Americans in Wartime Museum Photos

Hello everyone,

recently, there was a meeting between Wargaming and US server players in the Americans in Wartime Museum in Nokesville, Virginia. US player SpartanGuard was kind enough to provide us with some pretty nice photos of the vehicles present there. A special thing is – apparently, ALL the vehicles on the photos are in running condition. Well, except the dismantled ones under renovation I guess. Still, pretty impressive.

    • There were 2 for auction just a few months ago. IIRC the nicer of the 2 went for around 50k USD. I was seriously considering putting in a bid.

    • That first one might be a first generation NBC vehicle or arty obv. tank.

The second looks like an amphib with that hull plate welded to the front of it?

Great pics, DDR T72 looks awesome.

  1. The 1st “I don’t know” is a M114
    The 3rd is a FV721 FOX
The 4th it some sort of FV432

For the second, well your guess is as good as mine, I think it’s an up-armoured LVTP-7.

    • 1) M114 armored fighting vehicle, a Vietman-era APC
      2) Looks like Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle with a slightly different turret
      3) FV721 Fox armoured reconnaissance vehicle
      4) FV 432 APC

  2. I have fond out that playing the Wargame series, really helps with learning different tanks, tracked vehicles and such.

The 2nd one looks like some kind of prototype for the LVTP-7. It has the same turret as one.

    • “I have fond out that playing the Wargame series, really helps with learning different tanks, tracked vehicles and such.”

Thats right, and strangely, since i play WoT, i heard Ferdinand Porsche’s name much frequently than before.

  3. If that’s how the British M3 Grant will look. I might give it a chance. Much less ugly than the current Lee (better turret). Will probably still suck, but I want dat Firefly when it comes out.

  5. I was there!! My friend took a whole bunch of pictures and put them on facebook. I might try to get you some of them. There were several other vehicles not pictured here including an M36 Jackson right by the parking lot, a Hellcat, a Chaffee, a whole bunch of M4s, a Churchill that was being worked on (not really on display but perfectly visible in a nearby garage), a Super Sherman in the same garage, an M8 Greyhound (armored car), an M7 Priest, an M5 Stuart, an M3 Stuart, more AA vehicles I didn’t recognize, only a turret of an M10 Wolverine, and countless other armored cars and random tracked vehicles (some of which were tiny).

Also, where that possible LVT is, to the right you see some yellow caution tape. Past that there was an M3 Lee wayy in the back but you couldn’t get up close to it for some reason. The guy on the T-34-85 was pretty funny. Faked a Russian accent but eventually revealed he was from Pennsylvania :P

  6. This is the same event I sent pictures in from last year. Do you want the pictures of the Jackson that was at the front? The Jackson went a long way from being the rusted hulk it was some years ago. Now it had a fresh coat of paint and some of its equipment on it.

Also I kinda snapped a quick picture of what I think they were working on. They had a Wolverine hull in one of their workshops, and the turret was still outside, next to a bunch of army trucks.

Sadly I think a Church crocodile and a super Sherman were still gutted and awaiting their turn. The M3 Lee was in the back where they assemble vehicles for reenactments with the reenactors.

  7. The AFV 432 Mk 2 – is fitted with a Peak Engineering L37 turret for the GPMG. Issued on a scale of 2 per infantry platoon, the other two having pintle mounted GPMG that could only be fired from the vehicle by the commander standing in his open hatch.

  8. Pictures of the Hellcat, M4A3,M4 Sherman, Chaffee, M10 Wolverine, M3 Stuart, M5 Stuart, and a really cool Lego display are missing.

      • I have em, I sent em to Silent. The Wolverine IS there. Just inside their closed garage. The turret is in the back next to all the army trucks (behind the Hard Knocks Cafe food van). I managed to quickly snap a picture of it (Woverine) before a staff member closed the door.

        It’s very blurry though.

  9. The M113 identified as a fire support version is designated as a M113 ACAV, which is an M113 with an ACAV kit fitted. The ACAV (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle) kit is basically gun shields added to the cupola and to the sides for the M2 .50 caliber and the M60 .30 caliber machineguns.

    • Also, the kits were available to the cavalry units in the 1980′s as well, not just during Vietnam.

  10. Abbot is not in game and instead we get Sexton 1 for British premium arty. Totally Legit… goddamned WG guys too lazy to use Wikipedia to look up British fighting vehicles (details may not be accurate, like Chieftain armour, but the names of the IMPORTANT ones are all there)
