they will come. Just that if we get more monster tanks, they will be the Japanese. And nowhere was it said that they are going to be the next heavy line.

      We do of course know it’s a line they’re working on (it was promised for last year FFS) and the sketches Yuri posted means it’s upcoming… but it may not be this year at all. They remain problematic.

      - Keeps 2801 turret
      - Keeps the same gun choice

      - Panther mobility and speed.

      Tier 5 light:

      - Becomes a Leopard (scout) alternative
      - Loses 2801 turret
      - Gets same gun choice as the Leopard
      - Gets more HP than Leopard (about 500 hit points)

    • I for one tend to view the 8.6 as a buff, not a nerf.

      Back in the day, you wouldn’t see S-51s (or even my own GW Panther) pitted against Tier 5 tanks, that they can so easily one-shot. No, I still remember my GW Panther, being a Tier 6 SPG with +4 (!!!) MM to see Tier Xs. Not often, but it did see them.
      And from my point of view, a clicker like the GW Panther is somewhat balanced – average damage (you could do 200 at most against a MAUS, for instance), literally no splash damage at all but somewhat accurate – so it wasn’t gamebreaking AND it tended to punish campers first and foremost (you needed a target that would sit still long enough so you can aim fully and have a chance to actually hit, lest you did no damage at all).

      That is in comparison with retarded high-tier SPGs that shave off 300-400 HP by splash alone.

      • Thats right, it was a bad idea to give artys normal +2/-2 MM, because artys are insanely OP against -2 tanks

        Take the KV-2 for example, sure it can oneshot T4 and T5 tanks with 152 derp, but it needs to be in LOS to do this (wich is risky with a slow huge HT), however, the SU-8 (same pen and damage) can do the same from across the whole map…

        Pre-8.6 SU-8 meet T8 and T9 tanks most of the time, so almost no chance to oneshot anything.

I am tired to get hit for 300-400 in a fucking tier 8 heavy by a kv2 that aims less than I do and snapshot and I have a killer crew and good aim time to beginn with. The amount of quick scope shots is disturbing in WOT, makes good aiming less usefull and removed a very important balancing parameter in wot.

Also introducing more and more paper tanks and give them monster guns and view range is not good and healthy for the game. Paper tanks dont add any value to nobody. They can braw due to the armor I get that but dont introduce fucking paper shit so everybody else gets punished while they are moving. Also to be fair paper or not, when people use gold when they have 258mm AP pen no armor matters anyways. Players are cowards thats all they want to take little risk and make alot of damage. Personly I see no need for scouts, let people who will spot shit do it themselves and balance maps so you can move without getting outspotted and shoot into 1000 pieces.

        Scouts are only ass lickers for lazy ass campers like TDs and arty. If TDs and arty would be max 1-2 per game and people would have balls to move there would be no need for scout because nobody would snipe. That is why I think WG should heavily reduce pen, view range, render range and accuracy (for unnacurate tanks). And paper tanks? Well fuck them they alreaddy got better gun and view range for having low armor, what else do they want? I think WG even said they dont want more paper tanks in the game and that is good.

        Heavys have to be heavys again, armor must matter and low armored targets should act like 2nd line supporters like back in the days where people were pushing flanks and “flanking” and charging enemies etc. This was all gone when 8.6 went live because even the ugliest lone fucker could outspot and outsnipe everything himself and now we have the situation today where 80% of all players rather sit back than push a flank.

        Allowing all tanks to act like TDs with superior view range camo and accuray and pen hurts game dynamics. Its a fucking team game, we all need eachother to make damage something that is forgotten.

    * IS-4 with 130mm gun
    * Maus

      You spot a vehicle first that gets damaged by someone else..counter counts upwards.
      You track a vehicle that gets damaged by someone else while tracked…assistance damage counter goes up. etc.

      The server already keeps track of your damage anyways be it assisted or spotting damage, they would just show you the current value instead of showing you the total in the end of battle.

