Nothing really going on with testing these days. Internally, WG is still “on track”, the patch 9.5 is scheduled for late December, which means that the common 9.5 will start somewhere around early december and the supertest should start in late November. It’s all very, very tight.

- Q: “WTF devs I live in Volgograd (Stalingrad) why did you not put the house I live in on the map and deleted it to make room for one of the bases?” A (SerB): *sobbing*
- Q: “Developers, currently I am grinding with T-34-3 and I am doing a lot of damage with someone else spotting. If you are going to nerf viewrange, will you give premium tanks some profit compensation for the loss of damage done when someone else was spotting?” A (SerB): “Let’s say we reduce the viewrange. If we reduce the viewrange, damage with someone else spotting will make a larger share from the total damage done. Are you proposing to reduce the rates in order to keep the situation as it is now? Okay, we’ll think about it!”
- Q: “Why are you making unfair missions/events?” A (SerB): “So greedy kids like you suffer”
- Storm states, that if you have a sharp FPS drop when you “light up” (scout) several enemies at once, it might mean your HDD is slow and takes a long time to load the models. Defragmentation sometimes helps somewhat.
- Individual Missions (the ones in 0.9.5 with Object 260, T55A and T28 Concept) will not be time-limited (SS: as in, there will not be a specific time limit in which you have to achieve the objective), but Storm at the same time is warning that you shouldn’t be too happy about that just yet, because the conditions will be difficult.

WG Top Coding – because loading into RAMs is too difficult.

    • Yeah this is confusing me too.

Is using the HDD instead of RAM common now?

Or is WG more insane than I thought.

    • Makes you wonder what shit actually /is/ loaded into RAM, worldoftanks.exe uses 1GB just idling in the garage.

Such a shitty solution considering how slow laptop HDDs tend to be, even if they shouldn’t write the game for total calculators.

        • do you have any idea how computers work

it doesn’t seem like you have any idea how computers work

also: pre-loading vehicles could *possibly* enable a client (mod, hack etc) to know enemy tank types in a fog of war situation

          • So you recon they thought it would be a good idea to screw people over in every battle purely for clan wars?

I tend to err towards incompetence.
HDD is for long term persistent storage, not for game assets that need to be loaded at short notice.

Even if I wanted to add an SSD for WOT I can’t, My machine literally can’t take any more disks, so until I can ‘cheaply’ replace my 2TB drives with SSDs, I’m sticking to my spinning metal.
-and instantly ramming my tanks into reverse if I think I’m going to be spotting something, and hoping the commands get through.
            Which is another problem…
The game is still single threaded and so lags loading data while trying to keep the gfx card updated and dealing with user input are annoying and very real.
Loading data from the HDD should be separated from the renderer and ui, and networking…
THIS is the sort of thing that makes people ask for multithreading in the game.

The lag is the real problem here, not the models showing up slightly slower.
Fix that and there will be far less complaints. Pre-loading is a stopgap, and a solution to slow model loading. If the game were up to date, HDD caused lag wouldn’t even be a problem

    • The models are very likely memory mapped. So you can use them freely but still having the unnecessary ones not loaded. Atleasts thats how I would do it. Loading all of them in memory is very likely impossible as WoT’s game data is close to 10GB now, and thats WITH compression. So without compression I would say close to 50GBs….

I don’t mind if its difficult, as long as I have as much time I want to do this, I don’t mind spending 2 to 3 months trying to get a unique tank… that’s what I hated in IS-6 and Super Pershing missions.

    • Exactly! If we have unlimited time, it’s just like grinding a T10 tank without the need to buy it at the end, because we earned it with our blood :P

    • What if
      - Win 100 battles in a row with at least 4 kills and no team damage
      - Above mission twice for every tier X in game, get the tank

    • 15 mill xp and get the stock is7
      10 to get the t55
5 to get the t28 concept
you have a year to get them, next year the prems change.

      • Obtain one marks of excellence on one (or more) tier X : get a T28 concept. Obtain 2 marks, get a T-55. For 3 marks, get the Object 260.

    • supert pershing mission and IS-6 missions were the easier ones IIRC.
Just 100k xp per nation tier6 only.
      It was okay-ish.

I hate missions “do something easy, but do it every fucking day” or “do something relatively easy 20 out of 25 days”

Getting 700k xp in one month is easier than getting 25k every day, then it resets next day so you can get another 25k portion…

    • The fact that there will be no time limit might still not mean you can’t “fail” the missions (if they are something like choose tank, play 100 battles and win 65). Just sayin’…

  3. - Q: “WTF devs I live in Volgograd (Stalingrad) why did you not put the house I live in on the map and deleted it to make room for one of the bases?”

Maybe his house wasn’t built when WW2?

  4. - Q: “Developers, currently I am grinding with T-34-3 and I am doing a lot of damage with someone else spotting. Okay, we’ll think about it!”
If scouts after the nerf will receive less XP for the same spotting damage they do now, what is the point of the nerf? — spotting dmg is not going to increase that much among the scouts after the nerf given the sort of maps we have to play, I found one bush in Stalingrand and it is not in the best ‘camo’ condition.

