Hello everyone, in case you are wondering what the hell happened that suddenly in one day, we have so much info on 9.1, it’s because tomorrow, the 9.1 open test was supposed to begin. As far as I know (from WG RU), the test was postponed to next week – the reason for that is the fact the 9.1 test build is bugged (specifically, nasty FPS drops). WG wants to fix that first.

- VK Porsche not buffed while it needs a buff? “It happens”
- Storm states that the nerf of imbalanced tanks WILL come, developers did not decide to leave them
- gold ammo shots make 10-15 percent of all shots fired, sometimes up to 20 percent – there are peaks of more, but they are rare, official statistics won’t be disclosed
- Storm confirms that gold ammo statistics do not show “terrible dominance of gold ammo”
- the gold ammo statistics are about the same for tier 10 and the entire game
- Storm states he could partially agree with the increase of role of armor
- skill MM? Storm: “If it will come, then in a separate mode, such as ‘ranked random’ as an addition to normal random battles”
- normalization will not be further reduced, it’s small as it is
- T18 will still be too strong in 9.1? “You can play on T18″ (Storm states later that T18 will be nerfed)

- developers are slowly working on (now admitted) issue of freezes whenever you detect (light up) a new tank
- one of the variants is making nerfs/buffs in batches by tiers (for example “in patch 9.2, tanks of tier 6 will be rebalanced”)
- Q: “On forums, noobs are being all happy, they are going to play with T18 and Hellcat!” A: “Well, at least someone is happy”
- on tier 6 balance: “Well, if we are to rebalance Hellcat, we also need to rebalance KV-1S so the tier is fixed”
- in 9.2, “more complex approach” to rebalance will come (Storm adds: “if we manage to do it”)
- 9.1 will not bring any HD models, it’s not connected
- players pointed out to Storm that there are other guns, where gold ammo damage doesn’t correspond to silver ammo damage, Storm stated he would investigate (SS: it’s a bug, they should correspond)
- Storm confirms: all LT tier 4-7 (apart from exceptions) will have their MM spread improved by removing the top battletier
- carrying capacity of M46 Patton will not be buffed in 9.1
- Veider states that the point of the Hellcat nerf is the fact that now it is too unversal, it’s not like a TD, more like a MT, that’s why the Hellcat parameters that are more like MT-ish were supposed to be nerfed in 9.1, while the TD-ish parameters stayed the same, the nice gun and depression were left alone
- the 9.1 patch will be technical with various fixes, not much on a content (just one map)
- Storm admits that FPS issues were not fixed unfortunately in 9.1
- Storm states that increasing the penetration drop over distance is not a good solution to improve the role of armor, as vehicles with low penetration as it is will suffer while those with a really big one will not even notice
- Q: “Is general nerf of Soviet tier 10 mediums planned for 2014? Veider: “Why just Soviet ones?”
- gun accuracy will be reduced by a little via accuracy mechanism, not by nerfing tank stats because the general accuracy is too high, this concerns tanks – not arty (SS: or at least arty will be considered separately)
- Assault on Sand River will still be removed if I understand it correctly (SS: this is unclear)
- Storm confirms that patch 9.1 has FPS issues, they are looking for the problem
- Storm states that they made “too many paper tanks” (SS: lol at Soviet LT8 and WT E-100)
- Christie tanks will come but not soon
- Storm states that making more smaller patches (for exmaple with tank changes only) is not impossible, but difficult to do due to the amounts of testing, WG won’t do that
- currently the rate is 1 patch per 1,5 months
- Veider explains that the nerfing of both Tigers (P and H) is connected – Tiger P is currently imbalanced (SS: but not by much), but it would become more imbalanced after the nerf of Tiger H, both have to be nerfed at once

- Veider states that Maus is fine, it’s just not for everybody
- Storm states he plays on tier 10 and there aren’t too few TD’s, but there also aren’t too many for it to be a problem
- according to Storm, TD’s make 25-30 percent of tier 9-10 tanks in battles, he adds that players posting screenies with tons of TD’s are not right, single screenies do not reflect the general situation
- Storm doesn’t play much himself, he says he has too much work, he trusts his co-workers, who DO play a lot
- SU-101 buff? “We will work on that. For now no comment”
- ARL V39 will also be watched
- there is an idea at WG to generally shift the main value (SS: as in, the main factor deciding how much money you earn) of the tank from damage done (by for example adding bonus for blocking damage by your armor)
- while the point above might seem logical, Veider explains that it’s not that easy. For example, when you implement a bonus from deflecting damage using your armor, a light tank can ricochet a 750 dmg shell and immediately gets much more bonus than it should have since that shell could for example be more than it actually has hitpoints
- premium TD’s will not be nerfed
- +/-25 RNG will not be reduced
- for now, there are no exact plans for changing the FV215b (183)
- the reasons why gold ammo amount is not limited in the game (harcapped) are the reduction of profit for Wargaming and the fact that people, who run full gold ammo setup would find the game less interesting
- historical battles don’t have some tanks, that actually participated in the respective battles (such as KV-1 in Kursk), because they would be completely useless there and they would only be cannon fodder
- the digs on the main Kharkov square on the Kharkov map are historical, they were there in WW2 according to Wargaming history consultants
- Kharkov will not come out in HD
- Evilly confirms that the “leaked HD content selector” is legit, it’s work in progress

