WG “World on Fire” Stream QA

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3271776.html

Hello everyone,

the Russians had another CW-related stream (connected to the World on Fire event) with Alexei “Inaki” Ilyin and Dmitryi “Fluke” Grigorov and Maiorboltach from Russian LJ community was kind enough to provide a transcription yet again. Here’s what was written. I removed the answers that are exclusive for RU server (pointless for us)

- nominal price of T23E3 is 7000 gold
- Fame points are awarded regardless of events, premium account etc., you won’t be able to get that tank without spending a single day in the event
- “riots” (SS: the CW mechanism, not sure of the English term – rebellions?) will appear almost everywhere, on average every 1-2 provinces
- T23E3 MM is such that it will most of the time (almost all the time) appear on the top of the team
- the reward for 3rd campaign will be Object 907

- T95E6 will be given out as a reward for clan activities, but it’s not sure which ones, it’s even possible it will be a reward for something else than CW
- the system for recieving the Points of Fame: the XP of all the players on the team is summarized and then divided by 15, each player will recieve the same amount of points of fame per battle, this is so that SPG’s for example don’t suffer. If the battle is played by 14 players the less, even in these cases the XP is divided by 15 (this is intentional in order to prevent too fast XP gain)
- “rigged” battles will be flagged by various automatic filters – if there is a suspicion, the referees will watch all 30 replays for rigging
- in order to participate in Stronghold mode, your clan needs at least 20 players
- Stronghold mode will bring many unannounced bonuses, a lot of people will like it
- Stronghold mode will not be an equivalent of Farmville, the construction will directly depend on battles
- the resources (“production points”) can be obtained only in battles, they will not be obtainable for gold, there will be no possibility to use gold whatsoever
- Strongholds will not be tied to CW provinces, it’s a completely new mode. WG considers it to be a transition (“middle”) mode between random and CW
- Clan rating will be implemented as a sort of variable rating, something like the Elo-Rating – the better clan you defeat, the better your rating will be, if you defeat a weak clan, your rating will not be good, it should come soon
- CW in game client will not be implemented: it will remainweb-based thing
- there are no plans to increase the maximum number of players per clan, but some developers have this dream to implement “clan reserves”, players could be transferred from one to another, the player would formally remain in the clan, but in order to transfer from reserves to main core, there would be the same rules (cooldown) as in transferring between clans
- there is a concept of CW alliances developed, that should work in two phases: phase 1 is “cosmetic” (UI, so everyone can clearly see who is the enemy and who is the ally), phase 2 is “gameplay” (direct involvement of alliance troops in combat). It is possible to implement phase 1 very soon
- there won’t be any new provinces added, it slows down the waiting times and calculations, CW depends on how the Stronghold mode will work
- developers will apparently decide, whether and how to make a CW tutorial in game
- de-freezing of vehicles for gold will not be implemented
- there will not be a split of CW into multiple skill leagues/tiers
- in near future, the clan positions (SS: leader, deputy etc.) will be reworked, old ones will be optimized and new ones will be added, there will be new options for all positions
- a new tiered medal (“Rotmistrov’s medal”) – multiple classes – will be implemented for participating in CW
- in CW battle results, not displaying the tanks that were not discovered as a part of the Fog of Wor is not planned, but the idea is not scrapped altogether
- WG is experimenting with tech-fixed/capped CW teams (for example maximum 3 heavies, maximum 3 mediums, maximum 3 autoloaders and such)
- WG is also experimenting with new championship modes, for example 7/70 championship format and with various tech caps (such as for example a team must have one arty)

  1. - T23E3 MM is such that it will most of the time (almost all the time) appear on the top of the team

Feels biased when he publicly announces that.

    • It may need it just to be average. You’re looking at the T49′s gun on a T7 med – thing’s going to need a lot of love.

          • Which would mean it hogs up a lot of the available MM, leaving only room for lower tiers.

          • OP camo? Iam slightly doubting that tbh… From what I saw the size is similar to the T20 so it will hold a similar camo value, but nowhere near the camo of the E25 IMHO.

And I dont believe the crap about the MM. I remember very well how it was with the 122-44… I was 9 out of 10 games on top in T7 games and 1 out of 10 in a T8 game. Now its 8 out of 10 on the bottom in a T8-9 game and once in 10 games Iam in a T7 game.

            I suspect a similar fate for the T23E3 being a punchbag for T8 heavies/meds.

