- all shell types of the same gun do the same module damage (SS: I checked at gamemodels3d, HE shells do NOT do more module damage than AP shells)
- engine can be set on fire by ANY damage (SS: even that, which doesn’t turn it yellow), while fuel tanks start burning only when their HP reaches 0
- the non-penetration HE damage formula is still DAM = damage/2-armorthickness*1,3*1,X (1,X is the spall liner coefficient)
- there will be three German HD models in 9.0 (Tiger I, Panther I and – strangely enough – Maus)
- there is some internal talk at WG about re-opening the European supertest…

Regarding the recent discussion on WG EU forums about WG tracking down bots, Decept1on on Reddit forums:

AFKs and Bots are being actively tracked down and if you see one, be sure to report it as it helps us finding them even faster.

      • Also there is no forum rule which prohibit linking to other sites, it’s only illegal when the site you’ve linked violates other rules.

    • Yea I noticed – and when I did, I actually asked a moderator via PM, what’s the deal with FTR, whether it’s banned again. Theoretically it is not, but there are like a dozen opinions and I got no clear statement. It’s likely fine to link it.

      • iScending behaves like a kok and plebs are confused as to why?

Yep, no hope for humanity :|

      • It’s perfectly understandable:
        - making a self-contained post with a link to a source is ALLOWED;
        - making a post which is not much else than “hey, interesting stuff on other site, go there to see what it’s about” is NOT ALLOWED, no matter if you’re linking to someone else or if you’re a shameless self-promoter like Ilosz. :)

IScending just failed to explain it properly (and to distinguish his edit to opening post in red).

  1. While HE damage is the same as AP damage, if HE penetrates it damages/destroys modules in a circular explosion, but if AP penetrates it will only hits modules in a straight line.

This may be one of the reasons people think HE shells do more module damage. I mean, if you manage to make a 152mm HE shell penetrate it will cripple most tanks’ modules.

      • fv 183 hesh

i usually kill 2 crewmembers and destroy 2-3 modules on a piercing hit, the shame is that he wont stay alive to suffer it ;p

    • if not mistaken he wich explodes inside a vehicle will have a chance to damage every single module inside a certain radius ( not sure as this is the same as the normal blast radius), every module has its saving throw, those who are unlucky will all get module dmg. so the total amount of module dmg can be higher, tough it can not be higher to a single module

    • yeah but will it do full module damage to every module? or will the module damage spread among the affected modules?

  2. - engine can be set on fire by ANY damage (SS: even that, which doesn’t turn it yellow), while fuel tanks start burning only when their HP reaches 0
Does that mean engines have no HP? If so that is a bit annoying.

I was looking forward to having my Stug 3 and Panzer 4 having HD models as well :(
Not that I would be able to use the HD client……

    • Engines to have HP: When yellow, (half-life) you’re slower,and when red…you don’t race at all :D

The other thing is that these HP have no effect on engine-fires: Your engine can be destroyed and not burn, or get damaged by one small shot (say amx 13 75), and while you don’t loose enough engine HP to become yellow/slower, it may still burn.

      Hope I explained well :D

      • About the red engine…you can still slide with the engine knocked out, depending on what you were doing before the event(eg:accelerating) and the slope you were sitting on.

    BULLSHIT!

  4. - there is some internal talk at WG about re-opening the European supertest…

Evul european kapitalists will leak agin!!!

  5. “- there will be three German HD models in 9.0 (Tiger I, Panther I and – strangely enough – Maus)”

Finally, poor Panther looks a bit ugly currently.

    • I just wonder, they said there’ll be a German tanks split in 0.9.0, will they come in SD models? Isn’t it a waste of resources, producing them in SD just to remodel them to HD few months later?

      • I was thinking about this too when I saw that there will be more Pz III, Pz IV and Stug III modells than currently…

        • Higher poly count on the models, high res textures, additional superfluous shit like spades hanging off the models…

Nope…if the SD models are not a good basis for the HD models then somebody is doing it wrong…

  6. “- there will be three German HD models in 9.0 (Tiger I, Panther I and – strangely enough – Maus)”

These three need it badly though. All of the new German tanks have skins that look a million times better.

  7. - all shell types of the same gun do the same module damage (SS: I checked at gamemodels3d, HE shells do NOT do more module damage than AP shells)

OK, but what about HE splash module damage? will it be mitigated with distance just like the alpha damage?

  8. Tiger remodel im fine with
    Panther remodel im fine with

But…Maus? So much for the “”mass produced vehicles come first”” thingy. I bet they made it because Maus is easy to model, i mean its just a steel brick.

