Stream with Russian Community Managers
Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3003146.html
Hello everyone,
just like last year, Maiorboltach from Russian LJ community makes yet another transcription of Russian stream with community managers (never heard the nicknames before, so I’ll just take his word on that – their names are Alexei “Inaki” Ilyin, Alexei “Orc” Protnikov and Alexander “Twitch79″ Safronov). Here’s how he summarized it:
- apparently, the Wargaming signed contract with Twitch and it will be possible in the future to stream directly from the game
- in 9.0, there will be 12 HD models and a part of Havok engine
- in 9.0, there will be some unannounced features for garage and crew
- there is a high probability HESH shells mechanism will not be reworked (SS: *sigh*)
- 9.0 will bring ammo rack explosions and turrets flying off, but Maus turret will not fly off, it will just fall on the side of the tank, it’s possible other components (hatches, handles etc.) will fly off too during the explosion
31.1.2014
Not much today
- quality of armor is not taken into account in World of Tanks
- recently, one of the “lesser” developers posted on RU forums that “higher caliber guns have bigger chance of damaging modules” – Yurko2F explains how this really works: it has nothing to do with the chance to avoid module saving throw, but ever shell has a separate stat for module damage, that depends on the caliber of the gun and thus bigger guns have bigger chance of causing enough damage for a module to become yellow (or red)
- Storm confirms that the 8.11 version of T-54 is final, after that it will be the HD version
- Storm states that it’s not true that the later a tank came out (SS: in WoT), the later it will be remodelled to HD
Vulcan Wheeled Carrier
Source: http://shushpanzer-ru.livejournal.com/ LJ page
Hello everyone,
I usually try not to copy stuff one to one, but this is just freaking badass. Check this out:
This is the Vulcan Wheeled Carrier from like mid 80′s (the picture is dated 1985) by Standard Manufacturing. According to tank-net forums, this vehicle is described in the “Modern U.S. Military Vehicles” publication as follows:
The Standard Manufacturing Company of Dallas, Texas, used their practical little 8×8 Trailing Arm Drive chassis as the mount for the Gatling Gun, using hydrostatic drive and braking and a GVW of 16,000 pounds. Ground clearance varied from 10 to 22 inches, and the top speed was 45 miles per hour using a Detroit Diesel 6.2 liter V-8 135 horsepower.
Clan logos deletion update
Hello everyone,
regarding the disappearance of clan logos, according to Wargaming, it’s a bug and it will be fixed (apparently with server reset).

RU server tier 10 discount: FV 215b (183)
Hello everyone,
at this point, we can safely assume that the tier 10 tank discounts will no longer unified, because there are some notable differences. From 1.2.2014 to 15.2.2014, Russian server will have the FV215b (183) on discount. SEA server on the other hand will have it from 7.2. to 21.2. (same vehicle, after which comes IS-4 and after IS-4 comes E-50 Ausf.M). US Server has tier 10 discount on Jagdpanzer E-100 until 3.2.
There are currently no news about the tier 10 EU server discount, but it’s still possible we might get one…
Edit: according to the EU February 2014 calendar, tier 10 discounts are returning
Clan logos being deleted on WG EU
Hello everyone,
when this issue appeared first was like a day or two ago, when a player contacted me, saying his clan’s logo was deleted on WG EU server, because there was a skull on it. At first, I didn’t pay too much attention to this, because I kinda thought it got deleted because skulls might be associated with SS Totenkopf (well, at least some types might resemble them).
Either way, reports started piling in and today, player Corehorn reported that this issue became quite massive, both on global map and in the client. As you can see, many clans had their logos replaced by default WG logo, including EXNOM, 9-TD and others. Here, you can see how it looks now on the global map:
Here you can see Corehorn’s clan (IXC) old logo (you can see for yourselves it’s not illegal or anything)
And here the “new logo”
Given the mass nature of this phenomenon, I’d say we are looking once again at one of Wargaming EU fails. Anyone has any more info about it, for example support tickets from the aforementioned clans and how they were handled?
Red Star – White Elephant? – the failure of Soviet heavy tank
Hello everyone,
this text was linked to be by Dr_Wycior – thank you for that mate. It is about the state and development of Soviet heavy tanks after the war. It was written by Stephen L. “Cookie” Sewell, US Army intelligence officer and translator. It’s interesting, because unlike some other American authors, he draws from Soviet (Russian) sources.
The article came out originally in July 2002 in the ARMOR magazine and I think it’s well worth reading. Soviet post-war heavies were not the monsters many think they were.
