Hello everyone,

some slowpoke news – as you might have noticed, patch 9.3 is here! A weird thing – maybe I am blind, but I can’t see any mention of the HD textures anywhere, so just keep in mind – for maximum quality, you have to download them separately (see previous posts on FTR). Much stronk.

If your launcher throws errors, try restarting it several times, helped for me. Now I am downloading the patch normally. Also, as for the “forums down”, some stronk haxor group claimed they “shot down” WG EU server or whatever, but it was likely just some kid making fake claims.

  6. After like 2 hours of restarting game launcher, WoT finally updated. But now my game keeps crashing to desktop while I’m in hangar, shortly after I log in (I wasn’t able to join a battle to see if it happens there too). I don’t have any mods installed. Anyone else experiencing this?

    • Every patch the fps gets lower as well as it gets more jerky and twitchy. This is because the game tax the cpu more and more and makes it maxed out more often due to more features. When cpu at any moment reach 99% usage, then we will see fps drops and microfreeze. Of course the cpu is not used 99% all the time, but it happens now and then. So no, a better gpu is simply not enough. When I changed my gpu from a 7970 to a r9 290 I got the same fps, not more and not less. This is why battlefield 4 has “mantle” which increase the gpu usage and decrease the cpu usage, in order to not bottleneck the gpus.

      Or maybe the game is badly coded because the game engine BigWorld is kinda shit as well. I think the issues are a combination of hardware bottlenecks and bad software optimization. Clearly, the more fancy textures and physics and effects, the lower the fps gets. Not because the gpus can handle these graphical stuff, but because the cpu is beeing maxed out and cant feed the gpu with enough information.

      I think the hardware matters to some point in WOT, but above a certan limit it doesnt matter because the gpus get bottlenecked by the cpu anyways. To those people who say “buy new pc”, they are just ignorant. Sure a better and more modern PC would matter, but if you alreaddy have a decent gaming system you will not benefit from any upgrades because the game is the issue not the hardware.

    • They mention about a separate download for HD textures, but cant find the file anywhere :). The link on “separate archive” redirects to game client download page.

    • Link, that leads to 9.2 download page. And there was no word mentioned, what to do with those files, and where to even get them..
      Very, very stronk advertising, WG EU!
      And now I cannot even open WOT EU web to recheck that, it connects to site like forever with no results..

    No more fps dropps, no more lag spikes, red pinging (i mean good ping with red dot blinking… packet loss shit)
    Lovely explosions and other effects

  12. I was stupid and uninstalled WoT, thinking I’d clean things up and reinstall. Found out that the download from the website is impossible to reach.

    • Managed to start updater:
      22 Launcher Reboots.
      4 Retry’s ( Retry button didn’t appear most of the time )
      70~ mb/s Download speed.

    • WT suffer from the same issues as WOT though, they are both russian (ex soviet) devlopers and simply have a whole different corporate culture over there. We EU people will never be comfortable with their “standards” and mentality and this is a fact.

      • well i dont see nor have any issue with WT.
        the game runs perfect (way better than WoT AND it has better graphics) and all vehicles are in HD alrdy so no need to fucking WHAT download and extract it yourself?
        i guess thats what a launcher is for even for those stupid communists

        but anyways ill be glad when AW is here, finally an western developer :)

    • Simple, they dont have enough skilled programmers because nobody wants to move to shit Minsk and work for low wages. Similar to the situation in 3rd world countries, they lack infrastructure and skilled workers because the government and businesses dont want to invest in ICT and development.

      • programming is currently mostly done in India, since its damn cheap. in order to make good software you dont really need good programmers, however software architects are very important (and NOT cheap, but you need them very hard)

    • I have the same issue.

      I downloaded patch from torrent, which I then ran with launcher, which then downloaded ~6Mb of something extra and I have nice fucked up UI.

      Everything works but it’s ugly.

      • Downloading clean “res” folder from friend and see if it fixes it.

        EDIT: Launcher is now working for me, seems like it needs more downloads.

        2nd EDIT: Either clean “res” folder or extra package downloaded by launcher did the trick but now everything is back to normal.

  22. Great. It told me the update has issues, when I deleted the update folder content and started the game, there are a lot of UI errors.

  24. My Garage is fully corrupted, text includes programming stuff and its locations are chaotic throughout the garage, a complete mess.

  26. Same as the other guys, error while trying to download.
    Restarting multiple times and clearing update files doesnt help.

    • I had this too and fixed it by manually removing all patch files from the Updates folder. It will then proceed to download localization packages and it will work again.

  31. So I managed to download the patch after many launcher restarts and game seems fine when playing. I still have to restart the launcher many times before I can actually launch the game though

  32. Is anyone having freezes in the battle? I have them lasting for 10-25s!!! Ping appears to be normal but it is frustrating when driving a LT.

    • Yep, i have them too, with and without mods :( it is unplayable…

      10 seconds fine, then 10 seconds freeze…my fps and ping are highly improved when it works though so…that’s good at least

  33. I’ve had a look and it seems the textures in the HD texture pack are better than the old ones on maximum settings (though I’m not 100% sure if not having it installed results in worse quality than the old ones).

    They only apply to tanks with HD models though – tanks that haven’t been updated with HD models will look the same regardless of whether you install the pack or not.

    The textures in the pack seem to be about 2×2 times the resolution of the default ones in the 9.3 update – the difference is noticeable while zoomed in on 1920×1080 and visible at greater distances if you run the game at higher resolutions.

    • Delete everything from “world_of_tanks\update” folder and restart launcher as many times as needed so it starts to download ~10mega localization pack. After that it works like it should.

  36. i got a unusual issue… after the update downloaded and installed i got the second patch with localization and then when i launched the game i get: ” Game resource path does not exist: ./res/packages/vehicle_russian.pkg”. I’ve checked and the file doesn’t exist… i have all the other nations but the russian file is missing :( . can you please tell me, at least, how big is file? because i’m in a remote location and it will take 3-4 days until i can connect to a not restricted internet connection…

    • would be nice to have some sort of quality comparisson with and without the HD pack… im running 9.3eu without HD packs and I cant tell.. the HD modelled tanks already look so much better then old versions, and not just the polygon count

  40. Hello fellow tankers, I have the solution for you!

    Firstly thanks to Mr. Lemming on EU for helping us out with a quick post on the situation, kudos mate!

    So basically the Wargaming servers are a little overloaded and some people are getting the “WARNING! etc.” message when they try to update the game using the wot launcher, there is a way around this!

    All you need to do to get tanking asap is manually download the 1GB update patch file and move it into your wot updates folder, then run the launcher and it will start installing the new files, easy hey

    You can also just partly download the patch file and place it into your wot updates folder then run the launcher. It will show an error/incomplete message but simply click retry and off you go.

  42. I noticed that the Jagdpanther camopaint is messed up slightly.
    The gun has different resolution for the camo than the rest of the tank.

  43. Holy shit. It download with like 4 mb/s it normally does with 1,5 or something like that. I think it’s because of most players having troubles downloading while it connected normally for me and got faster download speed because of spare bandwidth

  44. I would love to enjoy this update, but every time I see those totally shitty, huge fireball effects (quite possibly made by a drunk 12 year old, using a cutout from a lowres youtube clip) I just puke…. Seriously, what the actual fuck they were thinking?

    • OK, I think I got it. I played just one game on all of my tanks that were just above 58% and they suddenly jumped over 65%. So it’s a new calculation where the new 65% equal the old 58%.