      And the question is: Would M3 really be any better with that puny 37mm gun (OK, Brits could get 2pdr, as it’s about as historical as 6pdr in Grant’s sponson) in the turret?

          B1 – Sure, my mistake with that name. Problem is, B1 doesn’t have any side traverse on hull gun, so while easy to implement it would be extremely hard to actually use.

          KV-4 (not KW) – mostly MGs or lowly autocannons, not really helpful, same goes for ATs and AMX AC.

          MTLG and ST-II – there’s not really that hard to implement those, as they use two identical coaxial guns (so they could have either just increased RoF or two reload counters, but still only one crosshair).

          Another versions of KV-5 and Neubaufahrzeug?
          Hell no, one KV-5 is enough (and yes, i know about T28, T28 Proto and T28 concept and i don’t really consider it a precedent) and Neubauscheißewagen? Really? Why do you want jerry tin can with L/24 main gun and two useless secondary turrets? Not to mention those turrets were borrowed from Pz. I (7-13mm armor) and armed with 7.92mm MGs with literally no armour penetration (well, about 8mm of RHA at 100m, really useful), so basically just giant weakspots . And on both sides, so no reverse trick to cover them as with KV-5.

          • There’s a few you can add to the list. Centurion 1 has a 20mm (I think) in the turret, at least some versions of the upcoming AMX30 had a coax 20mm, and there’s a lot more pre-war stuff besides the T35, like the Vickers Independent, the Char 2c and the FCM F1, and I think some of the various Char G1 candidates. You could even go WW1 in some cases – the Mark VIII as a British tier 2 premium heavy (with 2 6pdrs and 10km/h top speed!) anyone?

            I personally really want multiturret to come along, just because I love the ridiculous 20s and 30s steampunk monstrosities,. but I can certainly understand why WG aren’t prioritising it very high. Quite aside from the fact that WG generally aren’t very interested in low-tier tanks or enhancing low-tier gameplay where most multi-gun vehicles would be, the development effort would be enormous and disruptive. Developing a control system for aiming and shooting multigun would be no big deal, it’s all the peripheral stuff that would provide all the headaches. Just a few things I can think of they’d have to work out:
            - are there going to be different grinds for different guns on each tank? If so, you’ll need to upgrade the garage UI so you can switch between secondary guns.
            - how does gun module damage work? If a gun is damaged, how will the player tell which one it was? From the voice actor? On the HUD? If so, how and where? Will there need to be new UI and controls to specify which damaged/injured gun/gunner gets affected when you use a repair kit or first aid kit? Same with turret traverse module damage – which turret does it affect?
            - would secondary guns have multiple ammo types? If so, there’d need to be a new UI for switching between guns for ammo selection in the garage, and another one for switching between ammo types in battle. And if your chosen multigun control mechanism allows for simultaneous fire of multiple guns, you’d need to be able to see remaining ammo, reload counters, and ammo type selectors for all your different guns (up to 3, for the T35) at the same time.
            – just how low do you go? I can see the utility of autocannons or even quick firing 75s at higher tiers for tracking annoying lights or shooting up arty/paper TDs without wasting your main gun’s reload, but what about the miniturreted .50 cal mgs on some postwar US heavies and MBTs? Worth the trouble to implement? They’d certainly help you out against a Scorpion or even a WtE100 if you’re close enough and the magazine is big enough, but they’d be a waste 99% of the time. And what about mg turrets on low-tiers? You’ve already got the precedent of some low-tier tanks running machine guns with main armament, but if you start making miniturrets armed with standard-calibre MGs operative in-game, where do you stop? EVERYTHING has a damn coax MG after all.
            - rebalancing would be a PAIN. At low levels not so much, since the B1/Lee/Grant could all use a boost anyway, but the Churchill 1 for instance is reasonably solid already and giving it a free 3″ howitzer might cause issues. But if the 75s on the Maus and E100 are moderately useful for tracking, that could be a genuine balance problem even at top tier – track the bad guy with your 75mm when he plays peekaboo, then he either has to use his repair kit or else you and everyone else on your side will blast him with your main gun (probably in a weakpoint, cos he won’t be able to move around to make them hard to hit). Really alleviates the downside of having a big slow-reloading gun if this is possible, and could be a problem for that reason. And more particularly, low-tier multigun tanks will tend to have a lot of guns that aren’t very impressive individually – short 75s, 47s, 37s etc. So you’ll get a high theoretical DPM, but a low maximum penetration, which’ll make those tanks very effective at top tier, and very ineffective at bottom tier. That’ll be hard to balance, especially since WG seem intent on making limited MM a thing of the past.

