An interesting article about how Serbian army is getting rid of tanks.

Oh yes and WG NA has a special event, where you can buy a Type 62 for 50 bucks for 24 hours.

And one more thing: just got another email saying “where’s the translations today” – apart from the “don’t rush me” answer (obviously, I’d do it faster if I could), please “like” the Facebook FTR page (if you are into the whole FB thing), I usually write there if there are some issues or delays.

- gold ammo will not be removed from the game
- the AMX-30 “branch” will consist of only two vehicles: AMX-30 prototype and AMX-30
- regarding various attempts of players to propose a full French medium branch: “The fact that you consider it possible to implement doesn’t mean it actually is, there are reasons why it isn’t.”
- Storm confirms that Havok was shelved for a complete overhaul, it won’t come anytime soon

- Storm agrees that giving artillery more XP for its damage will reduce the time spent grinding artillery on lower tiers, which is a good thing
- AMX CDC will as usual be available in 9.6 only in premium shop, it will be available for gold in the game in 9.7
- spotting system will be reworked so that the spotting checks will tick with the same frequency at all distances. The servers will handle it, as Wargaming reworked completely the spotting check algorhitms, which will result in the increase of performance by several orders
- according to Storm, spotting mechanics are “completely transparent”
- spotting system was not changed for several years now
- Storm argues that Stalingrad and Kharkov are not “corridor” maps and that they aren’t too “closed” – he played them on heavies and TD’s and liked it
- Storm denies that Maus has good stats because only skilled players play it – it is played by the same players as other tanks
- the external module (gun) saving throw will not be removed – WG tested it and without it, the gun would be broken all the time
- fog of war in random battles? “Only experiments are running for now. We haven’t decided anything yet.”
- Storm states that the artillery model “low damage over large surface” is not viable, as constant (even if small) damage will infuriate players much more than an occasional oneshot
- WG is still considering the option to hide some players nickname in the battle somehow
- VK100.01 “Mammut” was not made tier 9 instead of Mauschen because its armor is too thin
- regarding the issue of very large maps – one of the problems is that they would make the situation where your flanks are secure impossible, as any “obstacle” will be possible to overcome easily by further flanking, unless you split the map into giant corridors. This is not a theory, this was tested and verified by Wargaming.
- Storm confirms that the statement “big maps = automatical bad battle for slow tanks” is true
- apparently, the “sticking” of aim reticles to close objects in arcade mode will not be changed
- the Mines map upper base advantage was fixed in 9.6
- according to Storm, the statement that 2/3 of all maps in the game consist of corridors is not true
- “tanking by tracks” (SS: a technique, where you – instead of armor – present your enemy your vehicle’s tracks, resulting in them “eating” the shells at the cost of permadetrack, while the trajectory of the shell does not cross the hull – mostly during sidescraping) will never count as “armor blocked”
- Chieftain Mk.2 (replacement of FV215b) will be “cool”
- Storm comments on various skill MM proposals, where players propose to split playerbase into leagues or to match you with players of the same skill as yours: “This will reduce the “pwn” factor. It is not interesting to have each battle on the edge. A cycle of “pwn” and “fail” battles does keep the players playing much longer.”
- most terrain inconsistencies between what you see and collision model can be solved by setting the landscape quality setting to one level higher than minimal settings
- Chat 2.0 is being introduced in parts, in 9.6 another bit will come
- a “platoon finder” mechanism will be introduced
- the threshold for a patch size is roughly 1,5 GB – any bigger patch and it will be a problem for a large number of players, that play with poor internet
- new Bigworld version will come in 9.7, but all the changes will be internal, a player will not notice anything – even though the version contains some optimizations (some of them very serious), so it’s possible some players will see higher FPS
- Storm states that removing the issue where tanks “jump” (teleport) when you watch them from long distance is a priority
- artillery XP income buff will be discussed
- Storm states that making HD maps will be much easier than making HD tanks, because there’s no “hellish” process of historical checking of the model
- a player made an inquiry that he’d love the teams to look something like: 1-2 scouts, 0-2 arty, 3-5 TD, 4-6 MT and 4-6 HT. Storm said that according to their statistics, the teams actually usually look like that, with some deviations on certain tiers.
- all the patches starting with 9.1 brought increases of FPS and less freezes
- developers are working on better communication with mod makers, when it comes to new patches (so that the modders are informed in advance). There will be progress in this direction.
- Storm states that the reason, why the top guns of the vehicles are not their historical guns, but various upgunning proposals/prototypes has its roots in WoT development history, this trend will not change anytime soon.
- when it comes to the “shells blocked by armor” parameters, ricochets do count, as well as shots into the tracks, where the shell trajectory does intersect with the hull
- according to Storm, next season of individual missions will not come this year
- according to some RU player, the French tank inscription “Panthére” is incorrect, it should be “Panthère”. Storm argues that the French (WG EU) said it’s correct, so it’s correct (SS: the player is correct I think)
- according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles
- no plans to remove platoon requirement from IM’s
- there will NOT be a skill MM in random battles
- +/-2 MM spread will not be reduced
- fixing the SLI in WoT: “when it’s done it’s done”
- developers did not consider the option to add special equipment that would allow you to shoot gold ammo (you wouldnt be able to without it)
- various cases of getting stuck on landscape elements should be fixed by new motion physics
- regarding the gold ammo whine, Storm agrees that a lot of it comes from people without their own opinion, who are simply repeating the stuff they heard from vocal gold ammo opposers instead of thinking on their own
- the ban on teamkilling will not be lifted (SS: *sigh*)
- the Mauschen in its ingame setup is much more historical than the overbuffed VK4502B (“there’s a project, there are also schematics”)
- fake vehicles will be removed from the game “as much as possible”
- WG is constantly checking for lags on servers. In majority of cases, lags are caused not by servers, but by player’s connection. The whole “servers are collapsing” talk is usually not the problem of servers but of the fact that during primetimes, the entire network is stressed more than usual, so it can be an overloaded connection pathway and not a server issue. Servers are almost always stable. The fact that Battlefield and War Thunder do not lag and WoT does is according to Storm caused by the fact that these games transfer much less data, as larger parts of the game are calculated on the client side. Plus, Battlefield games have servers that are usually closer to the player.
- skill MM will be introduced to team battles
- picking vehicles based on the map played will be introduced to team battles
- Maus is doing fine statistically, it’s amongst the top one third vehicles of tier 10
- World of Tanks will never turn to subscription based model
- 25 percent RNG will definitely not be reduced
- “jerks” of icons on minimap are intentional: “traffic optimization”
- E-100 in HD was postponed to 9.7
- Storm states that before 9.6, ALL bushes on all maps were checked for errors – only the Prokhorovka ones were bugged

