Hello everyone,

last night there was a stream on the RU server – WG developers and producers Alexei “Inaki” Ilyin, Anton “Evilly” Pankov and Yuri “Hukogum” Kuryavyj and the chief of map design department Vladislav “_p0zzy_” Markov – they were playing the football mode and answering some player questions, Maiorboltach was kind enough to provide a transcription. Thank you!

- at first, they tried out the football mode with AMX ELC. It took two months to develop. On RU server, roughly 2 million people played this mode.
- there will be no Katyusha rocket launchers in the game, but there will be an “artillery barrage” (SS: Stronkhold consumable IIRC)
- WG knows that historical battles need serious rework and in patch 9.2, the entire mode will be temporarily removed from the game for rework. Developers are working on “a completely new CW concept with new features”, developers are also considering special PVE mode for historical battles. After the HB’s are reworked, there will be a special test only for them, like the stronkhold has now in order to gather detailed feedback
- it’s possible that in the Stronkhold mode, there will be an option to hire non-clan players (“mercenaries”), apparently when Stronkhold gets active (?? – literally “but during this period”), companies will be closed (!) and won’t be reworked


- the rules for 3rd CW campaign are already written, 3rd campain will come in Autumn, so that in the summer period (patches 9.2 and 9.3) the stronkhold mode is focused on. There will be many rebellions and landings in it, but there will also be many new features
- in the future, the “football” and “Karl” modes will return, because they were very popular, there is a wish at WG for championships to be made in them
- patch 9.2 will bring “atmospheric Prokhorovka”, it was apparently reworked to resemble the atmosphere of the battle more closely
- in 9.2, there will be a “complex rebalance” of tanks, mainly tier 10: Leopard 1, FV4202, AMX50B
- new UI is in testing, the interface will be simplified and the interfaces of various modes unified
- the Soviet premium MT8 was planned already at the beginning of the year, it’s possible (“if we manage to do it”) that in this year, premium MT8 for Germans and premium TD for USA will come
- in 9.2, only a few HD tanks will appear (SS: WTF, again?), while 9.3 will bring 20-25 HD tanks
- rework of maps to HD will start this year
- in 9.2, El Halluf will be reworked
- in 9.2, Sacred Valley will return (“with this thing, you’re gonna love it”)
- at first, football was tested in 5v5, but it was decided that this way it’s more fun since platoons can play
- garage battles are still planned for this year (“when it’s done it’s done”), they are testing variants for tier 8 and 10
- Havok has the same issues as HD rework, the first to come will be object physics
- “Light T-54″ will be an interesting vehicle, with “small ammo rack, like Type 59″
- KV-1S will definitely be split in 9.3 – into two vehicles: tier 6 and 7, everything is already prepared. Along with it, the entire tier will be rebalanced (Hellcat, Tiger)
- tier 10 tank destroyers will be rebalanced in 9.2 (at least WT E-100, FV215b (183))
- according to Inaki, ingame chat channel crashes when more than 5 thousand people participate in it
- next week, there will be a micropatch, that will fix the “moving corpses” and the issues with chat
- in summer, there will be a new “mission” with the possibility to get a premium tank, the tank will be low tier
- Japanese and Chinese trees have branches concepts of artillery from tier 2 to tier 10
- regarding the second branch of the British TD’s (SS: the turretted ones), there is an option that this branch will be without tier 10 and both branches will go into one tier 10 (SS: no wonder, balancing the FV4005 Stage II must be a nightmare)
- no plans to return the Dragon Ridge
- there will be new crew skills and perks, the old ones will be reworked
- the fate of the Sturmtiger branch is not yet decided, it won’t come in any near patches
- HD client option will come in 9.3 or 9.4
- currently, the ingame tank chat is transferred to an external Jabber server, after which there will be an option to connect to it using external applications
- there will not be the option to disable maps you dont want to play in the game

    • LOL … and KV-1S will not be Tier 5/6 but 6/7? Uhh, it is a little strange, at Tier 7 it has to have better armor or better gun. Anyway it will be roughly THE SAME as IS.

      I am very, very curious how they will solve that.