      This really puzzles me. Most games these days let you choose between SSAO and HBAO or off at least. It’d be much better if they included these options so people could balance their performance to eye candy a bit better.
      I wonder why don’t they leave the sliders but also give the more standard options in drop down menus for those that want to tinker with them. As it stands since we don’t know what the sliders do exactly we get unexpected performance drops with the same settings as before each time one of these patches hits.

    Now if only they would keep their promises.

    This patch doesn’t bring much though. I thought they might fix the FPS drops but looks like they screwed up (somehow) once again.

        • I am. Funnily enough, I’m just playing Pz.IV with the 10.5. and I wasn’t saying M4 was best on 105, i was saying that the DPM is shit on 105.

          • DMP being low doesn’t make the tank UP. M4 still has better armor and mobility than Pz IV. And it a medium tank. Mediums are meant to rely more on mobility than on gun. Don’t like low DPM on 105 learn how to aim and use 76 mm.

        • I shoot only gold(HEAT) with my SU-152 ! 250mm pen 700 dmg in tier 7 ;) And if every shoot penetrates, I can even earn 1k to 3k .. (I mean the M20S gun)

    Isn’t the mobility one of the only few things the Hellcat has going for it?

    • The only thing on the hellcat that is considerably bad is the hull armour, turret traverse and health-pool. ( and the healthpool is only bad compared to non-TDs. ) It has a good all around gun, good gundepression, good alpha, good dpm, good turret armour, great camo, great spotting range, great top speed, good mobility, okay acceleration and a relatively small profile. It’s the closest older tank to the WT RhB which itself is a troublesome vehicle.

      The hellcat might have poor city performance, but there aren’t that many city-only maps so in most maps it can preform very well. It’s not as noob-friendly as the other troublesome tier 6 but it’s hardly balanced.

    • Yep. Gold rounds are specifically biased against tanks that use armour, and probably inversely (assuming tanks are balanced against silver rounds) biased towards paper armour tanks that get something extra to compensate which isn’t negated by gold rounds.

      • well yes, I dont care if anybody is spamming gold when Im driving leopard or batmobile… anything can penetrate those…

        on the other hand, Im usually using gold ammo for credits when I either wanna have some fun in my e100 or when I need to grind something with awful stock gun…
        I hated vk2001 for example.. short 88 is useless in tier9 match. I switch to gold to actually be able to do something and not just waste x2 for first victory…

    • Gold rounds still ricochet plenty against good/sloped armour and credit rounds will pen if you hit weak spots.

      It is tank dependent, some (E100,T69) need gold to perform but most tanks can do ok with silver.

After that SerB went like : herp-a-derp we need to nerf the not-even-yet-existing tank for sake of balance to around 34 km/h (Which is just dumb if you ask me, They should leave some uniqueness in the game. Hopfully uniqueness is a word) and now we have Storm going herp-a-derp reducing it to 11 km/h. GG WG ^^

    • 56 backwards speed was a bug. It was a bug from a start, it just got fixed.

      • Not a bug, the real thing did go the same speed in both forward and reverse. At first they said they were going to let it do that in game, but then said it was “stupid and unrealistic” and thus we have the 11 km/h now.

    • Look again, the damage on the KV-1S is by his platoon mate on the right ;-)
      What happened to his own shell, don’t know. From the looks of it he shot the KV-1′s turret…

    • Activate Server Crosshair and you will see were you are really aiming. Especially when comming around corners you often can see the Server Cross aiming into the building.

    • Eeyup. If I remember correctly, before gold for credits was implemented, the value was quoted as about 3% for randoms.

        I would support high-skill MM IF there was a way of communication besides the chat. Like throwing a bunch of good people together will (as you said) make a campfest. The rush could only be coordinated if someone would coordinate it, maybe it could be like Caotain’s mode in Dota 2 where a guy picks the strategy and stuff pre-game.

  9. This has surprisingly few replies. Just give the KV-1S a 100mm gun that has the same pen as the old with the same DPM as the old and I will be happy to continue playing the KV-1S. Even though I believe it is not overpowered as I can easily kill them as well.

