the International Woman’s Day weekend is gone, so this post might be a little less actual than I actually intended – but nevertheless, I think it’s worth seeing, because this is one of the funniest things Wargaming ever produced. Check this out, this is the World of Tanks video from Russian server (it was never translated to other languages):

It says:

“We made a survey and found out that there are many more woman players than there are men players”

First one: Olga, 34 years, proud of her son, has mastery badge on all vehicles
Mother: “Why did you go through the center?”
Son: “Well, everyone went through there”
Mother: “And if everyone starts shooting their teammates, you will do that too, yes?”
Mother: “I believe in you so much that I told everyone you are better with heavies and scouts”

Second one: Anna, 22 years, loves to cook borsch and to play it (SS: “Borsch”, apart from being traditional Russian soup, is also a Russian nickname for WT RhB)

Third one: Katya, 25 years, Julia, 26 let, friends, they play artillery in platoon
Katya: “I don’t know which one to take first, winter or summer”
Julia: “Listen, camouflage is not the most important thing, the most important is to level up camo skill and the light bulb” (SS: “light bulb” (lampochka) is Russian nickname for Sixth Sense”)

Hello everyone,

last night, an American streamer Sela was banned for using illegal mods online. It can be seen here (4h 26min mark). Apparently, it was because he was using following mods:

- white tank corpses (I think that’s actually legal)
- falling trees indicator (definitely illegal)
- enemy tank reload timers (apparently illegal)

While many people got butthurt over this decision, I actually support it (if it was the way the reddit post claims it to be). Guys – keep in mind:

ANY mod that gives you an unfair advantage in the game is illegal

Even without a taxative list of banned mods, this rule applies on all the servers of World of Tanks. Russians have a comprehensive list of banned mods, while (as far as I know) EU and US servers don’t, but either way, using common sense, anyone is able to figure out that especially stuff like fallen trees detectors is fishy.

Current banned mods on both EU and US servers:

- 3d hitskins
- laser pointers
- defoliants (leaf and tree removers)
- falling tree (and destroyed object) detector
- enemy reload timers (not sure here)

Yuri Pasholok posted something quite interesting not long ago – he demonstrated that the origins of the T-28 suspension actually started with… Krupp. Check this out. It is well known, that since Soviet Russia and Germany were allies before the war, German tanks were tested on a polygon near Kazan. These tests included the Grosstraktor prototoype vehicles (one of which was made by Krupp).

Russian engineers of course weren’t blind and in the internal Russian correspondence, the T-28 suspension is referred to as “Krupp suspension”. To compare, this is the T-28 suspension:

Storm recently asked about the sounds of guns shooting in World of Tanks. He stated that currently, Wargaming is working on new sounds, including the sounds of shooting the guns.

From the discussion:

- sounds of modern tanks are easier to get than the sounds of historical ones, that’s why everyone uses them
- developers did consider adding the whistling of shells sound effect

And what do you think about the sounds in game? How would you like it? No need to link Gnomefather’s mod, developers are of course aware of it. Other than that, what would you like the guns to sound like?

recently, Big Boss Kislyi was interviewed on some Russian podcast show and LJ user roppka_banuk was kind enough to provide a transcription of some of the more interesting stuff he said (I am not going to listen to Russian podcasts, sorry, I am not THAT dedicated I am afraid. Unless it’s something specifically relevant). Most of it is just empty PR though

- World of Warships will be revealed more this year to public (SS: he also mentions that some steps of the project require internal testing, which probably means WoWs will not come this year)
- V.Kislyi considers the 15vs15 format to be a revolutionary step, that paid off
- the WoT idea was a good idea, but without the Wargaming backing in 2008, it wouldn’t have succeeded
- WoT is written for “simple men”, living all over the world (SS: as in, not for hardcore students and schoolkids players)

What is however interesting is the photo, that came with the podcast…

Today I’m here to start a new series of articles about Swedish armor, that hopefully will give you some insight into Swedish armour development. I hope you enjoy it.

History

Sweden, due to its geographical location, has for a long time been able to stay out of European conflicts – in fact, it’s over 200 years by now (2014). But in the time of World War One, it became clear that Sweden could not rely on just its position, but it also would need a modern army. During this time, Sweden had close relations with Germany and in 1918, Swedish military attaché in Berlin was shown a knocked out British Mk IV tank. This would plant the seed of Swedish interest in tanks and as early as one year later, in 1919, attempts were made to purchase the British Whippet light tank. Due to the lack of money and enthusiasm from the army however, this led nowhere. Instead, negotiations were taken up with the Germans two years later, in 1921. Sweden was offered to secretly buy 10 German tanks, that had been produced, but never used because of the end of the war.
