For bigger news, see the previous Storm post. Otherwise, not much today.

- Q: “Noone needs FV4005 when it will oneshot everything!” A: “How terrible!”
- apparently, in 9.5 (with the introduction of FV4005), FV215b (183) will be rebalanced (SS: according to hints, made slower and more armored)
- for now, it’s not sure whether FV4005 will have a fully rotating turret
- right now, modellers are working on HD models for cca 150 tanks
- HD maps are also being worked on

  1. - apparently, in 9.5 (with the introduction of FV4005), FV215b (183) will be rebalanced

I wonder how that will go :3

    - for now, it’s not sure whether FV4005 will have a fully rotating turret.

I hope not, it would look absurd and beyong physics for 183mm gun not to topple a Centurion hull.

    • The 251b(183) will be nerfed to death while the 4005 will be OP as usual when invented so people waste tons of free XP to get the new OP TD, which then will be nerfed with 0.9.7.

    • Why are people always assuming that recoil is soooo strong that it flips around 40 tonnes so easily ? The force required to flip over a 40 tonnes tank even when shooting sideways is way beyond the recoil force of the gun, and even if it would be that strong the turret ring would break much earlier than the tank tipping over.

I shot everything from 105mm to 120 and 155mm in my army career and no gun had close the recoil force to rock the tank more than 20cm when fired sideways. Neither the SK105 fell over sideways when fired, nor the Leopard of the M109 .. Its an urban legend that guns have so strong recoil that they flip over the entire vehicle. Thats what recoil breaks are for, otherwise the gun would be go flying through the rear of the turret after a shot.

        • Not in a closed house but in a closed tank. Its not loud at all, even without ear protection its not that loud inside the tank. A 7,62mm HMG is louder if you pull the trigger to be honest.

      • Movies. It’s the same origin like “shotgun can lift person off his feet and make him fly a metre or two” or “when you shoot a person from a handgun, they are pushed back”. Yay, dramatic effect!

    • I’m not an expert on tank design but I’m pretty sure that tanks were designed to support the turret as evenly as possible for whole turret ring. So I think there are some kind of counterweights but also the breech and recoil mechanism on the opposite side of turret than the gun itself. Recoil mechanism should also soften the recoil.

If someone here is tank designer or mechanic, please enlighten me if I’m correct, these are just my assumptions.

      • Neither designer nor mechanic, but ex-gunner. Sure the turret is balance on the ring, otherwise it would “eat itself”. The weight would be too heavy if it wasnt perfectly balanced and it would bend the metal on one side jamming the turret completely. As for the recoil, of course there are countermeasures. Recoil breakes with compressing fluids and springs to pull it back help manage recoil greatly. They are installed infront or around of the gun, so they kind of not break it against the rear end of the turret but catch it before it even gets there. Also recoil lenght is a factor. The longer the breech can recoil, the lower the force gets when its hits the end.

        • Hey, thanks for answer. I must say I’m pretty familiar with mechanics and physics because of my education and work, so I know how it works but not the details of turret installation and fire control. I’ve mostly seen only pre-50′s tank turrets from inside. Also many modern, and not so modern, drawings and schematics remain undisclosed for various reasons, or need digging I can’t do.

E: Also I think the mounting height of the gun has great effect on vehicle rocking sideways when shot. Higher mounting point needs longer recoil length?

        • As one of the people research the FV4005, the limited traverse is a very very distinct possibility, and vehicle stability was a serious concern, to the point where they were considering redesigning the firing spade.

    • At last!
It is quite annoying even now, when you see a player in your team, who can’t hit a slowly moving tank close to himself only because he already has 5-10FPS and he thinks, that it is ok to play the game like that.

      • He is the same client as you are. He may be not spending a lot on his PC, but e.g. buying premium, so he is worth more for WG than many more freeloaders. Also, there is a simple fix for FPS increase in WoT.
Play arty :-). Not only FPS matter even less there, but in the god view you will have significantly more FPS.

Wat? i dont anymore I started to harte arty due to my bad RNG in it and now i hate it because all of them shoot me whyle rolling 60 miles whyle taking a curve

  2. Oneshot everything ? When it gets the same crap gun as the FV183 it wont oneshot anything. Hesh does exciting 300-500 dmg if oyu hit anything else than a WTE100 now, and AP misses half the time and does 0 dmg the other half. I doubt that tank will be any good if they wont give it very good gun handling.

    • i used ap most of the time and didn’t miss nothing, use the thing called “aming” it’s some sort of black magic, but if you learn it it’s verry powerfull

      • Problem is when you need to aim for 20 seconds before you have sufficient accuracy you already cought two shells for 800 dmg before oyu fire yours for 1000. And while you retreat you get the third hit.

Gun handling on the FV183 is terrible. If you dont camp the entire game not moving and aiming down a corridor the entire time than its okay, if you have a somewhat dynamic playstyle the gun is total junk.

    • Say that to the poor 50B, who yesterday got -1800HP in the face after visiting the flank, which I was guarding and right after an E-50 was dead of one single shell taken in turret front.
And if that gun will have even slightly better aim time stats on 4005, then “Well, Hello Fun, here I come!” ;)

      • i didn’t see 20s aimtime maybe because my skilling stuff, but yea 4005 going to be fun, but 4004 if have the tortoise rof or similar one, thats going to be bigger fun :3

      • Happens once every 1000 games. When there is an AMX 13 90 speeding towards you and you hit it full blown into the side and tracks magically absorb all the damage leaving you with 400 dmg for a 8k credits 183mm HESH shell then you kind of stop using that crap. Since the nerf my FV carries a mixed loadout of AP and normal HE. If i can hit a weakspot than normal HE will do just the same as HESH, otherwise AP since hesh pens way too little now.

  3. If 183 will be more armored and slower, what is the point of JpE100, they will fuck up ballance of those tanks, and if Wg give FV 183 faster reload, there will be no point to get jpe100. Good thinking

  4. - HD maps are also being worked on

Nice even worse FPS if they don’t start to optimize their code and shader implementation…so when are they going to clean up all the non used code in the client? There is still a lot that runs, which has no function AND thus uses cpu cyles and system resources…which leads to poorer performance.

  5. offtopic, but what will be the new tech tree british MT/TD look like? It will start from tier 2 like this: M2A4-M3 Honey-M3 Grant-Sherman III/Archer- Firefly/Achille and what will be tier 7/8/9? 10th tier i know- Conway. And where will be Sherman I ?

  6. awesome…now that retarded broken piece of shit will actually bounce even more shells beside those weird RNG bounces it can achieve occasionally

  7. the only way to rebalance 183 is giving it a decent aim time, bcs he sucks right now.
band of suicide noobs without any know of map claiming he is OP, but in numbers he really sucks, mainly with AP.
