Good morning, everyone

today, we have a morning trollsession with SerB (he decided to answer some stuff after all) :)

- SerB is apparently in France in Fontainbleau (lolwut, how about a Q&A session for EU players?), he’ll be in Chicago in August to oversee the Xbox 360 WoT
- the implementation of an additional spaced armor equipment is only assumed, not confirmed. SerB is hopeful that it will be implemented, but they didn’t get to it yet

- roaming (players playing on other servers temporarily) will be blocked during patch update days (so players with an updated client – Russians, who get the patch sooner – don’t try to connect to the yet unupdated EU/US servers)
- the various 105mm L7 stats (when comparing British and German toptiers) are caused by “different turret construction”
- SerB states that the space behind the mantlet is indeed empty (0 armor), but where the mantlet overlaps with frontal turret armor, the thickness is doubled

SS: for those who have not seen armor schematics yet – a lot of players assume that the mantlet simply doubles the frontal turret armor thickness. This is not true. There is a hole behind the mantlet, that has 0 armor and is there to allow gun movement. Only rims of the mantlet overlap with frontal turret armor, the center is usually just the mantlet (so if you decide to shoot the mantlet for some reason, aim close to the gun). Everything has its pros and cons – the bigger the hole, the better the elevation/depression usually is.

- some crew faces will be added to the game, but not too many
- WG does have the T34 commander copula armor thickness data (SS: whatever that means, but IIRC there was a T3X series armor nerf in discussion, SerB however also stated they won’t touch the T34)
- SerB on Storm’s vacation: “He’s on vacation. To get him to go outside of Belarus is like trying to push Maus with a Matilda up the lighthouse mountain on Cliffs”
- 7/42 format and other cybersport options are still planned
- banned mods list is apparently not retroactive: if a mod is banned, players, who used it before before the official ban won’t be punished (even if WG had proofs)
- the M48A1 turret with 105mm ingame is historical and it won’t be changed
- developers are thinking of removing the company battle feature where a part of loser’s profit goes to the winning team, they consider this feature a failure
- the WoWp feature of comparing characteristis with your enemies won’t be implemented into the WoT
- a player suggested (since the devs stated it’s impossible to introduce free ammo/consumables for training battles) to actually do it the other way around: to compensate after battle for money spent on shells and consumables. SerB stated WG won’t do that, because it’s “financially dangerous”

  1. “- a player suggested (since the devs stated it’s impossible to introduce free ammo/consumables for training battles) to actually do it the other way around: to compensate after battle for money spent on shells and consumables. SerB stated WG won’t do that, because it’s “financially dangerous”

Just HOW can this be abused? It’ll give you the exact same number of coins as your would have had to spend…

    • It’s dangerous, because then players would just form big groups and play training rooms for free, and they wouldn’t need prem acc or prem tanks… :)

      • I think they meant any technical glitch can be disaterous. Since it involves money.

      • This is most likely reason, forming only training battles after getting the tanks they like and not playing the main game because everything is refunded. How many would like to play only historical battles since there is no ammo cost to do so?

    • If you buy consumables at half price and spend them in training room at the time when they are back to 100% price again, how many credits should be compensated?

      You see? LOL
And that is the reason why you are not a developer you dummy doll.

    • simple:
      1) wait for reduced ammo or consumable special
      2) build a huge stockpile
      3) wait for special to end (only needed if training battles during special refund the reduced prices)
      4) burn your stockpile in training battles

      • I can see why they can’t refund money spent on consumables, but how about just keeping track of what you consumed during the battle and replacing exactly that at the end?

Or… even simpler… save the on vehicle inventory of what you go into the training battle with and restore your levels to that when you come out.

      • If you have a huge stockpile of consumables your tank will just take the used consumable from the huge stockpile. No money spent. No money refunded.

You could fill every single tank in your garage with consumables and then juggle them around to spend them one by one to profit though.

        Same with ammo.

        Disclaimer
I’m perfectly fine with the current system, I don’t see a reason for this kind of a refund.

    • You would be vastly surprised how fast 45,000,000 players can find an exploit to something like that.

      • …but WG will stop everyone exploiting it..

        well…

…everyone except the RU server of course…

  2. “-roaming (players playing on other servers temporarily) will be blocked during patch update days (so players with an updated client – Russians, who get the patch sooner – don’t try to connect to the yet unupdated EU/US servers)”

So roaming is implemented in the 8.7 patch? Must have missed that news I guess…

      • Aha!!!

That’s why they gave the EU another server…

So the ruskies could come over and use up our evil Western bandwidth!!!

        • A shitload of russians trolling EU servers will be the final nail in the coffin. The amount of teamkilling and other bullshit will be unbelievable. Obviously, WG won’t give a fuck, as long as ruskies are happy. Source: the sewer that is the test server.

          • No, sense is telling the sad truth , russians are more aggressive to teammates than eu players. There were hardly one match where there was not any team damage or kill, 3-4 tanks shooting up each other, because one collided the others’ side. Letting those special guys here would f* up the entire server, and in-game ‘community’.

  3. Talking about roaming, I wonder how it will work with different “mod policies”, recently I saw on the American forum a link to a Russian foliage remover and apparently no one was mad about that (sometimes Murrica is really the Land of the Free after all), on EU forum you can’t even mention the word starting with f* and you’ll get tons of whining and moaning.

    • Probably by then, either the servers will have all the same policies for mods, or you’d just be able to run things on one cluster, that you wouldn’t be allowed to on the other.

  4. “- developers are thinking of removing the company battle feature where a part of loser’s profit goes to the winning team, they consider this feature a failure”

I think they should have said its a failure if u loose all the time, but at a constant 60-70% win rate u can make some decent money out of it :D ( and practice while your at it :p)

    • I already dislike company battles, they’re a monumental waste of time, very very few people play, you’re looking at 15 to 40 min BUILDING the team and then another 10 to 15min of queue for a lame match.
the only thing that can make this bearable is that extra credit for the winner, but barely, take that out and i’m not ever touching a company battle ever again.(yes, 2 evers, that bad)

      • It would be nice if they increase the money and exp income in company battles by smth like 25%.

      • Well some people may not play tank companies specifically because of the loss of credits. Due to losing half your credits if you lose its possible to lose money on a tier 4 tank depending on how badly you lose/how many shots fired.

    • This is what I was thinking when I read that: “challenge accepted, SerB” >:|

  5. omg fontainebleau… i live not far from there… how much you pay me to go and kick serb in the face ?
