Hello everyone,
I was wondering whether to include this post or not… but what the hell. Raptr is some sort of gaming community I never heard about before, but several players wrote me a mail, that it is organizing a large QA session with “developers”. That kinda raised my suspicions and surely enough, they were confirmed. Developers? Nope, more like community people. Basically, players ask questions in comments (in the abovelinked thread) and following people answer:
Joshua Morris (some “producer” I never heard of before)
Chris Jung (“specialist”, god knows what that means)
Jamie King (some random guy I never heard before either, aka “PR” specialist)
joined with couple other “my-mum-says-I’m-specialists”
As I said, I have no idea who these people are, my best guess it’s some staff from the American branch of Wargaming. Anyway, went through the answers, here’s what was in there. The answers bring rarely anything new of course, but… well, yea, check for yourself
- regarding the 9.0 fucked up patch: “We just released our first micro patch that solves some of the issues but we still know of several issues causing players problems. We are testing more solutions and will release another patch as soon as it is ready. 9.0 was a major change to many systems. In order to support the major changes coming this year we had to overhaul many systems. This has obviously caused some problems for some users and we are working as quickly as possible to solve these issues.”
- true multicore support, later this year
- bigger maps? “It has been a long time desire to increase the maps sizes and support larger battles. Technically, doubling the maps sizes and increasing teams would quadruple the server processing requirements. We will continue to pursue this goal, however it is not slated for the 2014 timeframe.”
- modern tanks? “Our titles focus on vehicles of 1930–1950 with no plans to introduce modern warfare.” (SS: oh, wasn’t STB-1 from late 60′s? Leopard? Ooooops)
- no plans to have ships, warplanes and tanks on one battlefield in one game
- no plans to bring WoT to Steam due to this being “cost-prohibitive”
….and that’s all (out of cca 1300 questions, mind you – stronk answerink!) Personally, I think that the Raptr interface is the worst and clunkiest interface I have seen lately. If there were more “answers” anywhere, I missed them. Apparently, the session was prolonged until Monday or something, so I will revisit that page and check if there is anything new.

I really don’t think that’s what they aspire to be :)
Raptr intention is to create one single community which includes different portals and services like Steam, Origin, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Uplay, BattleNet and others, and to offer easier access for the players to move faster from one service to another( e.g. to move from a game from Steam to Origin without accessing 2 portals, but only 1)
Raptr is more of a “Brag about my in-game hours” community, from what I grasped.
I used Raptr some time ago. Basically you link your Steam/Xbox/Playstation account to track your progress like hours or achievements. You could win rewards like “Play Pink Stalin Warriors 6: Goat of the year for 10 hours to win exclusive pr0 h4x weapon for it”. Nowadays i dont think they give away as much stuff as they used to. Plus lots of giveaways are limited to “the better countries” like USA or GB even though they work in every one (you can use proxy but they ban for this).
Raptr is pretty much dead now i think. Everyone only joined it to get free stuff. No free stuff = no members.

Just logged in and now you can either get useless crap like 20% discount coupons or things like Radeon 270 for some kind of points. Of course the latter requires amazing amount of them. You get points completing pathetic “quests” like connect to facebook, confirm e-mail address or complete survey. Its not worth attention IMO.
I know Raptr has some fucking software called Gaming Evolve which is some sort of auto-detect settings for games…useless, anyway, which is spammed and installed every time you want to install AMD drivers…

This Chris Jung is a Product Specialist & Community manager @ NA. Unknown forum nick.
Jamie King turns out to be a She. She is the PR manager at Wargaming NA. NA nick is Jamiebot according to the twitter channel that seems to be all the rage for NA players.
So its an NA event that I guess can’t handle anything EU, SEA or RU related questions.
Gaming evolve… i want uninstall this… i need find how send it to the hell of useless software.
It took me a while to manage to uninstall it, I kept looking after AMD software since I didn’t notice Raptr and I didn’t know what it was. Just go to Control Panel and look for Raptr and uninstall.

Yes, SS, focus. “Focus” =/= “entirely limited to”
It’s still NA who failed, practically it’s no smoothbores, or as Storm/SerB has said around up to 1969.
I think the most modern tank is the Type 64 from 1975. That tank illustrates perfectly why people shouldn’t hang themselves up over cut-off “dates” and focus more on what the devs have said are no-nos (Amphibious, smoothbores, composite armour)
I use AMD Gaming Evolved powered by Raptr, you can get free stuff form it so why not.

i understand you are working for WG, but you wrote many a time you will try to “touch” the horrible WT game, but nop…
basically i’m sick of WoT and their fails, looks they are not going to make anything better for WoT (from bad to worst), plus i want to hear moar about other games,
i hope you will write about more games as i like your writing style, cheers.
SS doesn’t work for WG but this particular blog is dedicated to WoT.

but in WWII tanks were battling only tanks, all was divided into three separate wars. this is the true realism that WG is aiming for!

When will Chinese/Japanese/French get new tanks?
When will the MM be reworked/tweaked? (probably the main question of them all)
Will the “Grindfest” ever be lowered, even if by a little? (so that Clan wars could be accessible to people who don’t devote entire days for the game, cause from what i understood you either have a Tier IX/X tank or no clan wars for you.)
Will World Of tanks ever include AI infantry ?
Will The tanks that have 2 guns ever be able to use them ? (like the churchill I, M3 Lee)

1) New tanks are not a priority right now as we are focusing on reworking many of our existing models into HD but there will still be some new tanks released this year.

Will you guys give us the ability to create custom user content? Also, when are we going to have some humans driving (graphic) our tanks, maybe leave the vehicle when destroyed.

We do have a large community of players who do create custom skins and UI mods for our game. You can find many of them on our forums here: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/forum/366-fan-creations/
There are not crews in the tanks since that would increase the rating due to violence and the accessibility of the game to younger player.

To be honest – i think that these guys are just imposters who are trying to confuse people. It would be a good thing to ask Storm about this “q&a” session. Because for me it looks very unprofessional.
