Hello everyone,

about a month ago, Wargaming released (for Japanese audience only, although technically anyone could get it) another modpack for Girls und Panzer in limited amount (30 thousand downloads). This modpack contained some emblems and skins from GuP (some odd Russian symbol for the “Russian” school if I understand it correctly). Here’s the promotion video.

 

 

Unfortunately, the even was not without a screwup, as Jinxed explains:

“- Not only the voice mods but the whole /audio folder, bloating the archive to 1.3GB
- They couldn’t just instruct the users to copy the /audio folder to res_mods
- Some strange XML files that were probably not needed
- Skins copied from Torys’s packs.. no credit given in the readme
- Skins include old versions that need a file name change ‘_AM’ removed to work (Matilda, Ferdinand)
- Skins also include SD versions of now HD models and don’t work (M3 Lee, IS)
- Fuzzy and/or artefacted image files for the crew. Also no explanation that replacing them would make the crews randomly show up and not in their respective crew positions.

On top of this, the downloads were limited to the first 30,000 users starting at 5:00PM JST, most of the users in Japan seem to have gotten download interrupted and the archive was broken once finished.”

  4. Yeah, quite stupid pack… have to agree there, sadly.
    But then, most of Japanese aren’t exactly IT wonders (see: webpages optimized for IE7-8, overusage of Flesh, using wavs in VNs, etc, etc)

          • No, I understand that some like beer, some like dogs or cats, some horses, some whores or cars.
            But for a guy to like some cartoon bullshit obviously made for kids…
            Only cartoon that looks like that MLP and is really for adults is Happy Tree Friends :D

            • MLP has been for kids but also for parents (you have a lot of references in the serie that only parents can understand)

              But to be honest, I prefer the fandom than the serie

              And I also really like Happy Tree Friends :D

            • I don’t think it’s wrong for adults to like MLP, it’s just…..so disgusting when people just paint Japanese school girls on a war machine like tanks. They need to learn to not to put all the things they like in ONE package.

              • Fair enough. It is a pretty gross idea to do something like put anime characters on tanks. But I don’t think this mod does that…
                At most I think it just puts in gold and red camouflage for the stug.

            • Yeah, it’s very adultish to watch some cheap-ass drawn gore on pink fluffy animals with painfully slapstick “humor” all over it. That’s why I don’t know a single adult watching HTF, but a shit ton of kids wanking over it.

  11. Fucking Anime ruined Asia Server :( I’m one from Asia Server Since this damn Anime come out and japan join the server. Every Events is just about drawing damn cartoon and a lot of ridiculous events. This server has been occupied by fucking Otaku. I’m fucking tired of it. :(

    • hmm, afaik those ‘drawing damn cartoon events’ has only been held thee times. once every month..

      the rest of the events are just, well, normal events.. such as ‘get as much medals as possible while also collecting X medal’ or ‘destroy as much tanks as possible with X tank’ variants..

      • and what about their anime skin /sounds download content? that’s wasting time
        Why don’t they just make the game better and make more historical skin or something else.

  13. Yeah, I was so disappointed. I was hoping for WG made GuP skins and… they just repackage stolen USER MADE content. Sigh, stronk wargaming, very fail!