    • why everyone think skill based MM means having all players the same ability? What about matching each tier in the battle on skill? as in if one team has three tomatoes in top tier heavies on Himmelsdorf, then the enemy team should at least have orange top tier heavies. If the tier 6s in a tier 8 game are green, then their opposite number should be similar. So no games where one team has red arty, the other has unicums, and the game is won from the start by crushing fire from highly experienced players while your support spins in circles. Some variation is fine, but please, I’d rather wait 3 minutes for a 2 sided game than waste 3 hours on being ROFL stomped by teams that have about 40,000 more games between them than ours.

  1. - according to some RU player, the French tank inscription “Panthére” is incorrect, it should be “Panthère”. Storm argues that the French (WG EU) said it’s correct, so it’s correct (SS: the player is correct I think)

    the player is correct indeed

      • Well, WG EU is stationed in Paris, but maybe the guy who answered their question was Turk, Polish, Czech or whatever other languages there are. Man, the WG EU building must sound like they’re building Fecking Tower of Babel.

Well they certainly have the coordination and effectivity of said tower’s builders…

        • That’s for sure… some time ago, the guy that was in charge for translation (from WG Minsk) send us a complain from so-called romanian staff from WG EU, saying that are some mistakes in our translation: of course there were a lot of mistakes, not for a native speaker, but for someone who learned romanian as a hobby, using the internet :).

  2. “+/-2 MM spread will not be reduced”

I love how someone ask these ridiculous questions again and again. If I were answering, I would troll the guy too.

    • I’d rather not call it “ridiculous” questions… Just too bad that they are ignoring the fact that playing bottom tier sucks and makes a lot of players raging. I’ve had my fair share of battles and I know how incredibly boring some of these battles can be. What’s the point of even joining a battle where you really can’t do anything because your gun can’t even penetrate the rear of some tanks, or even destroy their tracks… not to even mention that the weakspots cannot be penetrated at all. I’m not saying that these match-ups happen a lot, but often enough to be a real annoyance.

Why even put tier 4s against tier 6s when there’s obviusly in the next second going to be another battle started with tier 4s and tier 2s? If there’s enough tier 4s, create a match of only tier 4s. If there’s less than 15 tier 4s aviable, and 10 seconds has passed, group them either tier 3 or tier 5 depending of which of those that also has a shortage.

It’s really that easy, but no, some players argue how good the +/-2 MM spread is just so that they can continue playing tier 8 battles in their tier 10s…

      • It has far more to do with HP bloat. HP is far too low in low tier tanks and it goes up way too fast.

      • If you suck at this game, it’s easier to make more XP in top tier battles, I agree. But if you are any good at it, it is easier to make even more XP as bottom tier as not much is expected from you.

Oh, and by the way, you learn faster and ultimately become way better if you apply yourself at bottom tier insted of bitching around and do noting useful.

A +/-1 MM will be fun for a week, then it will be so boring…

      • I remember the fun times when tier6 tanks could be sent against tier9s, and in some cases, heavies having a chance at +4 MM

You know what we did back then? We used HE rounds, we spotted, we flanked, we detracked, we baited.
We played as a team, rather than load skill ammo to try to pen everything frontally, no matter the tier difference.
        Get good.

          • There is no team play in wot. Like yesterday I approached a fucking Kv4 and I tracked him 2 times while he was on his side and I asked a pershing that was with me to help many times but he just refused because “he wanted to kill 2 tds instead”. What a joke, people dont realise when others getting flanked because they lack awareness. To be able to win you must help team mates taking down enemies and/or getting flanked.

Very rarely do you get some form of team play because people dont look minimap and/or what is written in chat.

        • “You know what we did back then? We used HE rounds, we spotted, we flanked, we detracked, we baited.
We played as a team, rather than load skill ammo to try to pen everything frontally, no matter the tier difference.
          Get good.”

I think that you have either a problem reading or understanding… Did I write anything about frontal pen? No, I did not, but I did point out that some bottom tier tanks cannot even pen the rear or detrack some of the top tier tanks. And that is just a small part of all problems that accur when you’re bottom tier, not to mention:

          1. HE rounds that do 0 damage.
          2. Scout tanks that have too short viewrange to compete with top tier targets.
          3. Flanking that gets you 1-shotted after your first shot (that didn’t penetrate).
          4. Shots that can’t even detrack.

I think that you played another game than the rest of us “back then”, or you simply used your wallet to get to tier 9 or 10 directly. But ofc why would you complain, now you can seal club tier 8s and 9s in your tier 10 all day long :)

          • We all played a different game back then because many tanks we face now didnt even exist there, not to mention that even if you saw +4 tier MM there were far less top tiers. Even in 8.5 you rarely saw tier 10 games in your tier 8 and when you saw tier 10 it was just a few like 2-4 tier 10, some tier 9 and rest tier 8. Now days tier 10 games are common there there are only 3 tier 8 tanks where the two tier 8 are scouts. Removal of battletier 12 also fucked the MM severe for tier 8 tanks as well as tanks with pref MM that have fucked the system and the added profitability for tier 9-10 tanks.

Simple there are much more tier 9-10 now days and much more noobs in high tiers making flanking impossible. So yeah the game was different back then for sure. It is too easy for new players in wot now days due to gold ammo and accuracy buff and powercreep tanks.

