19.4.2014 – Part 1

Hello everyone, this is actually translation with 18.4.2014 original designation, but I came home late, so yea.

If you are interested, you can leave your 9.0 feedback to Overlord in this post.

- completely historical maps for HB will not come, it would be completely pointless according to SerB
- SerB: “There were no Tigers in Ardennes”
- every camo is not usable on every map, because “tanks in winter camo on grass will look absolutely idiotic”
- “saving” the target channell in the chat (SS: as in, the game switches to “platoon chat” and keeps that way) has been specifically disabled in order for players not to “accidentally” post something intended for their team to the enemy right after they called an enemy a noob
- the 15 players per team number was a result of many experiments
- Storm does not think that the number 15 makes it too hard to maneuver, because everywhere you turn there is an enemy
- developers are watching the statistics of historical battles, whether there are too many campfests, but first results will be available in like 2 weeks
- apparently, the CW minicampaign (SS: or however it’s called) will not be the only way to actually get the T23 premium tank (US forums)
- Evilly confirms that this event (the “World of Fire”) is not a “real” campaign
- Evilly confirms that this event is the first way of getting the T23, after the campaign, at some point, it will be sold as a “limited offer” as well
- T23 will also be sold not as a part of some big gold packet, but separately
- CW tier 10′s will not be sold for money
- Evilly thinks that the Confrontation mode will be fixed and will return

  1. “saving” the target channell in the chat (SS: as in, the game switches to “platoon chat” and keeps that way) has been specifically disabled in order for players not to “accidentally” post something intended for their team to the enemy right after they called an enemy a noob

How about just saving a channel if it’s been switched to platoon. Or hell, make platoon the default for platoons. How hard is this to come up with.

    • I don’t the idea behind it :o
In WoWP it does just that… saving the target channel (which is much more comfortable than always “tabbing” through the right channels)
Why they dropped it JUST for WoT is beyond me :/

    • Yesterday I found out a really handy feature through my own clumsiness and a habbit of pressing the space between keys rather than keys themselves:

If you press Shift + Enter it will automatically put you in platoon chat, no need for tabbing twice

      • Enter >> ally chat
Right Shift + Enter >> platoon chat
Right Ctrl + Enter >> all chat

Thats all you will ever need which means there is no point for saving target bullshit.

    • - SerB: “There were no Tigers in Ardennes”

There was one, I don’t believe it saw combat.

  2. “There were No tigers in the Ardennes”

There was only one Tiger 1 tank battalion that saw action in the Battle of the Bulge. These were the Tiger 1s from Schwere Panzer Abteilung (Funklenk) 301. This battalion was originally created to operate remote controlled B-IV demolition tanks (a 3.5 ton low profile tracked bomb that carried a 450 kg explosive warhead) However this unit functioned as a normal Tiger tank battalion in the Ardennes. On December 16th, 1944 this unit had 27 Tiger 1s with 14 being operational while the others were being repaired or were in transit. They began the battle attached to the 319th Panzer Kompany in the 6th Panzer Army but were transfered into the 9th SS Panzer Division on December 20th, 1944 and remain there for the remainder of the campaign. At least one Tiger 1 from this battalion was knocked out near Oberwampach during the withdrawal stage of the battle.

So technically, yes. But they were virtually nonexistent

    • Deutch wiki says thats the “Battle of the Bulge was attended by 35 Tiger I, who suffered no total losses in battle”.

    • Sounds suspiciously like the commanders left the big boxes in the reserve so as not to have to worry about narrow roads getting blocked by immobilised examples thereof…

  3. - SerB: “There were no Tigers in Ardennes” Sigh… making false claims is not gonna change history, take it from someone who lives here.

  4. you guys need to check your fact in the battle of the bulge “Ardennes forest” the 6th panzer division had 215 panther tanks, 100 tiger 1 and 160 panzer 4′s on date december 16th 1944.

    • 6th Panzer division? That’s an awful lot of tanks for a Panzer Division circa late 1944. Especially for one fighting on the Eastern Front. Unless you meant the 6th SS-Panzer Army?

