The option of T-34-85M actually NOT being the EU Christmas marathon tank rose once again, as Ectar made a snide remark of me “starting being known for posting false info” (referring specifically to the Insider articles), thus it’s completely possible the list of December missions was (unlike last months) loaded with placeholders in case of a leak. We’ll just have to see. But then, leaks never came with a guarantee, it is what it is.

Just to be sure, let me just explain you how this works real quick, so there is no misunderstanding. The Insider has access to developer conversations. It’s thus completely possible that he gets the wrong idea from some conversations, or connects the dots incorrectly (the female crews info turned out to be right, but were first thought to be a part of the recruit program and not the individual missions). Unless it’s an official statement by WG RU people (Storm, SerB, Evilly and others) or a supertest leak (those are so common now they are hardly leaks at all), there’s always a chance that the info is wrong or mixed. Even though I do my best to verify stuff from other sources, you’d be surprised of how much I did not post because it was simply unverifiable – a borderline example would be the recent Insider post, but since that particular insider was not the only source I heard the same piece of information from, I decided to leave that part of the Insider post there. On the other hand, you have WG staff claiming the opposite, so in the end, it’s only a choice of who you believe, nothing more).

I sort of hoped I wouldn’t need to explain all this again, but… okay. I think most of you guys understood even before this post, but just to be sure.

Now, to news.

Just in case you missed it – 9.5 common test comes tomorrow.

- SerB states he cannot comment on the company monetary policy of tying the prices to USD (SS: a player was complaining about price increases on RU server, caused by sharp ruble drop compared to USD)
- SerB states that the three caliber rule is not a myth, it works
- T37 hitpoints are given by “complex of characteristics” (a balance parameter)
- more lowtier Soviet tanks are not planned for now, it’s possible some will be released as some sort of reward/event tank


- Storm states that he’s aware that patch 9.5 doesn’t have that much content, but at least there will be some lag and freeze fixes, along with the RAM and GPU memory use fixes, that will come as well
- Havok will not come in 9.5, the deadlines have been missed
- Storm consider FPS drops in the game more serious than average FPS in general, that’s why they focused on those in 9.5
- the FV215b 183 changes consist of mobility nerf, but turret armor buff
- there will not be any compensation for the FV215b 183 changes
- the minimap in 9.5 KTTS video looks odd, because the video was made “using the old version”
- the new minimap has higher performance than its XVM equivalent, makes the FPS drop only a little, although Storm notes that for final result a test on many PC’s is needed
- the tank names on minimap (size-wise) will be “XVM standard” (SS: I don’t use that, so I can’t tell)
- the changes on Mountain Pass are apparently, mild: “a bush was removed for example”
- apparently, world-wide Blitz release will be tomorrow
- T-34-85M will be sold in shop on RU server
- regarding the Individual Missions, Evilly specifically confirms that the ending of first season does not mean the missions will no longer be available, it just means that another set of missions will activate in addition to the first one
- Storm confirms: STA-2 will not have limited MM
- apparently, Scorpion will arrive in the game not in 9.5, but “later”
- IM’s will most likely appear on 9.5 test, but in simplified form
- the “flattening” of maps concerns small terrain irregularities, that do not influence gameplay, but make the driving and aiming worse (SS: isn’t that a contradiction?)
- IM’s will be published in a special article, soon
- Sixth Sense rework (tied to radioman) will come in “one of the upcoming patches”
- apparently, the Firefly tracks (just like the Fury ones) are inverted (the grousers should be opposite), this will be fixed
- 9.5 will not bring the FV4202 switch or the Chieftain

    • Nobody knows what devices are compatible, according to WG’s official list of compatible devices my Oppo Find5 is compatible but Google play claims that it’s not.

      my 4 year old Samsung Galaxy SII LTE (SII 1/2) is compatible though.