      • It can’t have better armor because that would be unhistorical. But they can give it the better 122mm D25-T. Yeah it will be almost the same as IS but faster.

      • well… with a gun buff it could be better than is since its more agile and the armor of both is negligible.

      • It should be tier 5, 6 and preium 7.
        KV-1S on tier 5 with the stock turret and proposed 85mm (which the stock turret doesn’t have atm).
        KV-85 on tier 6 with the top turret and 100mm gun.
        KV-122 on tier 7 premium.

        • The idea of a KV-1Sport with a 100mm ID10T gun scares me to no end. It’s more precise than the D-2-5T(which most people bitch and moan about), shoots faster, has better aim time, has the same penetration, has way better penetration with APCR shells and overall, it’s simply cheaper to use(about 200s vs 1000+s for a 122mm). The only tradeoff is the alpha damage but still 250 is good enough for tier 6 and, while armed with that cannon, the KV-1Sport won’t be defenseless after shooting anymore….

          • Yeah. Why do you think all people want the D10T when the D-2-5T gets removed because of the noobs? :D

      • Just give it it’s real -3 gun depression. No splits, no new tanks, one simple change.

        With it’s powerful gun and decent mobility the tank would still be playable, even if somewhat uncomfortable (just like the Chinese tanks are), but restrictive enough not to roflstomp others anywhere but on a very flat terrain.

        But NOPE, they have to add more tanks and mess things up even more >.<

      • I’m also curious as to what it will research into. Will it (the KV-122 I presume) be doomed to obscurity like the KV-13 not because it’s a bad tank, but because it doesn’t lead anywhere that the mainline tanks don’t lead? And what tanks would it lead to? Would it be researched from, say, the T-150 and KV-1S, and allow you to research the IS and KV-3? If so, it might find itself in a very similar spot as the KV-13 simply because it doesn’t lead to its own line.

    will be FV4202 rebalanced or completly changed with another vehicle? btw. why nerf leo1/50B?

    • Rebalance doesn’t always mean nerf. My guess is there will be a very small nerf to the Leopard 1, but the 50B is more than likely going to get a solid buff or two, considering its characteristically held one of the lowest winrates among tier ten heavies consistently for the last year or more.

      I do wonder though what they’re going to do to my Leo 1 though. God I hope they don’t screw it up.

      • Nerfing Leo? I actually expect a buff. With all the maps reworked to brawling alleys its the worst T10 medium now after 121 as it cant use its advantages on most maps. Also both chinese deserve major buff.

        • Leo really needs a buff in dispersion while moving, that makes one of it selling points – aiming time – completely irrelevant. And buff of ROF would be nice i guess. Otherwise the tank is pretty much okay.

          Would be nice if 50B had little bit slower times between shells, something like 2,22 as T54E1 does. And maybe shorten a reload of whole magazine to like 27 secs base?

    Wut? Wheres the M48? It is utter useless compare to any of the T10! FV4202 at least got really good PTT Ratio and best gun depression, and yet they still dont care?

    • M48′s gun depression is the same as the FV4202′s, and its turret is marginally more armored.

        Gun Depression, Accuracy on the move?
        THE 2 MOST distinct feature of the M48 Patton, is still not good enough. -9 is good, but FV4202′s -10 do make a difference. Also, Obj140 Laugh at the Patton’s accuracy on the move, with a Extremely high DPM gun.
        Mobility? Oh. 16 PTT ratio with 45km Max. So good right?
        Camo Rating? 2nd worst, just better than the E50M, which Neglects it’s 420 View range as well.
        Gun? DPM meh, way lower than the Soviets and STB-1. Accuracy 0.36. Awful for a T10 MT.
        Armour? Haha, anyone will bounce a M48 it except the mantlet (Which contantly get pen-ed as well)?

        So Tell me, Whats the point of playing it?

      You know they’ve been working on HD model mass-producing engine for a few months now, which stalled much of new tank stuff, and now that it’s almost complete you tell them not to use it?

      And until it’s finished and used, we won’t get any new branches, really – including your Jap/Chin arties.

      U gave the answer to yourself ;) Malinovka would be full of arys, while himmelsdorf would be fluted with Mäusen and E-100s.