    • Besides, who DOESN’T scout their own damage with the T-34-3? You can’t snipe, and on ranges you fight other tanks you will still spot them even after the nerf.

    • “do 500k spotting damage with…arty”

Aint that hard, go lowtier arty and camo up :D

“kill by ram 8k… heavy tanks”

      Go play E-50/E-50M

      “do 1kk damage with… tier 6 lts”

Thats actually easy, T6 scouts are great dmg dealers…

      • Yeah, I played my AMX 12T in skirmishes when the KV-1S was still stronk, one our KVs would take shots at theirs and then I’d rush in, take two out, get out. rinse, repeat.

    • I fear it might be something related to average stats or row of battles with specific conditions. Long rows.

    • Get FV302 or AMX13 and just rush the enemies, done.
Get E50 or AMX50 and ram the shit out of stuff, done.
Get T37 and do tons of dmg, done.

Thats nothing that cant be achieved, time limit is the only thing that would mess things up badly. But if they really have no limit that 3 prem tanks here i come :)

      • There is the factor of “winning streaks” which are quite difficult to achieve. They had 1 mission some months ago where we had to win 8 random battles in a row and feature in the top 10 (I guess) players to complete it. These are difficult to achieve expecially for average players (like me).

  6. “WTF devs I live in Volgograd (Stalingrad) why did you not put the house I live in on the map and deleted it to make room for one of the bases?”

    And ?
    Who cares ?

  7. Not time limited missions ? Thats the best news ever. I cant imagine anything that would be so hard to achieve if you have the time for it :)

    • Obtaining medals like Burda’s could be impossible, there isn’t enough arty around. 5 arties = once per 1000 games, and it takes an insane amount of luck to kill them all yourself.

So if they want to buttfuck the community, give burda’s medal as an objective.

  8. Hello,I’m new here and I have questions, who this SerB and why it is so arrogant?
Q: “Why are you making unfair missions/events?” A (SerB): “So greedy kids like you suffer”
    WTF

    • He’s one of the head honchos at WarGaming, and this is what he’s been doing basically forever.

      • I see by the responses that it is not too smart, if there is a head honchos why not hire someone smart to be his spokesman,he could then shut up and take the money that we “the children” gave him.

        • His responses aren’t supposed to be smart because the questions asked are usually completely ridiculous. (Why isn’t my house on a map? Why are missions hard?) Most of us who have a sense of humour and aren’t the whiney kids asking dumb questions, actually think he’s pretty funny and generally justified with his answers.

          • I understand your point of view, but he should be a professional,he earns on the people who ask such questions (though not on the all, but on the majority) and he should be behave accordingly. If the question is silly let him disregarded or respond more professional, if it is his job to answer such a qestion. To answer a dumb question just to be answered silly for fun this is not the job of someone who is serious or professional,i’m just saying. This is just my opinion, sorry for my english it is not my native tongue i hope you understand my point, the end :)

  9. So when I first spot a tank I load its model from HDD? Holy shitcode batman! Good thing I have the game on SSD but still… I’d expect something with 9.4 version number to have trivial shit like this solved long time ago.

  10. - Storm states, that if you have a sharp FPS drop when you “light up” (scout) several enemies at once, it might mean your HDD is slow and takes a long time to load the models. Defragmentation sometimes helps somewhat.

It actually helps sometimes – I know when enemy is near.

  11. “Developers, currently I am grinding with T-34-3 and I am doing a lot of damage with someone else spotting. If you are going to nerf viewrange, will you give premium tanks some profit compensation for the loss of damage done when someone else was spotting?”
    - If you get alot of damage in a medium tenk by others spotting, you doing it wrong, stop camping and be closer to the battle fucking nub.

  12. When it comes to difficult things, obtaining 3 MoE on multiple tanks is the only thing that comes to my mind.

Everything else is a matter of time.

Of course there are objectives that would totally ruin the mission (get a Burda’s medal – good luck!), but I don’t think they’d actually screw us up that bad.

  13. SS are there any plans to nerf artillery? Its simply fkn horrible right now. Im getting clicked hard every few battles, game is ceasing to be fun yet again because of point & click adventure game noobs. And its not like im not using cover or anything.
If they actually nerf viewrange and leave arty unchanged this game is going to be one huge unplayable crap.

    • you sir are a retard.

They click on you because they possibly are useing XVM and they target the good players first.

or you sit in the same fucken spot all the time and arty players lead there victim its not as easy as it sounds. but thats how you play a support role. also point and click.. thats what you do in every tank you play right? retard lol

So its not the artys fault and also look at pre 8.6 You must be fucken new here lol

      • Yeah, it’s funny how people only started to complain AFTER 8.6. Jesus Christ. It was okay even then, now there is literally no problem.

      • I dont understand these whines either.

I’m not arty player, I got one – S-51 unlocked from KV-2. I’m not good in it either, but it helped me to form the opinion on arty players greatly. It’s not that easy as it seems. At least S-51… narrow gun traverse as fuck, terrible accuracy and aimtime… Yes sometimes there is a LUCKY shot when I hit moving target while not fully aimed, but other times its miss after miss when fully aimed at stationary targets.

