- it looks like the T92 will not be the tier 8 American light tank after all
- SerB wasn’t the WG vice-president in the beginning, he got promoted from the position of lead game designer
- after the chat is reworked, the clanmembers will apparently recieve the status of a “friend”, when it comes to the question, whether you can recieve a whisper (PM) from them or not

- after 8.7 the MM is working fine, according to SerB
- SerB on historical battles: “Correctly made historical mode is somewhat complicated. We are working on that. Wait for announcements, there will be tests of some of its elements (including those, that will not be most likely implemented in the end, but most of the players want them, because they don’t know how will they look in the game)”
- the chance to set the already burning tank on fire again is technically the same, of course it’s a bit different with destroyed fueltanks (it’s easier to do that once they are damaged), but that’s not a process based on probability
- Object 416 will be balanced “as usual”
- the tier 9 new Soviet med branch problem is caused by general lack of data, not only the drawings
- it’s possible that the Israeli centurion (Sho’t Kal) did fire HESH rounds in real life (SS: this is not related to WoT, player asked because of some movie)
- Nuclear-powered tanks (such as the TV-8) will not be implemented into the game
- FV4202 is doing fine statistically
- Germans did experiment with uranium penetrators in real life (SS: but not depleted uranium, simply uranium, it was a program to compensate for the lack of tungsten)
- when a gun damages a module (with the “damage to modules” being a hidden stat), this damage is also subjected to +/-25 RNG (SS: in other words, damage to modules is known to be roughly equal to gun caliber, so a 100mm gun does 100 damage to module HP, but this 100 damage in reality is 75-125)
- it’s possible that the WoWp tier 1 airplanes will also come with 100 percent crew in the future
- WG has a special deparment, that tracks the economy situation in the game (for example the game being too overflooded with silver due to too generous awards)
- the aforementioned department also makes sure that there is no inflation in the game at all
- there will be some training room filter re-work (to make looking for training rooms easier), “it’s done when it’s done”
- E-100 150mm gun uses HEAT shells and not subcaliber ones, because the barrel is not long enough for subcaliber shells (SS: subcaliber penetrators, being smaller from definition, are easier to influence by outside environment need longer barrel to reach higher velocities to be accurate enough, otherwise they fly all over the place)
- the crew member uniform pictures will not be changed (SS: as in, Bundeswehr uniforms looked different than Wehrmacht ones)
- LTP means “Legkij Tank Provornova – Provornov’s light tank” – it’s named after its designer
- IS-7 is not underpowered according to SerB
- the reason the SU-85B has worse depression than SU-76 despite the chassis being the same is the gun (SS: the breech, being larger, often interferes with that)
- there might be special rewards (“high level content”) also for players not playing CW’s, but it won’t be “for free” (as in, easy to get)
- SerB states it’s virtually impossible to create a game where planes and tanks fight each other on one map, he states that even War Thunder developers, who initially promised such a thing, are slowly and silently backing down from that concept (SS: actually, the question was about WoT players being able to play against War Thunder players, but I think SerB got confused and answered something else)
- Separate server for training, with everything for free and 0 costs of repairs? “And what’s in it for us? :)” (SS: Storm answered, not SerB)

Actually, it was said earlier by SerB that Storm got so pissed with whiners that he started appearing less and less in the Q&A thread, which is true – he didn’t answer stuff in ages.

        • M65 Atomic Cannon, made before anyone thought that the gunners would could be killed from radiation.

M28 Davy Crockett, nuclear tipped recoilless rifle, because everyone like seeing nuclear explosions up close!

          • To be true, many of contemporary guns are capable of firing nuclear ammunition, the example being M109A6 Paladin howitzer.
And Davy Crockett? It was carried really small warhead and was supposed to be used along the West-East Germany border in the event of Warsaw Pact attack, to create irradiated no-man’s land and give NATO time to mobilize and regroup armies. It wa pretty extreme, but viable strategy.

            • Yeah, tacnukes getting small enough to be fired out of regular artillery pieces was the direct reason the specialised ridiculously large “nuclear cannon” getting tossed into the dustbin.

