Straight Outta Supertest: IS-2, ISU-122S

Hello everyone,

two move vehicles from supertest. Stats are not known yet, but these are NOT usual vehicles for sale, they will be a part of some event.

IS-2

Description:

“Heavy tank IS-2 (IS-122) was the result of the IS-1 modernization and from 1944 onwards recieved a more simple vast frontal armor. As a part of the Independent guard heavy tank regiments, IS-2 was used actively to assault fortified enemy cities such as Budapest, Breslau and Berlin. In order to recognize themselves, these vehicles were carrying special recognition signs – white stripes. This model represents a tank of the 7th Guard Tank Brigade, the photography of it under the Brandenburg Gate became widely known.”

  1. So this IS 2 has 20hp more than the Chinese, 30 better frony hull amour, and better gun stats including 4 rpm more.

    Hope these are soft stats.

      • There were many versions of the IS-2.
The step design we see in the Soviet IS.
The 90mm (lightened for maneuverability, as it was too front heavy) chinese IS-2
        A 100mm version of the IS-2
        And this IS-2 1944 120mm.

  3. … why do I get this feeling that those logs will count as spaced armor for the IS-2 and ISU-122S (speaking of which, isn’t the ISU-152 packing the D-25 122 effectively become an ISU-122S?) though.

and the designations I believe will be the IS-2B due to the Berlin thing or an IS-2M.

btw whats the total difference for the IS-2 1943 which is the fully upgraded IS(?) and the IS-2B which is kinda the IS-2 1944 aside from the better view?

    • The original IS-2 from 1943 and earlier was just an IS-1 with a 122 mm D25-T instead of the 85mm D-5T. They eventually realized that the driver’s port on the IS hull was a major vulnerability, what with it being so flat, so they got rid of it and extended the angled section up to the top of the hull.

    • Dev 1: “How can we make a boring clone tank special and wanted?”
Dev 2: “I know, tactical logs and white stripes!!!”
WOT crowd: “Oh thank you, magnificent Dev lords, for new and special tanks! Can we have more plz? With names also? We beg you!”

  4. They’re both much better than the elite ones – IS and SU-152 / 122. Where the hell is the balancing department ? Taking a vacation ?

  5. Elite gun: 122mm D-25S
    Damage: 390
    Penetration: 175
    ROF: 8,456
    DPM: 3297,7

Holy shit, is this a joke? It’s better than Su 152

  6. Please dont waste these models wargaming because these are 2 of the nicest looking models they have ever shown so if these are just for some event that will be kind of heartbreaking because they look so good plus i doubt their regular premiums plus the IS-2 has a better rof than the current IS so that strikes me as an event tank immediately which is a real shame :(

    • SerB: “You see Ivan, when add HD logs like so, you change weight of tenk, so never having to of change MM because tenk of rebalanced!”

  7. I wonder if this HD models will get those ridiculous tracks which are on HD IS. Otherwise i dont get purpose of doing more and more same vehicles as a rewards. Make it at least premium and not just reward with no credit income boost. And pls fuck delete those platoon IMs.. It ruins my progress.. No i know i can just stfu and fuck myself.

    • Well, from the perspective of one who plays more War Thunder now, there is a major difference between model 1943(IS-1 hull) and model 1944(seen above) when it comes to the UFP. Sloped 120mm is much better than the flat driver’s port from IS-1. Additionally, there were improvements in the turret that improved reload speed. And there’s the 12.7mm MG on top. Makes for nice AA defense. Looking at it from a real life or simulator point of view, it makes sense to differentiate between the two. From an arcade stand point… eh, not so much…

      • I didnt talk about differences of IS-1 and 2 i know about them. But i mean that there will be 3 very similar tanks in game – IS, IS-2 and IS-2 reward with pretty much same characteristics and guns. About tracks – tracks are not the hull. Look at tracks on IS HD model in game than to IS-2 and this IS-2 reward. The ones on HD IS are so brutaly big in comparsion with ones on IS-2s. ISU-152 and ISU-122 same vehicles one elite one not. why omg. I just want them to make something different. e.g. add some HD models of other tanks more quickly.

  8. Extra logs for extra soviet supremacy and extra rng protection against fascist box tanks. xaxaxaxaxa

  9. “Gun traverse: 16 degrees to each side”

    Tier VII.

    ROF: 8,456
    DPM: 3297,7
    Reload: 7,096

122-44 says no damage for you

  10. Better Gun Depression, Nearly IS-6′s RoF. slightly higher HP, better engine…..The buff of USSR tree’s IS on the 100mm gun already smash hard on the PRC’s IS-2….now they bring in this to smash even harder….g fucking g WG….

    • I hope not too much…

“Hey let’s remove first of the day x2 bonus in favor of connecting every day for 5 days in a row for an equivalent bonus, or worse, because it’s random! Let’s also add more and more tanks while keeping hopelessly broken and random damage and driving models ! ”

      *Exocet uninstalls*

I was seriously told by a moderator in-game that Gaijin had a fine business model with more and more players (lies).
Sure. Fine in the sense they almost FORCE you to buy a premium tank to grind past tier4 (equivalent to tier7-8 in WoT) without losing your mind.

Seriously, I want to love that game, but the devs are so hellbent on sodomizing the players with bad decisions in favor of maximum cashgrab, I can’t play it a single day without rage-quitting it and uninstalling.

  11. Both these tanks looks cool. If they will put them in missions or make a new mod I might start playing this shitty game for a while again.

  12. WG seems to have tied SerB up and are doing what they want now, first Jingles’ physics vid actually made me pretty hype for the new physics and now these tanks are balanced despite being russian???

  13. I really love my IS and I would love to be able to unlock a premium variant so I can always keep one that can train crews! Having that ISU-122S would be very nice too.

  14. “During WW2, this vehicle fulfilled the role of a powerful artillery piece and tank destroyer.”

I want an SPG that can transform into a TD, and vice versa!

    Voltron tank!