    • they said ‘mass produced and legendary tanks’ and there’s no doubt, that Maus is such a legendary vehicle.

      • Tiger and Panther dont fall in my Mass produced cathegory, they fall in the Legendary cathegory.
Panzer IV for example falls in the mass produced cathegory.

        • Panther is in fact a mass produced tank. Although, yes, more Pz IVs were built then Panther… But even more tanks then Panther and Pz IV were built off the base design of the Pz 38(t).

In fact the whole design of the Panther and it’s components was all about mass production. Such was the priority of the Panther II’s design that at one point it held up development of the Tiger II.(Related to the issue of common parts which was found to be a long waste of time so Panther II was scrapped as an idea as was most of the common parts ideas.)

  9. You report a bot/idler to EU support and they respond that sadly they can’t do anything unless you have screenshot, replay from everyone in the team, dude’s blood and DNA sample, adress and number of credit card.

  10. - there is some internal talk at WG about re-opening the European supertest…
HOLY **** ! You won’t believe how happy I am right now :D
I would love to tell WG that it’s BEST. IDEA. EVER.

  11. So im buying Tiger I back… not sure why i sold it anyway…
its a grejt hischtorcikal tenk with much stronk gun, gona use it for some historical battles :D

Maby they will manage to rework some other tanks before they release the mighty 9.0… its not like 8.11 will be in use for only a week or so, or could it be…when they said that 9.0 will come sooner than we expect it to come to be to yes yes

    • You sold it because it has no armour and alpha. :-) Mobility was also effectively reduced with the previous engine removal. Tiger I is basically a turreted TD with bad camo and an HT icon that makes your team whine if you aren’t brawling yourself to death.

  12. I own all three 9.0 HD German tanks right now! 9.0′s test is gonna be fun!

Also, I don’t consider it odd for Maus to be among the first. In addition to being perhaps the most famous prototype tank of all time in real life, it’s also a very iconic tank for World of Tanks.

  13. - the non-penetration HE damage formula is still DAM = damage/2-armorthickness*1,3*1,X (1,X is the spall liner coefficient)

This must be wrong, because it does not take the distance from the explosion into account.

    • In this case its a non-penetration DIRECT HIT

When the shell misses, the damage is mitigated based on distance in a direct proportion, so at the end of the splash radius the damage is 0

      • That’s not how HE works …

Even with a direct hit, the calculates a lot of armour around the hit and tries to do damage there.

Example: Hitting the Back turret of a T34. HE will never penetrate it. The engine cover on the other hand is so thin, the HE will propagate it’s damage there. And again, there is a distance from the point of impact.

I think, the chance, that the HE shell uses the exact spot it hits to do the damage, is very low.

  14. It’s not really a “recent” discussion about bots, it’s a constant discussion with constant lies from community managers about bot accounts being banned, and the most strict enforcing of the naming and shaming rule on the entire forum, because that’s the only thing that is actually keeping that lie from being openly torn apart.

  15. If they were really intent on tracking down bots they would be using the Hall of Fame to be tracking down the players that are clearly botting.

Best example of this is todays EU 1 day hall of fame leaderboard, The top guy fifaalex1998 has 624 games played in 1 day, With 64 kills and only 171k dmg done, This might not sound as bad on the face of it but put those stats into ratios and you see how bad it really is, He did 0.1 kills per match, An average of 275 damage per match and n average of 412 xp per match.

To truly put that into perspective even taking a very conservative minimum of 2 minute long matches that would work out as him playing for 20hrs 48mins non-stop with no gaps between matches.

The rest of the top 10 maybe even as far as top 20 are all the same with some ridiculous suspect stats and games played for such a short period as 1 day.

  16. Uhm… i think, sometimes the formula of calculating HE-non-penetration DMG must be wrong… A while ago, i was shooting an IS-3 with HE on its gun-mantlet, trying to knock its gun out… I was in my SU-122-44… I dealt about 63 DMG but with this formula i will get a negative amount of DMG, about -135 (not sure)… So what to think about? Yay! Maybe I will heal the IS-3 and it will get HP? :D

    • Stronk math, dude. Firstly, you have 465 average HE damage. which is a subject to further RNG increase or decrease. Secondly, HE doesn’t penetrate on point of impact, it searches for weakest point near the point of impact – for IS-3 it would be the turret roof right above the mantlet which you shot, probably. So for that damage in the equation, you need to put values from 174 to 290, subtract 1,3 times the armor thickness (which is 90mm in that spot AFAIK) which gives about 117. If you dealt 63 DMG, then assume RNG gave you damage value of 360 (which is 180 halved), 180 minus 117 armor coefficient and you’ll get 63 final damage, voila.
