As I wrote previously, this new T-72 modification is called T-72 Scarab. This tank is intended specifically for export. The previous names cited by some websites (T-72-4 or T-4-72 and their modifications) are false – the vehicle’s official name does not contain the “4″ part. The Scarab is a deep modernization of T-72M1 MBT, offered by the Czech company Excalibur Army s.r.o.

The first thing you notice is the brand new Czech ERA kit, called DYNA-Excalibur. It’s been designed to be very effective against tandem HEAT warheads and two-piece penetrator kinetic rounds, which means the target customer group are most likely the Middle East countries (well, those not buying overpriced American stuff). The sides and the rear of the turret are protected with cage armor, the top armor was increased as well :) The original engine was replaced with a 840hp V-84 (or M-84, unclear). A remote-controlled 12.7mm NSV MG station was added to the turret, the turret top armor was increased. Vehicle’s periscopes and optics now have anti-laser coating.

The basic Excalibur packet includes retooling the entire vehicle to 0 hour condition and the installation of the basic functions. Updated electronics including a FCS specified by the customer (for example, the Belarusian Sosna-U or the TURMS system) can be added as well.

What do Rhodesia and Wonder Woman have in common? Well…

And I went to see Wonder Woman this evening, was actually really nice movie, I’d rate it 8/10

+ Amazing action scenes, really, even by today’s standards, they were really great, the ending is especially epic
+ Gal Gadot (nuff said, I think she’s currently the prettiest actress there is)
+ It’s cut much better than the clusterfuck that was the rebooted Superman, let alone Superman vs Batman
+ Amazing exteriors
+ Final bad guy

- Completely pointless sidekicks who are there only because “diversity” and there’s even hamfisted arbitary whine about white man racism

Overall, however, it was a very enjoyable experience, it’s a MUCH better movie than the infamous Batman vs Superman and I recommend it. Keep this up, DC.

Not much is known about this demonstrator. Yet. Straight out of IDET, the newest Excalibur T-72 mod – the T-72-4 Scarab.

These pictures were taken in Nigeria. The MBT on them resembles a Centurion, but in fact it’s its distant cousin – the Vickers MBT Mk.3 export tank. They aren’t well known, but over a hundred was exported to Nigeria in the early 1980s. This specific vehicle was captured by a particularly nasty breed of snackbars – the Boko Haram group, known for some of the worst crimes in recent years. The vehicle was captured back by the government forces in July 2015. What became of its crew is unknown but Nigerian soldiers aren’t known for giving these snackbars any quarter.

It’s a widely known fact that the Balkan conflicts saw the use of a lot of WW2 tech, from T-34′s to M36 Jacksons. But this is rare even for Yugoslavia.

On personal note, I never believed I’d see this again. Another “Czechout-like” situation and WG EU does LITERALLY THE SAME THING – fucks the contributor over and creates a massive clusterfuck in the process.

Oh man. The video is fucking hilarious and even if you are the most hardcore WG fan, I urge you to watch it for the entertainment value alone. It’s a masterpiece.

From the improper use of the word Wall, I am sure you already know what we will be talking about. That’s right, Mexico! Mexico has its share of really exotic vehicles and this is one of them.

This armored car is called DN-5 “Buffalo” (or, DN-V, depending on source). It consists of a hull of a DN IFV and the turret of… the M8 Scott self-propelled howitzer. Because why not. It’s not a tank destroyer of course, it’s more like a light fire support vehicle combined with light artillery (it can fire indirectly).

The DN hull is an interesting thing in its own right. Many consider it a copy of the Cadillac Gage Commando platform, but Mexican sources claim it was an independent design. Whether it’s an unofficial (illegal) copy or a indeed an independently developed vehicle, hard to say. This vehicle was designed in 1984 based on parts readily available in Mexico (a number of M8′s was purchased by Mexico from US surplus after the war).

I can’t help myself but return to #SirFochGate I posted about in the last post an hour ago or so, because it’s hilarious.

First and foremost, I’d like to congratulate the Wargaming colleagues on this level of fail. Getting Jim FUCKING Sterling involved, that’s just another level, one we at Armored Warfare are still staring at in envy. A short summary:

- SirFoch made a video criticizing Wargaming for their shift towards Pay to Win
- Wargaming threatened to strike it down with copyright
- Multiple Youtubers get involved, including Jim Sterling

Oooops. Sir Foch posted an explanation on Reddit including some pics from Wargaming community contributor discord I assume, proving he was indeed threatened.

Ph3lan, threatening a hostile Youtuber with frivolous copyright strikes publically (of COURSE Sir Foch took screenshots, he’d be an idiot not to) – how stupid are you? I mean, professionally, I can partially relate to your feelings about youtubers who produce content that’s completely misleading, but I’d never threaten them with copyright strikes. Plus, let’s face it, I think Foch might be right.

Aaaaaaanyway….

On more positive side, after two years of working on Armored Warfare, I am sort of glad that nothing changed when it comes to WG. It’s like I never left :)

And last but not least, seriously… Wargaming, if you are reading this, please, please, please, PLEASE, don’t fire the guy. I am sure he was just a naughty little boy and meant well.

Also, I really don’t want to see him applying for a job here.

Edit: Apparently the head of the EU community (WG EU, who else…) responded by claiming that “we didn’t do anything”
