- Storm himself in’t happy with the 0.8.6 sounds. Some sounds will be reworked or moved back to the 0.8.5 version in 0.8.7 (namely the tank being hit and explosion sounds).
- the T-44 will have the sound of shifting gears and various engine RPM sound on various speed implemented, based on real life T-44 sounds
- apparently, the Russian weekend event with double XP/income for top players is VERY popular
- Wargaming’s statistical data on how many people played/play arty won’t be disclosed
- Type 59 won’t be rebalanced (like the Superpershing)
- the fact whether arty gains enough XP per battle in 0.8.6 will be known after 2 weeks or so (when first statistic results come in)
- Storm states that it is not true that the 0.8.6 brought reduced performance (FPS) for a lot of people. In fact, he says it’s the other way around, 0.8.6 increased FPS for a lot of people (SS: including me), if you have lower FPS in 0.8.6, Storm suggests to write a support ticket and ask there. Otherwise the complaints on FPS drops are normal after each patch.
- upcoming patches will bring new game features and optimalisations
- Pz38H (“Micromaus”) had its MM weight reduced
- general light tank rebalance is not planned
- it’s possible destructible sand hills (SS: not sure what exactly is meant here, but I don’t think it’s the terrain dunes, more like small sand terrain features) will be introduced, but not soon
- dynamic amount of complaints per day (SS: the more you play, the more times you can report someone in game) will not be introduced for now

  1. My fps is increased too. In 0.8.5 In medium settings I got 25-30, now on maximum I got 30-45.

    Because they’ll look like fools when all the good players have sold theirs and only noobs who don’t mind completely random gameplay use them. Seriously, I felt like I was playing the RNG instead of humans. Not fun. Back to the shop with them. If they don’t address it, the crew can go too.

    • Imagine when you shot tanks with your arties, it didn’t feel like fun either, it felt like playing with RNG, you never know if the arty is watchin you or not (oh, and you can’t be behind a house the whole game before you start that bullshit)

      • 11k battles and nearly 55% playing all randoms and I’ve never had a problem with arty so long as it was 3 a side or less. They introduced it in closed beta, the clued have had enough time to learn to play. It’s purely numbers that were the issue.

        • The arty is fine, they just have to make repairs cheaper because it’s a tad too expensive to drive now.

        • Yeah, but in order to reduce the numbers, you must either do a hard cap (and arty players will come to the forums because they have huuuuge waiting times, and this is a thing WG doesn’t want to do) OR they can nerf them, so there would be less arty everywhere! My main problem is that when you are playing T10 companies, or CW, there is too much arty, I mean it affects the battle too much, so some slight nerf/rebalance is fine for me! I could say I never had problems with arty, but that isn’t the case, there was countless times, when I could flank the enemy with a med, but if I did it I would be dead, so I just went somewhere else, or I couldn’t get out of cover (if you have, there are a few maps where there aren’t any arty covers, they should introduce some arty safe zones for Malinovka for example)

    • Do you actually realize that it was exactly the point of arty nerf? Way too much one handed wankers did play arty, not fun for the rest of the player base (which was 80%, my estimate).

      So yes, what you say is just like a strawberries with cream to my ears. lol :-)

  3. My FPS also increased, but some people reported problems which are caused by new drivers.

    I think it’s about the shifting of the edges of dune.. for example if a tank goes across the top of the dune, the dune edge will be changed due to the fact that a bit of sand eroded when tank passed across it :P

    Very nice! i wished they do that for all vehicles. Dont know whats so hard to predict a certain engine sound based on its parameters and compare it to a similar one. Ive seen people create V8 engine sounds alone in FruityLoops and sounded just like the real deal.

      • Well they don’t need a patch to change it and it is even possible to have a different mm weighting to what is in the game files in which case I don’t think it will be reflected in the team roster so no way to say for certain.

  9. I really hope if they are going to change the sounds again it’s just a slight rework and not bringing back the old 8.5 sounds because I’m LOVING the new stuff way more! Since when is more realistic sound effects a bad thing! D:

      • It presumably helps a fair bit to be able to cheerfully reuse suitable sounds from :wherever: without having to worry about copyrights and whatnot….

      • Well sure it’s easy to steal and copy sound files that are already made. Also, calling that sound pack realistic is another thing. They sound nothing like real, even more arcade than the old WG sounds. The current ones are quite close to the real deal actually, esp the gun sound and the subtle cracking is very close to real tank gun fire.

        • When my HR 12,8cm shoots – it feels like it shoots.
          When HR 15cm shoots – it feels like its 15cm.

          WoT sounds? Pif paf, weak, very weak. Needle shooters.

          • Well I myself shot plenty of rounds with a 120mm, and heard a lot of 155mm getting fired, an I can tell you, it’s very very close to what you got now. This epic huge booms are nothing but video game and movie effects, nothing that’s close to a real gun firing. What we got now is as close as it can get.

        • Even the maker himself points out the “Historical Realism” in the name should not be taken very literally. :P

      • with premade sounds from other locations that took other people months to do.

        try and build your own soundbank from scratch and see if you can do it in a year.

      • This is a bad mod. Not only it’s not “realistic” (and how can you realistically replay a 140dB SPL cannon sound on the average soundsystem) but they also clip a lot (the samples themselves and the ingame mix) resulting in the kind of distortion that fries tweeters.

    • I too am enjoying the new sounds much more. I just wish the machine gun sounds were better… :/

  10. You can already use the 8.5 sounds in 8.6, except the impact hits sound and the bouncy sound. If someone manages to get those sounds working too, please let me know how here.

      First match in Marder since 8.6, T3 battle with me at top, had a 38H at the bottom of the roster, assuming it is no longer at 233%.

      • Well, they changed how is the roster displayed (e.g. my Chafee still has the MM weight of T6 MT, but is displayed at bottom, not between T6s).

      • Was it on Ensk? If yes that was me in my micromouse :)

        After I read SS translation I immediately jumped in my 38H to try it out with the “old MM” But the very first battle was this aforementioned T3 battle me at the bottom.. well i won’t use it again for awhile :)

    The sound I remember from Giana sister for my old C64 was fine.
    The sound I remember from Ports of Call for my old Amiga-500 was fine.
    The sound I remember from Warcraft for my 1st PC (1995) was fine.
    What are happening in 2013? Why do we need to have sound reworked in every patch.

    I want “Press play on Tape” back! Life was so much easier back in the days.

    • When it comes to sounds then WG is seriously clueless. They just cant make good sounds and even if they do, they just change that sound in next patch into something worse.

    As always there are different point of views and they have to hear on feedback.

    My point of view is, that the hitsouds/bounced shots should be much easier to hear.
    In 8.5 i could ecactly tell you how many bounces i created.
    In 8.6 i can’t because they blend too much in with other sounds on the battlefield(especially if you just shot and you are still in sniper mode)

    But what i do like are the new tank blow up sounds. Much more like an real explosion.
    I always disliked the old sound because it always sounde like “boomtschhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiing + a squeal))

    But yeah i guess this is more like a whine ;)
    No gamebraker, but i did like the new sounds except for the bounce and penetrating shots.

  14. WOW!! Engine sounds!! Hell this devs are so retarded i can’t stop to rage about them!! They make sounds worse then a game from 1994 “Armored Fist” tank action game. It was running in DOS! HAHAHAHA SerB and Co just failers