      Or with less exaggeration: Some classes would profit more than others as for example there are less City maps than open maps. So if an Ary deactivates one City map the Chance to get an open Map increases significantly while if my Heavy deactivates an open map the Chance to get a city map wouldnt really change.

      • the diference is that heavys can still do something in open maps, while tds(not e3 or jag e100, those work great at city maps thanks to their armor) and arty become almost useless in closed small maps.

      • WG should at least dont allow Ensk for tiers higher than 4 – you just cant do shit in a tier 8 arty on a 600×600 map.

              Take light tanks into consideration. They are way more demanding on players skill, yet all the reworked maps are taking their advantages away.

              And some camper coward morons are still crying about arty? It requires absolutely no effort or skill, just RNG and hope that your team wont fall too fast. So two maps are not great for arty. Big fucking deal that needs to be solved ASAP. I wonder why people just wont go hang themselves if their idea of fun is sitting in corner of the map, clicking left mouse button when the timer goes down and crying that 5% of WoT maps is bad for them.

                What about TD’s? “deal free damage”?

                Arties take loads of effort to get the same performance as a TD of the same tier.
                Just because arties one-shot or crit-damage a vehicle once in a while without spotting them or being spotted does not mean it’s “free damage”.
                If a heavy manage to bounce a lot of shots at a choke point because no enemy dares to flank him (“arty/TD fire behind that heavy”). Is that “free bounces”?

                Oh and about lights and meds, yes they generally require more skills and efforts to excel, but good luck playing these vehicles without support from arties played by “some camper coward morons”.

  6. PVE modes? I guess they are a bit scared by Armored Warfare…It’s just too strange that just now they decided to implement PVE.

    • They’ve been constantly changing the game, planning and implementing new features for the past 4-5 years. Wouldn’t it be stranger if they had stopped the game’s development as more competitors appeared?

      • I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing. Competition is always good. Without WarThunder WoT wouldn’t have HD models, without AW, WoT probably wouldn’t have any plans for PVE.

        The fact that they think about PVE is just a proof that they are actually worried that someone will take their money if they don’t improve their game.

        For the past few years WoT was the only tank MMO out there, and we all know how slow the developing process was. Lately since WT:GF and AW, WoT is actually doing some work.

          That’s a nonsense – HD works already started before WT:GF showed their HD models. They were in preparation for I guess maybe a year before GF.

          Or do you think it’s possible to whip out HD models just a few (three, it was?) months after GF show theirs? It isn’t.

        • Ofc they are worried they can lose revenue when competition shows up. Sure AW will fill its own niche just like WT:GF did (though let’s hope it does a better job at it), but there will be some people leaving WoT for AW. WT and AW plan to make money by vampirizing some of WoT’s playerbase, those interested in whatever niche it is they fill. It is only fair that in return WG improves WoT to try and win the overlap fight between their game and the competition, so that those who wouldn’t automatically leave WoT for the competition (those who would are those interested in whatever niche is being filled by the respective games) but are still inerested because of various secondary reasons (nicer graphics, historical setups for WT, PVE and nice graphics for AW) have to actively make a decision on which game to play.

    • I wouldn’t mind a 15-minute PVE Kursk battle of just constant respawning in a new T-34 every time I die. Make it not about winning/losing but about earning credits and XP for the damage and spotting. Maybe also include bonuses for fewer deaths to discourage complete zerg suicide tactics (despite that being historical), maybe as a credit/XP multiplier.

    • Well what I seen so far about the game it will be a direct copy of WoT in gameplay vise but I don’t mind it. Copying a successful game could not go wrong,
      AW posted some pics on facebook about E3 and there are some pics where you can see the ingame.

      Isn’t it familiar? Even the helping stripe is there but it’s blue-red not green-red. :D
      Funny to see but as I said before I don’t mind copying. I can’t wait to try it out despite that I don’t really like modern tanks because they all looks the same. Oh and there will be armored cars too \o/.

    There are already several options in game:
    - be AFK and going smoke
    - going back to garage and get some XP for spotting
    - my favourite way on Campinovka when whole team is camping within one square again: drowning myself (especially if you are Tier X tank it’s funny to see how the others start whining – but still do not move :) )
    But the most important point: logout and login again to change the cluster, so you get another set of maps to play on it.

