Insider On Wargaming Meeting: Random Stuff

Hello everyone,

welcome to the third part of the “Wargaming Meeting” posts, where the Insider tells us what happens behind closed doors. The greetings of the day go to French community manager, who not so long ago ranted about FTR on some stream.

- getting back to the “survey” part from last time: Wargaming indeed wants to find out, what is the minimum viable configuration, below which the owners don’t pay for premium and other ingame goods (eg. the game is no longer enjoyable for such weak computers).

The Insider also confirms the upcoming “lunar mode”, with the “lunar Chaffee” having following description:

A lunar combat tank designed to fight in the vacuum of space with 1/6 Earth normal gravity! Equipped with a specially modified chassis that can survive large drops with little damage and armor designed to reflect incoming laser blasts.

Yep, the Chaffee will apparently have a laser gun, the map name is for Moon River. This mode was approved for Xbox, it’s possible it will appear on PC as well (would be strange not to).

Just a few tidbits about World of Warplanes too:

- Storm has an idea for Foch 155 changes: either remove the 155mm autoloader and leave the gun as normal, or give it a 120mm autoloader gun. This is however not a plan, just an idea. He considers the current gun parameters “not normal”
- situations where large caliber shells don’t penetrate very thinly armored targers? Storm: “Give us replays of that. Whenever we ask for replays, everybody backs off.”
- it’s not yet clear, how the situation with new physics where tanks are able to climb to insane places will be solved, but some zones will have to be inaccessible
- the current set of maps for the physics test is “more than enough sufficient” for testing
- the current new physics effect where the tank “slows” as if you were shifting gear is not intentional and will be fixed
- new motion physics will not be split into stages, it will be introduced all at once
- improved motion physics caused the turrets to rotate really fast (SS: combined with improved hull rotation using handbrake), there are no plans to nerf them
- currently, there are 5 connection points with ground (5 roadwheels) defining the movement of the vehicle
- it will be possible for the developers to set the track grip for each suspension individually
- it’s not yet clear whether some vehicles will be rebalanced with new motion physics
- tanks getting to such weird places as this will not be implemented to live server, the possibility to move to such spots will be removed
- there is also a bug in new physics that the tracks on destroyed tanks are stuck in the air (as if the tank was regularily on the ground), this will apparently be fixed

Developer Hour: New Motion Physics

Hello everyone,

weekly Wargaming radio show “Developer Hour”, where developers are talking about various matters, is here again. Today’s topic is “new motion physics” with community managed Roman Tabolin and project manager Roman Kunin. The show was kindly transcribed by VK WoT Express community.

- developers will balance new “camping spots” (lit. “crow nests”), that appear with the introduction of new physics. If such a spot is found to be too imbalanced, it will be fixed immediately.
- there will be several rounds of the physics test
- the most popular tanks of the current test are ELX and AMX-13/90
- graphic fixes of current collision models are not planned for near future
- new motion physics should minimize the amount of cases, where you get stuck on terrain features

Insider On Wargaming Meeting – WoWs, WG EU, More Random Stuff

Continuing from where we left off.

World of Warships

- WG expects a large amount of NA players, as NA is most enthralled with naval warfare historically speaking and has already made a number of players sign up and wishing to try it out, one video in particular has caused a certain degree of hype (it’s on Youtube, it’s a battle with a player using the Yamato)
- Generic player whiner: “OMG carriers are the arty of WoWs!” Developer answer: “Sail with AA boats near you, problem solved and piss off whiny bitch” (SS: before you get outraged, this is an INTERNAL discussion, you are not even supposed to see this)
- WG is aware of certain shortcomings of the WoWs staff and expects to have such shortcomings solved properly (Insider: “I’m guessing this concerns someone called “Challenger”)
- German tech tree will be redesigned to add more boats
- posting the “rising sun flag” in the EU/NA forums? Here’s an answer straight from a developer:

“With respect to history, the Kyokujitsu-ki, or “Rising Sun” flag of the Imperial Japanese Navy, has some negative connotations as a war flag, that makes it controversial throughout the world. At Wargaming, it has been our policy to substitute these flags in-game with the Hinomaru flag (red circle representing the sun upon a white field).

Insider On Wargaming Meeting – General Info, WoWp Future

Hello everyone,

the Insider continues to give us the info on Wargaming’s internal meeting (continued from yesterday)

- physics test has been a success so far, the tanks behave *almost* perfectly, one of the main concerns of the staff was not to end up with very heavy tanks doing powerslides WT style, this was avoided correctly and they would like for players to test trying to flip enemy tanks, “the data would be very valuable”
- arty is affected too by terrain – when moving that is, so moving your artillery while aiming is still a near-to-impossible feat “the ground didn’t become smoother, but your suspension is a little more forgiving, just dont expect to kill anything”

- It’s entirely possible to add weather system to WoT – rain, snowstorms, duststorms, etc, and the graphics requirements wouldn’t be even that high to excecute them, however a lot of “ancient PC’s would get fried”. In fact, Wargaming will run a special investigation into the “PC specs versus payments” to find out, whether the owners of really old PC’s are actually paying for premium or not and where exactly the threshold is.

