Unfortunately, with Storm on vacation (a week and a half more IIRC), very little is new. The ASIA “developer Q&A” with Tanitha looks promising, but he sort of backed off (understandeably) and needs to clear what he can tell players officially and what he can’t. Should be interesting still.

Oddly enough, the EU portal did not inform (unlike the RU one) that the WoT Blitz was officially released, so… World of Tanks Blitz was officially released and you can get it officially here. Android version will come in the upcoming months. You can discuss the news on Overlord’s blog!

- apparently, the issue with players not seeing friends in the garage as online even though they are persists after the micropatch
- same goes, according to player feedback, for the “moving corpses” bug, it seems the issue was NOT fixed
- Blitz is separate from WoT, including statistics and servers, but you can log in using the same account as in WoT
- there will not be unified premium between WoT and WoTBlitz

  1. So, basically, the micropatch who was supposed to fix some things didn’t fix anything…gj WG. Keep going like that and you’ll have the Fail of the Year award for sure.

        • this is not about fixing, this is about implementing another first inconsiderable then later more obvious and annoying bug.

        • Probably not an easy bug to squash, and they need to find another cause of it.
Some smaller bugs are difficult to pinpoint because they are dug deep.
It’s like when your computer doesn’t start, you go and check every piece of your equipment to find where the problem lies.

Annoying, a hazzle, and pisses people off when it takes too long.

          • it’s like in that Tom Jones song:

            *singing*
            fighting bugs with bugs,
            burning down the house…
            /*singing*

          • My thoughts exactly, its likely caused be several smaller bugs, so they fixed the one they thought was the only cause, to discover that there was another they couldn’t replicate in testing the other bug.

    • Well, as someone who does software QA for living, I can tell you that some sort of bugs (usually very weird ones) are the hardest to solve, because the developers can’t understand what exactly causes them.
And often they find themselves finding a problem, fixing it, but then realizing that this problem was not the cause for the bug…

      • “…but then realizing that this problem was not the cause for the bug”
Do those cases ever end up creating a new bug? Messing with what was thought to be but wasn’t actually the problem?

        • Yes, that happens too, but usually, the devs find those extreme cases that never happen, think them to be the bug case, andvrealy fix them.
In not gaming software, the developers usually do not have adeep understanding of the workflow of the software – they know what it does (because they have developed it), but they never used it itself as it was intended to use.
I don’t believe this is the case in gaming. WG stated many times that developera are pretty experirnced players themselves. If it is true, and they have seen the bug for themselves during gameplay, it must be someyhing very hard to fix/find the reason for.

    • Funny thing – after micropatch I didn’t see moving corpses, so for me it is “working as intended”. But map loading times got longer, as it was in 8.11 or 9.0. Most of the people however tell me they see zombie tanks even now.

    • 99 bugs on the wall, 99 bugs
Take one down, pass it around
      127 bugs on the wall

In other words, the attempts to fix a given bug can sometimes break something else in a different place.

  2. “same goes, according to player feedback, for the “moving corpses” bug, it seems the issue was NOT fixed”

are you fucking kidding me? :D

  3. - apparently, the issue with players not seeing friends in the garage as online…
    - same goes, according to player feedback, for the “moving corpses” bug, it seems the issue was NOT fixed

    Fuck they did then?

    • They fixed it, just not in all cases. I know rarely see moving corpses, but before hotfix it was like every 4th of 5th game I played.

      • same here saw it regularly before and serious movement-30 to 100 meters at speeds greater than the tank had while alive, now they only crawl a few feet, occasionally.

  4. OK, Storm I get it, he’s on vacation – but I couldn’t help to notice a very large lack of SerB in the last month.

What happened, he moved to another Dept?

  5. I don’t think they move as much, before the patch they could easily travel a tanks length now its slightly less. Or maybe just observation bias.

    • could it be other mod except Omegaice?i dont have it installed but i do have a vehicle.pyc in my res_mods.

I will try to replace vehicle.pyc from res_mods with the updated one and see if mods are still working and the bug is fixed but i dont have time to play right now.

  6. So, if the micropatch did not solve the problems that it supposed to do, what have we downloaded?

  7. the patch did fix the problems:
    - corpses no longer move. Side effect: corpses now travel
    - friends can now be seen online. Downside is that it is shown in same font as when offline.

  8. At least for my client, the issues haven’t reappeared. So at least on my system, they seem to have gone.

    Hoping they don’t appear randomly.

  9. Iirc i saw a corpse moving yesterday(after the micropatch) and i haven’t seen any before the fix.

    Also, where’s SerB?

  10. Sadly blitz won’t provide bonuses in Wot, that and complex gameplaymechanics unfit for the platform will be why it won’t gain much traction – sadly. There are a lot of good things in there.

  11. - Blitz is separate from WoT, including statistics and servers, but you can log in using the same account as in WoT
    - there will not be unified premium between WoT and WoTBlitz

    Worthless.

    • I have to say that I too am a bit annoyed that there won’t be unified accountants between WoT en WoTBlitz. It’s not “well not currently, but somewhere in the long term we expect to unify them”, no, it’s a clear “no”.

Do they expect us to pay for two premium accounts, etc? Clearly they do, but I know I won’t be doing that. For me it leads to having to chose between the two in the end (which I most certainly will do, because I don’t like to play a game “half”).

Unlike most people who also for themselves come to the conclusion they will have to pick between the two, I will probably pick WoTBlitz because my pc is in decline and I’m (finally) getting totally fed up playing WoT at an FPS rate averaging between 10-15 FPS.

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy TabPro 10.1 (T520) tab which I will use while commuting, so when WoTBlitz has been made suitable for Android I will probably make the jump.

Also wondering why they decided to not make the game suitable for bluetooth keyboards+mouse which you can hang onto your tablet. It would make the controls more like in WoT itself (which probably is why they don’t want to do that, might give players who have that equipment a bit of an advantage).

  12. I can confirm the corpses move, just not very much. Before the last patch they would “rotate” or slide a tiny amount, and it seems that’s what they are back to now, though the problem is definitely less. I’ve seen this issue ever since I’ve been playing the game, I think it’s a bug deep in the physics engine that is not trivial to fix completely. Perhaps there is no way to “lock” dead tanks, indeed there can’t be, since they must be pushable by live tanks for realism.

  13. anybody played blitz? is it better than armored aces? i tried aa rec ently and so far am not impressed. tank seems very hard to control, but perhaps it’s just new to me, maps are meh. also suprised they haven’t been sued by wg, it’s pretty similar.