      • They don’t have sets, but you change the timing. The maps are “all” in rotation, so if you have average duration of battle, you can end up in a loop. By waiting a bit or changing servers you get out of it.

      • Yeah, it’s true.
        You have never the full choice of all maps. If you log in you are on a certain cluster (within the server you have choosen) and this cluster have it’s own selection of maps.
        Think about your last game sessions, within one game session you have always played the same handful of maps, right?

        So a relogin gives you a high chance of another cluster. I do that everytime I’m on Malinovka – and usually it works, I won’t see that map anymore after relogin.

        But I have to say, Malinovka is a very good map, but it needs knowledge of the view system and as most players are as intelligent as WG staff it doesn’t work in daily life.

      • Why? nRicochet – (the official community liar for germany) stated: You are allowed to do anything you don’t take as unfair behaviour. He said that in context of using bots and mods – but I think if a WG official says you are allowed to use all the mods you want (including warpack) – I can’t see a problem with my behaviour.

        • Why do you play a multiplayer game if you’re going to be a burden to your teams whenever you don’t like the map? Just go play a frigging SP game.

          • Thanks for your opinion – but as SS (the debile WG developer) stated, there is no choice of maps because it’s not needed.
            Therefore you’re just wrong – I’m not a burden and everything is fine.
            If you have another opinion, it doesn’t meet the opinion of WG and is just wrong :)

            BTW: I’m playing for having fun. Given the fact that I’m even with my behaviour an “above average” player – I do really not see a problem. I don’t do the damage you could expect from me on a map – what does SerB say – ah yes: “How terrible”.
            WG says: There are no cheats.
            WG says: There are no bots.
            WG says: It’s not needed to have a skill based MM, even more it’s not possible (well it is possible if you don’t hire crap).

            And you say: Mimimi, a player does not play as I expect it? :)
            Are you serious? I think you are kidding me or just don’t see the true problems :)

    This scares me A LOT. Hope i have not to spend Gold on my x3 or x4 skilled crew to change skills that were usefull and then become trash…

      It doesn’t need a buff, but neither a nerf…
      That’s the only thing that makes me interested in 9.2.
      Maybe the rebalance of 50B too, but I know that it’ll surely be buffed.They specified that many times.

  9. Fuck what? Leopard 1 needs a rebalance, freaking nerf?! Fuck you WG. First the Tiger I then now Leopard 1. Leopard 1 doesn’t need a nerf in any shape or form, it’s by far inferior to a T-62A!! Why the need for nerfing it?! Fucking Belorussians, WG, kissing Putin’s balls and I thought gays aren’t permitted on Russia, but here we have WG!

    • Since when is balancing the same as nerfing? And what have Putin, Russia and Belorussia to do with anything?

      • In most cases the rebalance news are followed by nerfs. It’s safer to assume (not to get disappointed later) it will be the case again, you know, not even for balance, but historical accuracy or some shit like that.

  10. Hmm..another low tier premium mission this summer? US has one going right now for June, 15k xp per day for 28 days, get a T1E6 and 12 days of Premium time (3 days premium for every 7 days completed). There’s even 2 “mulligan” days included in case of life getting in the way (I’ve used one myself, and hope to not need the other).

  12. Lots of things going in the right direction and overall gj wg. I still feel that balancing tx is a tricky business and actually wouldnt nerf th fv (I dont own one so no bias). Its oneshot ability is its defining feature. Oh and dont you dare to touch my Jageru. I still feel the nerf to my e3 was a bad choice, it lost a lot of potential. Better nerf those autoloaders (wt and t57) some more.

  14. 1. No, not PVE – screw this mode then.
    2. Commontesting this on different client is a dumb idea, not enough players interested – just like strongholds. It should be done supertester-style, on live server with “test mode” warning and partial stats wipe afterwards (+like separate earning, or just don’t bother with denying players a bit of extra earning). For now stronghold test is a failure and HB testing will be a similar failure.

    Damn, was hoping they ditched the second prokhorovka. Don’t think I can handle that horrible shit map twice in the rotation.
