10.6.2013

Today, we have some very interesting stuff going on, as there are multiple sources of answers. First, Vallter (a Russian developer) was so kind as to answer some questions of EU players on his blog. Here’s a summary of his answers (including the Quasar fail, see previous article):

- woman crewmembers and kill barrel rings are unlikely to be ever implemented
- as mentioned in earlier posts, Superpershing rebalance is still being discussed, at this moment there is no plan for SP penetration buff
- premium consumable price will likely stay as it is now, that 10k on test server is for test purpose only
- 8.8 will not bring US vehicle branch (SS: as it was speculated earlier), but there will be something interesting in it
- Waffenträger E-100 gun being 150mm L/68? “No comment, but you will like it” (SS: earlier, it was confirmed it won’t be the 210mm gun, so there are various options, including 150mm L/68 or 128mm FlaK 45)
- Firefly will be implemented after other tanks, that were promised earlier
- Garage battles most likely won’t come in 2013
- Superpershing historically had a GAF V8 engine (450-500hp), it’s not SP that is underpowered, it’s M26 that is unhistorically buffed
- you will be able to sell Superpershing for gold after it gets changed, so players have the opportunity to try it out
- at this moment, the visual camo system (you can buy only one of each type) will stay as it is
-

Vallter explains camouflage:

Camouflage bonus as a result of using camo net and camouflage was multiplied on the camouflage value of the given tank. This resulted in the situation when the tank with good camouflage (i.e. tanks of average size) enjoyed more advantages – for instance, if camouflageof the tank was 30% (relative value) and together with the camo net it made the following 30% * 1.25 = 37.5% – 7.5% difference. At the same time tanks with bad camouflage (i.e. tanks of a big size) this effect was very insignificant. – when the tank had 5% camouflage, together with camo net it made 5% * 1.25 = 6.25% – 1.25% difference. The coefficient from camo net and camouflage itself was equal for all vehicles – 1.25 and 1.05 respectively.

Bonus to camouflage from camo net and camouflage will now (starting from 8.6) be added to the camoflage value of that tank. In other words, camouflage and camo net use will provide a fixed bonus to the vehicle’s camouflage, which doesn’t depend on tank’s parameter but depending on the type of the vehicle. Due to the fact that during summarizing, old camo net and camouflage coefficients (+25% and +5%) would have influenced more – for instance, for the tank with 30%camouflage and camo net the overall rate would have been 30% + 25% = 55%, their value has been degraded and distinguished by types of vehicles – SPG and HT acquire a small bonus, LT and MT – average bonus, and TDs – a big bonus (the camo net bonus is still bigger than simply a bonus from camouflage – i.e. bonus from camo net for SPGs and HT is greater than bonus from camouflage for TDs).

Regular Q&A:

- tracks have various armor thickness, which doesn’t directly depend on vehicle weight and type of the vehicle
- toughness of tracks (SS: and it’s not clear, whether hitpoints, armor, or simply module thickness are meant here, even to the player asking) is 3 times bigger in the center of the tracks module than on its edges, it’s connected with the fact that a loss of one supporting wheel is not as critical as a loss of a roadwheel)
- the reason of 50 meter automatic detection distance is somewhat realistic: at this distance, the infantry supporting the tanks can hear another tank and warn the tank crew. However, as SerB states: “want realism? join the army”
- there will be no infantry in WoT, because it would raise the game age restriction
- apparently (SS: and this is based on one Russian blog post), chat rules are practically not enforced on test server. A player tried to report some other players for advertising some botting or fake gold seller, got told that Support doesn’t deal with tickets regarding test server, SerB stated only that developers don’t deal with this
- developers, even the big boss (V.Kisly) pay for gold
- the purpose of test server is not for players to test all the vehicles (SS: SerB replies on whine that other vehicles than arties are practically impossible to test)
- SerB states that stats such as these are possible even without botting (102k battles, 48 W/R)
- apparently, there were cases, where some developers were banned from the game and forums too, for breaking the rules
- there is a theory on RU forums that in the 2nd German TD line, the tier 10 TD will be the Jpz E-100, in the first line it will be replaced by Jagdmaus. SerB: “No comment” (SS: that would be truly retarded, as performance-wise, those vehicles were very close to each other. And yes, there was a Jagdmaus project.)
- will some high-caliber guns be nerfed somehow in connection with their increased accuracy in 0.8.6? “If needed.”

