9.0 Patchnotes

Official translation will most likely come tomorrow, so just for your information, what will 9.0 bring:

- historical battles (Kursk, Balaton, Ardennes)
- HD models (T-34/85, T-54, Maus, Tiger I, Panther, Sherman, Hellcat, M103, Centurion 7/1, Tortoise)
- changed the maps Malinovka, Serene Coast, Steppes, Redshire, Mountain Pass, Severogorsk, Pearl River
- changed the regular and premium hangars
- fixed the FPS drop on Widepark map
- added new graphic settings window
- reworked the graphic setting automatic mechanism
- added the “dynamic resolution” option
- added the FOV setting
- added the option to regulate the intensity of color filters
- added the option to set the screen frequency
- added the possibility of the turret flying off after ammo rack explosion
- added the new fullscreen sniper mode (can be disabled in settings)

Vehicles

- added new vehicles: Panzer IV Ausf.A (tier 3), Panzer IV Ausf.D (tier 4), StuG Ausf.B (tier 4)
- added the SU-85I premium Soviet TD to the premium shop
- British BESA MG penetration changed from 25 to 27mm
- if you had the StuG III unlocked, you will have StuG III Ausf.B unlocked with all the modules
- StuG III name changed to StuG III Ausf.G
- size of Panzer I, Panzerjäger I and Bison changed slightly
- HD reworked tanks had their armor models changed

T7 Combat Car
- maximum forward speed changed from 38,6 to 56 km/h, reverse from 16 to 20
- .50cal M2 ROF increased by 22 percent
- ammo carried changed from 1100 to 1350
- penetration changed from 25mm to 27mm

Panzer IV
- name changed to Panzer IV Ausf.H
- added side armor screens
- removed the Maybach HL108TR engine
- repair costs reduced by 3 percent
- maximum speed nerfed from 48 to 40 km/h
- depression for the 105mm nerfed from 7 to 5, for L/43 from 8 to 7 and for L/48 from 8 to 6
- removed the 50mm and 75mm L/24 guns
- stock turret view range changed from 330 to 340m
- hitpoints increased by 20 (460 to 480 elite)

Other changes

- removed the “confrontation” mode in random battles
- soundtrack (musical score) was remastered
- added language indicator on login screen
- added new rewards for team battles
- fixed the bugs in the “Vehicles” tab of the “Achievements” window
- reworked the “Statistics” tab of the “Achievements” window
- changed the conditions for Steel Wall
- term “potential damage” changed to “damage stopped by armor”
- fixed bugs in voicechat system
- fixed the bug where aim circle in replays didn’t display correctly
- fixed small bugs in replay recording
- fixed the bug where artillery shells fell outside of aim circle
- fixed the bug where artillery shells exploded in mid air
- fixed the freezing of the client when quitting the game
- improved the performance of the game on certain configurations
- optimized the drawing of decals and motion blur effect
- fixed the bug where FPS dropped sharply when track traces were enabled
- fixed the render of shadows and vegetation on medium and high settings
- changed the notification windown in the hangar
- removed the table with tank tiers in the battle queue
- added the “ammo rack empty” message when you are out of ammo and press F8
- changed the autoaim targetting point
- optimized the list of required tanks in the Missions window
- amount of reports per day increased from 5 to 10
- changed the complaint reason names
- fixed some bugs in mission window
- fixed some bugs with sounds of autocannons firing
- fixed the bug where the track traces disappeared or flickered
- fixed the bug where in some cases, the traces of shells hitting a tank were missing
- fixed the bugs where wrecks “slightly moved” after the tank destruction
- fixed the bug where the “refreshing” wheel appeared every minute in hangar
- fixed the display of the “in depot” icon when removing permanent camo, bought after 8.11
- fixed the display of XP amount in the mouseover window over modules or tanks in the research window
- in the “Vehicles” tab, fixed the display of statistics of medals, recieved in team battles
- fixed the bug where the Abrams medal was awarded with delay or not at all
- fixed the vehicle winrate number rounding
- fixed the connection to the voice chat in the training room after restarting the client
- fixed the display of shell tracer beyond the maximum shell range
- added dynamic spotting point for the gunner (SS: not sure what that means)
- fixed the saving of the camera distance after leaving the battle
- HE shells do not explode anymore when hitting a tankist crew, that is “peeking” outside of the tank (open-topped vehicles)
- fixed the company filter (by the name of the commander)
- fixed mistakes in description of some medals
- added dynamic light sources to shooting effects
- reworked the volume of the engine and suspension sounds
- added the effect of flying dust after shooting
- fixed shooting effects on some tanks