        • I remember being in a stock M6 and fighting IS-4′s when it was tier 9 and OP as f**k no amount of teamwork, flanking or spotting helped. Being top tier in a KV-1 with the 107 and face-rolling tier 2′s. Also having to find and remember weakspots because gold ammo actually cost gold. This game is so dumbed down since then.

      • If anything is to be done than only from tier 5, -1 | +2 MM should be implemented

Tier 4 tanks would only have +1 MM, unless tank is a classified as scout!

      • My Levaslaiho and Halonen medals disagree. Bottom tier doesn’t always suck, just like being top tier is no guarantee for epicness.

  3. “- Storm comments on various skill MM proposals, where players propose to split playerbase into leagues or to match you with players of the same skill as yours: “This will reduce the “pwn” factor. It is not interesting to have each battle on the edge. A cycle of “pwn” and “fail” battles does keep the players playing much longer.” ”

Because creating an average of Personal Ratings of the players on both teams and then not allowing any +-10% difference between said averages is soooo complicated…

Someone should tell Storm that 15-0 battles are NOT fun in any way, regardless on which side you’re on.

“- +/-2 MM spread will not be reduced”
    >2015
    >Idiots STILL asking about this

“- no plans to remove platoon requirement from IM’s” – Well fuck you, too!

“- the Mines map upper base advantage was fixed in 9.6″ – possibly the only positive aspect of 9.6, besides the CDC

    • ““- the Mines map upper base advantage was fixed in 9.6″ – possibly the only positive aspect of 9.6, besides the CDC”

About god damn time, how long has that map been in game? It’s still the team with the most speedy autoloaders that wins the hill because of how that map is designed, though. Even if South can win if the hill get’s taken South is extremely passive play while the north is far less troubled by losing the hill.

    • Fucking agree. We could make the tolerance to +-25% just like penetration and damage. But nooooo. A cycle of pwn and fail? Pfft. More like fail streaks all the fucking time. Not a balanced cycle.

      • +-25% would be a whole damn lot. Let’s say that you have 15 perfectly average players with 7000 Personal Rating = 105.000 Personal Rating average on a team.
25% off of that is 26.250 Personal Rating difference. I think you can see why 25% would be a whole world of difference.

Meanwhile, another HUGE positive aspect of this is that it will NOT give unicums vs unicums/tomatoes vs tomatoes teams, but 1-2-3 Unicums on one team would be balanced by 1-2 blue & 2-3 green players on the enemy team. Regardless of tier.
It would still be Random, but it will be a whole lot less one-sided.

        • First: 7000 PR isnt average, its above average by far.
Second: And what if your team has an tier 6 unicum, and a tier 8 tomato, but the enemy has a tier 8 uni, and a tier 6 tomato?

          • Random value is random.

In your example – as I said, shit will still happen. Tho as a low tier, you perform a whole different role than as top tier. So theoretically you can help slaughter their tier 6 & 7 tomatoes and help isolate their Tier 8 unicum.

In any case, it will still be better than being a good player amongst a sea of reds.

        • Definitely agree. Storm is talking out of his ass when saying it’s more “interesting” to have pwn and fail cycles.
The real reason for them NOT to change to a more skill based MM is likely to be the fact that Unicums would no longer have seal clubbing feasts…
Sure, it’s nice to win a match against purple opposition but it just doesn’t weigh up the downside of getting to your position on the map and realising that the score is 0-6 within a minute. Or alternatively getting zero damage because 2 platoons of unibats/russian meds have taken out the whole opposing team before you’ve even seen an enemy.
Yes it’s difficult to make it perfect but that’s not the point. It would be very simple to make it better and more enjoyable!

          • He’s not actually…

You forget that the vast majority of the playerbase are dumbfucks who want to “pwn” and rage when they get “pwned”..

These are the ones paying to most real cash into the game…

It’s not about a “top quality game”, it’s about a game with “enough quality to make shit loads of money from”….

  4. - Storm states that the artillery model “low damage over large surface” is not viable, as constant (even if small) damage will infuriate players much more than an occasional oneshot

But its not occasional and not oneshot – its too often and half-HP shot. W/e – Im done discussing it :D They will adapt AW system anyways.

    • Mehh AW’s system is pretty similar right now. It’s super alpha still though and they seem to be taking the massive amount of feedback on the alpha forums about it seriously so hopefully it will change.

      -Sauce
      I’m an Alpha Testa

    • I like Mechwarrior onlines solution to arty, you see it coming you can shoot it down xD best feeling in the world

  5. +/-2 MM spread will not be reduced.

I would like to see +/-1 MM spread just for one patch to see how it affects the game.

    • Or the MM could just try to create matches of just 1 tier as long as it goes, and if not 15 (30) tanks of a tier can be found for 10 seconds, then use +/-1 for that specific match :)

    • “I would like to see +/-1 MM spread just for one patch to see how it affects the game.”

How about they fix the game by evening out HP and Damage better between Tiers. Damage and HP are a balancing mechanism. Right now they are used to create the large imbalance between Tiers that make people think they want Skilled MM and/or MM Spread Reduction. Neither are needed as neither really FIX the problem.

      • Then rate of fire needs to be fixed as well. Think a bulldog with increased HP, would that the reasonable? Right now there are no issues with HP and dmg at least in tier 6-10. Some tanks in lower tiers have too much dmg, like 390 at tier 6 and 7 for example. Or 240 for some tanks at tier 6.

      • If you are competent +2 MM is good for stats because you get more xp and credits shooting higher tier tanks and or doing assistand dmg. Removing +2MM would be a nerf to income. But by that said its not sane to have tier 10 games where there are only 2-3 heavys and where 70-80% of all games are tier 10 in the evening.

  6. - according to some RU player, the French tank inscription “Panthére” is incorrect, it should be “Panthère”. Storm argues that the French (WG EU) said it’s correct, so it’s correct (SS: the player is correct I think)

    HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Please tell WG EU that they are a bunch of idiots as every body in France write “Panthère”. (I’m french)

    • The problem is that most of WG EU workers aren’t at all French..