There was a KWG post from Storm too, I’ll get back to that in a separate article.

  1. Jagdmaus maybe end up on 3rd TD line. But I see no use of it – big, slow, worse front protection than Je100.

    • Actually, if they would make it a DPM machine, it would be a nice alternative for alpha oriented JE-100.

  2. Lolz the guy with 102k games. From the looks for it he is not a very good player. Not even class 3′s on SPGs. Its like he does not take pride in skill and just goes game after game not learning.

    NEMO.

    • Holy Shit! Do you see that he has 13k battles in A-20 ? That takes balls of steel to voluntarily play so many battles in A-20. I guess he just triple hits the R-key at the start of the match and just zooms forward :-) Dead in 20-30 seconds, jumps into next game.

I think I’ll login to the test server today evening just to check his stats on a per tank level. It’s quite funny, in some tanks with over 400 battles his win ratio is just barely above 40% :-D

    • I truly have no theories about stats of this guy but what pays my attention is that 50k battles he played with light scouting tanks. Truly interesting how his brain functions…

      • What’s wrong with playing light tanks? Sure, your influence on battle is smaller if you suck at scouting, and your Eff/WN6/WR plummets, but it’s tons of fun and any team without a scout is crippled IMO. But to say “he plays a lot of light tanks so his brain must be functioning badly” only makes you look like a complete, utter, 2k 20 45% tomato retard.

    • And if you look up his nick on efficiency calculator, you’ll find out that is an “Average Player”, that’s the most hilarious part of it. (800-900 wn7 / eff).

      • What the fuck were you thinking, that 50% or 55% WR is the average? Give us your login data, we’ll laugh at you too!

        • Just for you my darling:
          1460 / 1504 / 1401 ( wn6 / wn7 / eff) 55.5%

And I will not give you my nick, I’m not interested in trolls in game. Believe the numbers or not, I don’t care…

          • Well guess what faggot, here are my stats:
            1956 / 2005 / 1980 ( wn6 / wn7 / eff) 62.3%

I DON’T CARE IF YOU BELIEVE ME OR NOT!!!!1111

Show your real stats or shut up, you putrid twat.

          • Who cares about your stats anons? You asked Ferda, he told you. Now shut up and go to your beds kids!

  3. - This is really old story about SerB banned on forums by newbie moderator. I think after that moderator was fired, put to jail and later accused of treason and shot, all his family was sent to gulag.

  4. Sturmpanzer Maus was supposed to have the same armament of Jagdpanzer E-100, so either 15cm L/63 or Jpz’s 170mm.
As for the fantasy waffentrager, no comment as it’s a retarded design.

Now, if one wanted the truly interesting stuff, the first version of the Ferdinand was designed with a captured 210 or 220mm french heavy howitzer in order to act like a baby Sturmtiger.
The key words in Spielberger that Pasholok failed to read are “captured french howitzer” and “dropped in favor of the cheaper Brumbarr”.

Instead, we get a GW-Tiger rip-off armed with a german howitzer, which is exactly the opposite as history.
For those that would say it would be unbalanced: think Tier IX, the same hull as tier VIII Ferdinand, a gun that would be imprecise (L/9 or 10.5 and we’re talking about WWI-era stuff) and with horrible DPM (around 100kg shells so slow ROF).

On one side i agree with you SS that this would be strange move, Jpz E 100 is a logical evolution from Jagd Tiger the same way King Tiger progresses in to E Series Heavy tanks. There are also those Porsche Tank Destroyer projects posted on your blog by Zarax if I recall correctly, so it would be awesome if that line would be crowned with JagdMaus even if it would be a functional clone of Jpz E-100.