Anyways, IIRC the WP planners actually expected NATO to use strategic nuclear weapons against the major Central European river crossings to make it more difficult to shift units to the front… and I understand both sides pretty much took it for granted in their projections that tactical nuclear weapons would be liberally employed against troop concentrations while apparently West German bridges tended to get built with discreet compartements to hide nuclear mines in.

Cold War planning was some scary stuff and apparently tended to make the people involved a tad uneasy about the whole thing.

    • Unlikely, full-on reactors are big things and don’t scale down too well. They’re basically high-tech steam engines when you get down to it. Unless they were being *really* optimistic about both the degree of miniaturisation possible and containement measures for the working fluid some manner of RTG ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioisotope_thermoelectric_generator ) would seem a more likely choice – if nothing else they’re way more compact and less convoluted about producing actual usable power.

      • There was a really “fun” project of atomic bomber in USA in 1950s’. Bottom line – you needed comparatively big reactor to be able to power an aircraft, but with the size and energy output of the reactor, the ammount of radiation also increases, so there is a need for heavier shielding, which means that you need even more power to be able to lift that shielding. So you need even more power, producing even more radiation, resulting in even heavier shield… It’s a vicious circle.

        • Nah, they actually built a prototype. (IIRC so did the Soviets.) See here for more if interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_aircraft

The problem was basically that as the shielding was kind of heavy they could only put in what spacecraft engineering AFAIK calls a “shadow shield”, ie. a plate between the radiation source and the sensitive parts rather than the full-coverage job normally used. This protected the crew and electronics just fine but no great genius is required to realize it was going to be terribly unsafe for everyone around, particularly the ground crews, on an airfield…

And then there was Project Pluto – not to be confused with the WW2 cross-Channel fuel pipe – which got plain creepy once they figured out the unshielded engine and supersonic shockwaves would make the airframe itself a rather effective weapon…

          • They did built a prototype, but it wasn’t nuclear-powered. It was just an aircraft with small nuclear reactor onboard. Same with Russian one. They both weren’t powered by the reactor.

            • The reactor they’ve used was just too weak to power the ariplane. At the same time any larger reactor would be deadly to the crew.

    • The Engines hit, it’s gonna blow!

      BOOM!

“ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED”

      • Actually, it would be:

        BOOM!

“ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED, ENEMY DESTROYED”

And then “The engine’s on fire! Put it out!”.

      • Uhh, why? Nuclear reactors =/= nuclear bombs. When Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant had its meltdown, did 20 million Japanese people die from an explosion?

Nuclear reactors use fuel which is around 15% fissile material, whilst nuclear bombs are 99% fissile. You can’t just turn a nuclear power reactor into a bomb like that. The worst that would happen is that radioactive material would leak all over the battlefield, which would affect tank crews, infantry, and the local wildlife.

  1. IS-7 is not underpowered according to SerB? Well it is.. and as a bonus apart from everything else it has a tasty ammorack.

    • Well the only thing it needs is 50-100 hp more, other than that it’s a very good tank

    • Im amazed that there are still people that believe in this bull that IS-7 is underpowered.

      • It’s not that it is underpowered. It’ just that more retards are getting the tank, and they fail miserably and cry that it is UP.

        • It’s not that it is underpowered. It’ just that more retards are getting the tank, and they fail miserably and cry that it is UP.

          This pretty much describes Kage_no_Akki_13

        • This is what happens when people go around saying Russian Bias and saying that all these Russian tanks are OP.

Bad players will play them, have no clue what they are doing and blame the tank because in their head: OP tank = I can own everyone = I can’t be owned by anyone = I amazing at game!!!

And then they find out that the russian tanks aren’t OP they are simply better suited for the style of battle that tends to happen in WOT which when people play other nations use them improperly against a russian (Like taking a Tiger and close range brawling with an IS-3) and get owned they think that russians are OP and then never learn how to play.

  2. So…if by any chance the TV8 will be added in-game, when you destroy it, doesn’t that mean that you will destroy the entire battlefield? Or at least kill all crews by radiation.

Any idea which tier 10 will be the next one discounted? Checking all WoT portals every 5 mins to find that info…so far nothing.

    • Raditaion doesn’t work that way. *Especially* through thick steel hulls.

    • “doesn’t that mean that you will destroy the entire battlefield?” – no, that’s not how nuclear power works.

