Two important things first:

- as you might noticed, FTR experienced some trouble for last few days, resulting in almost not being available yesterday and earlier today for some players. Edrard investigated and the culprit has been identified as the Hupso share buttons plugin. Edrard disabled it and now everything works fine. However, in order to fix other things, Edrard will be doing deep maintenace in the night. So, from like midnight till early tomorrow (no exact ETA, depends on Edrard), the server will be taken offline and will have its bugs fixed. So don’t panic if you won’t ba able to log on, FTR will be back tomorrow afternoon.

- because there is a prolonged weekend in Minsk (from tomorrow till Sunday), Cannoneer wrote me that people won’t be working since tomorrow and the FTR QA answers will be delayed. I will submit them later today, but the answers will not be available sooner than on Monday.

- WoT for OS X to appear earlier then War Thunder for OS X? “Time will tell”
- WoT is not considered a “historical” game according to SerB
- Q: “Are you doing something to improve the quality of the game? How much do you respect the work of your team, when you treat the game like this?” A: “Everyone knows we found the game in a dumpster and now are just cashing in”
- Q: “Who is the game made for, developers of players?” A: “Not idiots, that’s for sure!”
- WoT won’t be converted to OpenGL anytime soon
- Hurricanes (as in the British planes) will appear in WoWp
- new city maps maps Minsk, Kharkov and Konigsberg will appear in random battles too
- WoT API works on OS X using emulators (SS: no idea what that means or whether it is important)
- KV-4 in game is based on N.Dukhov’s design. It was picked because it is “most distinctive”
- there might be optional hulls even for “paper” tanks: for example it’s possible the E-50M will become an optional hull for E-50 and both will move to tier 10, but “paper tanks will have unlockable hulls only when really necessery”
- Object 430 prototype: “When it’s done it’s done”
- plans to use PaK 36(r) from Marder on other vehicles? “If there are any, I will tell”
- in historical battles the T-34/76 won’t be buffed to compete with Tigers in 1943 battles: “Either flank, or use ISU-152″
- FCM36 Marder I gun module too heavy? “How terrible”
- apparently perks rework don’t have exactly high priority
- the “detrack” XP bonus (shared XP) doesn’t apply when you knock out opponent’s engine and not tracks
- Dicker Max and Sturer Emil have identical guns, but their weight is different. The reason for it are different gun mounts

  1. - WoT API works on OS X using emulators (SS: no idea what that means or whether it is important)

That is connected to “- WoT for OS X to appear earlier then War Thunder for OS X? “Time will tell”” i guess
as in OS X has no official support, but there are workarounds.

      • Why do they even bother?
They have so much money that they should go into cooperation on steam linux and have free platform for everybody – so nobody could complain.

          • Just so you know an emulator is something you use to run programs on a system they are not designed for.

This means that instead of re-writing the code they just plug it into something else. I think (but am not an expert so don’t take this as fact) that this will result in slower operation (you have to run the code, and then the emulator code), and so will be unsuitable for WoT itself, but should be fine for the API.

            • almost…

you can run emulators on osx (and linux) to run most windows programs, there are reports of some actually running smoother/faster like this than native windows.

              its basically a “virtual machine”…

a VM is like an entirely seperate PC, inside your PC.

some run Origin in a VM because it looks at your software installed.. spying…

            • The ‘emulator’ they are using is Wine. Which is a recursive name meaning “Wine Is Not an Emulator”

It’s simply an implementation of Windows API’s. It will still require X86 processor to run as the code is ran natively. They also have an implementation of DirectX that translates the drawcalls into OpenGL. There is some overhead in this but it’s nowhere near what an emulator would cause (compared to things like SNES emulator etc).

You can run wot in Linux and OSX even now using it. They even have an active maintainer: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=27815

  2. “Who is the game made for, developers OR players?” A: “Not idiots, that’s for sure!”

Keep giving your best to this website! We all love you!

  3. - Dicker Max and Sturer Emil have identical guns, but their weight is different. The reason for it are different gun mounts
This might also explain why the WT line’s 12.8 cm l55 is so much heavier than the one used in the heavy TD line: the mount is in the gun’s weight instead of in the hull’s weight (or something)

  4. Well this brings up a good idea for a question to ask developers: are they going to include bonuses for people that knock the enemy engine out? I.e. it’s a mobility crit, the tank is going to stop dead in it’s tracks and the mobility will be affected afterwards(if not using a repair kit).