On the other side, I’ve seen some pictures of JagdMaus and the superstructure layout was much more similar to the Jagd Tiger (but i might have seen a fake picture). You also mentioned there was some variety among guns that were to be mounted on those Super Heavy tank destroyers, so there might be smae principal among those two TD’s with Jpz E 100 having bigger gun while JagdMaus having smaller caliber but with ridiculously huge HP and armor, this would make a logical follow up from Jagd Tiger who’s also having smaller calliber than half of Tier IX TD’s in the game.

On a side note, there’s a room for speculation regarding the Ferdinand who’s been kicked by JagdPanther II from the straight line and now looks like “attached”, he’s surely going to be part of another TD line and is a Porsche design.

I’m curious about your thoughts on this matter SS :D

    • The problem is, noone knows how Jagdmaus would have looked like, as no drawings survived the war, only some indirect reports. As Zarax wrote earlier, it was basically supposed to be similiar in both layout and weaponry to Jagdpanzer E-100 – whether its casemate structure would be in the middle or in the back is pure speculation (both solutions have their advantages and drawbacks), but one thing is for sure – any picture of such a vehicle comes not from drawing boards, but from artist’s imagination.

      • SS, the toughness that they are talking about (regular Q/A) is the hp-wise toughness. It was discussed quite a while back (when i still used to read the russian Q/As myself).
        What serb means is this:
        1) the track armor (the “thickness” of the track itself) is always the same (the thickest tracks in-game are some of the german ones and the T95, which go around <=40mm, the thinnest being about 10mm) regardless of "position"
        2) the health of the track module is a static numeral, although hitting the roadwheel (i'm getting this right – ведущее колесо – right?) will result in more overall damage to the module, which is why hitting the e100 in the middle of the track does not esentially break it down from the first shot

        more of a PS than a 3…but
        3) that's also the reason why you can "de-rail" a tank and break the track module without damaging – you may hit the module (which is elliptical in the hitboxes) in the middle, in the "lower" part (the one which connects to the ground) and the shell that pierces the track "armor" does not shift into the tank, which results in the trajectory lieing under the tank, resulting in 0 base hp damage

I can't seem to log on, so i'll just leave my email (for the av) and the name i used when i regged wordpress, SS could you help out with this?

      • Perhaps it is possible to recreate the idea of JagdMaus with “engineering logic”
Looking at Maus Hull , durability of its components, hull weight, center of mass , layout of engine, battle and driver compartments, recoil force of both 15 cm and 17 cm guns. Maybe it’s possible to recreate the design Porsche had in mind ?

I hope WG will make the job done well, i don’t mind them introducing “fantasy” designs as long as there was at least an idea of creating these tanks in real life (as with T28 prototype based solely on sketch, you may haet me for that but I find it quite legit) but I hope that JagdMaus made by WG won’t be some awkward design and it will look realistically at least.

  6. Seem to have a problem logging in =( wrote like a whole page about the tracks T_T

    • They know the firefly will be a popular tank so in the interest of extended the public’s interest, don’t expect it anytime soon.

Likely will be a Tier 6 TD and get lost in many battles by players who will rush the front lines with it.

  7. Hey SilentStalker, V.Kysli (Or whatever his name was) announced WoT for Xbox 360 coming this summer. Means we can also hear kids raging without them knowing.

In the patch notes for the patch where they made the tracks 3 separate hitboxes they said the middle section would have substantially more HP than the others. I don’t recall if they said it was 3x exactly, but that could be what this is talking about.

  9. Infantry will raise age restriction on the game? How is that a bad thing?

I know there’s f***tards in all age groups, but getting the kiddies out would be a step forward.

(However, I don’t think these age-classifications have much effect. I’ve never met a single parent who’s used the recommended age to refuse buying a kid a game. They usually look at screenshots or at the box and make up their mind on that account.).