  3. (SS: actually, the question was about WoT players being able to play against War Thunder players, but I think SerB got confused and answered something else)

WTF? This wins for the most retarded question I have ever seen in your translations…

  4. SU-85B has worse depression because of the breech? How, exactly?…the thing has no roof for it to bump gainst. The gun can be lowered enough to touch the hull in theory :).

    • Doesn’t work ONLY that way of course. You also have to consider the recoil force direction, the way breech opens, there might be some other component blocking the movement etc etc etc…

  5. - LTP means “Legkij Tank Provornova – Provornov’s light tank” – it’s named after its designer

8.7 media have updated the USSR tree with the LTP under special and gift tanks. Pity it’s another premium Soviet LT when the British and French still don’t have one.

  6. SerB states it’s virtually impossible to create a game where planes are tanks fight each other on one map

Ok, so let’s pretend Battlefield series never happened.

      • The main diffrence is that in BF3 so can you only fly jets (and helicopters) and those are inherintly akward for doing ground attacks with, so can’t that easily dominate the ground. But WW2 planes fly a lot slower, are a lot more suitable for ground attacks and it’s trivial to kill tanks with them. There would have to be AA tanks added and a lot of the tank players have to use them for it to be even remotely balanced. It will be a real challange to balance the asymetrial game between tanks and planes.

    • You would need:

      - huge maps (because planes turn wide in big speeds)
      - players willing to drive these maps in slow tanks
      - AA tanks and stuff, because otherwise the planes would be too OP
      - players for said AA stuff
      - intertwined economy for both
      - HUGE rebalancing
      - quite big redesign of the whole backend, because they are quite specific for both clients ATM and would need further optimalising

Go on and do it. I am sure many will play it, wondering for what cost, though.

      • You could always have the tanks in much smaller portion of the map, than the airplanes abowe. Something like in current WT state, where tanks generally start relatively close, planes being more apart. And AAA already exist in WT.

    • He also forgets arma and planetside, but maybe its impossible for Wargaming because there client still only supports a single core doing all the processing, what is this…the stone age?

      • I wonder why are you even here… If you hate the game/developer so much, stop playing WoT. I mean, WG is not without flaws, same goes for WoT, and I can see why you and few others don’t like it. But if it angers you so much, then why bother with the game? You have WT, Planetside, Battlefield – go play those if you don’t like WoT/WG.

Of course there is also the possibility of you being a masochist, doing what is painful for you (please stop bitching if this is true, and enjoy your pain in silence) or you are just a hater with nothing better to do (sad life, you should do something more constructive)…

        • Bitching? merely informing, and its true, am I not? No multicore support in an era like this? Dont you find that backwards? Or cant you put down your drone like agendas and actually acknowledge stuff. I really only keep an eye on WoTs for future US mediums.

          And informing drones.

          • Informing people abou things they already know is not informing, just stating the obvious. And you are bitching. For the way the game works at the moment, single core is sufficient. That will change when features like Havok are released and that’s when multicore support will come.

            Bitch on, Captain Obvious.

    • Battlefiels is different. You dont have tanks. You have infantry that can control tank and aircraft and AA and naval power (BF 1942) fighting in an FPS map. It is not the same thing.

      • indeed. there is also a maximum amount of tanks/planes on the maps. mostly infantry.

    • Except planes and tanks dont fight with eachother on the map in battlefield games. So you are same kind of idiot who asked that retarded question to SerB.

  7. “Actually, it was said earlier by SerB that Storm got so pissed with whiners that he started appearing less and less in the Q&A thread, which is true – he didn’t answer stuff in ages.”

I am kinda glad SerB still does. Needs a specific “character” for that and while he is viewed as a troll in the community, I m mostly glad he answers at all.

    • I think it’s a bit of a miracle he didn’t rage quit already. After some shit I’ve seen on EU forum (and RU forum is probably similar) I would’ve probably told people to just fuck off long time ago.

      • Well, the “how terrible…” and such are basically coping mechanisms for him, so that’s how he keeps answering.

      • Agreed. You could’ve chosen a more original name though…

It’s a shame there are so many retards. It would be nice to have more devs answering the questions, more points of view are always a good thing.

