9.1 Test 1 Gun Sounds Mod

Hello everyone,

Russian player (LJ user) crack_usaf was kind enough to save the Test 1 (new) gun sounds for us. Sadly, the Hellcat/Jackson engine sound is not available. You can get the gun sounds here.

Installation is rather problematic – I tried to simply use them as a mod (add them to the res_mods/0.9.0/audio folder), which kinda deleted pretty much all the old sounds (I heard only gunfire). I don’t think that’s right and I am not sure they work in the 0.9.0, better to wait for 0.9.1 with their installation I think.

9.1 Patch Video Overview

For now, only in Russian

Inside:

- Kharkov map (“first historically correct map”, the city looks like in 1943), it has open spaces and tall buildings, many covers
- apparently there will be official video introducing the history of Kharkov
- map rework (see video, comparisons are shown nicely)
- historical battles: Tobruk and Bryansk 1942 (notice that the Balaton operation got removed as well)
- TD camo after shot nerf (excluding premium TDs)
- LT buff
- new marks of excellence on barrels
- reworked the tank ammo rack explosion effect
- turrets no longer stick to the hulls of other tanks
- football mode footage

9.1 Live RU Feedback – Changes

In patch 9.1, Russian players report following issues:

- clan chat and ingame channels are not working
- friends don’t see one another as online, even if they are playing on the same server
- the Balaton historical battle was ALSO removed, this is intentional

Bryansk historical battle setup looks like this:

E3 Stream: So Type 59, Very codes, wow!

From the Wargaming newsletter (thanks to Jalt):

unnamed

Well… the way I see it, you can either watch the stream tonight… or you can watch FTR, because if the codes are in any postable formate (not that “valid for 2 minutes” shit), I will be posting them here. Let’s hope they learned from the WGL code fiasco…

Tank turrets as Bunkers – Wargaming fantasy?

Hello everyone,

recently, it was announced – or rather leaked – that the Stronkhold mode will – with one of its iterations – bring defensive turrets, controlled by bots. These turrets are made of tank turrets on concrete rectangle and look something like this:

Some players started claiming that such a setup is nonsense, because it’s Wargaming fantasy. Well, is it?

Tankfest 2014 Teaser

Thanks to EdFrancis for this one.

As you probably know, guys, Tankfest is one of the biggest tank events in Europe. It will happen on 28th and 29th of June, 2014. And here is a taste of things to come… so, who’s coming? Sadly, I am not.

KV-1 pulled out of River Don

Source: riavrn.ru

Hello everyone,

Two days ago, people working for the Kubinka museum pulled a rare find out of river Don, near the town of Verkhnyj Mamon – a wreck of the WW2 KV tank. Inside of the tank, remnants of the AP shell that killed it were found. Initially, it was not clear whether the tank is actually a KV-1, or a KV-2, only when the hull was pulled out it was found that it was a KV-1. The turret will be pulled out of the water later.

The work on getting the tank out started as early as 29.5., when divers started to attach cables to the tank. Pulling the tank out after that proved to be very complicated due to the terrain. According to the, men who pulled it out, the tank is in good enough shape to be restored fully, although it will probably never actually drive.

Wargaming was also one of the supporting parties (organizers) of the event. They will allegedly post the photos and a video of the entire operation on their site – so far, that has not happened yet.

The Joys of Wargaming EU – Premium Shop Edition

Hello everyone,

let me present you another fine mess from the Wargaming EU kitchen. As you know, this weekend, we had a competition here on FTR and we had one winner. It was not the first competition here, as you probably remember, if you are here for a while and this is the first time I encountered this issue. After the winner was announced, I logged on to my main account (Silentstalker) and wanted to send the lucky winner his gift. Logged into the Premium shop and…
