Pictures from Bastogne Garage

Hello everyone,

player Crazytony0 was recently in the Bastogne armor museum – we already had pictures of that on FTR I think. What is however very interesting is that he got into the “garage”, a place where tanks are being repaired and restored and is not normally accessible for public. Enjoy!

The vehicles currently in (hopefuly) running condition there are the Cromwell, the M16, Stuart, both Shermans, the Patton, the IS3 (altough not in great shape), and the green Renault UE.

For me, the most interesting part is the disassembled StuG…

  1. Awesome pics! Is the a wish list of stuff you want SS, a particular museum or vehicle?

      • Maybe a US 203mm howitzer on trailer? Or the interior of a running Panzer 68?

I know a bunker-museum near my town where they have damn rare stuff, a P-47 wreck with the 50.cal guns still visible with ammo, a Me-262 wreck, 8,8cm Flak, 7,5cm Pak, Czech 57mm AT-gun, MiG-21, Mirage III, AMX13 75, MT-LB, M3 Greyhound Quad. 50.cal! :D I think that there’s a Chieftain aswell, but dunno where this tiny museum got it from. And almost everything in running condition!

    • well, decided to tell only those wich i saw driving last year, as otherwise nearly every tank can be described driveable. That pacific tractor for instance wich is now in the garage, last year it didnt had one good tyre, so it wasnt realy driveable either.
      Nice video btw

    • I am pretty sure getting an is-3 was a simple matter of buying it from a poor country after the break with the USSR?

      • Well, that could work too, but IS-3 wasn’t exported widely – according to Wiki the list of non-USSR IS-3 operators/owners isn’t really long :)

Egyptian Army: Operated IS-3M from 1956-1967, some in use in 1973.
IDF: IS-3M, captured from Egypt in 1967.
Polish Land Forces: Two IS-3s were bought in 1946 for trials only.
Romanian Land Forces: Approximately 5 IS-3s.
South Ossetian Army: Operated some IS-2s, IS-3s and T-10s until 1995.

But yeah, sometimes things find their own way to happen as they like :)

    • from what i have heared, it came as a kind of gift from russia. It was stored for decades in a russian/USSR reserve depot. It arrived in the port of antwerp by boat some 15 years ago, aparantly it was in great shape back then.

  2. Must… not… fap. That sweet, sweet SdKfz 6/2…

I’m sad you didn’t want Parola pics :/