You have brits, germans, czech/polish people.. i don’t know if anybody of the “higher” people there is at all french xD Not counting moderators who don’t have a say in anything.

      • You are right. We say “Le panther” for the tank cuz it’s its real name and “la panthère” for the animal (although Panther (german) = Panthère, yeah it’s confusing)

    • Looks like the RU player knows French better than the French (WG EU), if they are actually French who speak well French…

    • I’ve been, for the last 5 minutes, sitting and trying to wrap my head around the difference of these two… “Damnit they look exactly the same, wtf are they talking about!?”. Then: “AH! The dot over the E is turned in two different directions!” LOL :P

  7. “- regarding various attempts of players to propose a full French medium branch: “The fact that you consider it possible to implement doesn’t mean it actually is, there are reasons why it isn’t.””

Well give them then. You idiots. :(

“- Storm denies that Maus has good stats because only skilled players play it – it is played by the same players as other tanks”

Buff RoF to 4.2 . Improve something else on gun too like accuracy and aim time.

“- VK100.01 “Mammut” was not made tier 9 instead of Mauschen because its armor is too thin”

The entire DESIGN looks superior to the Maus :(
It even has a machine gun… FFS, that is one of the reasons Maus was gonna be a failure…

” “tanking by tracks” (SS: a technique, where you – instead of armor – present your enemy your vehicle’s tracks, resulting in them “eating” the shells at the cost of permadetrack, while the trajectory of the shell does not cross the hull – mostly during sidescraping) will never count as “armor blocked””

    Incompetence WG.

“- regarding the gold ammo whine, Storm agrees that a lot of it comes from people without their own opinion, who are simply repeating the stuff they heard from vocal gold ammo opposers instead of thinking on their own”

I am one of the original whiners and even I agree…

    • Have you read that “tanking by tracks” part entirely? It says, that it won’t count if the shell trajectory won’t cross the hull…

Now later part of the translations states the following:
“- when it comes to the “shells blocked by armor” parameters, ricochets do count, as well as shots into the tracks, where the shell trajectory does intersect with the hull”
Meaning, that it WILL count, but you’ll have to hit part of the track, but at the same time have the shell travel in such a way, that it’d hit the hull if there was no tracks on it’s path…

  8. “tanking by tracks” (SS: a technique, where you – instead of armor – present your enemy your vehicle’s tracks, resulting in them “eating” the shells at the cost of permadetrack, while the trajectory of the shell does not cross the hull – mostly during sidescraping) will never count as “armor blocked”
    - when it comes to the “shells blocked by armor” parameters, ricochets do count, as well as shots into the tracks, where the shell trajectory does intersect with the hull

Um, can someone explain how these 2 sentences work?.. If somebody hits your tracks and not hits your armor, it doesn’t count and never will count as blocked damage… but when they hit your tracks AND hit your armor, it does count? Does this mean if someone shoots at your tracks by length, hits tracks but not pens hull and not the first/back wheels?

    • As I understand it, if shell hits track, BUT never reaches hull (too low pen, shallow trajectory), it isn’t counted.

    • If a shell hits only the tracks (so not the hull) : 0 potential damage
If a shell hits the tracks AND the hull BUT fails to penetrate : you receive some potential damage.

      Did you get it ?

    • If the trajectory of the shell would have hit the hull, but the tracks were there to “eat” the shell, it counts as blocked damage. If the shell was never going to hit your hull anyway, but your tracks were sticking out and caught it, it doesn’t count as blocked damage.

Basically, damage is blocked only if it would have otherwise removed HP from the tank.

  9. - Storm states that the artillery model “low damage over large surface” is not viable, as constant (even if small) damage will infuriate players much more than an occasional oneshot

Since 8.6, most artys have OP guns (because their normal MM spread) reduce damage while increasing splash, ROF and aiming time would be rightful.

    • I said it once and I’ll say it over and over until it reaches everyones head:

Do you want another FV 304 at EVERY TIER?

I’m and arty player and I certanly don’t want something like this.

Woras can confirm I love arty, and we all know how he “loves” it too :P

      • Why is it, that every time i recommend faster ROF and less damage (and/or gun range) for artys, i get a “we dont want more FV304″ answer?

For example a SU-14-2 definetly does not become a FV304 by lowering range, reload time, aim time, and damage by 10%

I am planning to write an “arty overhaul” article, but i am too lazy to do it, maybe its time to grab myself together and do it…

        • would you like to be permatracked by an arty? no?
would you like to get shot on the move from an arty more often? no?
obj 261 is the most accurate arty and if you give this one better accuracy with lower damage it will hit the mediums and lights easier

ARTILLERITY for WoT was originally made to force people out of their hole not to punish the ones on the field

  10. Bugger maps aren’t necessary..but some maps ARE toi small for some tiers because of view range. Example, mines at t9 and 10.

  11. - Storm states that removing the issue where tanks “jump” (teleport) when you watch them from long distance is a priority

Yes please because this is really annoying.

I remember a gae where it took me 2 bloody minutes to kill a SU-152 at 600m with my SU-122-44 because his movements were so weird and it was impossible to hit him (until he got tracked).

  12. - Chieftain Mk.2 (replacement of FV215b) will be “cool”

It be better. FV215B is amongst my favorite tanks.

    - Storm states that removing the issue where tanks “jump” (teleport) when you watch them from long distance is a priority

How about increasing the amount of ticks per second to reduce that jumping?
Sniping in a Leopard 1 is hard enough without people jumping all over the place. :D

    • I am still expecting it will be quite easy to be torched or suffer engine damage.
Because we know high tier British tanks are extremely sensitive to High Explosive,
Splash from a M44 can light up your Caernarvon, or hopefully you just get your fuel tank damaged.
While engine damage. L60 is not the most reliable engine and some say it never revs out max because of multi-fuel design.

      Erm. Yeah.

  13. - teamkilling will not be allowed in the game (SS: *sigh*)

Does that mean that your shells will do no damage to teammates?

