WG EU gift shop: Confused…

Alright, here’s something I don’t understand.

I have been following the daily giftshop offers (“Winter Surprise Calendar”) every day and it indeed surprises me every day. Not in a good way though. When the last warplane appeared (yet again) in a tank game offer, I was like “meh, whatever”. We all probably know who is guilty of this shit (for those who don’t: it’s Karlie and other community staff, not some “bean counter”).

But there have been things I don’t understand. A few days ago, there was a tank (it was the T-25 on Dec 18 I think), where the discount was stated to be 50 percent and when I went to the shop, it indeed WAS a 50 percent discount – both the tank and its slot were discounted). At that point I thought that if it lasted, I’d be actually writing a post saying that WG EU learned and the “discount” is now more clear. But no, of course they haven’t.

Check out today’s offer. It’s the E-25, 30 percent off. Not only the E-25 was already discounted once (weird, but okay, maybe someone forgot to buy it back then and will appreciate the chance to do so again), but in the shop, it is discounted at 24 percent.

wut

How the hell did they get this number? Count with me:

E-25, that’s 6700 gold. A slot is 300 gold.

If both were discounted by 30 percent, it would simply be 30 percent discount.
If the E-25 was discounted and the slot wasn’t at all, it would be 4690 + 300g = 4990g = 28,8 percent discount
If the E-25 was discounted and the slot was 50 percent discount (like in game), it would be 4690 + 150g = 30,8 percent discount

So why the hell is it 24 percent? Or am I missing something?

    • That’s because they don’t have premium shops for each game, it’s one unified shop. Once World of Warships launches, there will be plenty of ships in there too.

  1. I have no idea… but about the planes, I think they are getting desperate trying to win players for WOWP.

        • The game is fine and so is WT. WoWP got its beauty in short and quite intensive arcade battles which I find quite pleasant. I play games to relax, to enjoy them and to have fun. If I was here for real life-like experience and to see real life-like models, I would not be playing WoT in the first place and I am sure this is the same for many others. You can not simply compare WT to WoWP nor vice versa. It is like comparing Battlefield to Call of Duty where one focuses on “large” scale battles and the other is more of CQB style play. Sure, both got same assets, at least some of them are the same, but that does not mean they are copies of each another nor they are meant for the same crowd. Just that some part of that crowd overlaps.

        • You see, warthunder is alright, But it gets dull rather quickly.

When I first played it, I was like OMG this is amazing.
But looking past the shiny aircraft I began to realise, that its not some new revolutionary game. Its just a mash up of Birds of Steel and the IL2 Sturmovik series. Even down to the background music and aircraft models. Okay the tanks look very well made, but they look far to rusty to be in a warzone and i, for one, can guarantee that i will never be able to run the game with those graphics,
Hell, it even tells me my computer isn’t good enough to run it on ‘Low’.

      • It is not a bad game just WoT is better.

It is a much more dynamic game and sometimes not as frustrating as WoT with the f-ed up spoting system.

      • I think U get 100 gold for training room…I was beta tester and after the game went out I got 100 gold.

      • The problem with WoWp is it is a difficult game (after all WoT is also not a piece of cake for newbies). The first battles were a nightmare. It took me almost 200 games to feel a little comfortable. Good players in WoWp have much bigger edge than good players in WoT. Best guys have over 90% WR (playin solo or in platoons, no companies in WoWp :)). But when you learn how to play and get used to game specifics it is very pleasant…

      • For months I have been playing only WoWP and not WoT. Dunno why, I hate it. But I also hate WoT more. And I’ve been playing it for over a year. Hmm…that’s weird.

      • WoWp is actually a pretty fun game. From all the flack it gets here in the comments, I was going to completely give the game a pass. However, a friend convinced me to play it and I actually had a good time.

Do mind the learning curve though, it does have different mechanics then WoT. At the very least, look up how the field advantage works before playing.

It looks like WG is giving out yearly gift planes the same as the tanks, they’ve announced that everyone is getting a Tier II Chinese fighter Curtiss Hawk III on the 23rd

        • Yeah wowp is ok I just disliked cause my internet was to slow and unlike wot you spawn in the air moving towards the enemy and by the time I finally got into battle my plan was broken but I never got use to the game

  2. Noticed that before, but I don’t even bother about the gift shop, I bother about the tank in game and will buy it with gold

  3. I would like to have that e25 in garage but not for that price
maybe someone wants to trade for the three games i received with my graphics card?
best bundle of Assassin’s Creed® IV Black Flag™ and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell® Blacklist™ free also get Batman™: Arkham Origins.
i wont be playing those games, so if you are interested mail me at djekatek@yahoo.com

  4. You should see the NA Prem shop it has screw ups to..apparently the Sexton 2 is only sale for $7.67 if it wasn’t I could but it for 35 Cents. Even the T-43-3 Is messed up lots of the top War Machines are priced wrong..should check it out SS If you can

  5. “Not only the E-25 was already discounted once (weird, but okay, maybe someone forgot to buy it back then and will appreciate the chance to do so again)”
Don’t forget it was discounted last month 2 times too. That makes it 4th time in 2 months. Looks like they ran out of ideas pretty soon.

  6. It’s actually the offer of the 6th December, so -30% on E-25 and no discount on the slot. Check the name of the offer “Day6″ instead of “Day 21″. Fail as often.

  8. I thin the 2500 G might be the most popular purchase – then it’s a good metric to calculate discounts.
