- more detailed voiceover system regarding hits (helping players to figure out what happened) will be introduced relatively soon
- it’s not yet 100 percent decided that the national battles (confrontation mode) will be removed
- there are no plans to introduce new functions (SS: to buff) premium account
- there are no plans to change the Ruinberg map
- no special development is running regarding the loss of synchronisation between server and client, Storm states these issues are not caused by Wargaming, but by ISP’s
- for now, the exact list of tanks for various historical battles won’t be disclosed
- no exact details for “clan bases” will be disclosed yet
- Storm doesn’t know exactly, when (if) the arty aim circle gets fixed
- in 8.11, module crit chance did not change
- no plans to buff IS-6 penetration

2.3.2014
Pretty much nothing new today.
- there was a video on Russian server, where players can apparently send their dumb ideas and developers answer them. Some player proposed to implement equipment (or consumable? didn’t notice) that would create a “holo-tank” on the spot where the original tank was (“mock-up tank”). Apparently, this idea won’t be implemented…
1.3.2014
- Sheridan doesn’t fit World of Tanks, because it could fire the Shillelagh missile and “without missiles, this tank would be illogical”
- new “split” Panzer IV’s and StuG (tier 3,4,5) will be available for all modes, not just historical battles
- effects of ammo rack “cook-off” (SS: burning through the hatches from inside) are planned
- problems with LT class now? “Don’t play light tanks”
- it’s not yet sure whether in historical battles, it will be sufficient to have historical modules unlocked, or you will have to buy them as well, both options were discussed
- dynamic characteristics of tanks in garage will not come soon
- for now there is no info on “super-Tortoise” with turret from Bovington archives (SS: in relation to the British turretted TD branch)

Hello everyone,
you might have noticed that FTR was offline since yesterday evening till today morning. The reason was a massive DDOS attack, that was targetted specifically at FTR (it wasn’t random and it ended once FTR was taken offline, leaving other Edrard’s sites alone). It’s possible the situation might repeat itself at some point. If FTR is not available, you can always find info (or notice) about it on For the Record Facebook page.
- in historical battles, a vehicle will have one fixed configuration (no options to modify it)
- apparently, arty will not be playable in historical battles (for now at least)
- in WG concept, Sturmtiger is closer to a TD than to arty
- it’s possible that realistically, with a small number of shells in the ammo rack left, the turret would not fly off during the ammo explosion, but SerB states they will exaggerate the effect for the sake of attractiveness
Storm talks about 9.0 – Mega QA
Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/278181.html
Hello everyone,
Storm is answering the questions about patch 9.0 in one of his developer blog posts. Here’s what was written in the discussion with him. When I saw the extent of this thread, I was like “fuck this, I am going fishing” at first (considering I can’t fish and never went fishing before, it was quite an odd thought) – especially Maiorboltach’s set of questions made me beat my head against the wall (“Nice, I am almost finished translating, aaand… awwww fuck….”).
- common test will come in a frame of several weeks
- test server capacity will not be upgraded for 9.0 test
- roaming will come in in Summer or Fall
- developers have decided that there will only be one client (so HD/regular separate clients), although it is possible HD content will be downloadable separately. How exactly will this work is not yet decided. In 9.0, this option will not be implemented yet, as 12 tanks won’t be that huge to download and to develop this option just for them would be pointless
- for now, the required PC parameters to run the HD stuff are not yet known, final tests haven’t been made yet
27.2.2014
Talked to a guy, who previously wrote me some interesting info. According to him, the 9.0 test will not come earlier than very late March or early April. But… again, unconfirmed (more solid source than the last one though, no offense to anyone)
- P.Bityukov confirms the appearance of early model Panzer IV this year (SS: 9.0)
- SerB states that it’s completely possible there is an error in the US M68 gun weight (it’s too heavy), if there is time, the developers will move the weight from the gun to the turret (SS: the way module weight works is that although some modules have their historical weight, the important part is the sum of all weights, so module weight itself is basically a balance parameter)
- next account migration from RU to US won’t come anytime soon
- no TD hardcap is planned, because artillery (that was hardcapped) has very specific gameplay and TD’s don’t
- SerB confirms that there will be transitions between various branches of the EU tree (SS: for example, the Czechoslovak T-21 into Hungarian TurĂ¡n branch)
- in the EU tree, tanks in different configurations will not change their nationality, because it would be a mess (SS: specifically, Czechoslovak TNH tanks in various configurations could belong to Sweden, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Latvia etc. – the player was asking, whether by changing its configuration (turret, gun), the tank will switch nationality – yes, it’s a dumb question)
- M103 was picked for HD re-work in 9.0, because it was the only American heavy tank, that was in active service
- Tortoise was picked because it’s well known and high-tier, T-34/85 and IS tanks were picked because they are symbols of Soviet WW2 victory
- the Maus turret flying off in today’s trailer might not be the final version, but Storm states that they have seen a reference video from Syria, where a turret flies for ten seconds (!) after ammo rack explosion
- Storm states that “normal multithreading” (SS: multicore support I think) will not give the game the performance boost everyone expects, it’s not the universal solution to all problems
- Storm adds to the issue above that there is no universal optimization solution that would solve everything, instead, Wargaming has to improve things a bit on 10 different places and the result will come. These places are for example CPU multithread, GPU multithread, reworked grass, trees and bushes render, new optimized anti-aliasing, new optimized water render, landscape render optimization, more active model level of detail, new effects render. There is a lot of work now.
- the points above are being worked on

- improved soundtrack quality
26.2.2014
Check out a few photos from Bovington by Listy, some interesting stuff here
- roaming coming until summer? “Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that. When it’s done it’s done”
- during roaming, the packets will go “directly to the regional server” after logging on your “home” server
- roaming will be available in the beginning only for WoT
- WoWp will get another RU server “when the time is right”, multicluster mechanism will be introduced in one of the upcoming patches
- SerB states that the differences between actual battle FPS and the replay of the same battle FPS on the same computer should theoretically be negligible
- the E50M mantlet is covering a large hole, so basically the thickness of the mantlet is just 185mm
- no exact conditions for recieving bans after 8.11 will be disclosed, as it would allow players to make strategies for teamdamaging/teamkilling safely without punishment
By the way, if you think there is little new info every day, it’s always like that before a major patch. I call it “calm before the storm”.
25.2.2014
- the KTTS (ASAP) video for patch 9.0 will come out “quite soon” (no exact date though)
- Storm states that it’s not known, when the drawing distance will turn to the circle
- Apparently the drawing distance circle will be of 565 meters radius, not 600 meters, so that the area drawn remains the same
- there are issues with traffic apparently (SS: connected to the size of 9.0 patch? Not sure I understand the context)
- apparently, the 6.3. date of 9.0 test is incorrect (SS: oh well, I said that it’s from an unverified source)
24.2.2014
Again, not much today…
- Storm confirms that the Stalingrad map leak is legit
- he doesn’t know whether there will be a statue of Lenin on the Stalingrad square
- 0.9.0: “when it’s done it’s done”
- in 0.9.0, there will be an ingame FOV setting
- apparently there was a bug in the VK4502 (the rear turret one) where crew got killed too easily, it was fixed