    • To be fair though the bonus for tracking someone was clearly added to allow low tier tanks with low pen guns (specifically when there is no opening to just flank IE city maps) to be able to get some exp without having to spam gold rounds all day. If you can pen a tank enough to knock out their engine you already get a bonus for breaking that module AND your already doing damage so I don’t see why you really need another exp bonus on top of that. Leave the exp bonus for the low tier people who have no chance against a T95 but to track it over and over so someone else can flank.

  5. “- Q: “Are you doing something to improve the quality of the game? How much do you respect the work of your team, when you treat the game like this?” A: “Everyone knows we found the game in a dumpster and now are just cashing in”
    - Q: “Who is the game made for, developers of players?” A: “Not idiots, that’s for sure!””

Seriously, that’s as much trolling – if not more, since the developers actually bother to read through the questions – as SerB does. These questions don’t deserve any other answer.

  6. Who the hell asks, if there’ll be Hurricanes in WoWP, they’re iconic planes, it’s like asking if there’ll be Yamato or Bismarck in WoWS…

    • So far, that PoS game (Note, this is my opinion, if you are a Die-Hard WoWP fan, in the words of SerB: “How Terrible”) has been talking about adding French and British Planes for a long time, so this is a step in the right direction for a shitty game like WoWP.

      • I actually prefer WoWp to War Thunder, for one reason: WoWp lists *accurate statistics* on all its planes. Looking at the Yak-1′s statcard and modules shows what it does and does not do well, while looking at the Yak-1′s statcard and modules in WT shows what it did and did not do well 17 patches ago when the dev team last remembered to update its stats.

      • I can say WoWP is pretty decent now after playing 1000+ battles in closed and open beta.

        • It used to be decent. Then they decided to implement autoaim.

WT is a immense fest of either oneshots or bugged damage models. WoWP is an magic homing bullet hell where evading is meaningless and so is aiming. As long as your plane is roughly pointing at the enemy he will take damage.

      • Well the release tree on the test server, which contains the version of WoWp that’s being released to the public on November 12, certainly lacks the Hawker Hurricane.

        • They can’t add ALL the possible content into a game at release, in this genre.
As, chances are, that plane will get a specific branch, which means ~9 more planes on top of that to add.

  7. “Are you doing something to improve the quality of the game? How much do you respect the work of your team, when you treat the game like this?”

What arrogant, basement-dwelling puppy penned this pile of vomit?

  8. - WoT is not considered a “historical” game according to SerB

Uhm does he mean that WoT does currently not belong to video game history at the moment? You know, this game isnt famous enough yet to be part of that history?

  10. “WoT API works on OS X using emulators (SS: no idea what that means or whether it is important)”

This sentence is probably incorrect. Correctly perhaps: WoT works on OS X using API emulators.
It means: WoT was developed for Windows, so it uses Windows Application Programming Interface (API). They probably do not rewrite it to be platform independent, but just let the OS X emulate Windows API, and run the game on it, as it is, as a Windows application. Emulation is an additional task for the processor, so it often causes slow down; but I guess WG manages to keep this slow down insignificant.

  11. “- Q: “Who is the game made for, developers of players?” A: “Not idiots, that’s for sure!”

hue, good trolling, SerB. You know, because it’s exactly opposite.

  12. - WoT is not considered a “historical” game according to SerB
    _____________
They are just trolling and flaming people with this one….seriously?? Not historical, but every fucking reason to nerf Kraut tanks were historical accuracy….

    • Yeah, the tiger was totally nerfed due to historical accuracy, the tiger II was also totally nerfed due to historical accuracy.

  13. “- WoT for OS X to appear earlier then War Thunder for OS X? “Time will tell””

Considering War Thunder for Mac is already out… that answer would be a no.

  14. - Q: “Who is the game made for, developers of players?” A: “Not idiots, that’s for sure!”

Yeah, right, thats why 90% of the player base is made out of idiots and developers hesitate to include game features because they might “confuse the idiots”

    • this is true. Didn’t they say no to multiple arty firing arcs (low arc, low travel time, and then high arc high travel time, would be more realistic and give more options to the player compared to the current high arc low travel time) because it would be too confusing? lol.

  15. An emulator is just a program that mimics the operating environment of a different system than what it is running on. Basically, it’s a program that your operating system (OS X in this case) is capable of running, and this program has been designed to run programs (WoT) that were originally built to be run on a different operating system (Windows.)

  17. lol oh we know, we know, you tell us oh so often that it’s not a historical game. And it’s not. It really is not. And yet, they use “historical accuracy” for all kinds of stupid things, like nerfing the front armor of the super pershing, to having the Sturer Emil have only 15 shells.

    gg WG was close
