Artillery Shells Bug to be Fixed in 9.0

Hello everyone,

a lot of artillery players have noticed a bug, where shells tend to land all over the place, in a completely different sector or just outside of the screen. You can see it here (a video from Russian server):

 

 

Well, I have good news. Storm confirmed that this bug has been identified and it will be fixed in 9.0

    • Didn’t they attempt to say this was only happening in replays at one stage (not that long ago)?

      It seems the head has been taken out of the sand at last.

      • As far as I know there was an additional bug with the replays that made it hard to recognize the real problem

  1. Finally they will fix this bug. I team hit 3-4 times because of this and a lost of missed shells.
    Some compensation would be nice. This i have noticed from 2-3 patched ago, but no one cared, not even support (they blamed my internet connection).

      I brought up the issue of compensation in a reply that I made to Laera – “Community Manager”…

      I play ALOT of arty (over 5600 games to date) and this bug has cost me a major amount of silver. I primarily use regular HE, but do use a some premium rounds (8K a pop). Considering shells cost between 1000 & 8000, the losses can add up very quickly.

      The thing that bugged me most though was the fact that they did not even acknowledge that there was a problem. What made them look like complete D-Bags is that they had mods delete comments in the arty thread while still refusing to admit it existed – totally AMATEUR.

    • Never even bothered checking the serverside reticle. I was having shells land way outside the fully bloomed circle and missing the fully aimed circle after sitting fully aimed waiting for the last 10s of a R/L to finish. It was clearly not a lag issue.

  2. I can get you another replay if you want with a shell flying way outside the circle but somehow landing within view range – malinovka, aiming for a Deathstar and the shell hit an E100 about 50-100m to the left of my aiming circle(yes I was fully aimed).

    So “working as intended”. Some1 before me did ask a very intelligent question: how bout some compensation for us arti drivers. Not like those missed shots due to this bug are very cheap, 8k/pop in case of a premium.

    • Reducing aim circle dispersion would be a good compensation, its ridiculous that the aiming circle after turning is bigger than the whole screen…

    • I had the same situation, fully aimed at a panther, then saw a Type 61 pop in and aimed 200m to the left and fully aimed again (another 9s wait), fired, and hit the panther.

      There was no lag, and the replay showed nothing odd. I just don’t get how it happened, bug or no, how did they break it like that?

    • i dont know but it only happens me when i use the gwe100, the bat arti and the o261 doesnt seem to have it.

        • both bat and 261 are high tier.

          All my arty have it but in order of rare to WTF common: Obj261, BC (T9), GWTigerP and FV207 (roughly equal for those)

        • Nope, this “bug” happens to all arties at all tiers. To me it looked like connectivity issues between server and client and I still think this is the “bug”.

      • I’ve never understood the arty hate. It’s often quite easy to avoid being hit by arty, even without camping. Its more annoying to pull out from cover to lose 2/3 of your HP to an invisible TD than an arty that you can chase down and kill before they shoot again.

        Calling Arty “clickers” or “one handed” is also silly. Its just a different playstyle, with the action spread across the full match instead of smaller more intense bursts. A good arty probably has better map awareness than most players because you need to pay attention to where things are lit. I can play a TD with less attention than an arty. Sit, wait for spot, shoot (maybe a few shots) wait for spot or for them to roll out from the rock, shoot, repeat.

        And if you play an FV304 or a French arty you also probably move around more than some TDs too.

          • snrub that is a lot of bullshit to take at once. Slow down. Arty is the cancer of this game. Deal with it.

            • I think this is a terrible bug, and feel very sorry for the poor arty players, or it least I will do when I have finished laughing my ass off…. buhahahahahaha… hahaha,,, buhahahahahahahahahaha…. no, I still don’t.

              • Because stupidheavy railway siege artillery would TOTALLY be tactically relevant to maneuvering tonks rite? Matter of fact, freakin’ V-2s were literally more convenient to prep for firing…

              • I have three or four arty in my garage(out of around 30 tanks) and I always go down shooting. I’m going to assist the team before I die. Besides, you get lucky occasionally.

                And one hand clickers? All arty that never use their left hand to drive suck. Playing arty well requires a LOT of repositioning. I also like to advance with the team in my arty.

    Giant WTF moment for both of us as he was not even seen.

  5. This is so annoying… I use server side reticle, but many shells still go out of the circle, sometimes as much as shown in this video…

    Battle on Live Oaks, Im with Obj261 at south base, shooting at the city.

    1. shell: Abducted by aliens.
    2. shell: Abducted again…
    3. shell: Yet another abduction…
    4. shell: Okay, I wanna call Agent J. to solve this matter…
    5. shell: lands 50m out of server circle…

    • did you change position after each shot? I heard from someone that if you change position (even a little) it will “fix” this bug – that can be true – if i moved after each shot with my M12 i never had this bug, but when i just stand still for longer time it happens sometimes.

      BTW download free camera mod to “follow” your shells ;)

    • 6. shell: Lands outside reticle 1-shots full HP teammate…1 square away from target.

      • yea, shoot my friendly tiger 1 with FV207 for 1200+dmg, he was like 20 tank lengths away from aim circle. pushing down right mouse button and waiting 2-3 sec before shoot helps if u r aiming at stationary targets. for moving ones, u can notice when ur aiming circle doesn’t get as much bigger as it shoot when u track sth and adjust aim position… annoying, but easy to take care and predict bug…

  6. They should give us gold or something for the shell’s we used that missed out of the circle. I don’t know how many times i had my M12 be right on the enemy tank and only to miss because it went out of the circle or not even close to where it suppose to be. Plus when does this “9.0″ suppose to come out? Do we not play our arty until then? Some good question’s that needs to be answered.

  7. This is good news, but more than missing shells, my reticle doesn’t always fallow my traverse, forcing me to switch to arcade view to make the reticle move with the vehicle traverse. Please fix this too

  8. Well the server aim in arty view will get stuck, I’ve found that if you right click, the server reticule will jump to where you are currently viewing.
    It is the only way to make the arty work until this lag/packet loss stops,
    And this doesn’t continue for more then a match or two.
    Haven’t heard any other solution.

  9. I don’t know if it has been told in the previous comment, but if you activate the server side reticule for artillery view, you will actually see when your server aim isn’t following you anymore. A simple double-shift (Get out of artillery view and back in) will fix it.

    Saved me a lot of shells. Hope it help you in between 9.0 !

    • Tried that, and held aim for 30+secs waiting for a tank to come out of cover and still hit 100m+ outside of the server reticle. I was putting it down to packet loss before that but it has to be a bug. Also, move at least 20/30m between shots as well so re-positioning doesn’t change it.
