For those interested in mobile gaming, Overlord wrote the requirements for World of Tanks: Blitz

- currently, HEAT shells are subject to 3-caliber and 10-caliber rules (SS: 3-caliber rule concerns overmatch, 10-caliber rule concerns the length of the shell flight within the vehicle)
- Superpershing will be sellable for gold only before 8.9 goes live
- SerB states that “tests will show”, what computer will run improved graphics in WoT at 50-60FPS, but it should be “normal gaming computer”
- Radeon notebook graphic card optimizations for WoT? “I will tell when it’s done”


- M6A2E1 too weak against tier 10′s and 9′s? “go hulldown, attack higher tiers from the side and if that’s too tough, don’t play M6A2E1″
- Object 416 M-63 gun changing length between stock and top turrets? “It was done so.” (SS: as in “we simply did it like that”)
- SerB states that despite the second A-44 turret is called “ekranirovannaja” (with spaced armor screens), there are no special armor screens in the model. SerB also says that when a turret with additional armor is implemented, if there is no space between the armor and the additional plate, the armor is modelled as a single block (SS: as in if you have a 100mm armor and then 20mm plate riveted directly on it, it will be modelled as a 120mm homogenous armor plate)
- SerB states that if the “Turbopanther” is implemented, it will probably have just the historical armor, as unhistorical armor is added only when absolutely necessery, but emphasizes that it’s just an idea, not a real plan yet
- WoT HD textures? “I will show when the time is right”
- captured tanks will not be in 8.9
- smoothbore guns won’t be implemented, because they have too much penetration
- roughly 12 man-months are needed to implement one tank into the game: this includes historical research, modelling, textures, other effects, sound and balance (SS: later, SerB explains that the “sound” part is matching the correct (standard) sound to the vehicle)
- the 25 percent penetration spread is not a “random number”, it reflects the quality of shells and armor and is based on how often did Soviet 76mm guns ZIS-3 and F-34 penetrate the Tiger flanks
- when the researchable hulls come, tier 1 British Vickers Mk.I might be replaced by 1921 Vickers Light Tank and merged with Vickers Mk.II (SS: here I am not totally sure with the translation)
- if you detrack a burning tanks, you won’t get assist bonus for the fire damage, as it is tied to the shell that caused it before the detrack
- Lowe situation apparently won’t be changed (SS: the question was aimed at 3 T-44′s in existence (T-44, T-44-85, T-44-122), whether something similiar could be done with Lowe)
- national battles (only German vs only Americans for example) won’t be implemented for now
- SerB personally is satisfied with the Encounter on Mountain Pass, it will be changed only “when necessery” and apparently it doesn’t have bad statistics
- when asked about the ban and compensation system being sufficient in game, SerB states he’d ban more

  3. People are still complaining about the M6A2E1? I bought one on the US server when WoT came out of beta (2 1/2 years ago?) and got rid of it since it was a giant POS vs everything else.

    • Not too long ago, I saw an M6-Monster totally kick butt on Ruinberg in a tier 9 match. The guy got himself a Top Gun award and a host of others, and done twice the damage of the next tank in line on his team. Sadly he was not on my team (I was driving a light tank and was his second kill). This guy really knew how to handle that tank, never had more then his turret sticking out.

    My guess is that the stock hull on the tier 2 Medium will be the Medium Mk. I. and the researchable hull will be the Mk. II. hull.

    Made in the USSR is worse quality than Made In China, give other countries less RNG and keep Soviets at 25% because no way did American mass manufacturing produce such terribly un-uniform shells. Do reserach on the Armory System, idiot Belorussians (note, not intended to target other Belorussians, just the idiots among you, read: WG development team)!

        • You are trying hard to sound stupid… Hey, idiot, don’t compare postwar peacetime develompments to their wartime counterparts, during which the said Japanese had even more trouble than the Germans, due to insufficient logistic of materials. That would be quite interesting if WoT would show the difference in i.e. armour quality in time, as in the case of Germany when their industry began to fail under the Allied bombings, the armour of tanks became no match to the desing parameters.

          • More like raw-material shortages. You can always rebuild busted factories (IIRC Speer & Co. pretty much started allowing for the overhead in their planning), but you simply can’t conjure trace elements needed to fine-tune steel metallurgy out of thin air.

    Hm… i made test of this – there is no overmatch rule.
    I tried to pen BC side armor (this part:http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/3024/oh1b.jpg) with:
    KV1 122 heat ammo (140 penetration) – i pen him at 15+ degrees.
    With E50m gun 9,9+ degrees
    With M103 gun 9,8+
    With IS4 gun – 8,5+
    With ob268 gun 5,5+

    I hope it is not the same current composition (mixed nations in the same team) just with different modules.

    • For real historical battles, we would ned historical places too, not just tanks with historical equipment.

    It takes around a month of work to create a single workable tank skin based on availible historical data. Adding stock effects and sounds is about two days if we’re generous. That leaves 11 months for balance testing and research. So, where the hell is my balanced gameplay.

      • Let me rephrase that. If this much time is left from the design schedule for balance testing, why are there so many useless tanks still in the game.

        And the answer is obviously that if there’s not enough research to be done (for example because the tank is detailed in a widely availible historical publication with the author on quick dial from minsk) it’s still going to get barely any internal balancing despite being done in 2 instead of 12 months. Figured it out after I posted the other one. Don’t judge me.

    Thats not really good, I mean how hard could that realistically be for a larger company like WG?

    • Company size is irrelevant since the first three steps would be done sequentialy. Still, modeling and texturing would take a couple weeks tops, and anything past texturing can be done on a placeholder model to an extent. Regardless, it should never take anywhere close to a year to finish a single model, so unless they have so many new tanks, they have to schedule new ones to be playtested 11 months in advance, or it’s customary for WG employees to show up piss drunk day in, day out, then Serb or whoever answered that was pulling figures out of his rear end.

      The only case this figure would be acceptable is when historical research requires lengthy negotiations with the proper authorities or archive owners, like it was apparently the case with the japanese.

        • Or to put it in a less-assholey way: A man-month is not the same as a month. It’s man-hours. You could have the model “done” in a month if you had twelve people working on it, which they probably do. That “couple of weeks” for the modeler sounds about right… couple of weeks for research, couple of weeks for testing, couple of weeks for balancing… you have your twelve man-months really quick.

    What is it with WoT, I’ve got a dual core processor and it still plays comparatively crap-I thought it was intended for old single core’s ? it should run at like 50fps, it runs about 13fps on mine

    and what do the devs do? just brainstorm for 6hours a day then actually do anything for about an hour a day? if they’re working so hard and there are 12 month waiting “lists” sort of thing till a tank can be implemented then where are all these tanks or bug fixes or patches within this current 12 months? you don’t mean to tell me they just hold everything back so people can whine then make a semi-acceptable patch every few months.
    if that’s the case then they must already have modeled and tested such as the firefly. surely just release small patches regularly so we know they’re actually doing something and saving days of downloading for people on horrid dial up or slow adsl!?

    What a moron. This tank NEEDS limited MM. Type 59 is much better than M6A2 in tier X battles.
    In tier X M6A2 is undergunner, armor is worthless – its basically huge bag of exp.

    • You misunderstood. All shells experience +/- 0-25%, they were explaining where they got ’25%’ maximum from.

    Shouldn’t 3-caliber rule “overrule” the auto-bounce calculation? For example, I don’t understand why it is logical that an JP E-100 can autobounce a batchat 25t.