      • Ok! Why do they insist on keeping team killing/punishment in the game, but in the winter mode I don’t recall doing or being told I did damage to my teammates by accident (other than bumping into them) during the shells flying around chaos. Seems they can add hit points & subtract hit points but they cannot void it? in the regular game?

        • Basically, they want the realism of having to place shots carefully rather than having shells that magically know not to hurt allies, while having a system to punish trolls that do it deliberately.

  14. “hey storm how bout’ taking the platoons out of IMs”-no
“so storm will you remove platoons from IMs”-no
“storm ,any plans on taking out platoon requirements for IMs”-NO!
this guy must have a good temper id be annoyed by now

  15. - Storm confirms that Havok was shelved for a complete overhaul, it won’t come anytime soon

It seems that i was right that Hakok wont come untill late 2017

  16. - Storm confirms that Havok was shelved for a complete overhaul, it won’t come anytime soon

Yeah why not blow 2 years on a project only to abandon it. What a waste of potential. Well I guess we know where the acronym WoWP comes from lol.

  17. - Storm argues that Stalingrad and Kharkov are not “corridor” maps and that they aren’t too “closed” – he played them on heavies and TD’s and liked it

Yea, tell him to play them with LT and MT. We will see after that.

    • Stalingrad is OK with LTs (going west is a good idea) but Kharkov is unplayable with them…

      • Honestly I feel North East in kharkov in the ones with decent penetration and flanking when you can works somewhat decently, just like most shitty (read: underperforming) mediums. It’s a bad map for scouting, for sure but not completely unplayable and gives lots of flanking options I would say that sooner something like Himmeldorf with even fewer flanking options is worse since Himmels dorf only gives 3 real routes to flank through and losing the hill means losing 2 of them. It’s very easy to stop scouts from doing anything really useful in Himmelsdorf. But in Kharkov it’s hard to cover every opening in the defensive line.

Often enough have a slipped through the lines and killed arty or TD on the rare occasion that I get that map in a light tank and I didn’t have autoloaders so I had to take my time to take out TD’s / Arty in that map. Of course I would almost always get killed by a batchat afterwards most of the time, but that’s only to be expected since that’s how things work in tier 10 matches with lighttanks and batchats around.

  18. A cycle of “pwn” and “fail” battles does keep the players playing much longer.”

for me it make me not play anymore because i hate constantly getting retarded teams

  19. - according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles

Bullshit, they are just cowards to admit that it did

    • it seems to have leveled out a bit, finally but in the first 3 days of IM my winrate dropped .24 have since recovered but i have never in a year and a half had that kind of losing streak. that’s .24 on a 14K battle account.

  20. - according to some RU player, the French tank inscription “Panthére” is incorrect, it should be “Panthère”. Storm argues that the French (WG EU) said it’s correct, so it’s correct (SS: the player is correct I think)

He’s right. Panthère. :) (French talking)

    - according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles

Sure? Because it looks even more a mess since the IM’s.. But not by far, due to the average player skill/ omnipresence of tomatos..

    • It did mess the games up. Now everybody cap when they can and everybody is kill stealing…

  21. Storm doesn’t play IM’s – “I’m too lazy to do that”
according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles
Storm argues that Stalingrad and Kharkov are not “corridor” maps and that they aren’t too “closed” – he played them on heavies and TD’s and liked it
I wonder when they will finally fire this clown

  22. “- fog of war in random battles? “Only experiments are running for now. We haven’t decided anything yet.””
“- Storm confirms that the statement “big maps = automatical bad battle for slow tanks” is true”

Decide and do it already. And make maps bigger. That doesn’t mean you have to move the caps far apart, just give vehicles with speed more room to maneuver. Because Tank Warfare = Maneuver Warfare.

“- Storm states that the artillery model “low damage over large surface” is not viable, as constant (even if small) damage will infuriate players much more than an occasional oneshot”

Only this sad sack of shit would defend arty as it is. No, infuriating is being one shot then watch your team’s arty fail to contribute in any meaningful way in the next 25 battles. That’s infuriating. Just as infuriating as anything that moron says.

“- +/-2 MM spread will not be reduced”
“- there will NOT be a skill MM in random battles”

Neither one of these would be a problem if you reduced the HP and Damage bloat between Tiers. It’s also a large part of the reason “Historical Battles” failed. As it is now if you’re bottom tier you’re highly dependent on your top tier tanks not sucking. This is because while top tier tanks are generally better, they also usually have a massive HP bloat in their favor. The bloat is bad throughout the game, but it makes Tier IV and Tier VII (especially Tier VII mediums) almost unplayable.

          • Then someone should go kill the arty. Battles are so rarely won by capping.

Maybe I’m crazy in thinking I rather have arty that’s more useful than it is annoying? Because as it is now it’s far more annoying on the enemy team that it is useful when on my team. Before the Great Nerf it was at least useful. Though the ability to constantly one-shot everything (and if not one-shot, take enough HP that you were effectively out of the game) made it unbearable despite it’s utility. WG has never admitted the problem. Too much Alpha Damage. Something like the M37 should be a Tier 6 with a good ROF, not a Tier 4. And the big stupid guns on the top Tier Arty are just that, stupid.

  23. “- Chieftain Mk.2 (replacement of FV215b) will be “cool”…”
Of course it will be cool…as we will suffer from the next Ice Age when the switch happens

    - regarding various attempts of players to propose a full French medium branch: “The fact that you consider it possible to implement doesn’t mean it actually is, there are reasons why it isn’t.”
Translation: We are smart (idiots), your ideas are bad no matter what…

    - according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles…
Yeah..uhm, well not exactly… 3-5SPGS/team nowadays are much more frequent than before IMs, and in my interpretation this is a game breaking effect…

    - Storm confirms that Havok was shelved for a complete overhaul, it won’t come anytime soon
    INCOMPETENCE at its finest…

  24. “- Storm confirms that Havok was shelved for a complete overhaul, it won’t come anytime soon”
Ahahahaha, I fucking knew it. Just hope nobody remembers the “2014 in WoT” video you made…

“- spotting system will be reworked [...]”
    That is good news.

