It is the week of flames it seems – check out Listy’s two fire-themed articles: Crocodile in action and Burning down the house on EU portal

- Q: “Did you take into account that in historical battles of Tigers vs T-34, everyone will want to play the Tigers? I will play only Tigers, because playing T-34 would lower my player statistics (less kills and more deaths).” A (SerB): “Of course we did – such smart players will wait until the end of time :) And by that you won’t improve your statistics, eh? :)” (SS: what SerB probably means is that the “Tiger” queue will be very, very long)
- regarding the question above, when asked, whether this will not reduce the popularity of historical battles: “Some battles, yes. We do not care.”

- when asked (historical battles) why not make it just for example 1 Tiger and 5 Panthers vs 1 IS and 5 T-34/85′s: “Because for example in the battle of Kursk, there were no IS and T-34/85 tanks”
- team battles will definitely be improved and their bugs fixed, “when it’s done it’s done”
- shell trajectory after being shot does not change
- gun depression is also a balance parameter – KV-1S for example has -8 depression on the 122mm gun, while historically it could depress it only to -2 degrees, Yurko2F states that with the historical value, some Soviet tanks were practically unplayable.
- to the question above, when asked why the Chinese have bad depression and the Soviets don’t: “Such an injustice. Don’t tell me both the nations are the same. And yes, it’s a balance parameter.”
- the speed of the tank is not taken into account when calculating shell trajectory (SS: as in, the shell won’t move any faster – lowering the entire curve – if the tank goes fast)
- Storm confirms that the Agrimotor was some old test vehicle from 4 years ago, it is not used anymore for anything, there is only an icon left
- Storm states that the ZIS-30 Soviet TD will appear in the game at some point
- according to The_Chieftain (US forum history specialist), he was talking to Hilary Doyle (SS: the ultimate German tank authority) and according to Mr.Doyle, the Germans knew about the 122mm IS prototype 5 months before they met IS-1 in combat

Regarding the account theft reported earlier on RU server, Wargaming actually decided to compensate those, whose accounts were blocked for security reasons. If for example you had 85 percent of your IS-6 mission completed and your account was blocked, you will get the IS-6 for free. That’s a nice move from them.

    • Give it -2 for “historical accuracy” and see how many people play it.

I don’t think there will be any need to split it after that.

      • I think I’d still try to play the KV-1S with 2 degrees gun depression, I like a challange.

      • dont be so sure about it
cause the kv1s is at tier 6 which mean a lot of new player just play it and
ofc they dont know a lot of stuff for the game

        • In historical battles you wouldn’t have any KV-1Ss with 122 mm D-2-5Ts. Yeah I know one actually did have the gun, but it required extensive modifications to even fit the gun into the turret, and the recoil was too much for the tank to handle, so it was a one-off prototype that never went anywhere, particularly as the IS-2 was available by them with the same armament and actually worked.

    • Exactly. OP-1S has better depression for “balance” reasons, while Chinese tanks, who are not impressive in any way, have the poor historical depression. Where’s the sense in that?

      • As the owner of a T-34-3, WZ-120, and 121. I’d actually argue that these tanks might actually be OP if they got 6 or 8 degrees of gun depression.

The WZ-120, for example, would end up being INCREDIBLY superior over the IS-8.

        • it would be OP with -6 to -8 yes (especially the 121), but some tanks like the T-34-3 should get -5 at least

          • Nope, the bigger gun depression will make these tanks OP because of how well their turrets are armored and shaped, combined with above average alpha damage , low profile and mobility you get an ultimate peek-a-boo nightmare. There’s also a very serious problem with clipping, the gun would have to sink in to hull like it was ghost. It would look absurd, unfortunately KV-1S has no problem with clipping even if it had -15 depression…

Just goes to show how better the Soviet tanks are in the game then they actually were.

    • Just give it the freaking 2 degrees gun depression, the SU-101 was supposedly fine with it, and it had a worse gun and no turret.

      • Or you could give my T-34-2 8 degrees gun depression with it’s 122 mm gun, just to give it an advantage over the other t8 mediums.

    • You don’t understand one thing: In real life guns fired at at ranges of 1000m +, which means they didn’t need good gun depression. And also what you said was an absolute fail, because the KV-122 was a prototype, not a main production model.
In game they actually totally decreased the IS-7 from its realistic capabilities.

      • ” In real life guns fired at at ranges of 1000m +, which means they didn’t need good gun depression.”

Tell that to the Syrians that got annihilated on the Golan in 1973. You do realize real life view range and gun accuracy are also better then in the game?

IS-7 was so awesome in real life it never went past prototype phase.

          • It was a prototype, and was ultimately turned down for various reasons, including a shift in doctrine. The IS-8 incorporated some of its features but made them cheaper, essentially being a half-way point between the IS-3 and IS-7, and was renamed the T-10 after Stalin’s death.

They could just answer both question with “Because we said so”

Evil, greedy WG, they only did that to make people spend money….. Somehow…..

time to activate roaming, we need all these proud stalinists to drive T-34s^^

    • What is this “roaming” ?
I’ve seen it mentioned a few times, but I have no idea what it actually is…

    • I will be driving a T-34. I love the tiger, but there is no reason to be overly scared of it in a T-34.

      • Remember, you are not allowed to play the T-34 with either the 57mm or the top-7,6mm-gun

But the few gold-rounds allowed will have their use^^

        • with no 57mm gun ;) historically it would be the second best or the best 76mm gun…

      • Remember, the T-34 not only fought against Tigers. In 1941 the T-34 was almost unpenetrable by the german tanks. Just like fighting against Tier 3 with your T-34, but sometimes the MM puts you against the Tier 7. And almost every tank has a time when it was the best tank. Sherman in the Pacific Theater (tier 5 sherman against chi-ha) or the PzIV against the french garbage. But even the Tiger sucks if you fight against ISU-152 and T-44 and IS.

