as you probably know from the patchnotes, patch 9.3 is introducing new explosions to various objects, including gas tanks, wagons and some cars (not all, strangely enough). Here’s how it now looks:

If someone is hiding behind something explosive when you explode it, does it damage them or is this just eye candy?
Prob just an Eye candy
It is indeed just eye candy.
Yeah, bricks and other stuff that havok will bring won’t damage the tank so I don’t expect a visual effect to do so.
Michael Bay explosions, oh yeah!!
Daamn few second late…
Michael Bay Would Approve
For this to be true, WG would have to add Megan Fox crawling over the tanks, along with camera angles that best highlight her “talents”.
All romantic comedies should have a few car chases and feature the cast getting fried in an extended Michael Bay sequence lasting at least 15 minutes.
To the point. movie explosions are very non-explosive and involve a very small charge to vaporise the fuel and a secondary charge to ignite the vapour cloud. What you see is vapour fireworks all light and very little blast. So is seems with WoT explosions of fuel tanks. The real world AP would mostly pass through and only very rarely ignite a full or empty tank. An empty tank would be more likely to explode if it had the optimum fuel vapour air mixture but not have such a big explosion. The main danger would be flooding the yard with petrol and the pool of fuel being ignited by a spark from the tracks. HE would more likely produce something like the explosion WG have used but not always. RNG needs to be added to the system.
A pool of burning fuel on the ground might actually be cooler then the new effects.
Reason only some cars explode – wartime rationing – not all cars would have had fuel in their tanks.
Yeah, and some carts don’t carry fuel at all anyway. The ones on Ensk are ordinary storage carts, not fuel tanks.
Yay! Even less FPS for people playing on toasters!
Dont play on toaster !
But it’s so cool to play on a toaster…you can eat whenever you want…
Don’t play on toaster.
Hmm don’t be ninja’d
I’ve been playing wot since 2011 with my 100-200€ computer. This new effect ain’t gonna put me down! I survived the new 8.0 physics (thou it had massive impact on fps which wasn’t so good to begin with) so this will be nothing! This probably make my fps go 5 when it explodes. Thou i’m sure this is optional and shouldn’t affect guys who play on lowest.
I’ve heard good things about krakonfour’s FPS mods. Give those a shot?
Aha. Happened to download it few days ago. It’s not pretty, but at least it give like 5 avg fps more. It’s now around 15-30 fps in combat. Damn I wish there would be a mod that makes the UI less fps consuming. There was one, but it’s not up to date anymore. It’s amazing that I get 40fps when I’m in the tomato mode (press V key).
The question in the first comment reminded me of something…
I have noticed that in WT causing an ammo rack to an enemy tank while you’re in close proximity to it results in very high chances of your tank being destroyed as well… do you guys think that a similar mechanic would be good to have in WoT too? (in general, explosions causing HE damage or something if you’re too close?)
WG have already introduced secondary damage features such as drowning and falling off stuff. 9.3 brings ricochets and there is the promise of building damage creating obstructions and damage by falling masonry. All of which promise to make the game a richer environment for doing really stupid shit. And lets face that’s why we play.
:)) They look like cheap CGI:)))
Some stuff explode like mini nukes.
aaaaaand more stuff for people with crap PC’s have fps and lag problems..
They need to switch around the explosion sounds between the tanks and destructible objects. Tanks have 1 explosion to them. Cars, when you shoot them, blow up with 4-6 explosion sounds. This is backwards in my opinion.
Uuuuuuu…. shiny!
So will it just be a cosmetic effect or could you potentially damage vehicles that are close to the explosion?
WG tries to improve graphics, ppl with toasters complain about only because they refuse to upgrade their old pentium 1′s , just face it, you will have to upgrade at some point as the gaming industry isn’t going to try and cater for your needs forever :)
They should make open topped/paper vehicles eat some sh…rapnels when this happens next to them.

The lowresUI mod is here: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/129209-090-lowresallinone-mod-pack-on-hiatus/
Used to use it and it was great, but now it has been on hiatus for long time… maybe too long