“- Storm comments on various skill MM proposals, where players propose to split playerbase into leagues or to [...]”
All I would want is to have similar players on both sides. I.e. instead of there are 4 great players on the enemy side and 4 abysmal ones on yours, there would be 2 great and 2 abysmal ones on each side. It wuoldn’t change anyones “pwn” factor. It would just stop the unfair team RNG.

” – according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles”
In some games they definitely did. When arty is trying to hit lights and ignores enemy top tier heavies, when people yolo because of their stupid mission and the team loses, it might have something to do with IM.

  25. “- Storm argues that Stalingrad and Kharkov are not “corridor” maps and that they aren’t too “closed” – he played them on heavies and TD’s and liked it”

Well no one ever implied that Storm is a competent or good player now, is he?

  26. - Storm confirms that Havok was shelved for a complete overhaul, it won’t come anytime soon

Translation : “This feature is garbage eye-candy and the players don’t want it. We’re going to quit f**king around and just buy the license to use the Frostbite 3 engine or whatever comes next.”

    Gud… vrry gud.

    • I cant imagine how awesome Wot would be with frost bite… pheww that would be super good competition to Ctrl+C Warfare..

  27. - Chieftain Mk.2 (replacement of FV215b) will be “cool”

    Cool only means

    Either

It is not “that” easy to torch.
(Still, being a British high tier with an engine that will not revs to the max and broken down quite often.)
Fuel tanks are alright, engine goes yellow.

    Or

It is not as Hot at the fake FV215,
    2500 with a 2.8k DPM?
Not quite sure the L11 is going to be better than or on par with the L1

Anyway, bucks are saved and we shall see.

  28. ”all the patches starting with 9.1 brought increases of FPS and less freezes”
that is mainly because 9.0 was so bad

  29. - according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles
    - no plans to remove platoon requirement from IM’s
    1. well, they DID break random battles…
    2. remove them then cuz INDUVIDUAL is without a platoon…WG dumbfucks

    • Ofc they did because IM are stupid as fuck and missions are not logical. Why the fuck would you wanna hit 2 light with arty when you can hit 2 top tier TDs and heavys posing a bigger threat? WG will never admit they are wrong even if they say 1+1 = 2.34. Missions are counter productive, all games where you are forced to only do one thing to finish some stupid POS mission is counter productive.

  30. - regarding the issue of very large maps – one of the problems is that they would make the situation where your flanks are secure impossible, as any “obstacle” will be possible to overcome easily by further flanking,

Why is that a bad thing? Oh wait, I know. Because fuck medium tanks.

    - a player made an inquiry that he’d love the teams to look something like: 1-2 scouts, 0-2 arty, 3-5 TD, 4-6 MT and 4-6 HT. Storm said that according to their statistics, the teams actually usually look like that, with some deviations on certain tiers.

    Utter bullshit as EVERYBODY knows.

    • WG obviously thinks like idiot players. That is to say for them Flank = a place on the map. No, the flank is were your team ends and empty space begins. No matter where the team is on the map.

If you’re on Prokhrovka (sp?) in an Encounter battle there is no reason for anyone to be on the 1-line. Why? Because if most of your team is across the RR Tracks then the “flank” isn’t the 1-line, it’s the track crossing at B6 or J6. Of you’re on Lakeville Encounter then the Valley of Doom isn’t your flank. The north or south end of the town is, because most tanks should be in town fighting for the cap.

Probably why so many turn off Encounter and Assault, they don’t want to have to think about how to play a given map differently. They want to do the same thing every time.

      • If you win the 1-line in encounter, you can flank the flankers on the crossing, or even get around and come in from behind. It’s not as important as being able to hold the base region, of course, but not every tank is suited for fighting over the hill or the crossing.

  31. - fake vehicles will be removed from the game “as much as possible”
So I hope they will remove GW Tiger P…… I imagine it like-tier 8 GW Tiger with 17/21cm,tier 9 Grille 30,5 and tier X should be Grille 42

  32. - VK100.01 “Mammut” was not made tier 9 instead of Mauschen because its armor is too thin
    Tier 8 please.
Because you don’t give a shit and never will.
    - according to Storm, the IM’s did NOT break random battles
Four super unicum’s in arty and their super unicum tier 8 light friend say hi.
    - Storm argues that Stalingrad and Kharkov are not “corridor” maps and that they aren’t too “closed” – he played them on heavies and TD’s and liked it
Eh, they’re okay, but since he is mainly playing heavies and most likely well armored td’s, it’s no wonder that he’d be completely satisfied. Low armored td’s do have certain spots that they can use, but overall the maps are not particularly friendly to anything other than brawling mediums/heavies. And stalingrad is artillery friendly, which is saddening :C

  33. - Storm confirms that the statement “big maps = automatical bad battle for slow tanks” is true

Translation : “We can do big maps, but were too stupid to realize that with bigger maps, would require bigger teams of 30v30, which would require longer battle times of 30 minutes or possibly longer – which equates to more earnings potential per battle per player if you don’t just rush off and die. This also means that we could use actual historical optics view distances and effective weapon ranges such as the 4k view range of the Tiger and 2k effective range of its 88mm L/56 gun. Having these would achieve our “historicity” however would require more work than we’re willing to do. Furthermore, even hinting maps bigger than the current Wal-Mart parking lots angers SerB to the point of drinking… even more than usual! Having actually decent sized battlefields would give us the possibility of cross-integrating WoT with WoWp’s to help save that failing piece of s**t we created. Having them on the same battlefield would give us the possibility of Anti-aircraft tanks… a new facet to the game, but again, more work than we want to do. We don’t even want to offer multiple times of day and weather conditions to the game, why would we want to make it epic so we could make billions in profits hand-over-fist and having a thriving long-term cash-cow on our hands? We might not even be around in the next couple of years with Russia constantly banging on our doors with tanks and mortar rounds!”