    • I’ll drive both low-tier and high-tier tanks, both can be made fun in a “Davids vs Goliath” kind of way. After all, the Weisse Tiger event was very popular on RU server.

      • Yeah, and nobody could beat it because it was buffed by ridiculous amounts. I can understand slight buffs in performance on it to account for having to fight one on 15, which even with a two tier advantage can be extremely difficult, but they overdid it for that event.

  5. - gun depression is also a balance parameter – KV-1S for example has -8 depression on the 122mm gun, while historically it could depress it only to -2 degrees, Yurko2F states that with the historical value, some Soviet tanks were practically unplayable.

So, crumpled tanks get the benefits of low profile/armor while mostly not receiving the downsides of very bad gun depression, low RoF etc, while those with a sense of ergonomics that don’t use hobbits as tankers are at a disadvantage (size, profile)?

Well, nothing new under the sun! :)

  6. - gun depression is also a balance parameter – KV-1S for example has -8 depression on the 122mm gun, while historically it could depress it only to -2 degrees, Yurko2F states that with the historical value, some Soviet tanks were practically unplayable.
    _______________
And SU-101 is fine with -2° gun depression? Also i do understand that some tanks would be unplayable so a slight buff would be fine, but fucking hell from -2° to -8°?? And we had to wait for 2 fucking years to get historically accurate buff on Lowe from -6° to -8° and their uber soviet OP-1S got it eventhough it wasn’t like that irl. Yea, no bias at all. And it would be perfect nerf for OP-1S if they don’t want to remove the 122mm. Make the gun depression shitty and voila. You have a tank that is much harder to play. But ofc we won’t get that because why would they.

    • or leave the -8 depression, but just for the 85mm guns of KV-85, and give the -2 only for the 122mm gun… ;) we might see more historical KV-1S setups this way

  7. The Chinese tanks don’t need the gun depression.

I’d actually go so far to argue that the T-34-3, WZ-120, 121, and 113 might be very close to being OP if they had 6 or 8 degrees of gun depression.

That being said, the fact that the KV-1S has 8 degrees of gun depression is fucking obnoxious. Hopefully during the *rebalance*, this gets toned down to at least 6 or 5 degrees.

The M6 heavy ought to be the undisputed king of hilly terrain for the tier 6 heavies. The KV-1S challenges this a lot more than it should.

  8. - gun depression is also a balance parameter – KV-1S for example has -8 depression on the 122mm gun, while historically it could depress it only to -2 degrees, Yurko2F states that with the historical value, some Soviet tanks were practically unplayable.

400% buff to gun depression is a bullshit overbuff, why not -3? The gun depression on KV-1S allows it to get into great positions, peek over hills and smash tanks with the giant gun. It is fucking hilariously OP and yet these nimrod devs still don’t care. Why not buff the M6s gun depression to -40 so it can shoot through the floor of the tank, god forbid other tanks actually have significant advantages. Get bent WG, you continue to ignore obvious imbalances in this game and its getting annoying.

The answer should be, don’t like -2 degrees of gun depression? Don’t play KV-1S.

    • The developers will NEVER admit German tanks were superior to Russian ones this game is their way of rewriting history so German tanks will ALWAYS get nerfed for “Historical Accuracy” while Russian tanks will ALWAYS be buffed for “Game Balance”

      • Actually I think the german tanks like heavys and TDs and high tier mediums are the best in the game, and i dont think they are inferior to russian. How ever as a whole, there are big differanced between tanks in the game and not specially tied to nation. For example some of the new 2nd line german TDs are OP and broken as hell.

The reason germans often have lower WR is because they are popular and played by alot (which decrease their WR) and also because people think german tanks are something that they are not. The character of german tanks is special compared to russian, chinese and even french ones and require a slightly different play style.

  9. - to the question above, when asked why the Chinese have bad depression and the Soviets don’t: “Such an injustice. Don’t tell me both the nations are the same. And yes, it’s a balance parameter

    Chinese bias lel :3

  10. With regard to historical battles and the match maker, what if a player had to have a number of eligible tanks (e.g T-34 and a Tiger I) in their garage and the MM chose which one they played?

Sure, you’d mostly play T-34s but when you did play a Tiger you’d know how the T-34s were going to attack it.

  11. Its time to nerf the KV1s to hell. its gone on to long:
-reduce mobility majorly make it slow
-Nerf gun depression to at least -6
or reduce alpha of 122 to say 200 avg

  12. Question about roaming:

“When roaming is introduced will we be able to buy tanks that are ONLY available on other servers, and be able to use them?”

Could you possibly ask this question to them in one of your Q & A’s?

  13. - gun depression is also a balance parameter – KV-1S for example has -8 depression on the 122mm gun, while historically it could depress it only to -2 degrees, Yurko2F states that with the historical value, some Soviet tanks were practically unplayable.

    Russian tanks unplayable? How terrible.

  14. “- gun depression is also a balance parameter – KV-1S for example has -8 depression on the 122mm gun, while historically it could depress it only to -2 degrees, Yurko2F states that with the historical value, some Soviet tanks were practically unplayable.”

Wait. So a KV-1S with -2 depression would be difficult to play?
You’re telling me that a tank mounting what is essentially a TD gun at its tier and goes nearly as fast as a medium tank would be difficult to play if it had worse gun depression? Ok.
To summarize then, the massive gun and decent speed would be counterbalanced by the very poor gun depression and tier 5 armor.
    ~counterbalanced~
    ~balanced~
    ~BALANCE~
    OH SHI-

Sorry, what were we talking about? Blacked out for a moment there.