BUT! even the T49 performs decently in a T7 game and the guns are basically the same so we will see I guess… It seems to have great acceleration with good gun depression so it apears to be a peek-a-boo type over hills tank like the T49. The gun mantlet apears to be also decent atleast against lower tier guns.

        • I wish. The E-25′s gun is vastly superior, and its on one hell of a platform. There’s no doubt in my mind that the T23E3 will be much worse than the E-25 should it get the same matchmaking.

  2. the reward for 3rd campaign will be Object 907

LOL! Awesome! So that will make 4 Russian T10 meds! :D

  3. How many bloody tanks are they giving exclusive to CW? and normal player have to work their ass really hard for a shitty SP or T34? wtf?!

    • if youre talking about the T23, its not exclusive, it will be on sale later on.

    • So how would you argue WG should do things to encourage everyone to join clan wars and become good at the game? Sorry but ALL games add things that reward top players. Don’t like good players being rewarded then become a good player and get rewarded. And by the way I am not a player who is good enough to earn one of these big clans that “gets things handed to them” I am in a little clan that doesn’t do clan wars telling you to shut up and learn to be good enough to earn prizes rather than whining about it. You want rewards you have to earn them.

  4. - Stronghold mode will not be an equivalent of Farmville, the construction will directly depend on battles

So it’s not the same because Farmville we are wasting our time and in WoT we are wasting our time… in battles!

    - the resources (“production points”) can be obtained only in battles, they will not be obtainable for gold, there will be no possibility to use gold whatsoever

“But we will make it like this. Soon.” fixed it. :)

    - Clan rating will be implemented as a sort of variable rating, something like the Elo-Rating – the better clan you defeat, the better your rating will be, if you defeat a weak clan, your rating will not be good, it should come soon

So there will be another insult factor? “OMG WTF? Lemming NOOBCLAN member j*wish polak tomato!” or “Your clan’s rating is so low it has a Guinness World Record.”?

    - there will not be a split of CW into multiple skill leagues/tiers

Having leagues for clans is a bad idea. If you progress to the higher tier/league, then your territories in the old one will be wiped or you will get them in the upper league to? Or you will get the old ones but you would only able to defend them and you HAVE to get new ones in the new map? Otherwise why implement leagues for CLANS? For individual players it’s ok, but for clans?

    - there is a concept of CW alliances developed, that should work in two phases: phase 1 is “cosmetic” (UI, so everyone can clearly see who is the enemy and who is the ally), phase 2 is “gameplay” (direct involvement of alliance troops in combat). It is possible to implement phase 1 very soon

    Phase 2 comes in 2020?

    - WG is experimenting with tech-fixed/capped CW teams (for example maximum 3 heavies, maximum 3 mediums, maximum 3 autoloaders and such)
    - WG is also experimenting with new championship modes, for example 7/70 championship format and with various tech caps (such as for example a team must have one arty)

“Hardcapping is a terrible idea.” said WG at the time for TD nerfs.
“So we will use it as often as we can.” says now.
BTW what happens if a clan doesn’t have any other class but medium? Will they be disqualified forever?

    • Wow, did you woke up and discovered your supply of Zanex run dry or something?

      So much verbal diarrhea…

But I will get off my high horse and answer one of your stupid questions:

If your clan doesn’t have any tanks but a medium, it’s a scrub clan and doesn’t belong (nor will be able to stay for long) in clan wars. GTFO.

Wait wait, one more stupid question I have to answer:

Hardcapping was a bad idea in random games because it would mess up the MM. It was explained OH MY GOD so many fucking times to retards like you.

Hardcapping in clan wars has no effect on anything because these are not MM games. Whether it will bring more fun or less fun for clan war participants is what they are testing.

      • By hardcapping you limit the A., clans’ option to battle as i said before (not all meds but 5-5-5 med-heavy-TD for example) B., team composition. If you are against 3-3-7-1-1 (med-heavy-TD-arty-scout) teams ALL THE TIME you might start to bore to death or exploit this mechanism (blindshot to places where enemy MUST BE and so on)

This is why i don’t understand the arty hardcap or any hardcap at all.

And to be fair: if your clan managed to land with only meds in your clan then you are 1337 enough to stay in CW imo.

  5. 7/70
Another way to play tier X only?
    Sigh.
    Least interesting extra option possible..

  6. - CW in game client will not be implemented: it will remainweb-based thing

and they were saying for a year that they are working on an in-game client for CW, it seems 9.0 changed a great many things that are/were yet to come.