Okay… so long translation, but you get the idea. :p

  34. Heyyo,
    - fixing the SLI in WoT: “when it’s done it’s done”

Err… SLI was fixed my guess by accident in patch 9.5 lol. Two-way NVIDIA GTX 680s from me with latest drivers and zero artifacts. :)

    Proof: http://i.imgur.com/LSJ7q90.jpg

So yeah… because 9.5 patch fixed it? I spent money in December buying a bunch of tanks cause I could once again fully enjoy WoT the way I did pre 9.4 patch. ;)

My only hope now is that 9.7 or a future patch brings out multi-threaded CPU optimizations and do away with the fake multi-threaded-idle-core-detection-fiasco they currently have. :P

I sent you an email SS a while ago during patch 9.5… maybe he ignored it? sadface.

    • You still get bottlenecked by cpu, if you look at your cpu graphs one core is taxed to 85% while gpu 1 and gpu 2 is used to around 40-50%. In ideal cases you would want 100% gpu usage. Even when I enable my two r9 290 both cards get used, but I only play with one because I get 0 benefit from CF in WOT, because even one r9 290 is not even used to max. Also the gameplay is smoother with only one card as well.

49 fps may be accurate using 1-2 gtx 680 because he is still beeing hold back by the cpu. Also I dont know what settings he plays on but as you see the gpus are only being used to 50% befause the cpu cant feed the gpus more data to render frames.

  35. - gold ammo will not be removed from the game
YOU DONT SAY!? (lol what idiot asked for that?… a little balance okay, but … that?)

    - World of Tanks will never turn to subscription based model
oh noes, than we would lose all the kids and ppl which are to dumb to use online payment!? that would be awful!

xD again a good laugh. wg so funny… as long you dont touch their games :p

  36. “And one more thing: just got another email saying “where’s the translations today”

Can’t believe this sh*t…people actually do this? My condolences and respect to your nerves, SS…

  37. I use only 1-10 rounds of gold ammunition. I only use it when I am in a tier 8 game with my tier 6 (Cromwell, VK 3002M, etc). I find people who spam it are the problem (because they have purchased gold and they want to use it all because they think they can “Pay2Win” since they do not know how to shoot at weak spots or how to counter maneuvers by better player. This is my reason on why Gold Ammo should not be removed.

  38. - Storm states that before 9.6, ALL bushes on all maps were checked for errors – only the Prokhorovka ones were bugged

    > Lakeville OP Middle Bush would like to have a talk with u ..

  39. On the Type 62 one day sale on the NA server…

After stripping out the 30 days of premium, garage slot, and 4,000 in gold; players (who don’t want the puffed-up package) are being asking to spend $49.99 for a tier 7 light tank that is only worth approximately $18.00. Farther more, the players who received Type 62 as a reward tank last summer are not very happy that it is being sold. With the power creep of the new light tanks added into the equation, it makes for some very caustic reading on that Forum thread. *LMFAO*

Just a money grab by WG.

    • Players that earned the Type 62 from the medium mission are not happy it is being sold? News to me, and I earned the Type 62 from the mission. I don’t care if Wargaming sells it to other people, I’m just happy I didn’t have to pay $50 to get it.

  40. “A cycle of “pwn” and “fail” battles does keep the players playing much longer.”

    Hahyahahahhahahahhah…. Strange. I usually rage quit when I se 10% win chance….

  41. “- gold ammo will not be removed from the game”
Really? What moron asked that question? lmaoooooooooooo

This part: A cycle of “pwn” and “fail” battles does keep the players playing much longer.”
proves what we knew long ago WarGaming does indeed set matches up for one side to lose, yet they always tried to say it was just a conspiracy, but also ANYONE that uses XVM also knew this was a fact long ago.

      • lol i am waiting aw and no more give any shit to fucking wg. i was really work hard for increase my wr. but no luck. whatever i do results same. they rigging fucking battles. fucking greedy company.

        • You think you do the right but you dont. How do you think there are people with 55-60% solo no gold ammo usage? What exactly is your WR if I may ask, maybe there are other issues of yours.

Why do you think AW will become better? Do you think your mediocre skills suddenly will become more valuable? Imo in AW the competition will probably be alot harder.

    • If you hit a tank at the right spot, and you’re shell travels far enough to intersect with a module (10 × calliber= max distance a shell travels inside tank.) The module has a saving throw. If it is lucky there won’t be any module damage (tank will still take damage) if it is unlucky you’re shell will deal module damage. This damage is a hidden value wich has 25% rng as well. (This damage increases with gun caliber, tough not as much as normal dmg. 75mm = 100 module dmg. 183mm has 244) Modules have hit points as well. Tier x fuel tanks are 200 hp total and 70 regenerative hp. This means that as soon you deal more then 130 module dmg it will become yellow. You’re crew will repair it back to 70hp. (Still yellow) from the moment a module is yellow,it doesnt has a saving throw anymore. This means the following hit at the same place will always damage the module further. Usualy this means killing a module. A kiĺed fuel tank will always catch fire. If the shell who killed a module still has damage left, the same shell will continue and might damage another module.

  43. - according to Storm, spotting mechanics are “completely transparent”

As are tanks in the middle of open ground, apparently.

  44. - fake vehicles will be removed from the game “as much as possible”

Then what is going to happen with the KV-4? I remember it being a fake.

    • It’s basically a combination of various KV-4 proposals. Technically it could have existed but the combination of the current turret and hull was never put together. The actual turret I believe belongs to a lighter armoured and even bigger KV-4 concept while the hull belongs to a inferior ( think KV-5 style ) turret.

      • Yes but note “as much as possible”. Most tanks that were removed were either problematic or overbuffed too much. The same reason E75 and E50 are still there because there are no other suitable candidates.

  45. - Storm confirms that the statement “big maps = automatical bad battle for slow tanks” is true

So…..Fine then…? I will camp in a E100 in Campkhorovka? The devs tell me so?