            So yeah, I’d really really love to see multiturret and multigun support, but I’m not holding my breath. I suspect WG know that most of their income stream comes from people who mostly play high-tier tanks, and so aren’t terribly inclined to spend a lot of time on a feature that’ll mostly benefit low tiers and which could prove unbalancing at top tiers under certain circumstances unless done carefully. Sadly, I reckon it’ll be a long wait.

            • I know there are many more multiguns than those i mentioned, but past tier III most of those secondary weapons are really next to useless in tank battles.

              Centy 1 – 20mm Polsten only in stock turret, deemed impractical IRL
              Char 2C – i know many french players really want this monstrosity ingame as it was first superheavy in the world and one of the heaviest tanks in WW2 (about as heavy as Tiger II, Maus was never fielded, E-100 never even completed), but let’s face it – this thing would basically become another TOG, but worse – long, slow, barely armored (45mm is really weak even for tier IV heavy and that’s front armor, sides are even weaker and not sloped), funny looking and not even equiped with good gun as TOG is, not to mention its main turret had limited traverse… And the rear turret houses only MG, and not even large-caliber one, so not really useful either. But i admit, it would look helluva badass firing all its 8 MGs around. “Cool-headed” achievements for everyone! :D

                - micromanagement in these multi gun vehicles would be hard, but worth the effort if mastered (skillz0r ftw).
                - different ammo types – not needed, really.
                - regarding balancing (espetially when two guns in one turret, or only one gunner/loader crew) only the currently operated gun can be reloaded, so u have to switch to reload the other one.
                -oh, and NbFz has two guns in one turret – machineguns are worthless in tank battle.

I’m only annoyed I didn’t get the maximum version on Black Friday instead of “Digital Extreme” (thought that had all the expansions…), because with all the add-ons there are some new mechanics I wanted to exploit the crap out of as either Oirat (Much harder than Ming in Ironman and needs some decent luck… and to barricade Muscovy before they can expand much) or Ming (Even Ironman mode is retardedly easy post-Westernization unless you forgot to vassalize Dai Viet beforehand to prevent yourself from bleeding admin points trying to core his provinces)

    • While I admit that EU 4 was fun, it runs its course only too quickly… Once you figure out exact pattern on conquest, it’s rinse repeat. You won’t get 4 years of fun out of that game. Good luck.

What flood from which server to where and why the flood? And under what conditions for the flood for which you claim? Care to speculate? Or are you more worried about lost revenue? When are you going to learn to listen to what you players want? Or do you really give a damn what they really want of you with the on coming new completion of Armored Warfare coming?

    Come clean, what is the real reason?

    • NA East server tends to peak around 40k, so chances are their servers would handle 60k or so players.

      That’d be easily attainable with RU players coming over, thus making NA players not able to play on their own server.

      That’s not a good thing.

      People are curious and tend to believe that noobs exist more prevelantly on other servers, so (at least at first) many players will roam. This could cause people to leave the game if their connection to anything other than their home servers is poor.

    And also not reducing the number of arty per game? Guys, Armored Warfare is going to clean out the wax out of your ears before it’s over in time. It’s going to be Low Alpha over there, tanks are going to get warnings to move before they are hit, the arty will be required to move instead of camping one spot, and not getting vaporized almost in one shot will be very attractive to some players to leave WOT. Your tune will change again before it’s over.

