- the fact that RU251 HEAT shells are flying much faster than AP shells is correct (historical)
- apparently, STA-2 will not have limited MM either (just like Panther 88)
- historical and garage battles and new chat are still being developed
- Storm says he can’t talk about the Havok development, but he mentioned that one of the issues is that with a lot of destruction on the screen, it consumes too much memory (RAM), there are also performance issues
- 9.5 KTTS video was apparently already made
- developers were working on TXAA anti-aliasing, they scrapped it because “it turned out to be shit”
- the amount of 200 people working on WoT includes artists and testers
- dynamic tank characteristics are still in the development queue, Storm admits they were pushed numerous times to the back due to other priorities
- there is generally no such thing as a plan for unification of WoT, WoWp and WoWs interface
- HD models are being made by outsourcers
- chat 2.0 server part was gradually implemented since spring 2014. After that is done, developers will add the client side.

…what? 185 pen on a tier 8 with somewhat mediocre speed and no armor doesn’t get limited mm? Seems legit…

Can someone elaborate on what this is referring to?

+1, probably not worth the money then.. :(

+1, i’d like to know that too

      • Does anyone realize how long the havok engine has been out? Like this thing is old news. Remember the star wars force unleashed games? They used the havok engine. This game is way behind the Times.

        • What was the rumors? Two….lets see that again…..TWO people were working on Havok.
Screw that – motion physics first is needed, but god knows WHEN it will arrive. Maybe when AW comes out.

And why delayed? Thats right – optimisation. We know how WG is good with optimisation :D

          • WG Does optimize the game pretty well.. at least for the low end computers.. for the high end ones.. well.. at least it’s not bugging out like War Thunder..

    • That client calculates tank stats, like reload time, traverse , hp/t on real time in garage, so you can easily find out how changes like adding certain equipment will affect the tank.

    • It’s referring to showing the tanks actual reload, aim time, view range, radio range and accuracy based on how skilled a crew is in the tank, along with what equipment and consumables are equipped.

There are mods that already do this, but WG still hasn’t seemed to figure out how to do it themselves.

    • T-44 with with 175mm of penetration say hi !

And STA-2 has premium rounds with 275mm of pen which is far better than 235mm of T-44. Panther 88 is only tank that should get limited MM, remaining 3 (AMX CDC, STA-1, FV4202) has enough fire power to deal with tier 10.

      • So they’re encouraging us to use gold ammo more often than using regular credit bought ammo?

    • 185mm of penetration on a T8 medium is better than many (especially with good gun handling). The only ones with more are the outliers like the Object 416 (201), Panther II/88 (203mm), Indien Panzer (212mm), STA-1 (218mm), and Centurion I (226mm). And of those, the Indien-Panzer suffers gun handling issues, the Centurion has low DPM, and the Panthers are Panthers (big targets and slightly high aim time, but otherwise alright).

      • Exactly. Don’t know what’s wrong with 185mm pen on a prem veichle. It’s not like they are made to be OP.

        • I seem to have confused some numbers. considering that sta-1 has the same pen its fine. and it’s certainly not a bad tank.

        • The FCM 50t (basically a medium tank sold as a heavy trainer) has 212 penetration and it has premium matchmaking (and is faster, and has more armor… the list goes on), while this thing is slower than the FCM and has less base penetration and it does not get premium matchmaking. Seems a bit odd.

    • the t-44 gets 175 pen , the t-34-2 180 and the sta-2 is a premium which are meant to be worse than regular tanks of that tier.

      • You guys are stupid or just pretending to be?
T-44 and T-34-2 has 800mm armor compared to STA absolute paper values AND the same or better mobility.
There’s no way STA-2 should get a full MM, because all of the characteristics of that tank are mediocore – it can’t fly through the battlefield, it can’t bounce shit and it can’t pen shit. So, who in its right mind would buy such a tank, if you have better options with limited MM available?

      • Yes it is fine. But either way, a prem tenk should be worse than a regular tank if it has regular MM. This tells me that there are many prem tenks who has limited MM which are too good.

        • For a T8 premium medium, STA-2 looks well balanced, all things considered. Funny how although it has same firepower and relatively same mobility as Type 59, the armor difference is HUUUUGE, the first being paper while the latter being downright OP, on par with T-54, especially since it meets a lot of T6+T7.

When are people gonna realize Type 59 is OP and it needs a severe nerf ?

  2. - there is generally no such thing as a plan for unification of WoT, WoWp and WoWs interface

    Yeah, cause it’s already unified.

  3. Guess their STA-2 sales will be pretty low. A relatively poor and expensive T8 prem supplementing already unpopular line… They kinda shoot themselves in the foot by not giving those tanks prem MM.

I don’t really understand WG’s policy regarding prems. It’s in their best interest to create a fun, fast medium with limited MM that isn’t FCM 50t (some people dislike the size and no camo of that tank), that thing would be pure profit, but NOPE gotta create some more impotent t8 meds with regular MM instead.

    All hope in AMX CdC!

    • ” It’s in their best interest to create a fun, fast medium with limited MM ”
After Type 59, they are too careful to not create an OP medium (they are the toughest to balance, IMO). Because what you described is exactly what Type was. And nobody wants to see 15 vs 15 STA-2s.

