Test 8.10: Regular Vehicles

Hello everyone,

what follows is the list of new regular tanks in 8.10 and their parameters in game. Please note that in the final release (and possibly round 2 of the test, scheduled for 12.12.2013), the color of Japanese tanks will change to green. The armor scheme posted is that of the elite version.

Warning: this post is also very picture heavy.

  1. In some (!) situations the STB-1 feels like the Pre-Nerf M48..

The DPM – plus that epic depression – is just too high for a Medium…

If nothing gets changed until full release the STB-1 will flood the T10-Randoms like the pre-nerf M48 did.

    Just my 2 cents

  2. STB-1 6.75 sec reload with vents rammer and 100% crew with no BIA. Obj430 is worse grind for me..worse gun of tier 10 russian meds New nice gun mantlet for E50M and nice graphic improvements (motion blur or something like that) And 819k free xp for convert for new jap line :)

  3. That tumor on Tier 9 Japanese. I hope they will buff Patton, because clearly, STB is almost identical to Patton’s stats, and the patton’s pride of turret armor will be obsolete with STB minus cupola.

    • The tumor won’t matter, you can shoot straight through the gun mantlet and pen with 200mm pen guns.

      • That is not 100% true. If you set all the angles just right you can bounce KV-2 AP shells (Even premium) off the mantlet. However that specific spot to bounce the shells is so small it is not going to happen ever in a regular battle.

I even specifically tired to bounce shots at extreme angles off the side of the turret and regular KV-2 AP went right in. The Tier 9 is as soft as butter and 90% of shells will go though it like a hot knife.

The poor thing needs another 100-200 hit points at least.

        • The KV-2′s 152 mm derp only have 110/135 mm pen with AP/premium AP so if you have to angle to bounce that… your armor sucks pretty bad.

  4. So. Is there a reason to take medium Chi-Ha rather than light Chi-Ha? +10mm front and +20 health don’t really seem worth losing the camo bonus – is there anything else I didn’t notice?

    • T-43 : 144mm
      PzV/M10: 150mm
      VK3002D: 150mm
      T20: 160mm

What do you want from tier7 med ?????

      • If a “medium” tank is the size of a KT and fails to keep up with a T29 without having any armor to speak of I expect it to mount some kind of wunderwaffe, not the same peashooter as the small and mobile mediums.

Remember that the **** Comet have thicker armor than the Chi-Ri

  5. Heh, 30 hull armor on a tier 1? I can see machine gun sprayers and even some cannon users getting their panties in a very tight bunch indeed.

Sure is going to be sluggish because of all that weight though, with its piddly 8.somethinglow hp/ton.

O430 v2 looks alright. More gun depression and armor in exchange for a bit less mobility and a likely large hit in camouflage rating. The top gun looks like it’s going to have the same primary issue as the 107 on the A-44 does; too long of aim time. At least it is (somewhat) accurate once it does finally aim in (definitely better than the ridiculous 0.45 on the A-44), and the tank does have some armor to protect it while it’s aiming. Particularly the turret, jeez.

And hey, the M-63 is still a viable option, in case the D-54 doesn’t work out. It’s admittedly overkill on the tier 8 tank, should feel right at home on the tier 9. Does it get a RoF boost in the different turret?

  6. Hmmm, tier 9 and 10 semms to be much better than pta and Leo 1. Better traverse, better rof, better armour, only top speed is worse. Where is justice? And why every new tier 8 med has ~220 pen?

    • And why every new tier 8 med has ~220 pen?
      _________
Power creep mate? Same as with all new T10s being blatantly OP compared to old school tanks.

  7. Will be nice to see more variety but I don’t really see why we needed 2 more soviet mediums in that branch . Japanese tanks will need to see in action to form an opinion really.

  8. The Gun Experimental 57 mm Tank Gun Shin on the Tier 4 Type 98 Ke-Ni is better then then the 5 cm KwK 39 L/60. Sure rof is slightly less (on paper) and acc is a hairline less but overall I feel it is a much better gun. And should be a lot of fun at Tier 4.

  9. We’re all comparing the high tiers, but that T2 med – low pen, highest alpha and RoF out of the non-autocannon guns – in the hands of a gold user… my god.

    • True but it is also interesting to look at the 37mm’s as well. On the light tank the 37mm at Tier 2 is better then the Medium Tanks version of the same gun. Which is a little bit funny.

However the 57mm is also on the Light Tank with is both faster and more maneuverable. And since the armor on both is not that great I would go with the Light Tank for the faster turret, tracks and top speed. The Light Tank has 6 deg per sec better turret. 10 kph better top speed. Weighs less. 6 deg better Transverse at the track.

Spamming gold on the 57mm should be interesting.

Gun 5.7 cm Gun Type 97
      Caliber (mm) 57mm
      Rate of Fire (rounds/min) 17.65
      Average Penetration (mm) 29/55/28
      Average Damage (HP) 75/75/95
      Accuracy at 100 m (m) 0.5
      Aiming Time (s) 2.1
      Weight (kg) 150

      Ammo for the 57mm
      AP 22-37 penn / 56-94 damage / 15c a shot
      HE-AT 41-69 penn / 56-94 damage / 2g or 800c a shot
      HE 21-39 penn / 71-119 damage /20c a shot

The light tank is better then the medium in every way if your going to load the gold. It also has the light tank camo bonus as well. View range is the same on both tanks at 300m.

  10. Wow. Unbelievably bad accuracy up to Tier 7. I don’t think the gun depression will help there.

But, of course, from Tier 8 on you get tanks that pretty much shit all over the existing ones. At least all over the T-44 (sorry, have traumatic experience with that horrible, incredibly bad “tank”)

  11. Object 430 II basicly a SU-101 with a Turret and a low Power Engine?
The Tank is 2,5t heavier and has 100 less Horse Power, than the SU-101.

So we got another SU-101, only with a Turret. Looks like another Support Medium to me. And another most hated Tank..

      • I know, but still >.<
I'm sure they could have dug up some suitable, nation-specific tier 1s somehow. Just look at all the obscure "historically accurate" projects WG has found so far.
Also, it's funny how before starting WoT 2 years ago, I had no idea that the French pretty much invented the modern tank. Everybody knows the various Panzers and the T-34 and the Shermans, but the French? You don't learn much about those without specifically looking for them.

        • The French were security nuts. When the US got a few examples of the Canon de 75mm Modele 1897 from the French for demonstration purposes they could not even tear then thing apart or closely study it due to the security measures put in place by the French. Because the gun was considered French property and the return itself was considered a French National secret.

The Char D2 for example was so unknown by French troops that the French infantry ran away from their own tanks when the tanks showed up to help a counter offensive thrust when the Germans were invading in 1940.

    • Lights. They tend to be faster in terms of speed and get the camo bonus until tier 4 when toy have to play the Medium line anyways. Plus most of the guns on the Lights are on the Medium.

And since the armor is not great either way… you might as get all you can out of it.

also in terms of free XP I think the Light Line might be cheaper. I need to check.