    • The warnings are what’s making me completely skeptical for AW’s system. If it’s too long, arty is useless, if it’s too short, the feature itself is useless.

      That’s going to be hard to properly balance.

      • Foch 155 is only bad because people were used to “auto-win” tanks. Neverless you must pay the price for having a tank making 750×3 shots and have bouncy frontal armor and decent mobilty. TDs are support tanks they should in no way shape of form be as agile as mediums and heavys. Even devs nerfed them because they were too many. Too many arties and tds is bad for game dynamics, almost only mediums and heavys = good for game dynamic.

          • It’s not about WN8, it’s about players of same skill level now winning less, due to more of a 50% chance to win. This takes away the reward for being good, as you can win just as much by YOLO-ing the enemy and being bad in general. For competitive play games, that are like this, skill MM isn’t always a good thing.

            Good players are motivated by wanting to win and improve themselves. Facing their peers negates one of the motivations, and the other motivation doesn’t mean you’ll win more.

            • takes away the reward for being good? by that logic pro ball players should be able to play all day in the amatuer leagues. if the top players had to play each other all the time it wouldn’t take long for a hierarchy to form within those ranks. sure not all the purple players would stay purple-that’s life. not all pro ball players are top level stars either, but they could lie to themselves that they were if they could play for their highschool forever.

              • Wot randoms isnt pro ball muppet. Most random players play because it is fun to beat others because you have a advantage. Skill MM will make advantages less apparent and what would be the point then? Most people WR would be close to 50% anyways as they would perform less good meeting equal players more often. This will only benefit below average players since they will get 50% after a while and those who have over 50% will get 50%.

                Purple players would not stay purpel yes but that wouldnt be because they are not good, it would be because they would suddenly start performing more mediocre meeting other players as good as them. Its not possible to have better stats than 99% of all players if you only meet the same 1% top players all time. Not possible since when ever you trying to improve you meet better ones or if you become worse (stats decrease) you meet similar players (that also have gotten their stats decreased).

                How do one expect to make as much damage, spotting assistant etc. if all good players suddenly start facing eachother? Their stats would decrease drasticly. People only have their current stats because they face players that are worse (majority).

        • boris, I agree with you. Random games are not much fun in a wipe out, regardless of which side I am on. I would enjoy and accept a defeat 15-13 far more than a victory 15-1. This thing about skill MM being rejected is a real pain in the backside and a farce if you ask me: they already use skill information to rig the games anyway….

    There is an accuracy variable for any particular tank with a particular gun. The accuracy is adjustable on the server. They promote the illusion that accuracy variable adjustments require updates, but they don’t. They can just bring up the database and adjust what they want, when they want, IF they want.

    What if they wanted to be able to also adjust the accuracy of particular tanks? Owned by specific players? It requires ONLY ONE more variable (number) in the each players’ database. It would be unwise to do, absolutely insane to admit, but very simple.
    Not impossible; simple.
    I’m not saying that they do this. Just explaining that they can.

    They did not wander into the wasteland to receive this wonderful game as a blessing from some god.
    It’s a program, written by people and it will do absolutely anything that the programmers tell it to.

    • Accuracy variable but not this six sigma shit that is the same for all guns. I personly thing that it will be enough to fix so all shots dont go dead center all time. LIke the old system minus the 25% chance of shot going outside the circle. A mix between this new system and the old one would be better.

    Arty isn’t OP so it doesn’t need another nerf. Arty is however a broken and poorly designed gameplay mechanic that needs some serious fixing.

      Players who don’t understand billiards or basketball.

      I have it installed, but rarely use it any more. It’s not better, just different. It has a “neato” factor is all. except…

      You can shoot people under bridges and arches. For that it’s irreplaceable. For everything else, it’s often worse.