      • I think all tier 8 tanks are fun and has potential, even the premium ones. And about the panther mit 8.8cm, I mean if you dont like it you can always play the regular panther II. People have been too spoiled with premium tanks and many of them dont even suit their regular purpose, specialy since tiger II got lfp nerf and is3 for weaker pike nose, it means they can get penned by 175mm guns much more reliable and this is game changing really.

      • ‘Type 59′ with no armour would be pretty well balanced for a prem-MM med.

Problem with Type when it came out was that it had everything.
Unfortunately it is the only high tier premium medium tank that handles like one – which is why I wouldn’t mind one.
What are our other options for tier 8 premiums?
Super Pershing? because that handles like a medium tank…

  4. “Storm says he can’t talk about the Havok development, but he mentioned that one of the issues is that with a lot of destruction on the screen, it consumes too much memory (RAM), there are also performance issues”
    - Not only that it will tax the CPU too much, which can be expected from a single threaded application. I knew havoc was going to be complicated and we will either get no havoc or a heavily nerfed one with just a few effects and NOT like those we saw in the videos. Either way haviocie is optional so I dont care. Also RAM, video memory or the other RAM on motherboard?

  5. Imagine the T-34-3 without limited MM, omg that would be terrible, what is WG thinking?

  6. What’s the (historical) reason for HEATs flying faster than AP ? Is it to ease long range fighting, or just that the shell is lighter with an equal propellant charge ?

    • Faster shell = better effective hit chance. In late 1950s fuses were finally made reliable and fast acting enough for HEAT to move 800-1000m/s and still not fuck up liner on impact before fuse worked.

  7. - developers were working on TXAA anti-aliasing, they scrapped it because “it turned out to be shit”

Probably made the game run terribly, or caused some graphical issues that’d take too much effort to fix (like implementing MSAA support…)

If they’d implement better UI scaling (for stuff other than just the minimap) it’d be fairly easy for players to use something like Nvidia DSR or GeDoSaTo for downsampling / SSAA.

    • TXAA is shit. It’s just MSAA with FXAA blurring. Small textures just end up being blurred, a good example is Far Cry 4. Turn on TXAA 4x. Look at the watch face. Then switch to MSAA. Notice how much clearer it is.

      • Yeah, I don’t like the blurriness of it either. I’d prefer to use MSAA, but it’s not currently supported with the “Improved” renderer…

        • Any “improved” renderer that takes away MSAA is probably some style of deferred rendering, which is a technology that allows more dynamic lights in a scene.

Unfortunately, deferred rendering has some severe drawbacks, and not being able to use MSAA is one of those drawbacks. I’m not entirely convinced the benefits of deferred rendering really outweighs its drawbacks.

There is a new technology that nVidia came out with called DSR (but see note below*), which is MSAA on steroids, and it bypasses the limitations of deferred rendering by simply rendering things at a higher resolution. This is great, but it has two negative effects:

          - It requires an enormous amount of horsepower. I have a recently built semi-beefy gaming PC, and it absolutely struggles with WoT with DSR turned on. You’ll absolutely need something cutting edge to run it, with the absolute best components.

          - It makes the UI elements tiny. Apparently, WoT won’t scale its UI elements with the resolution.

So, while DSR is probably going to be the best option with deferred rendering in the future, video cards will have to catch up with the tremendous amounts of horsepower it requires.

(* nVidia didn’t really invent the technique – it’s been used in pre-rendered things like movies for a long time – but only recently has technology gotten to the point where it’s practical for realtime use such as video games.)

There are some alternative antialiasing techniques that might be worth looking at, such as CMAA and Forward+. I’m actually surprised Wargaming simply slapped in FXAA, which is honestly one of the poorer forms of AA for use with deferred rendering.

          • DSR “new technology” lol

I use downsampling (=DSR) since years! Only thing that is new, is that NV finally implements it in the driver itself. But custom downsampling is still superior (flexible resolutions, no matter 16:9, 16:10, 4:3 or 21:9 format).

To bad that WoT scales so shitty, 5k runs with like 30 fps and drops below that even on a heavenly overclocked GTX TITAN.

  8. In development; no comments; KTTC (ASAP); no plans; cant tell for now; being tested; optimising…

WG do n+1 things and cant do at least one properly…

  9. - developers were working on TXAA anti-aliasing, they scrapped it because “it turned out to be shit”

    - Storm says he can’t talk about the Havok development, but he mentioned that one of the issues is that with a lot of destruction on the screen, it consumes too much memory (RAM), there are also performance issues

This company is full of shit. The only reason it turned out to be shit was because of the shity engine and optimization used to create the game. lol. And again, Havok is going bad because it won’t work with their engine. The devs have officially went full retard xD

  10. “- 9.5 KTTS video was apparently already made”
They will have to make a new one, when they realize that they won’t be able to release the new British branch in 9.5. ( Same thing already happened two years ago with the chinese… )

  11. - Storm says he can’t talk about the Havok development, but he mentioned that one of the issues is that with a lot of destruction on the screen, it consumes too much memory (RAM), there are also performance issues

Unlike now when the game doesn’t consume RAM at all. Everything is loaded from the HDD ignoring the RAM.

    • Don’t think so – I have 16GB ram and before launching battle screen I have 10GB committed to system, apps and cache. Once battle launches, I have about 14.5GB committed to system, apps and the cache. The cache sees the largest increase in RAM use..

      • Do you cache WOT in a ram-disk? because otherwise you shouldn’t be seeing such an increase.

WOT hasn’t hit the 64bit era yet and is limited to 1GB RAM still – anything else goes in swap
