Korreborg what are you trying to tell us by posting those videos with Leo shooting?
People are calling the sounds lame. But its because they have only heard guns i PC games, it’s the way cannons sound.
Yes, this may be how the guns sound in real life- however, the difference is in real life the intensity of the sounds is much higher.
Korreborg well the sounds are kinda lame because of the recording equipment. You need either something to sound perfect, or a team of audio artists to modify it.
That is not the exact real sound of a Leo in those videos you posted. Why? because different microphones record sound different and totally different if you change position of recording.
Take a look at this video. It’s a PKM, but imagine if it was a T-80 doing the shooting. http://vimeo.com/20869893
Look at 1:06 and compare it with 1:35 and 1:43. That is a PKM, recordings are 5m to the right and the result is 3 totally different PKM sound samples. And we’re not even talking about other positions such as let’s say audio recording directly about gun barrel.
Do you understand now why the videos you posted does not mean anything at all?
If WG has a serious team of sound artists (which i doubt) then they picked the crappies sounds they’ve recorded. That’s why DICE had a freaking dozen of microphones ready. To pick the best possible sound sample.
WG take probably was :
- hey let’s record some tank sounds!
- fk yea!!
- cool get your iphone 6 and let’s record some shit!
Wargaming sound department.
if you want real sounds, join the army hurr durr :P
If you want completely fake sounds rent a movie hurr durr :P
I think that now in patch 9.4 #2 sound is more environmental (echoes of gun firing) sound is not that flat anymore?
You’re right – most if not all of the guns have an echo from firing which was not audible in the previous set. This improves them significantly, and you can actually hear the differences between calibres at the larger end of the scale.
Personally, I would still like the heaviest guns to have a bit of a deeper “boom”, even if it’s “less accurate” to the real thing – a bit of embellishment for a game won’t hurt.
Yep, the MAIN MAIN MAIN reason why I didnt use default sounds is because of vacuum – you cant hear shit whats going on in 100m.
I actually like those sounds :)
These sounds are awesome – they took the good sound and turned up the volume… The high caliber (183mm deathstar) however sounds a little distorted?
Anyway I have a feeling that these new sounds are cleaned from echo effects which makes them sound not so impressive to the yournger audience when listening to the gunsound alone, however when all the maps get filled with echo-zones this will be added on a shot-by-shot basis depending on your location rather than just putting them on every shot…
I like where this is going…
76 mm seems OK, 100 mm is somewhat strange and both 152 and 183 mm are just meh. :-| :-D Why they can’t just go and record a couple of target shots by real tanks? :-)
Oh, I forgot, I like the environment echo – but echoed high caliber crap just stays crap. :-(
They better have some high-end recording tech to deal with blastwave :D
They are far better than the test 1. They could use some tweaks, but the direction they are going is the right one.
inb4 lots of whine~ *gives up*
demn echoes T3T
sounds are definitely not as good as they could probably be, but damn, they are way better than the current fake/generic/hollywood-blockbuster-gun sounds.
If you turn your volume to about max, the sounds actually sound okish.
Still the initial shot sound on the larger calibers, miss that hard and sharp ‘cracking’ sound in my opinion. In other words they sound still a bit too muffled in the initial sound fase.
I’m wondering if the sound changes depending on where you hear it from, i mean, if standing in front or by the side of the gun rather than behind it you’ll hear the same exact sound or a more “explosive” one.
IRL totally different sounds from sides, rear, and inside tank.
Are those new smoke effects, or have I just not played longer than I thought?
I noticed them too, pretty cool (except for the high calibers sounds)
The things is they added a lot of echo and stuff after the shot, but the shot itself on the big guns is still flimsy, i mean the big 152 derps and the tier 10 TD guns (plus E100 as well) should have a nice big punch to them.
The 183mm is very… tame, I dont love it but the sharpness of it is music to my ears
I dont care about the sound; I just hate it when i see in this video the diverence in à game with 50 fps, with high quality setting and my computer with 10 fps; and all the setting minimised or turned off….. ( And wondering why so manny start yelling at me becourse i am an big tomato with my stats).
I have no idea wtf you just wrote here.
Calculator doesnt run WoT? How terrible.
Time to swap that old Pentium IV with 32-bit XP from 2004 to a more modern one? Only if you plan on playing games, of course.
They should have something at least similar : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcUFYyo20eg
Granted it’s a modern gun but still much more impresive than the farts we have now
Yep. Every sane person knows that’s how tanks sound IRL too. Aka powerful bang. But there are some who think that 120mm guns sound like airsoft guns and insist on calling them realistic.
That didn’t sound any more powerful than the new game sounds.
The problem is that these sounds are all the same. They should differ at every caliber and every gun like in Gnomefather’s mod.
i dont like sound :\
Better. The added ambiance helps a lot, 100mm sounds punchier. 152 still sounds a bit weak, though.
All large calibers sounds like shit now … I hope they will change their mind before releasing this.
These are way better. This is how they sound with that echo.
I don’t see the issue with these gun sounds. Sounds like you’d expect after seeing news coverage of tanks firing, or watching old WWII footage. I think people are just so used to the Hollywood megabooms that they don’t like realistic sounding guns.
Love these new sounds; hope they keep them this time and don’t cave into the whining kids.
76 and 100mm sound better. High caliber ones are weird.
with these sounds we seem to kilometers distance from the tank cannon, should be a much higher noise
Eeh, seems better to me. Just hope the low calibers don’t sound like pistols still :\
note to the nagging people: the sounds are optional!!!!!!!(it’s a downloadable package)
you don’t have to use them!.. you can always stick to the way way way worse crap sounds that are in the game now..
or use gnome as long as you can.. (until they switch to a diff sound engine)
I feel they’re limited (technical term) just a bit too much. I’d like to see the sound settings of the person testing the sounds.
i like these sounds i think they are better then test1..but the echo is awsome one thing people don’t get if we have these sounds(and they keep working on them) they can only get better with every patch..i hope they do that but it’s right direction i like them
High calibers still kind of meh, and still all of them sound the same. That’s biggest problem.
These new sounds are big joke. That fags should try HR Gun Sound Mod…
I like them! They have more of that distinct CRACK sound…I want to hear velocity sounds of rounds.
and then 9.4 sounds. The 9.1 170mm and 183mm are very bass-y and thunderous, while the new ones are very very limp in comparison. Downright flappy even.
I’ve tried most of the Tier X medium and heavy tank guns on test 2, and I gotta say I don’t get the whining. The 100/105 mm guns sound great, especially with the echo effects and the crack of the high-velocity rounds. The heavy guns a bit less impressive for some reason, but still good. I can’t comment on the big TD and SPG guns, because I don’t play them, but they work for me in meds.

These sounds are just lame .
Anyone tested 203+ mm arty gun sounds? (especially T92 and CGC) Are they so lame too?
Okay so real is lame?
I uploaded a video to youtube of Leopard 2 tank, that fires 120mm Canister shells. http://youtu.be/BqKykQ7pHAs?t=1m45s
OBS there is 2 tanks! The swoosh sound is the tungsten pellets/bullits flying through the air. (fastforward to 1:45)
Found another one, with reload. 5,8 sec reload, and 10,3 sec between shots :)
http://youtu.be/rBhiQXpwGcw?t=50s
EDIT:
And a video about the canister round. Nasty shit if you are infantry.

You clearly never was on a tank shotting range.
And about 152 simple example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS_WxeNJ9o8
combine the 2 sounds to get something REALLY cool
