Sticky Turrets – Working as Intended

Hello everyone,

thanks to Matěj V. for this video (guys, leave your nicknames, when you write me on FB) – during the war, the British invented the infamous Sticky bomb, but that is nothing, compared to Wargaming’s destructive invention, the Sticky turret!

Seriously though, I am not sure this was intended, it looks like a bug to me.

  1. Ewww… still looking nasty. How the hell turret slided in to another turret. LOL. Same like a ghost. ROFL

  2. Work as intended;)

Btw in reality, if this shi_ really happen, the impact force of a falling turret may able to cripple a tank IMO

  3. AFAIK turrets does not have collision models while on the tank (only after ripped of by ammorack explosion become the turret “solid”)

    • yes, reality looks pathetic… /facepalm

its not a bug.. and the turret will fall down if he goes forward downhill instead of backwards, but needs to be quite steep, and the tank would need to stop quite hard after going fast.. the turret weights a lot.

now, the continuous damage? yea, that aint right, they should make it a flat damage, no more.. (except maybe heavy turrets on light tanks)

  4. It looks like the mechanism where a tank on top of another tank does damage to both although none are moving. On the vid it seems like the turret fell on a flat surface + gut sligtely stuck between it and the WT turret. It moves slightly but not enough to fall off and the WT does not sviwel his turret so the IS-3 turret stays there.

    • Exactly, it is working as intended. That would happen IRL too probably, if the turret fell flat onto another tank’s deck, it wouldn’t just fall off.
and it was said that falling turrets act like actual object and can damage a tank.

  5. Hmmm, seems like a collision model fault, plus there should be implemented a cap on how heavy should the object be to actually damage the tank below, so this can be avoided.

  6. Just Hilarious.
As long as it doesn’t happen to me. :)
IS-3 is evil. Should be banned for unsportmanship.

  7. I haven’t been able to test this in the real world, but im pretty sure that the weight of a turret would “stick” it to a flat surface anyway, would require a lot of engine power and acceleration to dislodge it (which the WT doesn’t have).

  8. Driving backwards down a slight slope with the turret not beeing able to drop off cause of said slop and the turret of the tank beeing in the way.. with the limited collision model that looks alright to me; sure, bad luck for the Waffelträger, but fine otherwise as long as turrets are meant to interact with tanks.

  9. That silly IS-3 turret simply lying on top of that massive E-100 hull should not suddenly cause it to blow up, imho… I agree with “Nya-chan” above, saying that an object of insufficient weight should not do any damage to a tank below it.

    • Well, a superheated (after an explosion) turret blocking engine vents would certainly do something. It wouldn’t exactly be a critical existential failure, but still.

On the other hand I’d rather either see the turrets not draining health while on top of the tank (the system was implemented to stop people stacking tanks on top of each other after all) or having a small outward force applied to slide it off the tank on its own. Having them not do any damage just on weight alone doesn’t really work since dropping even a small couple ton weight on the thin roof armor of a tank is going to dent something.

  10. Mhh a multiple ton turret landing with a big surface ontop of a flat tank not just slipping of it? Well seems like some ppl slept at physic class (And no, its not WG).

  11. Must be the IS-3 turret that’s screwed up. Because I’ve seen turrets land on other tanks several times now. And they all fall off as soon as the other tank starts to move. Even slow tanks. But the IS-3 turret seems to be “solid” when it lands on some one. There was a video posted on the EU forum a few days ago of an IS-3 turret landing on a T95 and taking away all its HP. I’ve seen IS-3 turrets land at the back of a T29 and he could not get it off. I’ve seen a leo PT A turret land on a T28 and he drove it off.

The IS-3 turret just seems to… stick to it more then others to.

  12. it works as intended. we once pushed up a ALIVE FT AC my E100, it was in my turret, and after it was dead, i used the wreck as cover for my rear turret :D

thats part of the game engine, he should just have stopped after racing backwards so the turret would slide throu his turret to the ground^^

  13. it is not a bug as WG said the turrets can damage other tanks. And that one fell on the VK and didn’t fall off his hull while burning. Works as intended but funny though

  14. Notice that this is on lowest graphic setting, and he is still not getting decent FPS?
    Coincidence? i think NOT !

  15. hahaha Im happy that gery died/cry from a USSR parasite turret on him :D
    Jajajajajaja great show! :P

  16. The only thing I can say… GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!!

Just like the 8 bit video. Ppl playing sports with tank turrets!

  17. I fully support IS-3 turrets landing on top of WTE-100 and killing them slowly.
Infact this should be standard in all battles at start.

  18. Somehow in all cases people mentioned here it was always IS-3′s turret. Stronk sovjet tonk. Bestest tonk in teh wurld.

  19. It so unrealistic when the turret stick to players. Wargaming should fix that.