  8. “it would be too hard to have tanks and planes on one map”
    *Looks at Battlefield*
    …Okay…

    • look harder, spot the differences and come to a non biased conclusion. thx.

      • BF3 planes don’t have 250-500-1000 kg bombs under their wings. Plus amount of vehicles is very limited (2-3 tanks, 1-2 jets usually), which make things less problematic. BF3 is infantry-centric game, and it was designed as it is – respawns, low numbers of vehicles, infantry have good enough weapons to deal with tanks/planes.

        • Forget the BF series, go to the original MMOFPS named WWIIOnline released June 2001. Rebadged Battleground Europe (battlegroundeurope.com) and is still playable 12 years after its initial shakey release.

A game where a Tiger is a Tiger. On one 1/2 scale map of North Eastern Europe, Infantry, AAA, AT Arty, trucks, Tanks, Fighters, Bombers and Ships.

  9. - Nuclear-powered tanks (such as the TV-8) will not be implemented into the game.

When destroyed, +100% of radiation poisoning within 600 meters.

  10. “- after 8.7 the MM is working fine, according to SerB”

What an idiot … as if it was impossible to set up a script to detect anomalous combinations such as teams not having same number of top tier tanks (I have a screenshot from a couple of days ago when enemy team had three tier 7 vehicles and ours had 2) even though teams were supposed to get same tier vehicles in top 5 roster slots. Needless to say there were plenty more battles (I also have screenshots of those) where one team had 2 top tier tanks more than the other, but these were below slot #5, such as:

    - enemy team getting Stug III and T49 in place of M3 Lee and Matilda on my team (battle with tier 5 on top)
    - enemy team getting AT 8, Churchill GC, Hellcat and JgPzIV versus our BDR G1B, Churchill 1, M4 and Pz4 (battle with tier 6 on top)

    • What server are you on?

MM always gets cocked up for the first day or two after a patch launches, and then normalizes itself afterwards.

      • Yeah, like my game last week? Me with my T69 as a top and enemy had IS (yeah, that T7) as the top tank. 3PM. Like that was great balanced game.

  11. Yeah, what Serb meant about the difficulty of planes and tanks was that they can not do it. They lack the talent needed on the developer side, and they lack a capable engine to do this, it’s still a single core engine, and it’s we’re half-way through 2013… LOL. They can’t even get multi-channel sound right.

I wish a real AAA developer made a game to compete with WoT, and people got to see what a real game engine can do in regards to this type of game.

Poor storm too. You can’t take people giving feedback on your service? How terrible… bitch.

    • You having problem with writing properly is quite obvious, but I hoped you could at least read.

Storm didn’t quit because of bad feedback, but because of idiots like you who just complain without a real reason. And ‘i was killd by atrhy, nerfz it’, or similar shit, is not even a real complaint, it’s just whining of a little child incapable of using brain.

      • You have no room to talk about “writing”, in which I’m better than you at as shown. You typed ” it’s just whining of a little child incapable of using brain”. Using THEIR brain, moron. If you’re going to rag on writing style at least don’t make errors in what you write…. LOL.

        • I didn’t rage about your writing, just pointed it out. And I never said I could write better than you (even though I can – oops, now I said it, but I still make mistakes – less than you, but I do). The same goes for reading.

I raged about you being an idiot and a whiner. And you are. You can try to deny it all night long, but it won’t change the way things are.

          Whine on, noobity.

          • Poor fail internet meme got mad because he got put into place after talking trash. Fail.

To the anon person, I do complement and discuss where need be. I like how “zomg they don’t like something, thus their whiners” is a common theme these days. “I just don’t like that color too much”… “ZOMG HATER POS”. Let me fix my posts for you; WG is the best ever, there will never be anything better, it’s awesome that serb calls the germans liars as a race. LOL@U.

And this kellomies is a sad, pathetic nut-hugging troll who is in love with a faceless corp.

Nothing to see here, carry on.

            • I wouldn’t have said a thing if you disliked few things and for a reason which wasn’t similar to something vomited at us by spoiled five years old child.

You, on the other hand, bitch about everything. No real reason for bitching, just crying out how everything is shit.

I have a little proposal for you – Use other websites for your highly constructive criticism and feedback of the highest quality. That way, your highness won’t be subjected to brainwashed followers of faceless corporations and pathetic trolls.

