A few rumors from Russia…

Hello everyone,

here are a few rumors from Russia, brought by player askold_kr. Some where debunked by Storm however. I will leave the judgement up to you.

- askold claims that the HD client will be kept separate from from the “regular” client. Storm actually adds that this might partially be the case: there will be one client, but the HD textures and HD models pack (since only a part of the playerbase is expected to use it) will be issued as a separate patch and not everyone will have to download it (SS: reasonable, as only a minority of the playerbase probably has a computer to actually run it)

- T95E6 will (as confirmed before) be a special tank for clanwars (clans)
- SU-76i and Ke-Ni Otsu will be regular premium tanks
- tier 10 TD nerf: alpha will be reduced from 850 to 750 and compensated by increased ROF (SS: this has been somewhat confirmed before), askold claims that the TD’s will also get aim time nerf, accuracy when moving nerf and maybe maneuverability nerf, maybe even an aim nerf, none of that was however confirmed
- a lot of maps will be reworked, the following maps will be Prussia, Minsk and Kharkov (SS: this was also confirmed before)

Askold however also claims that Malinovka will be reworked so that there will be some sort of hole (depression) in the middle of the field, Storm reacted ironically and said it’s garbage.

An interesting thing though: T23 will return to the game (sort of confirmed), possibly as an alternative hull.

    How big will be them system requiriments of the HD graphics then? Or should I ask how optimized it will be?

        • If the HD textures and new physics will be available with old render, I’m okay with it.

          I’m not in to special effects n’shit so….

          • Same… really don’t care for the graphics or physics as long as I’m able to play it on my laptop I’m fine with anything.

        Increasing textures doesnt slow stuff down in a major ay does it?

        I understand new physics but you can turn those off im sure.

        Also most games dont support 4 cores anyways most only use 2.

    • Try playing ”Spin Tires” and test your PC
      There you have destructable terain and all thouse mud splashes, physics, day cycle…
      while here you have more tanks around you (no ground calculations) but there will be buildings calculations now, which shouldnt be that stressful if your able to turn off the keeping of debris
      that should be somehow even in terms of cpu usage ang graphics and shit…

      • Its more along the line, and I’m guessing, that he wants an all city map like Himmelsdorf.

      • They could take my village as map. A few old houses, hills, lakes, rivers. Actually nothing really special about Brandenburg.

    • ok i cant understand wtf is WG thinking battle of Berlin and battle of Stalingrad are two of the most famous WWII battles…

      • They weren’t famous tank battles though, most of the fighting in both Stalingrad and Berlin was close quarters infantry fighting. Stalingrad was mostly rubble, it was difficult to get vehicles of any kind around quickly and effectively and by the time the Red Army entered Berlin the greatest threats to their tanks were infantry with AT weapons and concealed AT guns, mostly the former. So while important there are actually more relevant historical locations they can take for a tank battle game.

        The Normandy hedgerows and fields would be interesting and that area saw much more take to tank engagement (sometimes very close quarters, other times at extreme range). If anything I’d be more interested in seeing a city map based on some Norman towns, than Berlin or Stalingrad.

    If only the engine WoT is running on was at least halfway decent then at least half of the people could use the HD client.

    Good job WG, once again you just fuck things up completely. It’s arty all over again. All that is needed is a really big alpha nerf by about 50%-75%, compensate with RoF and be done with it. If they had actually bothered to do this with arty like everyone asked they would actually be balanced right now.

    10+ really big rocks or a city would be much better. Hill needs a lot more cover from arty too.

    Yes Yes Now I’m a Happy tanker (sucks to you TD).

    • First they came for the arty, and I didn’t speak out because I never play arty
      Then they came from TD, and I didn’t speak out because I never play TD
      Then they came for x, and I didn’t speak out because I never play x
      Finally they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me

        • If everyone has an opinion strong enough for them to quit, they value it. If they start nerfing like this, they wont stop. People will just complain that you can’t kill heavies. They will nerf heavy hp, then mediums will just roll over the game. They will nerf medium speed, causing LT to be able to roll over everyone. It’s a freaking circle.

          • And somebody now just realizes it…

            I am not too worried about the “Nerf this” then “Must Nerf this as well” circle of maddness. It does make the game more interesting and throws “power creep” into a big fat chaotic mess. Sadly most people don’t see the “Big Picture” most of the time and only see their “Baby” getting an engine “de-tune” and a reduction on the “case charge” for their shells.

            But isn’t that always the case?

      • TD`s and arty ruined Heavy gameplay.

        TD`s outclass heavies at every role except sidscrapping or peekaboom. Literally everything else is dominated by them.

        Hell look what they are nerfing. Aim Time, Speed, Accuracy, Alpha…Lol normally WG does little nerfs, now they realize they need a lot.

        • Pretty sure there is an XP reward for potential damage received. I’ve sat in AT2s and similar, neither spotting nor doing much damage (yes, I know, a bad game :-)), but doing a lot of bouncing or taking HE damage and getting good XP.

    I feel your pain Tier X TD. But you dont get completley nerfhammered to shit like arty did.