    • Arty’s are played the least, I believe. so the optimal matchmaking would be something like

      5 TD 4HT 3MT 1LT 2ARTY
      or
      5 TD 4HT 4MT 2ARTY

      Without arty it’s usually an extra TD or Heavy.

      But almost consistently you get at least 2 WTF E100′s on one side, sadly.

      I actually don’t ever see that much myself…

    • The gold isn’t a problem for me in E5 or whatever. I see many people that drive stuff like E-100s and whatnot going “U GOLD NOOB HACKER blablabla” when all you have to do to pen with AP is aim at the lower plate. Gold can be easily substituted in most tanks by AIMING. Fast tanks however do need it for circling and stuff so they instapen, but I tell you that shit ain’t cheap.
      If a TD pens you it’s because that’s the point, they all have high pen just for that.. If a medium pens you it’s because it’s shooting you in the arse. The only case in which gold is gamebreaking is when tanks pen your upper plate. That is lame, yes, but there’s no other way of doing that – imagine two angled Maus’ shooting eachother. Without gold they can go at it forever! IMO gold doesn’t break the game, it breaks up stalemates between armoured tanks.
      I get that it’s annoying that people auto-pen you, but I just imagine their monetary losses after the battle and laugh.

      Also, I wouldn’t play the ranked MM. See above, and also I have plenty of experience from Dota2 and I can tell you that it doesn’t get better for the first half. You have to swim through a lot of shit to get to the high ranks where the game actually works well.

      Besides the fact you were using that meme wrong, I agree with you on everything else ;)

      • Yeah well it’s hard to laugh when you are playing your Maus “SUPPOSEDLY” the most heavily armored tank in the game and has the most hitpoints, then a tiny little T71 light tank comes along or any OTHER gold spamming autoloader and take you down to 1/3 or 1/4 of your health in 1 clip of gold ammo, regardless of you angling your armor. It doesn’t make you laugh it make me want to give up even trying to play that match.

Also i don’t mind gold ammo per se because i would be hypocrite if i do since i’m using it myself(when needed), but the gold ammo spam is the issue here and that’s exactly what WG emphasized why they don’t want to hardcap the gold ammo. It means less money for them and *lamest excuse ever* killing the “fun” for those who run gold ammo only.

        About skilled MM i think you misunderstood me. I never said i want it( quite the opposite) but my point was that despite them claiming that thing will never happen somehow they are changing their attitude towards it and it might come to the game eventually.

    (Luckily, it seems almost everyone went with DCA 45 so far and didn’t notice that ARL 44 105 on premium shells outdoes SU-100 with DPM, V39 even more so).

    • Sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut and be considered dumb by people instead of opening your mouth and removing all the doubts. I for example can afford much more prem shells, but i still carry and most important use them only for a situations where i really need them.

  18. I really don’t like the LT change. Either give them a normal MM or don’t. Now this just means less spotting dmg, which results in loss of income in both xp and creds, and is essentially a nerf for good scouts.

    • Or hardcap the gold ammo loadout. You know so you actually have to flank Maus(amaghad it’s so hard to flank 180 ton tank) instead of making him another pair of eyes on the turret front.

    • What’s even more epic is that 11 km/h is like seriously bad. TDs are known for having shitty reverse speed and it kills them when you have to pull back to cover. And this is not a TD, but medium tank so imagine how fun it is to drive a medium that can go only 11 kmh in reverse. Yea, not really fun. Srsly what are they thinking back there at WG HQ. Ok i get it, having the same speed in reverse and forward would be quite imbalanced, but then nerfing it from like 50 kmh to 11 is stupid. One of the reasons why i didn’t even bothered to get the tank. Well that and being lazy :D

      • Someone needs to find historical statistics on the t23 so they will rebuff the revers speed to at least the 30kph. I mean seriously, that’s what made the tank special at all.

      And NO WG, noobs don’t learn from pros trust me, i tried so often to tell them what will happen and what to doe but noobs stay noobs and they don’t care.
      Or how can you explain player with 10k+ battle experience and still a WN8 below 200? Are they just handicaped persons? My 10y old son played such a game the first time in his life and had better stats after his first 50 battles… either you have sense for such a game or not.

  29. ok i have a question that actually more directed to people like storm but maybe ss or someone else can help with this. Now that balanced are such an sensitive matter i wonder is there any stats/mechanics/thought on how much gold a specific tank uses when they look at balancing it. i mean they argue that tiger p should be balanced base partially on winrate. some tanks like t69/t-54/e100 many lighttanks uses ALOT of gold. i mean if 10-15% of shots generally are with gold some of those tank must use ALOT more. If you look at the winrate or other stats of one tank with generally high usage of gold isn’t it kinda misleading? i mean if the tank used the same amount of gold as other tanks it would have had worse stats in almost all regards