      If you don’t know why, then good. I’m not going to teach you. I want more targets, not more competition. :P

      It would even still work in the EU tree (if that ever comes) because many nations that received it made yet more modifications to keep it relevant.

      Like up-gunning it with a 105 mm, which in turn gives Wargaming space to make the play style unique despite it being the same vehicle.

Perhaps, instead of just ditching them, WG could “raise the awareness” with some direct emails and articles in the news, and not just to new players, but also the veterans, since we all get sucked in the usual habit of clicking Random.

    I actually think they could make it a bit better by allowing to see the stats and chosen tank of the commander and team members (much like you do with team battles), rather than just present you with a list of usernames.

    Hey now that he’s said that, I think I’ll go and play some tank company battles, just in case they are the last ones. :-(

    This is total BS. Anyone who played T30, or old KV-1S (i didn’t play KV-85 so i don’t know how is the situation with the spread of 122mm gun) knows that shell will, if not fully aimed, even at point blank range miss its target.

    • The IS still has that a lot even the IS-6, 112 and wz-111 have that terrible gun-handling. It’s native to the gun, no additional softstats involved that gun sucks on all tanks it’s on even with 6 skill crew it’s temperamental as fuck and it will meet E75 for the lulz.

    • I’m sorry, but the old KV-1S could fire on the move, at 40 kph, at a target 350-400 meters away and hit dead centre

      • I dont know, but most people complain about accuracy because they have packet loss = shell not hitting at all or dont hit where you aim due to lag. Also most people rush shots they dont wait 0.5s extra after the aim circle has shrunken to shoot. No wonder they will miss, some noobs also move the turret while leading shots = increased dispersion.

        Why do you think some tanks have aim time and accuracy as huge balance factors?

    So they admit that Battle Assistant makes artillery more effective, thus actually altering the gameplay for artillery, but they won’t make it an illegal mod.

    But when there was a camera mod that gave tanks the top-down view, it was quickly called an illegal mod.

    Also, World of Warships will be a great game. The decision to stop reporting on it is a terrible one. It’s probably been WarGaming’s most anticipated project in years. Nobody gives two squirts of piss about clone prem tanks or Havok that’s 3 years over-due…

They removed the E 25, they refuse to give the Panther88 the limited MM it needs, and nothing in the planning currently has limited MM. They even go as far as to sugest the KV-5 should see tier10s when its R2D2 isn’t so laughably weak anymore. What’s wrong with limited MM?

    • Limited MM occupy all spots for regular tier 8 tanks making them see tier 10 very often due to removel of battletier 12. Notice the huge amount of game with only tier 8 and 10 tanks and no tier 9?

    • People only complain on the KV5 because now days you can aim less and hit it. Before due to the nature of accuracy it was larger chance to bounce it and you had to go closer to hit those suckers. But in return this buffed the abilty of KV5 as well because it can now do the same to enemies (aim less and hit more and/or hit more consistent). KV5 never got nerfed because it gained the same benefits as all other tanks with the acuracy buff i.e the abilty to use its low pen and unaccurate gun to pin point weakspots of tanks it shouldnt even be damaging from those ranges. Only differance is that less aimed snapshots now days are far more lethal than pre 8.6 and this affects all.

    • Listen kid, what tanks cant you damage with 258mm AP pen now days? I think 258mm pen is the max tanks should have because you can damage everything on the battlefield if you aim carefully. Maybe not upper plates and turrets, but ALL tier 10 tanks frontaly.

      I play with 225mm pen and even then maus is the only tank I cant pen frontaly, all others I can if they are showing their lower plate and drive over a bump (so effective thickness gets lower). Right now you dont need more then 250-258mm AP pen because that is what heavys have in tier 10 and then can pen all tanks in the game in lower plate.

      Actually the pen increase is so large from tier 8 to 9 that they keep the same for tier 10. Nerf tier 9 heavy and TD pen ffs and nerf tier 9 TD pen. TDs in tier 10 dont need more than +10mm max because the pen is alreaddy so high,.
