8.4.2014

- the camo/visibility/spotting system was developed from the beginning of World of Tank development (SS: eg. it wasn’t introduced later)
- HD model of the T34 (premium heavy) gun will have gas ejector (SS: only visual change, no change in game)
- there is an internal counter in World of Tanks about how many trees you brought down – this was implemented a long time ago, when there was a developer idea to implement a special “medal” for bringing the trees down. In the end, they decided not to implement it, but the counter stayed.
- there was some confusion about the “raw XP” counter in World of Tanks. Apparently, from 0.8.8 patch onwards, there are “additional data” available for each vehicle (via API interface), such as “raw XP” (XP without premium account). These statistics are not in the client, they have to be enabled by using XVM and some Russian players were confused, because they didn’t know about it. Developers stated that this has been around for a while and that it’s a thing they don’t consider very important. Apparently, this won’t be implemented into the regular (non-modded) game.

  1. Man WG should make it so that average xp stats take non-premium version of XP ONLY!
Will make the average XP stat relevant. Currently it is only relevant if its 100-300 or 800+…

    • Problem is: They only have this info for games 8.8+ ;) So all old games would have to be taken separately ;)

    • I use premium sometimes but even on standard my average xp is 811 :) i started from 795

  2. Maybe if they would clean their codes of all the useless crap they forgot, server will maybe afford to refresh spoting check more often. That would be cool and smart.
I think that is called “optimization”.

    • You are retarded, a few counters and an API to access an already excisting column in the database don’t slow things down.

      • Thanks for the insult. It still depends if the counter is server-side (increasing load) or client-side and how many of these are in the game. Imagine the project of a Bulldozer achievement (countinh the rubbles of destructions and other useless thing).
        Kisses.

        • I’m no fan of insulting people but he does have a point. The server already has to calculate the falling tree, marking it as fallen is done anyways, so just a simple list isn’t putting any strain on the server at all. It’s like running minesweeper while playing WoT, it doesn’t show at all.
And I don’t get why people constantly complain over these spotting checks, I have no problem with them whatsoever. I guess some people are just perfectionists, can’t blame them.
          Cheers.

          • That was just an example i could have spoken about refreshing minimap positions more often. But ok i got your point and ferongr one.

            • Minimap position refreshes are not slow because of server running them slow. They are intended to be slow to be realistic as you wouldn’t constantly be updated about every single inch that an enemy tank moves it would be more likely to be given an update of its position every 5 or 10 minutes in RL probably.

            • Yeah minimap refresh i strictly connected to spotting system refreshings. IF something is beyond of your field of view there’s not a damn chance of seeing it in real time. Unless you can afford a satellite.

  3. “- the camo/visibility/spotting system was developed from the beginning of World of Tank development (SS: eg. it wasn’t introduced later)”
and you forgot “and never been fixed” :D

so that explains why the system is completely broken, it’s been dragged so long from a time the game was completely different that they don’t knwo what to do(which is to remove it completely, ditch the outlines and go for a full natural viewsystem where cammo is VISUAL and not a romulan cloaking device)

  4. Wish they would just make it so that once a tank has been spotted, thats it, it stays spotted until dead or the game ends. Tanks going invisible again is just retarded. Maybe then we will see an end to camping.

    • My YOLO-T-15 is liking this idea.
Run into 15 tanks, get killed, everyone got spotted, nobody can hide and you can get 20k credit for dying in less then 1 minute!
      AWESOME IDEA!

    • This is literally the most idiotic WOT-related suggestion I’ve seen in a quite long time. Bonus points for not making any sense from *any* POV.

    • There would be even MORE camping – two spotters from competing teams would just ram into enemies and let the rest to stationary bunkers waiting for the enemy to move. Aaaand of course ESL Tournaments would look hilarious. Once spotted then draw. And there would be no tactics, no sneaking, no sense of all of this. If you like simple games just play emulated Battle City or find it online.

  5. I don’t think the current draw engine would work without the outlines. In many cases it would be almost impossible to target or even see enemies, without an overhaul of the current spotting and drawing engine. A lot of times just parking by a blown up tank makes it almost impossible to be targeted by the current system, and if you can’t get a target outline you don’t have correct trajectory calculations. It would be a very different game.

  7. Shouldn’t there be a medal for knocking down the fewest number of trees, i.e. the Climate Change Champion! And, the medal for knocking down the most trees be changed from Lumberjack to Climate Destroyer! Of course, that is only if you believe that climate change is man-made. ;)

    • Considering there was an ice age that appeared and then left before man ever started doing anything that “causes global warming” I think its pretty damn obvious that climate change happens whether or not man does anything.