        • this part a last ditch effort to push on to Antwerp and yes i ment the 6th panzer army the germans had 1600 tanks in this offensive which included the 5th,6th SS and 7th panzers armys. and according to the military history channel the 6th panzer army had 100 tigers

    • They should make such special events for normal people, I mean without clan. With special rewards like T23 for example.

  5. SerB: “There were no Tigers in Ardennes”

trying to re-write history are we serb?

  6. - “saving” the target channell in the
chat (SS: as in, the game switches to
“platoon chat” and keeps that way)

How about keeping to platoon chat who have distractio…I mean, chat disabled?
Nope, forgot that or too lazy :D

  7. - every camo is not usable on every map, because “tanks in winter camo on grass will look absolutely idiotic”

Tiger II tanks of Kampfgruppe Peiper had three-tone ambush camouflages during the Ardennes Offensive. “Absolutely idiotic” indeed, but historical nonetheless.

    • They could make some kind of a storage for camos. You can buy all of them and use one you like on specified map.

  8. “not to “accidentally” post something intended for their team to the enemy right after they called an enemy a noob”
Well n00b is reserved for allies, not enemies, for them it’s just “gold n00b” when they fire gold ammo

  9. They should make it so that in future campaigns, winner players get to choose which tier 10 CW award tank they want :P.
And to those that won it in the first possible campaign, they should get a special denomination like
    M60 1st Campaign

  10. “tanks in winter camo on grass will look absolutely idiotic”

Like japanese blue camo in desert ?

    • Blue camo in desert works actually pretty well. You know, in the desert you are on eye level, so the backdrop to something above ground would be mostly horizon, aka blue sky. With the haze of the heat from the ground it makes hat type of camo very effective.
Just like the pink camo from the Brits, they blended perfectly into the hazy mix of yellow and blue.

      • I somehow believe that camo on tanks is mostly used to prevent them from being spotted from aircrafts. You know from air it is already difficult enough to spot tank without camo, unlike from land.

        • Not really. Camo is generally not ment to hide a tank. It is ment to break up the silhouette of the tank, so you don’t know where the tank starts and where it stops, so you can’t figure out what kind of tank it is, which way it’s facing, and so on.

          • This. Camo nets were meant to try to totally conceal tanks (not that they succeeded), but the tank had to stand still.

          • Though note that breaking up the silhouette is a major part of concealing the target from observation in general, optimally to the point where the enemy cannot pick it out from the environment. Failing that hampering his ability to locate and identify it at a distance is good enough.
Bonus points if the camo makes it difficult for the enemy to judge distances, vectors and whatnot properly and hence hamper his ability to properly track and target a moving object, which is the logic behind the eye-watering naval “dazzle” camouflage schemes (and IIRC zebras’ stripes), but dunno if that really works for land vehicles.

  11. best performance comes for PC after uninstallation of WoT, it really helped, but i forgot to install again.

  12. - SerB: “There were no Tigers in Ardennes”
Neither did M4 Shermans use the 105mm derp, but who are we to argue with serb almighty..,,

  13. - every camo is not usable on every map, because “tanks in winter camo on grass will look absolutely idiotic”

On this subject, am I the only one who thinks that tanks should have a desert camo instead of summer one on the Steppes?

    - Evilly thinks that the Confrontation mode will be fixed and will return

Hell Yeah!!! Best news of the day.

    • Well if you are using low settings Steppes indeed look like a desertish map, but in reality, with settings(flora) on there is tons of grass and colorful flowers on that map, so not really. Summer camo it logical.

Damn… I loved it when that happened.

    Not to me of course.

Is it so hard just saying that Tigers are OP in that and that battle, therefore we will remove it instead of trying to brainwash rest of the world with your 100% correct sovjet history like you did with your comrades already.

      • From what you can read in various sources some of them indeed fought there, while some of them were being repaired. But most important is that they were there, whether they saw combat or not, while SerB(WG) specifically are trying to convince there weren’t Tigers at all.

  16. ”Storm does not think that the number 15 makes it too hard to maneuver, because everywhere you turn there is an enemy”

this proves once again that the game is made for them, not for us.