        • How was it imbalanced? I have lost many battles in a tank that was superior to another nation’s on paper.

        • blame it on the people that drove french tanks and suicided within 2 1 minute or the britidh people that dont kow how to angle their church to face a kv1….

          • I’m not sure why you would think the British don’t know how to angle, I’ve personally haven’t had an issue with my Churchill III taking out KV’s and that’s when it even had the derp cannon.

        • Ad-M – if so than f*** “Historical” BS “Battles” should be removed. They’re 5 times more unbalanced than Confrontation ever was.

          You heard the news? They plan to change the properties of tanks in this mode. So if you’ll have the same tank with same modules in random battles it will have different specification than the one in Historical Battles. Yes: It’s so very much fucked up game mode that they have to go down to this level of manipulation to make it work.

  1. The gun depression nerf for the Pz.IV is a bit sad, but the stock grind will be a bit easier
    and A LOT of bugfixing is always nice to have :3

    Still not sure about the Confrontation mode removed, i quite liked it :/

    Why did they nerf the Pz 4? I don’t understand that.

      • Remember my words: No german tank can be good. At he most mediocre,but nothing more,so our pro russian comrades can easily kill them with underpowered KV-1s and KV-1Ss…

        • remember also the m4 sherman nerf to armor turret…
          imho pz4 has always been underpowered because the shit of l/48 gun… but now also nerf the speed and the gun dep for the 105…. another tank to quit from garage

    • Speed Nerf: Historical, extra armor to the front and the schurzen weighed the tank down
      Depression Nerfs: Schurzen get in the way

        • Later-model IVs had real issues from the front-heaviness caused by the added armour and new guns. By what I’ve read this resulted in the few first suspension units being permanently overstressed and completely fucked up the design’s weight distribution, with predictable effects on mobility especially over more difficult ground.

        • Well going from 48 to 40 seems extreme for 5mm of sheet metal on each side, one also has to consider that it’s top speed for all Panzer IV versions was in the range of 35-42(35 for A/B/C, 42 being for the D/E/F, 40 for F2/G, 38 for H/J according to Spielberger), also the weight of a larger gun tube, and uparmoring across the rest of the hull. Spielberger lists the difference in combat weight between an Ausf. F2 and an H as about 3 metric tons, for perspective the average weight of a car in 2004 was 1.85 metric tons.

  5. I thought the Pz4 got depression buff, not a nerf. all this for some 20 hitpoints and some millimeters of side armor, while losing top speed?

    • Yeah, wondering the same thing, IIRC, the patch notes for the test stated the depression was gonna be increased to 10 or something? Maybe it was too much like the American so they nerfed that.

    • Doesn’t matter i shall play with new Pz IV with new sidearmoring. I remember when it had schmallturm turret. And i had to buy Pz IVS to reimburse this horrible nerf they did to Pz. Now i can have new features :3

        • Ahh, I think I found out what’s going on.

          I think the gun depression for all guns gun nerfed when pointing to the sides.\

          If it is facing forward, the gun depression may either be the same or have gotten buffed.

          I might be wrong though.

