Thanks to whoever sent this to me (accidentally deleted the original e-mail).
Check this out – this is how soldiers trained in Portugal. They had a Patton tank drive over them, trying to avoid being crushed to a pulp while trying to touch the vehicle tracks. The video is from 1990′s and the action starts around 0:50.
What is this training good for? Although it may be fun for some tank drivers to crush enemy soldier bones by driving over them, likely one would use the machine gun to shoot instead. Also it is dangerous to let hostile soldiers get so near to the own tank, those that do this willingly likely have an explosive device by them.
“avoid being crushed” ?
Probably to lose some fear of the tank. To make you understand that it cannot crush you by just being there.
90′s, 3rd world country. What do you expect? they have to justify it somehow.
No sane driver will try to drive over a terrorist looking at the tank like he’s preparing something for him. It can easily be an ambush into mines, rpg’s, satchel charges you name it. And even if a tank driver is angry enough to want to ride over an enemy soldier, he would zig zag it’s tank alot. Good luck dodging that :)
Kinda worthless training. Alot of german tanks in WW2 suffered from getting too close to the infrantry and the lack of MG’s.
Portugal, third world country? Get your facts right before posting right out of your intestines.
>portugal
>3rd world country
pick one
Both you and the anonymous fella are retarded or flunked big time in geograpy…
First 90′s is not that far back as you make it sound, merely 25-15 years. Second Portugal is not the richest country but it’s by far no third world country where the f*ck did you get that information from?
You do realise this training is for the infantry soldiers and not for the tank driver, right?
This training is for the soldier, not the tank. It’s to get the soldier used to the idea that they can get close enough to touch a moving tank without fear.
With that capability they, the soldier, may be able to track an armored vehicle at least.
Why on earth would you think this was tank training??
THIS…IS…PORTUGAAAAAAAALL!!!!!!!!
(My country of birth)
I wish they would buff the M48 in game. It’s so mediocre.
Indeed,they should buff it.
Buff would be nice to any of the following: camo value, speed, front ammo rack, big weak cupola, in that order. M48 is in lower half when comparing to other MD, but that don’t mean its a bad tank, I personally like playing it (don’t burn me!).
Still it have good depression, powerful gun and BEST IN GAME VIEW RANGE!
only other T10 MD i played is T-62A, and i fail on it horribly… FPS mind set do that to you, T-62A is great for Rush, M48 isn’t best choice but there are other ways to support your team.
I think that (many ppl wont agree :D) i play both of them as they were designed, unfortunately nature of random games and human nature is that “we” don’t like to take risks. Even most basic group tactic “Zerg” is affected by that fear in wot, and Lemming train was born…
>best view range.
same as WTE100 because “balance”
Truly bonkers. But relatively safe. Sleeping babies in their cribs can pass this very easily.
most babies could just stand there and have enough clearance
Haha, true :D
Good training – make a mistake and you might end up in hospital.
“Hey, look, no hands!”
More likely DEAD
Portuguese Ex-Special forces Paratrooper here…
Very Common Training in Portuguese special Forces…
Infantry / Tanks interaction training is very important so you know how to react in the battlefield…

No training is like the real battlefield without any apparent rules.
In [GOP] before play WOT we must make this train… :-)
Yeap, just another regular day on [GOP] training. Nothing to see here… :)
3:58 guy gets bitchslapped by instructor :-)
hehe ye best moment of the clip :D
i watched this fragment few times BC i didnt get why hes doing it.
From what it look like, soldier didnt touch tracks, but pretended he did, and Instructor reacted on his unsubordination.
funny stuff all the same! :D
-.-’ you see one movie and u have no idea what that means…
1- the tank is a M60 A3 TTS
2- thats not part of a train for tankers… but for parachutist. where they train to put some kind of explosive device under the tank or in the tracks.
3- pretty sure that movie was made around 2002 and 2006.
Watching a video like this makes you realise how weird the size scaling is in WoT, some benches seem to be made for giants. It makes small tanks seem smaller than they really are.
Just tank fear removal, perfectly normal in many armies.
Here’s a Finnish example.

Though I have to say that lying in front of a BMP seems like nothing compared to lying in front of a huge MBT rolling you way.
Damn, those are some squeaky tracks. :P
Nothing special about that, they all do this (special forces) look at 9:00+ min.

OK I’ll be first: I would fucking shit myself.
That game is for people with NO imagination.
During my training I almost left my AR magazine under the track. I somehow managed to press the release lever when holding the rifle against my chest while rolling out of tank’s way. Luckily I noticed this early enough to have time to grab it back :)