Most funny are the whiners… camping Jtiger, 3 shots miss him very closely, and 4th shot killed him. Suddenly he goes full rage “skycancer clicker noob…” … I mean, fuck it was 4th shot… He knew I was shooting at him for 3 minutes and didnt bother to relocate …. And I am noob now ?

      • Playing since beginning of closed beta. artillery always was a problem and still is. I think this class was added so mentally handicapped people could get kills as well. If you think 8.6 arty rebalance fixed anything you must be either blind or denying facts. Just count how many tomatoes are there getting good scores and kills on arty. I cant count games where arty ruined them for me. Moving around the corner and shooting with my JagdPanther in the city on Port? Get clicked for 100% hp. Crossing the street on Ruinberg? How about losing 67% hp so you cant do shit for rest of the game? Going 60km/h with my WZ-131, avoiding all the heavy tank and TD shots? Well too bad, clickers never sleep.
Arty is cancer devouring this game. Its not a fix for camping, its forcing camping. Arty is just plain no-fun allowed for every class other than arty.

        • how many times did it happen to you to kill arty ? every 5th game ?
How often do they oneshot you?
They are not complaining you kill them in 3 shots while they miss their first one and are harmless for 50 seconds while you are driving around and shooting every 5 seconds ?

          It’s just different class.
I’m not arty player, got single one and its even stock yet.
I’m not defending them, just saying its a different class.
We can all hate something about any class.

Oh I’m sorry you dont enjoy the game because not all players play the class you like.
I’ve never had any problems against arties. Yes they are pain in the ass, and yes they can oneshot you. But it happens so rarely. If it happens to you often, you should reconsider the way you play. Every tank in the game can oneshot anything it faces. If you happen to destroy ammorack.

in my 50 or so games in a lifetime as arty driver, I found out that most people whining about skycancer clickers are actually pretty stupid. I miss one shot. he’s still sitting there, I miss 2nd shot, he’s still sitting there. I hit him with 3rd shot(bear in mind this is ~100 seconds after the first shot ), kill him, he starts to cry like a baby and call me clicker noob. And this is with 80% of my targets all the time…

          • Artillery does not promote aggressive game play, it punishes it , as most maps are basically three corridors arty can lock them down and wreck anything that breaks cover. Why should arty be able to change the outcome of a game given the skill required to drive it compared to the skill required to drive something like a 50 B is minuscule? It is an escape for people unable to perform well in normal tanks and promotes nothing but camping and shitty games , the only reason people defend artillery is because they enjoy being able to click people away, not because it is balanced.

          • “They are not complaining you kill them in 3 shots while they miss their first one and are harmless for 50 seconds while you are driving around and shooting every 5 seconds ?”
They are harmless for 10 minutes because im on other side of the map where they can shoot me freely and i cant even see them.

If bugii is your game account name, i cant blame you. You have less than 2k games so you have simply no idea how high tier arty works. Low tier artillery may be quite harmless unless you stay not moving for prolonged amount of time, but it doesnt apply to experienced clickers in their 2k damage per shot skyhammers. Even getting hit by splash removes half of your hp sometimes.

  14. I know that problem with fps drops when you scout 6-8 tanks at one time, and its a shame for WG. i7 3770k, 16GB DDR3 and a SSD, where wot is installed shouldnt allow that. But somehow they managed to do it that bad. For me its a small one, 50 fps goes down to 30 for a sec, but many other players will have tight problems with that.

    • It’s really idiotic that anyone with the resources available should have to deal with this in any way.

A checkbox in options offering to preload tank models, and a condition check during the loading screen (if enabled, load *everything* instead of just whatever is in range). That’s all it would take to reduce or eliminate framerate dips for the portion of the playerbase with computers that are newer than half a decade old/not low-end preassembled garbage.

  15. “Q: “WTF devs I live in Volgograd (Stalingrad) why did you not put the house I live in on the map and deleted it to make room for one of the bases?””

    Like anyone cares…
Yes, that map is based on real environment… COOL! They took a part of the city that probably 0.3% of players recognize. Why there isnt that fountain of children playing or something else ? Honestly, how many of you guys would know its Stalingrad if it wasnt the name of that map ?

Seriously… putting a “real world” maps of places no one knows…

In that case even Malinovka is based upon real world… that place actually exists somewhere in the ass of this planet, somewhere where you will never find it.

  16. - Storm states, that if you have a sharp FPS drop when you “light up” (scout) several enemies at once, it might mean your HDD is slow and takes a long time to load the models. Defragmentation sometimes helps somewhat.

It is really, really, beyond me why in this day and age where most if not all pc’s have at least 4gb of ram, WG doesn’t make the client 4Gb capable. Then load all data at the start of EVERY match so we no longer have such backward hiccups because the darn thing needs to load a model/sound/whatever at the last micro second from hdd into memory.
This, is really beyond me, it’s almost 2015 for C sake!

  17. -Nothing really going on with testing these days. Internally, WG is still “on crack”
    Fixed the typo for you.