    It’s another point to spot from. Right now there are 2, the one that was always there at the commanders spot and one added in 0.6.4 centered on where the gun came out of the turret. – http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/images/a/ad/View_range_ports.png

    Not sure how offset the gunners one would be from either of those. Maybe on some vehicles where the gunner sat should have had line of sight, but didn’t as it wasn’t inline with the gun or commander’s viewing spots.

    What they really need to do is add check points to the corners. Seen tanks coming around the corner remain invisible if they angle their nose so it is blocked by the tracks. Here are the current check points – http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/images/d/dd/Visibility_checkpoints.png

    • An astute player on the WG NA Forums noticed that the RU patch notes list the SU-85i as a premium shop addition, but not the NA server patch notes. Coincidence? Or is the RU server going to be the only server with the SU-85i initially?

      • that’s a good point, these are Russian patch notes, not NA or EU so it may mean the SU-85i will only be on Russian servers which wouldn’t be that surprising. :(

  7. Did they explain why they removed the table with “Tanks by Tier”. I remember that Storm said they had a reason and that they will tell it later, but that moment never came. :-|

    • Because people were either manually, or with the help of macros jumping in and out of the queue until the tank comp favored them being top tier.

      Now that that information is no longer available it will be impossible to game the system in that manner.

    • IMO to hide the huge queue on tier 8 that their previous “solution” (removing BT 12) didn’t actually solve. You get your tier 8, you launch battle, you see 1500 tier 8s in queue and you get put in a battle with 6 tier 10, 7 tier 9 and 2 tier 8 of which one is you and the other AMX 13 90. You get mad because you don’t know that MM will sometimes put you on the bottom or you think that’s not true. So you scream “WTF WG SO MANY TIER 8 AND YOU PUT ME UP AGAINST TIER 10 WITH MY TIER 6 GUN!”.

      So they remove the queue by tier table so you don’t know that MM could have put you with other 29 tier 8s, but it didn’t because of reasons.

    It is 22mm penetration currenly, not 25mm

    • Not sure where anyone got the idea that it was 22 OR 25. It’s currently 27 average ingame (yes, in 8.11), unless the UI is lying…which is admittedly possible, what with things like the Jackson’s mislabeled frontal armor.

      The NORMAL Browning .50 has 22 penetration. They’re named the same, but they’re two separate guns.

      • When they first announced the change there were people saying this, so I checked it twice in-game and asked other people to do so as well. The T7′s pen was 22mm, not 27mm. It was originally going to be 27mm when the T7 was being tested, but then changed to 22mm and that’s how the tank went live.

        And the Jackson isn’t mislabeled… the armour value refers to the strongest past of a tank, which in Jackson’s case is the LFP. Yes, it’s weird.

          The Jackson is mislabeled, because generally tanks have their thickest *main armor* listed; that is, their upper front plate, not the transmission casing. Look at the Wolverine, for example; that thing has a surprising 114mm on its nose, but is properly labeled as 51mm for its comparatively crappy upper plate. Same with the T1, T14, M6, both tier 6 Shermans…

          I’m not saying it’s mislabeled because it’s wrong – technically, there is indeed 114mm of armor “on the front” – I’m saying it’s mislabeled because it’s misleading and inconsistent with other tanks of the same general design.

    For how long will it stay? Just spent my money on a KV-5 and I can’t afford to spend more money into WoT. My salary is nearly depleated already.. For fuck sake.

    • I think it’s a permanent addition. You probably wont be able to purchase it in gaqme until 9.1 but it’ll be available in the gift shop from Wednesday.

    • I wish they would change it so it was something like (5+(Number of battles played / 3)) per day with a maximum of 5 at any given time.

      I just played a match that had 6 idle/bots..
      It also seems odd that they added things like illegal gold selling. I know the Russians code scanners sell gold codes and premium tank codes, but I have never seen it advertised in game.

  15. I liked Confrontation. A great shame, I often did very well in it. Maybe one day they’ll reimplement it.

    In other news, I’ll have made another dent in my bank account soon, getting the SU-85I(!)
