Check out today’s Chieftain’s Hatch – the topic is very interesting (not to mention entertaining) :)

- M6A2E1 armor will be brought to its historical parameters, when the vehicle is reworked to HD
- currently, M6A2E1 uses not M6A2 hull, but M6 hull
- WoT damage model doesn’t allow to model linear armor thickness change of armor, it would be too complicated to compute and would require too much computing power, that’s why armor is modelled as consisting of zones of individual thicknesses
- the same goes for modelling real 3D armor plates (currently, armor is modelled as a 2D plane with a virtual number, representing its thickness)
- regarding War Thunder, its ability to heavily modify various stickers on tanks, all the while War Thunder fans go “OMG REALISM”:

  1. Haha War Thunder GF’s funky collision model is a shitload of fuck with the occasional hilarious results.

    Gaijin is trying to improve it though since it is still in beta and all.

    • i play twice a week on test server WT GF, just for 1-2games, and i hate it, it’s very boring gameplay, and horrible map design they don’t improve at all…. WoT wins big time.

      • … ah also regarding physics, yea looks good, the tanks but the 3D world is very bad, colors, objects, the ground it’s feels Too much….
        and after testing WoT HD 9.0 tanks are totaly even with WT even the maps and the new shader on max settings looks better then WT… and they even didn’t put in Havok yet, once it’s in, WT is way back tech wise then WoT…

        and i like WT planes a lot btw… but their tank game is a fail.

          • You wont have much fun with that, cbt accounts are locked to the hardware, so when you try to play it on your computer you get banned by the automatic system.

            Though its no problem for the owner to get it working again if you change hardware (or a setup a new OS) you need to contact the support there and it usually works in a few hours again.

        How about trying kursk, that one map beats every single map of wot. Yes there are some meh maps like Karilea, but the thing is, this maps reassemble WoT maps so closely it isn’t funny, pre defined paths all gated into 2-3 hot spots for guaranteed “action” and of course “cage fight maps, where engagement ranges are all below 500m often closer to 200-300m.

          Sorry, but WoT got one of the shittiest map designs in multiplayer games on a market. In majority of cases it’s simple 3 lanes symmetrical design. There are few exceptions, but even these ain’t particularly interesting.

          I’m amazed that WoT doesn’t offer training mode with bots – in such a primitive map design you could very easily script bots that allow people to learn game and maps without ruining their stats or frustrating other players.

      • that’s like, your opinion dude. After playing wot for 3 years, I want gameplay like in WT, sit back, relax, no hitpoints, snipe like a sniping tank should and rely on my own eyes. See everything that can be seen and not get shot by invisible tanks. Also I like how commander hatch hits don’t exist in WT, nobody shoots there. Also as one youtube guy said: LFP shots don’t do anything in WT, which is real, yes, you pen the tank but shells go out of the tank almost immediately and AP does no real damage, except if you hit transmission in tanks with forward wheel drive.

        • Hehe, yea, there are certainly few brilliant things in WT damage model.

          Shooting commander hatch with AP rounds till tank dies is IMHO one of the top-10 most ridiculous things ever in WoT.

    • My favorite is still when you hit a tiny rock/tree stump and your several ton tank does a 180 flip onto it’s roof

        • as far as i remember wt fanboys haven’t had problems with comparing graphics three years old game with unreleased one

          • WoT has graphics that look like they’re from 1999 while the game actually runs like its a super-modern ultrazomg FPS like CoD/BF4 with stupid shadows and eyelashes and shit, yet WoT runs at a whopping 30 FPS with everything disabled and on low, while again looking several years old when It came out 3 years ago.

            That is why people complain

            Although in fairness patch 9.0 was probably the first one ever (I was WoT CB tester) where people actually gained FPS instead of losing like 2-5 every single patch that has ever come out since CB.

          • At the time where WoT got launched there could have been graphics like now or better in WoT but no, WG trusts in the ohh so glorious Big World Engine….
            And regarding Physics i do not remember that WoT had Physics at all even after a year from the closed Beta so yeah go on.
            And they are still bugged if u watch some RNG videos.
            Was funny touching a tank slightly on the side by passing and making an full stop.
            Or being unable driving off most of the terrain.

            P.S No fanboy of both of the games and i even enjoy them both.

          • Yea, cause at the same FPS count WT offers by far better graphics, smooth gameplay, and… well: is basically miles ahead in every aspect of the game engine.

    • Who cares? Both games are great. WoT is pure arcade, WT focuses on real tanks and tries to implement realism as much as possible. If it wasnt for WT, how much do you want to be they would still be releasing retarded OP tank lines made up of pure fiction

        PS– MOST of the tanks in WoT that haven’t seen service are prototypes/blueprints designs. (Yeah we know about all their made up stuff… T-28 Prot., WTF E-100, etc.)

    Maus turret edges should get a buff then – small stripe of impenetrable armor, but better than nothing.

    • You would see us driving our uncommon alien tanks much more often if that tank would be more playable.

  4. First war thunder is in closed beta,there will be big changes to the GF,and if you ask for the physics in WoT you could have jumped from a bridge to anothere one :/

    • You could jump from one bridge to another only in lightest tanks in game with good speed and all that could only be done by using crashed car wreck to launch you up. Otherwise tank would just fall down. You should really think trough when you are desperately trying to shit on another game just because you are a fanboi.

  5. Yeah, WT physics are no really final.
    You can nearly go vertical but you stop dead when hitting a tiny rock.
    There is reason thats its still CB. But its playable.

    • WoT CB had basically non-existent physics at all, when going over rough terrain, tanks would stick to it like the gravity was infinite, yet they could climb any hill up to almost 90°.

      after 5 years of development, KV-5′s turret can’t even fly off normally, you can do 360′s in tanks, they even said that the only thing keeping tanks from flipping over is a single line in code, yet it’s been almost a month and their only official response was that tanks flipping over won’t come in 9.0 because the developers didn’t made it in time or some BS like that.

