Odd Weekend Event on EU Server

Hello everyone,

by now, many have already realized that once again, Wargaming EU dropped the ball and screwed up the weekend event (and they’ve been doing SO well lately, fucking up only the Gamescom stream… or the Fury competition (the rules are very stronk)… oh well…)

The event is called “Seven Chi-Nu Kai“, which is odd, because in internal Wargaming materials from July, the event was listed as named “Tenno Haika Banzai”. I guess someone didn’t like the Banzai part, heaven forbid they hurt someone’s feelings – like a week ago, when they put “Russian power” and “Hammer and Sickle” during the anniversary of 1968 Russian invasion to Czechoslovakia… but I get it, Banzai is bad word.

So, the original event news looked like this:

And now, compare it to the current event. Oh yea, that’s right, the 50 percent discount on low tiers is missing. It wasn’t working in the morning and players complained, so – as usual, without a word – Wargaming simply removed that line. The truth is, to be fair, that the line was not supposed to be there in the first place – it wasn’t listed in the leaked event list, so someone just prolly didn’t pay attention. And of course other language mutations blindly copied it – we wouldn’t want anyone to – heaven forbid – doublecheck on stuff, depriving EU players of fail in all the languages.

One last thing made me chuckle – Chi Nu Kai is a “mid-tier armoured sniper“? With 50mm unsloped armor and medium accuracy gun (you have to count the accuracy loss after shooting as well)… well, okay…

  3. Don’t forget the notoriously bad shell travel speed making it difficult to hit moving targets at range…

What really pisses me off, is that when I contacted support about it this morning, instead of saying “Yes, we’re sorry, it was a mistake and should not have been there”, their response was (in not so many words) that I was a moron who could not read properly and that “if I had read more carefully” I would have seen that it is actually a credit income bonus. In fact, what they actually did was not remove the line, but just change “discount” to “credit income bonus”. They didn’t even change the by line, “Arm yourself at half the price” which makes no sense unless its a discount!

    • Yep, just saw what they did… and then they call their customers idiots when in fact they are idiots themselves for not even being able to edit text properly.. Atleast if they fuck up (like they always do), they should fix it like they’re supposed to.

    The phrase “tenno heika banzai” however is specific to a particular era that China and Korea still have really bad feelings about.

  7. The turret is actually decently armoured. And it is a good sniper, got one of the best guns at tier 5, for a medium.

    • Yeah the T7 heavies love it…

      No armour, no gun, no speed, no point, the only thing useful is the garage slot which hopefully will remain when I get rid of this shite.

      When you get smashed 1 on 1 by a Matilda you understand this is really a T4 tank…
      That might sell a few WG.

      • Good luck with the Chi Ri then, you probably would want to commit seppuku from it. Pretty much a Chi Nu, but two tiers higher, slower, larger, more health and a little more armour and penetration- Its a pile of Japanese shit, but the grind to get the STA-1 is worth it.

    You are joking, right? You made a big deal about the “From Russia With Love” package and blamed them for not being sensitive enough.

    Now you blame them again when they try and avoid such a thing.

    • I see your point, but were they seem to try to avoid offending Chinese and Koreans, they don’t care one bit about Czechs; in fact they choose to shove the insult in their face.
      I mean, come on! Anniversary date for brutal Soviet (me so sorry; Warsaw Pact) invasion, and they make a special named “From Russia with Love”…
      At best tactless.

    • It’s not really fucked up or anything. Majority of Russians are just proud of their Soviet past. That’s why they don’t feel bad offending Europeans and/or westerners. When the Koreans and Chinese demanded the removal of the Rising Sun flag from WoWS, WG immediately agreed. But when the playerbase asks for Stalin inscriptions to be removed from WoT, WG refuses and publishes a pro-Stalinist article.

        • Who cares if its historical, its insulting, like having the Nazi flag on many planes in WoWp, they did not allow that. And if you do not know what the nation of the ‘Rising Sun’ did, they tortured, raped and massacred over 20million people… like the Nazis, Tortured, starved and raped over 6million people… thats why. Not to mention i’m sure a few Americans would find the rising sun flag offensive, and maybe even some Japanese themselves, this probably goes for the Tenno heika Banzai thing, if the Japanese have any honour I’m sure that many would be ashamed to see that.

  10. Not that its worth mentioning much but the start time for the event was 7:10 am, 3x and missions didnt go live until 7:25 almost, which meant my blind launch into games in my IS-8 and A-44 were rewarded with 2x for the first victory…. love ya wargaming

  14. Look on the bright side, at least you know what your month long missions are and your next on track.

    On NA we still haven’t heard about what our next on track event is, even though it’s supposed to start Monday, and we’ve got no September missions either.