          • 1.5 is the worldwide launch for the android version, as stated on the news inside the game.
            PS: you can install and play it even outside the small official zone it was made available, i know i’m from romania and i am playing it for more than a week :)

  9. Considering that there is pretty much only one important bush on Mountain Pass, the changes won’t be subtle, as the northern team can no longer snipe over the center without getting spotted.
    As for the t37, it’s the only t6 scout that gets overmatched EVERYWHERE so I guess the 670hp is fair

    Very possible indeed – you can look at the upcoming missions to see there won’t be medium ones like in a leak.

    Not really, just look where they drive in KTTS – for example on the hill leading to middle of Fisherman’s Bay. Nobody really stops to fight there (you rush through or avoid it, since you are SO in open), but if the rare case of engagement happens, it’s uncomfortable for both sides.

    • It’s not a contradiction, because nobody ever said: “There is this spot in the open, when I sit behind this twig, I have hard time shooting people but they can hit me easily, I will so abuse that”.

      Gameplay is when you define your tactics around specific map feature. They just fixed things that make your gun go wonky when trying to fire on the move at something.

  14. I just discovered that SS and his actions are more interesting to me than the WOT it self. I love WOT but I adore this “games” by SS. SS man, you’ve started to sound like a WG person, and I say this in a positive way, your entire life is tied to this, you are our main analyst and prophet. I love this little “war” you have with WG, and I love the fact that WG is NOT an asshole to stop you from fighting them. Best of all is the incredible propaganda and the “push” WOT gets. I honestly believe that WG should have a chit-chat with you and give you a very nice salary. However I really really love FTR as a “social network” and a great source of fun, drama and info!!!

    • How do you know he isnt getting paid by them? Would be a genius move to have an alleged insider publishing exclusive data that are however unconfirmed for impatient players :).

    • You should have in mind that WG does not care about EU, so it’s inprobable that they would pay to stop spreading rumors there :D

      • SS influences entire planet, not just Europe! The fact that SS is shaming WG for their numerous errors and stupidities on EU server, makes me believe he’s already compensated by WG, but I don’t give a shit. I love SS and I love his “trolling” but I must admit that I love Serb and his trolling (no quote marks here).I would love for SS to get on WG payroll, because he deserves it much much much more than some EU WG employees. On the other hand he would be a bit handicapped, but with his “common, come and kill me” style, in the end, we would profit from SS going “legal”. All in all, if SS becomes WG’s, we’ll see him and Serb drinking stronk beer from bellybuttons of some strippers soon :) :) :)

    Well I think it’s a shame you didn’t. It really allows to focus more on the game itself rather than who was camping where. It’s neither accurate to the point of allowing blindshots all the time (although obvious campers get even more obvious), not was it deemed “illegal” except by some dudes from the famously reliable WGEU. But it does avoid the “Where was that WT E-100 douchebag camping ?” that gets you killed in late-game, because of some guy’s anti-sport behaviour. You can install it standalone without the stats/chance part if you like.

    • I am generally trying to avoid mods altogether. The original reason for that was that I was too lazy looking for patch updates. And of course, relying on third party software that could be made obsolete with next patch… I didn’t want to get into that.

  18. Very happy Storm considers FPS drops important. Even though I have a 1 year old laptop, I play on the lowest graphics and with little or no sound, and still have lag problems. So who cares if Havok change comes if it brings with it any FPS drops.

    Keep up the great work SS. Even with the faked leaks, you publish funny and interesting stuff. Aside from the personal attacks, love the comments too.

    Yea, sure – until they realise, that noone is buying that tank and it will get the limited MM 2 patches later. We don’t have to look to far in the history – T-34-3 and Mutant are great examples.

  22. I suppose we can’t complain about leaks/rumors not being always true. Too bad tho, I had already planned on buying all the last T6/7 mediums I don’t have this weekend and elite at least some of them before the christmas event to progress onwards to T8+ … guess I’ll switch to plan B of massive credit farming till 25 December.

    Would be nice if we could get an official monthly calendar of specials :/