There is something to this. Here is an article about the strategy called intermittent reward.

    http://therawness.com/the-compliance-recipe-part-3-intermittent-rewards/

It’s the same strategy behind slot machines. The player does the same action time and again but the rewards change randomly. In game terms, a high level of randomness increases player immersion. If the game were non random, either we would “solve” it and move on to other games, or we would continually fail, get frustrated and again, move on to other games.

  47. I find it funny that people want the skilled MM, but as I read what they say it becomes apparent that they really don’t interact with games that do have skilled MM and how having skilled MM only increases the raging at ‘team’ players or players that don’t do what they expect them to do. Right now with the fact there is such a wide range of players around you can expect not to get the support and if you do you will get better as you figure out how to fight without the support and when that support does help its a surprise.

  48. - Storm confirms that the statement “big maps = automatical bad battle for slow tanks” is true

No shit, Sherlock. This is why i am against bigger maps.

  49. “- Storm states that the reason, why the top guns of the vehicles are not their historical guns, but various upgunning proposals/prototypes has its roots in WoT development history, this trend will not change anytime soon.”

Prolly because of health points damage model. In WT when you’re driving your tiger and you meet another tiger 600 meters away from you, the chance of penetrating is very little. Its not so much of a problem in WT where you usualy need 1-2 shots to kill a tank, but is WoT tiger has to hit and pen other tiger 6 times to kill it. Fight between one tiger versus one IS with 85mm would take like 5 minutes

  50. The smack talk about “pwn” factor and neck to neck battles not being interesting is the purest Wargaming a$$hattery. These people think with their gonads, and not with their brains apparently. A skill based system would simply mean that you are being pitted against players of your skill level. It doesn’t mean you cannot become a better player. It just means that as you become a better player, you will be pitted against better players (on your level). This is so in every major competetive sport and e-sport, just not in WoT. And that is because the a$$hats at Wargaming are so fucking stupid that you could hear them scream on the moon if stupidity would hurt.

One word on the spotting system: I had a match just yesterday on Cliff where I had been peeking out from the small rock at the seashore below the lighthouse in my Obj.140, waiting for enemy IS-7s to appear. I was standing still and had perfect sight. The enemy IS-7 only popped up in my sights after it had fired at me. It was less than 100m away and perfectly exposed, but only after it had shot. It could see me before I could see despite it was moving and I was not. These totally incompetent arseholes at Wargaming are too fucking stupid to get anything right in their Belorussian bullsh!t sloppyware. Quality? Diligence? I guess those words don’t even exist in their language.

Havok getting postponed? Now I don’t really care that much about walls crumbling into single bricks, as long as I don’t have proper track physics and get stuck at small bumps where my tank’s tracks cut into the ground, or when clay houses (-> desert maps) have solid concrete foundation walls that remain standing when you destroy the wall, making – guess what? – your tracks cut into these walls, slowing you down to a crawl.

But hey, we need another useless tank line, with tank properties being yet another mix of the basic ingredients that have been exhaustively applied in the initial U.S., USSR, French and German tank lines already. More bullshit like the Japanese paper tanks, Chinese tanks without gun depression, or British generally useless moving weakspots lacking either accuracy or penetration.

No wonder these fucktards have to replace a good product with dumb talk from their a$$es all the time.

Now you can put me down as a troll, but I am not: I am pissed like hell about how these fuckers at Wargaming talk their product nice when it stinks like a huge turd at every corner.

Wargaming, you goddamn incompetent, arrogant, high handed scum, I hope so much that Armored Warfare will simply *DESTROY* you!!!

  51. “- Storm comments on various skill MM proposals, where players propose to split playerbase into leagues or to match you with players of the same skill as yours: “This will reduce the “pwn” factor. To anyone who thinks this game is not rigged, if you do not get that WG is admitting, in this statement, that they do in fact rig the game, YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT.

    • I’d also contest the basic premise.

Games where it’s clear within the first couple of minutes that you’re going to lose and there’s really not anything you can do about it basically leave you feeling like you’ve wasted time and, at higher tiers, credits on something that just wasn’t enjoyable.

While the other ones… sure, it’s a great feeling when you’re the one doing the pwning. However, usually in those games there’s a fraction of players that are doing awesome, while the rest – particularly arty and slow tanks – are basically racing to score any hits at all before the match is over.

So, if we assume for the sake of pulling statistics out of my rear that roughly half of the winning team is in the ‘pwning’ category (it’s probably usually less, in my observation it’s usually five or less) then only roughly 1/4 of players are actually having fun in any such one-sided match.

It’s the games where the outcome is in reasonable doubt for at least the first four or five minutes that are actually enjoyable. And that 1/4 (or less) of one-sided games where you’re one of the people who has a good game are still not as much fun as those times when you play a decisive role in an otherwise close game by being awesome.

  52. - Storm states that before 9.6, ALL bushes on all maps were checked for errors – only the Prokhorovka ones were bugged

If by “checked” they mean “not checked” this answer is fine but I would say they didn’t check airfield very well.
To me this was filled with more typical WG, ignore the player base be, nothing new here.

  53. I call bullshit on WG’s claims that it would be too difficult to implement a full non-autoloading medium tank branch. They could easily have one starting at tier 4 running all the way up to tier 10, but oh that’s right, they turned the best possible candidate for the tier 8 slot into a tier 8 PREMIUM tank.

  54. I started my account ages ago but didn’t really start playing until 8.9 and i didn’t have a graphics card and so every setting was on low and i got about 20 fps. i got my GPU about 9.0/1 and i could play highest settings easily and get 40-50 fps and i believe 9.0 was around the time that the increased graphics of the game started. and now in 9.6 and for the last two patches i have had to have it in medium settings to get 40 fps otherwise highest is 30 fps with drops below when enemies are engaging you. SOOOOO there are no performance boosts. but i suppose you have done pretty well considering all the new HD tanks everywhere. oh and its definitely not the computer because i have done several resets for other reasons

and like storm said War thunder has better servers because less data is being transferred because more of it is on the client side. SOOOOO put more of the world of tanks data client side and then finally i can have 100 ping most of the time and not just small early or late hours of the day

    Boom
