0.9.4.1 Now on EU Server

Hello everyone,

as announced earlier, micropatch 0.9.4.1 (3,5 MB + 10 MB “localization package”) was applied today to the EU client. So, do you think it fixed the nasty bugs from 9.4? Well, not all…

Luckily at least the visual model is correct. Oh well, as usual.

Referral Program Now on US Server

Source: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/402080-refer-a-friend/

I will just leave this here. And the “secret reward tank” is T95E2 IIRC

You can now invite friends to play World of Tanks with you, using our new Refer-A-Friend Program!

How to Refer A Friend

There are two different types of referrals that you can make:

- A referral for a NEW player (someone who has never played World of Tanks)
- A referral for an INACTIVE player (someone who has not played for at least 60 days)

To invite a player using the Refer a Friend Program, you input either

- Their email address (for NEW players)
- Their username, onto the “Invite Player” section of your Account Management page (for INACTIVE players)

Weekly FTR Contributor Review

Hello everyone,

so, basically I got delayed with the FTR for AW. Tried out a new design, it looks like shit and then I had other stuff to do unfortunately. I am not quite sure what would be the best, but it will have to be fast, as more and more news about AW are being released. This week, then. I promise! :)

Anyway, once again it’s the time to thank the contributors, it’s you who keep FTR running after all!

This time, following people donated via Paypal:

Llares (EU server, Germany)
Defcon13 (EU server, Spain)
Radek M. (Czech Republic)

Thank you guys, I really appreciate it, as always.

The best way to help me and FTR is via the Patreon service

This is the Patreon account of For the Record. In case you read this for the first time and feel like contributing, here is an explanation what it is, how it works and how to contribute. You can find a list of all those, who pledged and help to keep FTR running here.

Thank you all!

- Storm states that the new ramming mechanism was introduced in 9.4, because “the old one was very badly bugged”
- Storm confirms that the mission to get the Object 260 will be multi-stage and it will be very difficult to get it
- a lot of players (even on EU server) reported a garage bug, where the camera suddenly zooms out very far, Storm states he knows about it, it will be fixed
- Soviet tier 8 premium medium T-54 Model 1945 will come next year
- Havok: “when it’s done it’s done”
- it will be possible to get all three IM reward tanks (Object 260, T55A and T28 Concept) on your account
- Char B1 in the game doesn’t use the hull howitzer, because it was aimed only by moving the entire vehicle (it has 0 traverse)
- Q: “French tanks of tier 1-4 suck” A (SerB): “Don’t play French tier 1-4 tanks”
- apparently, EU servers were DDOSed recently, Storm is investigating the situation
- Q: “I have a SSD. Loading battles is fine, but whenever I quit the battle, it takes very long time for the results to load (I am stuck on “spinning wheel”), why is that? A friend of mine has a regular HDD and he has no such issues.” A (Storm): “It’s a problem with connection. After the fight is over, a large volume of data with battle statistics is transferred. And it’s this data pack that the game is waiting for, until it arrives. If you have packet loss, it’s possible to wait for it for a long time, until all the info is confirmed to have arrived.”
- Storm on various Russian “experts” whining about upcoming new tank motion physics: “A country of natural born experts. Sometimes they produce Boeing photos out of nowhere, sometimes they telepathically evaluate the physics at long distance. Why aren’t we colonizing Mars with such people?”
- apparently, to replace the effect of terrain resistance (and to justify some tanks moving slower with the same horsepower), a new parameter will be introduced in the new motion physics: “loss of horsepower in transmission and drivetrain”.
- no ETA on new motion physics test for now

SerB on player proposals: “Everything you can propose to us was already considered a long time ago and either it was scrapped (99,9 percent) or is in the queue, waiting to be implemented (0,1 percent). And so with the game growing grows mainly the amount of old stuff and crap, sorry. ‘The population grows, but the sum of all intellect remains unchanged’”

Storm Requests 9.4 Freeze Bug Feedback

Hello everyone,

it’s possible 9.4 brought another nasty bug. Under certain conditions, the game lags/freezes for 7-15 seconds. This bug was not yet completely confirmed, but it was reported numerous times on RU forum. Thus, Storm is asking whether you are experiencing something like that.