Okay, here’s a MUST see for history fans: Listy found in archives (amongst other things) accounts about Japanese tanks. Go check it out!

Russian server and EU server have this weekend a special offer – conversion of free XP to crew XP (yes, for free, you already paid for the free XP once – 1 free XP = 5 crew XP). For EU, you can read about it here.

Storm also reports that the physics test is going “really well”. There is an effect in the test that they call “gear shifting” (basically, the tanks slows down as if you were shifting gears), this is actually a bug and will be fixed (maybe even in the current test). Another bug is the strong drop of mobility in some vehicles (T-62A, AMX-50/100 and others), will be also fixed.

- according to Storm, 9.7 HD Superpershing is not getting nerfed, it will definitely not be possible to sell it for gold
- there are no plans to remove unhistorical M62 gun from IS-4
- for now it was not decided yet whether the fact that VK4502B will only have one loader while the Mauschen will have two will be compensated somehow (SS: for example by a “free” multi-skill loader)
- for now, there are no plans to introduce the Panther with GT turbine into the game, Storm is trying to prune the plans of “such nonsense”

Insider On Wargaming Meeting

Hello everyone,

the Insider is currently present at an interesting Wargaming meeting, here’s a bunch of stuff that was mentioned during the meeting:

- a new premium special edition Soviet IS-6 “Fearless” will be introduced, basically it’s just IS-6 with different camo, it’s possible this is an Xbox-only vehicle
- there will a new Soviet premium heavy tank with full MM and (apparently) BL-9, that will eventually replace the IS-6 in store. It will be modelled “before 2016″
- new fun mode is coming, which includes a new vehicle named “M24 Lunar Chaffee”. It’s apparently a special event, which makes you fight on a “special lunar landing zone” with 1/6th of the regular game physics (gravity). Vehicles also have their characteristics buffed to increase their durability from free-falls. There will also be objectives within the mission to complete, not just combat. This event was actually created from the bugs where you see tanks being launched to the moon (FT-17 “Lunar Program”, ELC to the moon, etc). It’s being decided whether this mode will appear on Xbox as well as PC.
- Polish T-34/85 “Rudy” looks nice, it’s just a regular T-34/85 with 85mm gun and full MM, with the “Rudy” decals (that are already obtainable currently in Soviet tree) and extra tidbits. The price will be almost the same as the one of Schmalturm Panzer IV
- new US tier 7 premium TD (Scorpion) will have full MM and its camo will be roughly on par with E-25, it will be reduced a lot when it fires (to 0?), but it’s also extrely nimble and agile despite low engine horsepower (almost as nimble as ELC). Might appear in 9.7 “if all goes well” – if not, 9.8

First: Storm confirmed that physics test will come tomorrow.

- turret armor of IS-6 in the game is historical (won’t be buffed)
- Jagdtiger 88 armor will most likely not be changed much during its rework to HD (SS: the unhistorical LFP will stay)
- from time to time, when a battle ends, the client crashes. This is a known bug and will be fixed.
- post-mortem camera (specifically which friendly tank you will view next) apparently works as intended
- Storm is not sure whether the platoon spectator mode was postponed again
- Storm statest that T95 was NOT nerfed in HD (specifically the hatch weakspot size, clearance remained the same as well)

Storm Talks about New Physics

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/311593.html

Hello everyone,

Storm wrote a post about the new physics test which will start soon (according to some leakers, even today at 6PM CET, but that’s unfoncirmed). The new motion physics system (MPS) will have following characteristics and changes:

Suspension

- the new MPS will allow you to pass small terrain obstacles (rails, small stones etc.) without loss of speed
- with both tracks stable on the ground while going with sufficient speed, the vehicle will be able to jump (cross) over various obstacles such as ditches, trenches etc.
- when braking sharply, you will get a “bonus” to gun depression due to the way the suspension interacts with the hull (the entire vehicle will shift forwards)

Not much today. Waiting for the physics test.

- the “klaxon” (horn) feature was scrapped a long time ago
- the option to buy gold ammo for actual gold (while leaving the option to buy it for credits) will not be removed
- the list of individual missions that will be changed is already assembled, it will be revealed in 9.7 test
- Storm states that physics test will start “within days”