And buy a dictionary and few textbooks.

              :*

          • “Nothing to see here”? Surely you jest, sir – someone making an utter fool out of himself in public without realising it has since time immemorial been an universally recognised source of public entertainment!

        • Gino, all I ever see you post on here is whining, bitching and insulting people. Don’t you have anything more useful to contribute?

          • I think by now it has become abundantly clear that, sadly, the only thing he has to offer the world is taking responsibility for his fundamental misanthropy, ugliness and failure by honourably committing seppuku with a keyboard.

            • LOL, another internet tough guy. At least you can talk back on the internet without worrying about getting stuffed into your locker punk.

    • OK, mister Tech Priest. Tell me what engine they should use. Also, explain to me why this is SUCH a big deal for you. Cant get steady fps?

  12. - SerB states it’s virtually impossible to create a game where planes and tanks fight each other on one map, he states that even War Thunder developers, who initially promised such a thing, are slowly and silently backing down from that concept

Pavel Kulikov, the Executive Producer of War Thunder reveals some details of the project: «In our PC version of the game we progressively implement ‘all-vs-all’ gaming modes, where we have air forces, ground forces and naval units fighting simultaneously on the same battlefield. Firstly, we’ve introduced combat aircraft, with tanks and warships to come very soon.

    • What are you doing here, then? Go play quasi real WT and stop bothering us…

        • -1 for you and nyan cat. People can play BOTH, deal with it. God you nut huggers are disgusting anymore. So in love with a faceless corp that you’ll defend them at all costs. The only way things will get better is if people express their dislike for something. That’s a fact.

          • …and doing so in a random blog that isn’t even in a language the actually relevant people seem to read much sure is going to achieve much, hmmmm? (Also wtf is ” you nut huggers are disgusting anymore” supposed to mean, aside from you failing grammar?)

            • Since you’re so high and mighty:
              Stockholm Syndrome
You and many others exhibit a form of this in regards to Wargaming.
              Come get some more.

            • Ohhhh, this is getting good… Please explain in what manner have “we” been taken hostage by WG at gunpoint?

You didn’t answer my question BTW.

          • Never said you couldn’t play both. I just don’t see a point in playing game one dislikes so much. You have to be either a masochist or a sad little existence called hater.

Next time don’t put words into my mouth, thanks.

  13. “Actually, it was said earlier by SerB that Storm got so pissed with whiners that he started appearing less and less in the Q&A thread, which is true – he didn’t answer stuff in ages.”

    how terrible ;)

  14. - after 8.7 the MM is working fine, according to SerB
X tier heavy tanks are still replaced for X tier artys in 0.8.7. According to some of the previous Q&A that is not desired. So they simply don’t know how to fix that and it became fine. GJ WG!

  15. The MM is not fine according to me, and the reason for that is the uneven type of vehicles in the team. One team can have 13 heavys and 1 TD and 1 medium, while the other team can have 7 TDs, 3 artys, and the rest mediums. This is plain bullshit, and of course players complain when there are 7-8 TDs in one team, facing a team with only 1 low tier TD and the rest heavys or mediums.

They say MM balance tanks with weight, I really question that, specially when you get those bullshit platoons with funny tanks.

8.7 MM is worse than 8.6, and that might be due to the increased artys in 8.7. In late night, it isnt rare to see 20-30 artys in queue in MM, and 80 lt, mt, ht and TD. The wors I have had is 10 artys in queue, 9 artys on one side, and 1 on the other, and this was in 8.7!

  16. - SerB states it’s virtually impossible to create a game where planes and tanks fight each other on one map

wtf i think i had play a game where soilder vs tank vs plane vs heli and more… battlefield ?? so why is he saying its impossible?

    • Think a little and see why that aint that good of an idea. Notice the big differences between BF and WoT/ WoWp and WT.

  17. I can verify the fact that israeli centurion tanks (Shot Kal), did in fact used hash shells.
This link – http://mendele.co.il/?wpsc-product=shafuybedamesek , leads to the first chapter in a book about the Yom kipur war, where the narrator say they got only 12 hesh (meich – מעיך) and 4 HEAT shells for each centurion (צנטוריון) tank (instead of the full 72 shells).