In ideal case, if you are interested in feedback and are suffering from such a bug in 9.4, please leave feedback in the comments, specifically:

- server and time it happened
- how often does it happen to you and when in battle (start, end, randomly)
- which tank did it happen with
- on which map did it happen
- your PC configuration (CPU, GPU, memory)

I will link the answers to him. I do not experience this bug on my PC, so I can’t give you any hints what to look for. Thanks guys.

Russian People’s Creativity

Source: http://worldoftanks.ru/ru/news/pc-browser/12/tanks_of_anonymous_designers/

Hello everyone,

Russian server has this pretty interesting article (linked above) about two “designs” submitted by Russian people for military consideration. As in other countries, this “people’s creativity” was actually seriously reviewed and considered by military expert, who then (if possible) wrote polite letters, usually rejeting the outrageous ideas people with no clue about engineering came up with. Sometimes, the proposals were submitted even without any sort of name or return address and two of those are mentioned in the Russian post.

Armored Bus of the Grateful Old Men

On 5.11.1915, a letter without any sort of return address arrived at the office of Inventions Department of the Central Military-Industrial Committee of the Russian Empire. Apart from the letter itself, the envelope contained several drawings on a tissue paper and only a cryptic interesting signature: “Grateful Old Men”

Odd Models in World of Tanks

Hello everyone,

a lot of people complained about odd models in World of Tanks, so I decided to have a look at some. Other sreenshots were made by Russian players (Zozzoua and Andrey Bazyakin) and EU player Am3r1knu, thanks :)

It didn’t take too hard looking to do that, because some of these issues are quite old. They were never fixed however.

IS-8 has this 50mm hole at the back of both turrets (stock and elite). There is no real reason for it (there is no hatch or anything) – yep, it’s a bug.

Object 260 Mission To Be “Complicated”

Hello everyone,

as you probably already know, in 9.5, individual missions (IM’s) are coming. What exactly are IM’s? Well, they are (supposed to be) missions, tailored to each player specifically (different from player to player). Based on which criteria and how exactly will it look is not known.

In any case, what was published – in December (possibly early January, since in order to unify the “festivities”, Wargaming is focusing on the New Year day and not the usual western “Christmas” dates), we’ll get to see some individual missions with exclusive tanks as rewards (these include the T28 Concept, T55A and Object 260). Check this out:

Here, Storm comments on how the mission will look. Apparently, getting the Object 260 (which is the ultimate prize) will be “very complicated” and the mission will be split into multiple stages the way the IS-6 mission was.

This Storm’s comment led to some rage by a player (the screenie is his, thanks by the way), who claimed that this is a bad idea, since he won’t have time to play hardcore every day the way it was required for the IS-6 missions and that “difficult” should not mean “tedius” and “no life”. Evilly (WoT producer) reacted on his post, stating that he should in fact wait for the missions to be announced, before he makes any judgements – he adds that it’s too early to tell the details. His words however do give us hope that for once, Wargaming did not mix “difficult” and “tedious”. Should be interesting.

Armored Snail

Source: http://yuripasholok.livejournal.com/3844872.html

Hello everyone,

Yuri Pasholok published yet another of the strange and wacky ideas the Soviets came up with during the Second World War. Actually, technically, this “design” (called “armored snail” by the author) pre-dates the Great Patriotic War (as the Russian part of the conflict is known). It was proposed by T.F.Fatyanov from Leningrad in March 1941. As Yuri Pasholok writes, the idea was relatively normal from the WW1 static warfare point of view. Basically, it was an armored “torpedo”, weighing 100kg (200kg with a person inside), protecting the user with its 3-5mm thick metal plates. The designer proposed this “torpedo” to be powered either by the user (by hand and legs) or by a battery-powered electric engine. Needless to say, the project was not accepted in service.