      WT GF: one week Jingles posted about how tanks feel way too light. Next monday it was fixed.
      Bombers too ineffective? have some ground bases to destroy. Bombers deciding games by nuking out bases/airfields? bases no longer grant a victory, oh and airfield can’t be bombed till all other bases are gone.

      I think we are clear to call Mr. Bigangrycat a f*cking idiot.

  6. Its so fucking funny… when something goes wrong in wot CW and WG goes all “Its still Beta”, everyone is like “OMG they use that excuse since years”.
    When something fails in WT GF every Wt Fanboy starts crying :”Omg, SS shut up, its still in Beta” . Especially with those awesome WT “betas” where u already have to pay for everything…

    • Well if you know there were missions and if you completed them you have got chance to get there. They’re giving codes from it till now. And for paying for it It’s the same like Starbound or DayZ or 7days to die those are uncompleted games with problems and you have pay for them too, and people buy them too.
      -> Starbound- Many wipes of accounts

      ->DayZ – Problems with synch, crashing

      ->7 days to die – Problems with loading world, and multiplayer bug when all your things in your inventory dissapeared after server restart.

      Take DayZ’s cost is big and theese bugs are annoying even while watching videos.

      What i ment with this payed pre order isnt a bad thing but the cost must be set good. Actually the cheaper WT packs cost few € so whats the problem.

        U can enter for free, u dont have to pay for the Gold etc.
        WT is just a game thats already in Release state (No Wipe planed, already selling everything) and just using Beta tag as an excuse for real ;)

  7. Painting however you like has two sides.
    Negative: it looks crap and stupid in some cases (I painted my wt planes all black…).
    Possitive: it gives some degree of noticible individualisation of each tank, which WoT lacks (for now).

    • I’d much rather have customisable modules, or maybe a repair kit would appear as a box on your tank, binocs would actually be modeled on commander’s cupola, additional grousers would be attached to the tracks etc… this would be awesome.

        Right now the only beta releases of WoT are these on common test (and their internal tests) – everything else is an official release.

    Can somebody send him the video from WoT’s beta, with tanks climbing mountains at full speed?

      • Every alpha/beta stage is a pile of shit, no matter how old the competition is. (take for example the Day-Z. Arma and standalone alike. Or Dota.)

      • Exactly, WoT has had 4 years to fine tune their game, and get it to were it is today. Gaijin has never made a land vehicle based game before afaik, so this is new for them. It’s physics have improved a lot since I started testing in December alone, and it’s still continuing to improve. But again, it’s a beta, so I’m not really sure why people feel the need to compare a game that has only been in it’s closed beta for a few months, to a game that’s been around years.

        It’s like trying to compared a modern destroyer that’s been active for a while to one still in drydock.

          In respect to the comments about tanks “climbing trees”. It is partially wrong. No tank is capable of climbing a tree in a way that you suddenly you find yourself raiding birds nests. Larger trees don’t have a “Damage model”, in the sense that when hit by a tank, or projectile, they simply stand there and lol @ you no matter what you do, rather then get run down, or broken like they should. Because of this, SOME tanks will lift their front end up, in some cases considerably, if you continue to try and drive forward. But they will not climb it like Bigangrycat appears to be implying. So I’m not sure why he’s chalking it up to be a “lol@WTGFphysics” thing, because in reality it’s likely to be no different then what would happen in WoT if they suddenly decided trees are indestructible and can never be run over.

          As for the decals, it’s currently using the same decal system as planes. Nobody knows what will happen for tanks. It may change, it may not.

People need to remember the “physics” WoT had back in beta: tanks were glued to the ground, you couldn’t even move over cliffs or hills, invisible walls everywhere…etc. War Thunder GF isn’t even released yet, its in beta testing and the whole point of beta testing is to fine tune various things, such as tank physics.

    When the game has actually been released then I’ll make my own judgement.

  15. I wish there was a way to find out if the Type 61 (tier 9 jap Med) has a decreased xp %. Because I get 5k damage and 3600 spotting and all I get for it is 1800xp. Just seems odd if I do it with any other tier 9 I would way move xp.

  17. Gentlemen, prepare you’r stones. I’m about to suggest a nerf to german tank(-destroyer). Atm the Stug III B has the identical view range with the G model (310m) BUT it doesn’t have the cupola that G has. In the same time the Jgdpz. 38(t) *chough “Hetzer” chough* has the view range of 260m in the same tier. PLUS the B Stug has the “box” mantlet AND has better accuracy with the L/48 gun than the G has with the “Saupkof” mantlet. The later mantlet was supposed to have better ballistic capabilities.

    • “Ballistic” as in “ballistic protection”. Feel free to explain by what eldricht Teutonic witchcraft the shape of the *mantlet* would have any bearing at all on ballistical characteristics of the gun…

      • Easily it can affect the guns ballistics, example in the basic hunting/sniper rifles the freely resonating barrel is much more accurate than the one thats attached to something in the way. (I have no idea if it has anything to do with this) and the mantlet build (cast) from a solid piece is also much stable in that way than one bolted & welded together from pieces…

        • Does not compute. Cannon aren’t small arms and vehicular mountings aren’t human biomechanics.

          Certainly I have NEVER seen any actual expert on the subject write anything that even suggested mantlets, their construction or lack thereof mattered fuck-all one way or another in regards to tank-gun accuracy. They talk about recoil buffers and muzzle velocities and shell ballistics and gunsights and God knows what else, but NEVER anything like that.

          TL;DR – ballistic protection. Period. That’s the whole goddamn purpose of a gun mantlet in the first place.