    • Arties are still OP as shit. My Obj. 261 and M53/55 are pretty badass arties. The only problem is WR, but it is just all about teams.

        SPGs can be OP as hell all they want but they are still dependent on the rest of the team to put a “W” on the scoreboard 90-95% of the time.

      • Vehicles are only OP if they can single-handedly boost WR. Being able to do a lot of damage but not carry a game is not OP, and is quite possible with UP vehicles.

        While playing SPG can be enjoyable, the poor win rates (and the recently posted player WR vs vehicle WR graphs) speak for themselves. Quite unfortunate that a whole class of vehicles is so ineffectual. They should fix or remove, but I won’t hold my breath for either.

    • I’d like to see them rebalanced to the point where they aren’t shitting on everything else on T10, as it stands they’re really too good (at least some, a few are pretty much okay) but in generally they are a wee bit too overwhelming.

      I’ve never had so much a problem with most of them because of the alpha but it was the insane penetration, accuracy and aim time they have. Most of the lower tier (T9) TDs with large caliber guns have very awkward handling to compensate for the massive alpha they can deal, this balances them because they can still hit and penetrate, doing their damage against targets but actually need to aim. I find a lot of the T10 TDs can just snap onto targets and nuke them a little too easily considering how some have good (some honestly better than T10 heavy) armor and very large HP pools.

      At the lower tiers the TDs have lower health than equivalent tier mediums with okay armor but focus on firepower and stealth. Stuff like the T110e3 and the Foch 155 have massive alpha, good gun handling, good armor, good mobility and good camo with health pools on par with heavy tanks on their own tier. It’s a little broken overall.

          • All the arty winers are basing themselves on a very easy game mechanic/principal. If the sucker can hit you an score 50%+ and you can’t fire back – it’s op, even if you were staying still in a fv215/t95 in the open out in malinovka.
            If the same shit happens and you actually see the guy who shot you – it’s ok.
            Duno why, arty was never OP if you had at least a little common sense, the only problem was 18 arts per 30 people, which is based on the easygoing gameplay of an arty, when compared to anything decent.
            Really, if arty was so OP, then why did the statpadding unicums always prefer meds or TDs to increase the damage per game?

            • It’s gun is OP, the way how it works is OP. How they balance this? They make the rest of the “tank” total piece of crap. It’s like trying to loose weight by cutting off your limbs.

              Artillery is bluntly imbalanced. That’s why.

    • FV215b 183 nerf ? Wasn’t the HE shell nerf enough? Here’s the pros and cons of it , and try to spot any “OP” characteristics -

      FV215b 183 –

      Pros :
      High Alpha ( Only with High Explosive [ HESH ] shells )
      Average Mobility

      Cons :
      Carries least ammo in game ( 12 shells )
      Less than effective armor ( If you bounce on a 183 at point blank, just drown yourself )
      Longest aiming time ( 3.4 s )
      Artillery class ROF ( 2 rpm ) [ Means you have a full 24 seconds to shoot back at an elite 183 after it fires ]
      Poor Accuracy ( 0.4 )
      Cant traverse it’s gun completely ( Only 45 degrees I think )
      Has to use HESH shells worth 8000 credits each shot ( and if it doesn’t pen, GG)

      Summary – If you’re dumb enough to step into it’s gun when it’s loaded, then you deserve to die. But if you manage to angle your armor even slightly or have spaced armor pointed at it, hands down, it’s not going to pen you whatsoever . Other than the alpha on it’s gun, everything else is just horrible on the tank.

    • The fate of this tank was up to SerB, IIRC. It seems he is continuing to trololol all the way to the bank (of Cyprus). :-)

    well, as long as this ancient engine of the game runs with a single core, it will be always the minority who can run the game on max settings.

    i think no one uses dual cores anymore. Hell, my 6 old PC has quad cores.
    its shame to see such game running on a single core and performance issues.
    WG need to understand that full mulitcore support and performance optimization are the priority.

    • You just don’t know how old PCs get in russia, mate. My friend plays WoT on a single-core 10-yo PC with the “latest” upg being a 6-yo 9800 GT (or GTX). Funny thing tho, he doesn’t lag much, pretty optimized, just not on max settings.

  9. Clan Wars does not need the T95E6, some of us U.S. Tech Tree players have been pushing for that to be part of the regular tech tree for ages! Give them a new U.S. Heavy, but not that magnificent medium that is probably 10X better than the M48, the U.S. Tree needs a better medium!

      • well… the HEAT ammunition for meds is kinda silly, when you include mediums should flank their targets…

        Not shooting an E-100 through the front turret from 600m afar :/

  10. Every nerf they do makes this game suck more. The tanks get more and more vanilla and I really dont care if I research every tank any more. Arty is FUBAR, TDs are coming and one of the bestr/ funnest passive scouts is gone. Gee the whining will continue until WG renames the game WOrld of Coll of Duty/ Battlefield Vanilla

  12. The talk about TDs seems to me as a common “talking knowing nothing”. Perhaps they will nerf something but TD’s do not cause the playability problems like the old arties did.
